New to mumsnet 🙋‍♀️ and I've seen loads of threads where everyone is so lovely and supportive so thought I'd post. This is our 4th cycle ttc #2, 1st cycle giving SMEP a try as I've seen so many success stories. With our first, we got so lucky and ended up pregnant on our first month trying so this waiting is a bit of a shock, although I know out 1st was the exception not the norm! Would love to hear any success stories, or any other ladies that want to compare notes this month x

@NSx i can only imagine how hard it must be to lose a baby 😢 my mum lost her first at full term and she went on to have me less than a year later and then my younger brother and no other other losses so I really hope you get your bfp asap and don’t suffer again.

I know that I will have to have mine a week early (I’m guessing a week but don’t really know) as I’ll be having a planned c section. The day after I had my daughter the surgeon who did the emergency c section explained what had happened and that I would be fine to have another but would have to have a c section because of the high risk of it happening again. Up until recently I didn’t want another because if it but I’ve never been in a relationship as good as this and it will complete our family. My daughter is desperate for a sibling too but she has no idea we are ttc she thinks she won’t ever get one and tells me she’s sad about that

@IDidntKnowItWasAParty how many cycles did it take ?

@allgoodthings84 i think a lot of people have had losses but not many talk about it, it’s more common than I thought unfortunately 😭
oh I have my fingers crossed for you, for a sibling for your daughter 💕 I’m so glad you find yourself in a happy and loving relationship - you will get the last piece to the puzzle when you least expect it…
Thinking happy thoughts and sending baby dust to us all 💖✨ let’s hope August is our month!

@Goodnewsday good to hear it worked for you before and so quickly.

@allgoodthings84 I get what you're saying and I too have though what if it doesn't work or takes ages. My partner too is desperate for a child of his own and I know I'm older now than last time. I just hope it's a pretty straightforward journey. I'm so sorry you went through all that with your ex and with such a young baby. I'm so glad you have met someone else and hope you both get that bfp soon. That's so lovely she wants a sibling. I've never discussed the idea of a sibling with my daughter although I'm sure she'd love one.

I had 25 cycle last time so if the same I'll be testing end of the month. I'd be due 30th but will probably end up testing before 😂

@NSx that all must've been so hard and I know still is. Keeping everything crossed for you to get your rainbow baby soon and to make all those things a little easier for you.

@IDidntKnowItWasAParty that's great it worked for you.

@EdinburghGirl1 it was very hard at the time but I have amazing friend and family support and now I’m happier than I’ve ever been so it all turned out good 😊. It does worry me that it won’t happen but it’s out of our hands so just going to keep trying and hopefully it works out. I would love to be pregnant by Christmas that’s my goal. Would be amazing to happen this cycle as the first scan would be just before partners mums birthday so would be the best birthday surprise for her as she may not get any other biological grandchildren (she treats my daughter fantastically).

Can I ask you ladies if you have thought about a situation where it doesn't work out, and time goes by without that elusive BFP?
I think about it often. At 38 it is a real possibility and I've prepared for that prospect. Sorry don't mean to be negative, just trying to be realistic

@allgoodthings84 @EdinburghGirl1 — defo hoping for our BFP’s this month 🤞✨ I hope this is our month …
I was taking vit c,d and folic & now my partner has come in with a packet of pregnacare supplements for us both & Im sitting here eating pomegranate 😂😅😅 if it doesn’t happen this month I don’t know what will 😭🤣 here goes cd6 poas time 🎉

@NatGee yes i think about this all the time, i turned 35 3 weeks ago so I feel time is ticking, however I believe it will happen when it’s meant to.
do you have any children at the minute ? How long have u ttc for ? 💕

@NatGee I’m 37 and will be 38 in a few months so it does concern me but I keep reminding myself lots of people on here and people I know in real life conceive older. I have regular periods and heart rate goes up at ovulation and back down at AF so I’m taking that as I do actually ovulate. I’m on cycle 3 now and after 6 cycles if I’m still not pregnant I’ll speak to GP. Doubt they will do much for us though as I have a child already. If it doesn’t happen then it’s out of our hands just got to keep trying. I’ll be even more sad for my partner as I have my daughter who is amazing. I have to be honest it does worry me when AF arrives that it might never happen but I try not to think about it

@NSx the pregnacare makes me feel poorly but I’m taking vit c and vit b complex with vit d and folic acid. Even if they don’t help me get pregnant they will be good for me anyway

@allgoodthings84 when I was pregnant before I used Pregnacare and it was disgusting 😂😂 but there were 3 tablets a day and the fish oil one was the worst 😅 .. this one only has 1 pink tablet so not as bad, I’ll give it a try anyways the one I took today seems to be Ok 👌🏽

@NSx that is my motto; if its meant to happen it will, so we decided to not go down the IVF route even if our six month deadline doesn't pan out. It feels like we'd be forcing the issue. Not to judge anyone for their decision to do that, not at all, it just doesn't feel right for us, is all. In all honesty, we live pretty full and content lives, and never really had that impossible urge people speak of that they must have children. If it never happened I think we'd be OK? This will be our third cycle TTC btw
I am sorry you lost your angel baby, but I hope that is reassurance that you can get pregnant? Totally empiric, but, it feels like those whove already had children or fallen pregnant before show sooner, or even conceive sooner? I know its unfounded but soometimes it feels like first time mums have it harder
@allgoodthings84 I'm literally obsessing over stories of women who conceive when theyre older lol it really does keep my hopes up! I am glad you already have a child, how old is she if you dont mind my asking? We're both on cycle 3 it seems! I truly hope this is it for us

A statistic that I find encouraging is that 30% of couples TTC will conceive on their first go, and by the end of year, 90% will have done so without any help :D

@allgoodthings84 AF is due for me on 29th Aug, I am going to try my hardest not to test before, as the last three months the BFN have almost been more upsetting than just getting my period

@NSx we are using the pregnacare one for him and her too, it did make me feel slightly nauseous at the start, and be prepared for the neon wee 🤦‍♀️ apparently it is excess vit b?

@Natgee those are some reassuring stats 🤞

CD8 for me tomorrow, and so SMEP starts 🤞🤞

@NatGee its out with our control anyways isn’t it so what will be will be.
I think everyone is entitled to make their own choices and if IVF isn’t for you and you are happy with that then that’s all that matters.
yes I got pregnant fairly quickly even though I was 34 at the time, and part of me is hopeful it could and will happen again soon as it was literally 6 months ago I fell pregnant so hopefully not much has changed, but you just hear these stories of people falling pregnant so fast then they can’t conceive again, or it just doesn’t happen, so I’m a bit nervous I’ll be honest.
my pregnancy was perfect apart from the fact that our girl had chromosomal issues incompatible with life, they said it was not our fault and just a fluke of nature but it’s hard not to wonder what’s next u know?

@NSx this is our 4th cycle TTC and have been on them for 4.5 months ish, it's hard to say whether they're working or not as we haven't been successful yet .. but it definitely can't hurt and they have all sorts off good stuff in like Coq10 etc. We didn't bother with anything with our first, and it happened straight away, I only used OPKs. Part of me wonders whether the more you look in to everything the harder it is? Who knows.. feeling a little melancholy tonight I guess. I'm sure we will all get there, it's so easy to assume the worst, especially when it is out of our control!

@Mum2DD89 that’s it isn’t it- you don’t try as hard and it happens, then when u really try I feel it drags and doesn’t happen. 😭 I’m trying to be laid back and relax this month but I don’t think it will be possible.
fingers crossed for all of us this month, ttc is a form of human torture

@NatGee I used to ovulate at CD 14, so I am hoping to get back to ovulating then. Apparently it also gives the egg time to mature. I find the clear blue opks easy to use and no second guessing about lines. I also ordered the easy@home cheapies that someone recommended.

@Aurora81 @NatGee
i use both cheap strips and the dual hormone CB OPK, I find the strips easy to use with the Premom app, but I like the flashing and static smileys as it gives me a definite 👍🏽…
I normally ovulate around cd14 so I’m on cd7 at the minute but expect to get a flashing smiley towards the end of the week so I’ll maybe start testing on CB on wed, but using the cheapies from
yesterday to get a baseline

@NSx I started a ttc journal too to get it all out of my head and onto paper. I guess I am old school like that 😂 I am going to test with a cheapie when I get home at lunchtime. So dtd again tomorrow CD 10 😉
