SMEP - anyone giving this a try this month and want to join me?

New to mumsnet 🙋‍♀️ and I've seen loads of threads where everyone is so lovely and supportive so thought I'd post. This is our 4th cycle ttc #2, 1st cycle giving SMEP a try as I've seen so many success stories. With our first, we got so lucky and ended up pregnant on our first month trying so this waiting is a bit of a shock, although I know out 1st was the exception not the norm! Would love to hear any success stories, or any other ladies that want to compare notes this month x

@LucyFraser1981 my strips are low too, but they only rise just before ovulation so not expecting them to be high, but was expecting a flashy today which is weird… no estrogen rise yet 😅 ..
I will DTD when I get my smiley I think? Who knows.

I’m now sat in my car waiting for the doctor to call. I’m at work and there’s nowhere private to go at work so the car was my only option really ha ha

I’ve been told I can book in for day 3 and day 18/19 (21) day bloods and will do a general bloods too to see if I’m deficient in anything. She didn’t seem to know about the day 3 bloods! Said she’s only ever referred for day 21 and done it all from that! So I don’t know how reliable this is all going to be for me it’s made me a bit nervous.

my day 3 will have to be day 4 as day 3 will be a Sunday. Then I’m worried about what day to book for post ovulation bloods to be honest as I have no idea when I will ovulate yet as varies by 3-4 days. Last few have been day 12/13 though.

my partner has to get a sperm analysis too or they won’t refer to a fertility clinic if needs be as I have had a child so he will be delighted 😂

She couldn’t transfer me back to reception to book bloods though and now I can’t get through!! Just keeps saying user busy xxxx

@EdinburghGirl1 I remember sleeping and sleeping when I was pregnant with my DS. Early nights and feeling so tired all the time.

@NSx and @LucyFraser1981 I just got a really strong positive opk as well today Cd 14. First time in ages my cycle is back to normal. I started the cb opk on Cd 8 and I got a low. I then got five highs before getting a peak today. Best of luck when you test again 😊

I’ve got my day 21 booked for 19th but now I’m thinking my cycle will be 29 days which means should be 20th, but when I asked the nurse at the time I said to her my cycle varies 28/29 days and she said just go with 28 😂😅 so not sure how accurate it all is 😂🤣 I might ask a nurse here (I work in a GPS office but I don’t like telling them mt business 😂😅)
it’s all so confusing 😂
fyi when I was booking for my day 3 I was between dates and again she wasn’t too concerned 😂😅

The doctor told me it doesn’t matter if it’s the same cycle for day 3 and day 21 bloods? Does this seem right to you? She said I could do the post ovulation ones this cycle and the day 3 next cycle. I think I’ll just go for next cycle anyway as tomorrow will be 6dpo so a day early and Monday 9dpo so a bit too late? I doubt they can get me in that quickly anyway

She offered the tests etc that’s great but ignored the spotting completely so think I’ll have to wait and see if we get an infertility referral before I can get my cervix checked out. She asked if I bleed after sex and as soon as I said no to that she wasn’t bothered

@allgoodthings84 i don’t know really - I’m going to phone my GP on Monday - hopefully I get a positive OPK Sunday - if not I’ll need to move my blood test forward -
i just asked a nurse here she said ask a GP when I see one I’ll ask 😅 my fave one is on annual leave 😂 it’s all so confusing really

@allgoodthings84 OK I just asked a GP, she said it’s not really going to matter if u do it 6dpo or 8dpo - ideally 7dpo is the best (day 21) but sometimes it’s not possible.
she said if they get a result that looks like it’s off because it was the wrong day they would just retest anyways -

@allgoodthings84 mine were done on two different cycles because my 7dpo was at the weekend. I suppose if something is out of balance it will be on both cycles 🤔

@NSx @Aurora81 ahhh ok she was right then ha ha. I’ve done both next cycle anyway as 7dpo is Saturday this cycle. Then I’ve done day 21 at day 19 which will be 7dpo if next cycle is same amount of days as this one and the last. I know it won’t be sooner and I’m guessing I can ring up once I’ve peaked next cycle and change it if it’s more than 1 day out as that would be 9 days notice on peak day so should be ok to change?

at least I know this cycle is the last cycle without any tests etc

@NSx yep. She was very matter of fact that I won’t be able to get treatment on the nhs (which I knew) because of having a child already but they can refer to a fertility clinic if nothing comes up with my bloods or his sperm so we can then at least find out what’s wrong then go private to treat it if possible. Because my partner hasn’t had a child yet but I have she said it has to be done as a couple at the same time and we will only get a referral if he does his bit too. He’s not best pleased as he thought he would only have to do it if they find nothing with me 😂 I told him it’s that way because he has no kids so as far as they are concerned it’s just as likely him as it is me

@allgoodthings84 Is your partner up for getting checks? when I mention it to my partner he isn’t interested 😂 he just says because I fell in feb then it’s all fine 🤪 I would be interested to know his numbers tho 😊🤣

@NSx he will yes as he wants a baby and he knows they won’t do more than my bloods unless he gets a sperm analysis done. It’s good really that she’s insisting on that so it’s done sooner rather than having to wait if my results are normal

@NSx at least by doing them both in the next cycle I can see this cycle out. AF is due next Friday and I start spotting 10dpo, I’m 5 dpo now. Not sure if I would still spot or not if I’m pregnant. If I don’t start spotting on Tuesday then I’ll be feeling very positive as I always spot from then.

@NSx be amazing if it happened before the rabbit hole of finding out if anything is wrong but I feel so much better I’m now doing what I can. I feel more relaxed if AF does come. Don’t get me wrong I’ll be gutted but not as upset as previously. I hope you get your flashing smiley soon do you can get bd. I bet you fall now you’re less worried!

need to keep reminding myself that no matter what every cycle I’m one cycle closer to my bfp

@allgoodthings84 that’s a very good way to think of it, it should happen eventually so just a matter of time, fingers crossed for us both, im not doing the 100 DTD of SMEP I’m going to only do it when I get the smileys so here’s hoping 😅✨🤞
