SMEP - anyone giving this a try this month and want to join me?

New to mumsnet 🙋‍♀️ and I've seen loads of threads where everyone is so lovely and supportive so thought I'd post. This is our 4th cycle ttc #2, 1st cycle giving SMEP a try as I've seen so many success stories. With our first, we got so lucky and ended up pregnant on our first month trying so this waiting is a bit of a shock, although I know out 1st was the exception not the norm! Would love to hear any success stories, or any other ladies that want to compare notes this month x

@NSx I think I am going to dtd 1st flashing ☺ and then static ☺. Hopefully that will be enough of a hold to ensure that there are enough swimmers waiting for the egg when it is released. The thought of going through another Christmas without being pregnant was what made me feel so sad the last few days.

@Aurora81 yea well I get 3 flashy then 1 static so total would be 5 days of DTD - so might miss a day too I don’t know - Christmas is still a while away! Still time, I would like to be pregnant before my due date which would have been 8 November - let’s see x

@NSx I’m sorry AF arrived. I know you expected it but it’s still a blow.

I’m CD8 now. I’m not going to dtd tonight as I never ovulate before CD12 and we want to do every other day until peak and can’t do Saturday as at a wedding so going to go for CD9, CD11 and CD13 and see what happens with opk’s. I tend to ovulate CD12-15 from what I can tell from when my periods start (only been doing opk’s since starting to ttc but now know my LP and have been tracking cycle length for years so can work it out). We will carry on if haven’t yet seen a peak CD13. I might miss my peak because of the wedding but if I do we will just go every other day until CD19 or something to make sure. I’m sure my resting heart rate will tell me if ovulation has happened anyway

yea every other day should be fine I think, I don’t know exactly what strategy I’ll have this month 😂 gonna try be a bit more calm and less stressed 😂

Sorry AF has arrived @NSx, even with expecting it, it's still a bummer. Thought I was out today, have had cramps this afternoon that feel distinctly AFish. No sign yet but not due until tomorrow or Thursday. Someone needs to get a BFP on this thread otherwise it's not give SMEP a very good look!

I caved and did a test. No man, woman, beast or 3 year old was getting in my way this morning. BFN, so shouldn't have bothered! Was a cheap Tesco test so now mentally preparing myself for AF's arrival and also convincing myself it was too early to be picked up on that test. I swear the end of the TWW is peak levels of crazy for me! 🤪 How's everyone else doing?

My temp has risen slightly again today, so my chart is officially triphasic and I just keep repeating 'don't be a troll don't be a troll don't be a troll' hoping that will make any sort of difference 🤦‍♀️

Feeling a little nauseous this morning but that could be from the red wine last night 😂

How is everyone else feeling today?

@fsr111 oh that's horrible, sorry. Don't beat yourself up about peak craziness, we've ALL been there.

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 trying to have some self restraint as seeing a BFN is harder for me than just waiting.. im quite happy here in my little hope bubble for now!

AF due tomorrow or Friday so thinking if she hasn't shown her ugly face by Fri morning I'll test then as will (hopefully) be 13dpo and should be a clear yes or no..

@Mum2DD89 - keeping everything crossed for you! That chart looks great! Stupid question here but do you feel warmer? I mean, if you were't temping do you think you would notice you are running warmer? Just interested as pretty much everything I know about BBT I have learnt in this thread!

@fsr111 oh no 😞 sorry to hear at least its done with eh? I have this nervous feeling at thebpit of my stomach now that im 9dpo and nearly ready to test which is just not nice. At least youre done with it this cycle. Onwards to the next !
@Mum2DD89 your chart looks perfect. To be fair if your af was to arrive i think your temp would have begun dropping by now. I am hopeful for you! Xx

@Aurora81 thanks. I'm now 15dpo and no AF yet but she is due today. Would be so lovely to see some bfp on this thread. @NSx x I think I might do similar to you next cycle. Aim for just every second day or something. Hopefully try to be more relaxed about it this month and kinda feel more hopeful given I'm now taking COQ10 and have a reflexology appointment and will be going on holiday 2 weeks tomorrow.

I'm really hoping you do have your bfp before Christmas. I'm hoping I get pregnant before my birthday in mid November. This gives me 3 more cycles and if nothing by then it will be 6 so will speak to GP.

@fsr111 sorry to hear you got a bfn. I think it's perfectly normal to be crazy at end of tww or anytime ttc to be honest lol

@EdinburghGirl1 yea I think I will alternate days and see what happens? But defo try DTD the day before ovulation so whenever the static smiley comes.
I figured I have no control over this anyways so need to try and relax a bit cos the stress defo doesn’t help im sure 😆

we dtd on CD8 last night in the end purely for fun as we haven’t in nearly 2 weeks. I wanted to wait until tonight as it might actually count 😂 but we got carried away. Will still go for it tonight then every other day. If I catch my peak then we will go for that day but I have a feeling it might be Saturday so won’t catch the peak and won’t be dtd 😂

Ok guys you are never going to believe this but I decided to just take a test since AF hadn't arrived and I did feel a little off this morning and look what happened. I'm in complete shock as I just did not expect it all at

@fsr111 I was so sure. So funny isn't it. I was in total shock when something popped up on the cheapie test so instantly grabbed the FRER. I've had sore boobs last few days but had that last month and I know most people do approaching AF. I do remember feeling exhausted on sat afternoon having very little energy after being out for a walk but didn't think anything of it and felt better after just chilling for a couple hours. I had gotten a bfn that day so thought I was out. I do now feel quite nauseous so guess that's the first proper symptom @NatGee with DD I felt off around 9/10dpo and couldn't manage my workout at 11dpo plus had insane thirst whereas did my workouts the past few days no bother. Just shows everyone and every pregnancy is different.
