New to mumsnet 🙋‍♀️ and I've seen loads of threads where everyone is so lovely and supportive so thought I'd post. This is our 4th cycle ttc #2, 1st cycle giving SMEP a try as I've seen so many success stories. With our first, we got so lucky and ended up pregnant on our first month trying so this waiting is a bit of a shock, although I know out 1st was the exception not the norm! Would love to hear any success stories, or any other ladies that want to compare notes this month x

@NSx well the cheapie from poundland is negative. I just tested not so long ago. I am going to do an easy@home test in an hour or so. Definitely looks like the evening primrose oil and reflexology are helping, as I ovulated CD 12 last cycle and it looks like I will ovulate CD 14 this cycle. Also, I have EWCM at the moment too.

@dobby13 apps aren't great unless you input temp, cm, opk results etc. I would trust the opk and cm and continue doing SMEP ☺️✨☺️

@allgoodthings84 it would depend on how much sleep got before being awoken. I take mine at 7.30am every morning, as that's the time I get up for work and I just set an alarm for the weekend and fall back to sleep after taking it. I also buy the clearblue opks when they are on offer in Amazon, so they aren't as expensive then.

For anyone interested in reflexology 🦋

@allgoodthings84 I was referring to bbt in the above post, as I find it helpful, as opks just let us know that we got a lh surge, but bbt shows that we ovulate. I hope your daughter helped to clean up afterwards. I often find myself constantly going around in circles leaning the house... It's never ending. Hope they had fun though 🙂

allgoodthings84 · 10/08/2022 19:26

@Aurora81 i wake constantly in the night (bad sleeper) and my daughter often wakes me up in morning by knocking on my wardrobe door 😂 so I think I would struggle with bbt. My heart rate shoots up the same way temperatures do though so think this shows ovulation too and I feel ovulation cramps the day after my peak opk so think it all ties in 🤞

they had a great time and yep she helped me she had no choice 😂

NSx · 10/08/2022 20:27

@Aurora81 - does evening primrose work the same way as starflower ?

Mum2DD89 · 10/08/2022 20:59

Ladies I've just had a horrible realisation.. today is CD10 so bd time, but it has also been a gym day and I'm knackered.. and now that means CD12 and CD14 also fall on gym days 😂😭

Pray for me.. I so miss the days when sex was just for fun too!

Slightly envious of you that are ovulating around now, I usually ovulate CD16 or 17 so have a loooong way to go!

@Mum2DD89 😂😂😂 good luck, I’m cd10 tomorrow 😇

@NSx I think starflower oil is more potent than evening primrose oil 🤔

@allgoodthings84 I understand and if you are in tune with your body than that's enough isn't it. I bbt because I am trying to watch my luteal phase to make sure it's long enough. I think my chemical pregnancy was from low progesterone.

allgoodthings84 · 10/08/2022 21:46

@Mum2DD89 good luck! I would try and switch my gym days 😂

@Aurora81 I didn’t realise until recently what the cramps around mid cycle were as wasn’t trying for my daughter so never researched it or anything. I actually thought there may have been something wrong with me feeling cramps half way through. I’m trying not to think about all the things that could be wrong as cycle 3 is still early and we both had covid last cycle and the GP wouldn’t do anything until 6 months anyway if much then even as I already have a child

Aurora81 · 10/08/2022 22:00

@Mum2DD89 we still try to make it fun, as I think the results are more productive 😉

@allgoodthings84 some months my ovulation pains are mild and then other months the pain is more intense. It's all out of our control every month once we do all we can during our fertile period, so I try to focus on what I can do to improve my cycle rather than stressing out about things that are our of my control. The body prioritises stress hormones over sex hormones, so I try to reduce my stress levels as much as possible 🧘🏻‍♀️

allgoodthings84 · 10/08/2022 22:07

I wish I hadn’t told my partner that today was ovulation day as I’m enjoying the extra sex. Because we are both usually so busy it’s only twice a week any other time 😂

NSx · 11/08/2022 08:33

Morning girls ❣️
I got my first flashing smiley today which is cd10 so I would DTD today anyways …
but my question is- should I DTD tomorrow as I will have another flashing smiley … as per CB OPK it says DTD on flashing and static as these are the most fertile days 😊
x

allgoodthings84 · 11/08/2022 09:00

@NSx SMEP says every other day until peak then 3 days in a row but if you’re feeling up for it then I totally would go for it

allgoodthings84 · 11/08/2022 09:01

My heart rate is up to 63 this morning (was 56 a few days ago) so think that’s ovulation done for me

NSx · 11/08/2022 09:04

@allgoodthings84 i just feel like not DTD on a day with a flashing smiley sounds like a waste 😃😂😅

Aurora81 · 11/08/2022 10:54

Good morning ☺️

3rd day flashing ☺ CD 12, must do a cheapie at lunchtime.

@allgoodthings84 we dtd all cycle as I enjoy the intimacy with my DH. Keep going 😀😄😂

@NSx I think it's so sperm is waiting when the egg is released. Cd 12 so I sent my DH a 😘 💞💋 message 😂

NSx · 11/08/2022 10:57

@Aurora81 😂😂😂😂 should I DTD today and then also tomorrow as tomorrow will also be smiley 😃

dobby13 · 11/08/2022 12:42

@Aurora81 - good luck! I send similar text messages, glad it's not just me (only difference is the use of the eggplant emoji in ours.. 🍆😂)

@NSx - I'd say keep at it as much as you can - it can't hurt right? 🤷🏼‍♀️

NSx · 11/08/2022 12:43

@dobby13 well that’s the thing I don’t know 😂😂 does the sperm get less/ not as good if u have more sex or is it good to save it up and then have sex 😂

dobby13 · 11/08/2022 12:47

@NSx - I think the principle of SMEP is to DTD on all of your high/peak days to increase chances. If it were me I would (but valid point about quality of sperm - I can't imagine it would impact quality that badly at a once a day rate, but I'm sure some of the other ladies have researched/better advice on this!)

NSx · 11/08/2022 13:00

@dobby13 I agree with you there, your logic makes sense 😂 the CB instructions tell u to DTD on flashy and static and the day after static - so seems stupid not to ?

dobby13 · 11/08/2022 13:10

@NSx agreed ☺️ we're one day after static smiley, and will be DTD today and tomorrow, just to make sure we've thrown all of our eggs in the basket (I know - terrible analogy).

🤞🏻🤞🏻 for you - sounds as though we are at very similar stages of our cycle, so can brave the TWW together!

NSx · 11/08/2022 13:19

@dobby13 ohhh good luck! What days have u DTD so far ? I think I will just DTD for the next few days til I’m after my static 😇 going to even try DTD in the morning as I heard swimmers are better 😌
yea I will be 2WW probably start of next week, so few days behind you 🤞 for some BFP’s this cycle

allgoodthings84 · 11/08/2022 13:22

@NSx I have done research into this and every day once a day will do no harm if it’s for less than 2 weeks. Yes the sperm does need a break but if it’s for only a week then the affect is so minimal the levels will still be above healthy levels

NSx · 11/08/2022 13:29

@allgoodthings84 just the answer I was looking for ☺️🎉
