SMEP - anyone giving this a try this month and want to join me?

New to mumsnet 🙋‍♀️ and I've seen loads of threads where everyone is so lovely and supportive so thought I'd post. This is our 4th cycle ttc #2, 1st cycle giving SMEP a try as I've seen so many success stories. With our first, we got so lucky and ended up pregnant on our first month trying so this waiting is a bit of a shock, although I know out 1st was the exception not the norm! Would love to hear any success stories, or any other ladies that want to compare notes this month x

@allgoodthings84 i think because of what happened with my DD in May, I just explained I was having bad moods and bad skin & was concerned my hormones hadn’t gone back to normal.
so on Thursday they will test my blood for hormone levels & atleast I will know if things are ok?
I didnt really mention anything about TTC x

allgoodthings84 · 25/08/2022 13:08

Hopefully we will get some bfp here at the weekend!

if I ovulate same time as last cycle my peak will be on a day when I can’t opk test! I’m at a wedding. I can test first thing in morning but then not until the next day. I always peak late afternoon/evening 🤦‍♀️ I have a quick surge so may miss it completely as likely to be low on the morning of peak then low again next morning sakes. If I miss it I’ll just have to for every other day until CD22 just in case. I know it won’t be later than that

allgoodthings84 · 25/08/2022 13:09

Dtd every other day that meant

allgoodthings84 · 25/08/2022 13:11

@NSx ahhh maybe if I just asked for bloods it would have been quicker. I wouldn’t understand the results though so definitely want to talk it over with someone. I think if I’ve got any issues it’s a hormone imbalance too because if the spotting I have before AF every cycle.

NSx · 25/08/2022 13:16

@allgoodthings84 well when my results come back I’m going to ask them what it means for me with regards to TTC.
so when I go on Thursday I’ll ask the nurse exactly what I’m being tested for. I have a rough idea anyways working in a Drs office what type of things I’ll be tested for. I’ve never had any bloods done at the gp’s - only at the hospital and nothing has been flagged, but I just need some reassurance really that all is well and I can go ahead and conceive without issues 🤞✨

NatGee · 25/08/2022 13:44

@NSx you don't have to feel anything. All the spots should be an encouraging sign your progesterone is hopefully at the right levels too. Good luck with the appointment xx

NSx · 25/08/2022 13:51

@NatGee i hope you’re right - thanks so much. We just over think everything don’t we, like if ttc doesn’t happen after a month or 2 u start to panic something is wrong 😩😩😩😩 x

NatGee · 25/08/2022 13:54

@NSx absolutely sympathise and share the sentiment. When we didn't fall cycle #1 we took all the tests. I am really hopeful there will be lots of bfps on this thread soon. Crossing everything for you, and for us all xx

EdinburghGirl1 · 25/08/2022 14:00

@allgoodthings84 you never know you might catch the peak on a different day. If you DTD every other day around that time anyway you'll be covered

NSx · 25/08/2022 15:03

@NatGee i don’t think people realise how mentally exhausting ttc is - it’s not easy! ✨💕 baby dust to everyone here, hoping for BFP’s across the board

allgoodthings84 · 25/08/2022 15:21

@NSx i bet you’re fine but as you say it will be less stressful knowing for sure

@EdinburghGirl1 I’m hoping so. It was a short cycle this time (which I knew when I ovulated that it would be) so it might happen later with any luck. It won’t be earlier I know that. It’s weird as my cycles were always 26/27 days with the very odd 25 or 28 day thrown in but in the 3 cycles since ttc I’ve had a 25 day, a 33 day (covid) and a 24 day cycle. Hopefully it will go back to 26/27 days this cycle so I won’t miss the peak. It would be a massive coincidence if my cycles changed to be shorter all the time at the exact same time as I started ttc

NatGee · 25/08/2022 15:32

@NSx i will take the one a little further, and say that even partners sometimes don't fully grasp the energy it takes to ttc. Yes, sure, they participate in dtd but once theyre done thats it. Don't get me wrong my DH is very supportive and understanding but I dont think things play on his mind as much as they do on mine. Just BBTing everyday is already a chore, one he doesnt have to worry about... sigh

NSx · 25/08/2022 15:44

@allgoodthings84 i hope u are right but atleast I will know for sure 🤞💕😛
@NatGee 100% - our partners get the easier side of it. They don’t have apps’ pee on sticks, bbt etc - it’s very stressful x

Mum2DD89 · 25/08/2022 17:38

Hi ladies, sorry, had to take a few days off as was getting into a bad place with my anxiety.. all of this TTC nonsense is getting in my head!

5dpo today, no symptoms to speak of but thats to be expected.. sore boobs I guess but I know that's the progesterone. I just have no idea how to stop obsessing over every little thing and it's driving me crazy!

@NatGee you're right on the partner front, mine is the same as yours, tries to be supportive and understanding but can't actually comprehend the toll it takes mentally having it on your mind all of the time. Even knowing I've ovulated doesn't take the pressure off as I still have to temp and now watch my caffeine and alcohol intake as well as what I eat 🙄

Hope everyone is feeling OK, who is due to test next?

@Aurora81 I'm so sorry, how are you doing today?

NatGee · 25/08/2022 17:52

@Mum2DD89 welcome back, nice to see you on here again! oh i know what you mean were now watching our bodies so closely arent. anything you can do or plan on doing to take you rmind off it?

fsr111 · 25/08/2022 18:22

@Mum2DD89, totally understand you, i hope you're OK lovely. I feel very similar. I can't stop thinking about it, symptom spotting and googling everything even though I know it's too soon for anything tangible. It's like it's well and truly in my head and nothing can really get it out. My DH is a bit more understanding now. A couple of months back he was approaching it entirely practically / scientifically and really I just wanted him to give me a hug! I also think it's different for the DHs because whilst it absolutely affects them when the baby is here, they don't have to think about things like their job and planning for that kind of thing too. Sending baby dust to everyone, here's hoping for some good news 🤞

allgoodthings84 · 25/08/2022 20:42

@Mum2DD89 i hope you’re ok, it’s definitely more stressful for us. I doubt a day goes by without us all thinking and worrying about it many many times. I don’t think it’s a reality to the men until the baby arrives.

One if my partners best mate baby is due next month and I know he wishes it was him even though 9 months ago we weren’t ttc. I think him being the last of his close mates to have a baby made him realise how much he wants it. He always thought he would have kids by 25/26 when he was in his early 20s but didn’t want kids with either of his previous relationships. He’s 32 now and it’s just feels so right for us both

NSx · 25/08/2022 22:04

I can’t help spotting symptoms — 🆘😂
I’m actually annoying myself now 😭😭😭😩😩
every twinge in my body 😂 pls tell me ur all the same.

NatGee · 25/08/2022 22:26

@NSx the struggle is real!! Hang in there you can do this, not long to go til you know for sure xxx

NSx · 25/08/2022 22:36

@NatGee funny thing is I know I’m not or atleast I think I’m not, im confident about it, but still don’t want to test to get that BFN 😂😂😂😄
I’m losing my marbles 🤪

EdinburghGirl1 · 26/08/2022 15:04

Ok I caved and decided to just do and cheapie tests and was bfn. I totally expected it though so I'm ok as hadn't really gotten my hopes up. At least I know now and can just kinda forget about it all for the next few days

Aurora81 · 26/08/2022 15:04

Hi ladies,
CD 1 for me so it does look like I ovulated cd 12. I don't know what to think about the massive dip in my chart... So that must have been 12dpo, as my cycle always arrives on 15dpo which becomes cd 1 🧐the temp did try to come back up, but it was too close to AF and my spotting had gotten heavier.

Hope you are all okay, and hoping that you will get good news soon ✨. My friend who is a homeopath give me a progesterone and oestrogen balance remedy which she wants me to try this cycle. If that doesn't work I'll contact the fertility homeopath.

NSx · 26/08/2022 15:22

@EdinburghGirl1 the cheap IC tests are not v good for early detection so u might not be out have u tried a frer? I’m so sorry the cheapie was negative but it’s still early 10dpo. 🤞✨

@Aurora81 im so sorry 😭 I was convinced this was it for u this month 😩💔 how u feeling ?
im 11dpo not testing yet as don’t want BFN, but booked for bloods next week to check hormone levels x

EdinburghGirl1 · 26/08/2022 15:24

@NSx Nono haven't. I have one in the cupboard but don't really want to waste it. I'll just leave it for now and if no AF by Wednesday I'll test again

Aurora81 · 26/08/2022 15:25

@NSx I think implantation tried to happen but it was too late as my lining was beginning to shed. I think 13 dpo is a good time to test! 😊 Fx for you ✨
