SMEP - anyone giving this a try this month and want to join me?

New to mumsnet 🙋‍♀️ and I've seen loads of threads where everyone is so lovely and supportive so thought I'd post. This is our 4th cycle ttc #2, 1st cycle giving SMEP a try as I've seen so many success stories. With our first, we got so lucky and ended up pregnant on our first month trying so this waiting is a bit of a shock, although I know out 1st was the exception not the norm! Would love to hear any success stories, or any other ladies that want to compare notes this month x

@Aurora81 thank u 💜 he’s still at the hospital we won’t know how he fully is until his bloods are drawn tomorrow but so far things are looking good, I’m just hoping he hasn’t done any permanent damage to himself.

finally got that static smiley , 3 flashy and then my static on the 4th day. We DTD yesterday morning so will go again tonight and then tomorrow morning if I can wake up 😂😅 fx

@fsr111 I have 1 already, a 7 year old with my ex husband but now ttc #2 with my partner. He has no children so I really hope I’m not too old/late

Looks like lots of us in 2ww now. I’m not testing before AF due as would rather not see a negative. I know most people prefer to test early though. I don’t even have any tests in the house and won’t buy any unless I get to day of AF at the end of working day with nothing then I’ll go buy a pack for the following morning

@allgoodthings84 thank u I miss him terribly and my other cat is looking for him constantly I feel awful for her 😭 can’t wait until he’s out tomorrow If everything goes to plan 😩 …

I should ovulate tomorrow so I will be going into the 2WW on Tuesday 😅 the longest wait in history 🥹

@NSx oh bless her I bet she’s wondering where her friend is. I know it’s really hard when they have to stay in overnight especially more than one. I’ll be hoping for you.

yep the 2ww feels like mental and emotional torture! I find the first but so much easier emotionally even though it’s more tiring 😂. This month I’m not going to be thinking any symptoms are anything at all as I was so disappointed last month as felt so different but AF still came along so I know mentally there’s no point. So far these 4 days have been easier thinking like this but then again I don’t think I’ve felt anything so that’s helped 😂. I know it’s too early for real symptoms but didn’t stop me the previous 2 cycles ttc ha

@allgoodthings84 i think I’m going into my 2WW thinking the worst, that way if I get a BFP I’ll be surprised and happy instead of upset 🥹
tbh I’ve followed the SMEP to the T so I can’t really do much more, if it’s negative this month then I guess it just wasn’t meant to be 😅🤣🙁

I hope I get good news tomorrow and I can go pick my ginger baby up 😭 🐱 my house feels so quiet without him 🥲

@NSx thats what I’m doing from now on. Not in a pessimistic way I’m just not going to build my hopes up again. That’s what upset me the most as I really was so sure I was pregnant. I still want to enjoy life while ttc not be getting upset at the end of every cycle. I was fine the first cycle as wasn’t expecting it to happen first time and it was so much easier emotionally. We do all we can then it’s out of our hands and when it’s the right time for us we will all get our bfp.

@NSx i bet you miss him so much. At least you know he’s being looked after really well

@allgoodthings84 yea I think when it doesn’t happen you’ve built your hopes up and then you’re crushed, especially if you believe you’ve finally got that BFP but then u get a BFN instead - it drains u emotionally 😭 … I’m going to not try to test Im just going to monitor my BBT and see what happens.

yes I miss him so much, I just hope he’s ok and we get him back tomorrow, the nurse said he really doesn’t want to be there and he’s so scared/hasn’t eaten much 😭 so I just want to get him back asap

@NSx that sounds a great idea and hopefully you get a bonus surprise at the end 😊

@allgoodthings84 i noticed that my temp dropped 2 days before AF last cycle so I’ll just wait and hope that my temp doesn’t go down 😂😅

yea I cried when I heard, he’s a wee soul I feel awful for him, but I’m hoping he’s fine and we can get him home tomorrow - can’t wait to give him a squeeze 😭🐱❤️‍🩹

Just did my OPK and got yet another flashing smile. That's now my 3rd one so look is like I'm gearing up slowly for ovulation. CD 11 today so maybe last month was just a blip as it will be at least CD13 for me this month. Can only hope it's a good thing

@allgoodthings84 that sounds like a good plan not to have any tests around. Seems like you've got a good mindset this tww. I will most definitely try to be the same. I was fine last month for the first week but then I had really thought I could be. It really is like torture. The guys don't have to deal with any of this stuff.

@allgoodthings84 - that's a brilliant mindset to have (and impressive willpower!) I don't have any tests in the house at the moment, but imagine I will cave at the weekend. I booked some annual leave around the weekend, so have a long 4 day-er to enjoy. Just need to make sure OH and I stay busy so I'm not twiddling my thumbs/thinking about it, and somehow have to get through this week at work...

@allgoodthings84 I've noticed a pattern this morning I thought might be interesting, this is the first month I've plotted my RHR on my temp chart and can actually see when my temp is high my heart rate is higher and vice versa, how funny!

@Mum2DD89 no I got my 3rd flashing smiley so body is taking a bit longer to gear up for it this month. Presuming tomorrow although half tempted to do one tonight and see what it says

@EdinburghGirl1 that's great that your cycle has improved ✨ keep an eye on your opks, as I had a high and peak reading in one day. I think I am going to start SMEP next cycle on cd7, and do CD 7, 9, 11, and so on...

@Aurora81 thanks. Something had definitely shifted. Really hope it's a positive thing. Might just take one tonight then in case like you it peaks tonight

48 hours without tea... the struggle is real...going to make myself a cup of Pukka revitalise to help ease the transition.

@EdinburghGirl1 yeah, once I got a high reading on the cheapie opk as well I knew it would peak quickly and I didn't want to miss it.

@Mum2DD89 I wanted to do the same re heart rate but the strap of my watch decided to break.. Gonna have to see how I can fix it. Acupuncturists can tell by your heart rate if you are pregnant 😊

@EdinburghGirl1 @dobby13 yep it’s hard to not test but I want to try and not think about it until AF due. I can get quite emotional on the inside but hide it to the outside which makes it even worse. If it’s going to take a long time I need to be careful

@Mum2DD89 now that is so interesting! Confirmed to me that keeping my eye of resting heart rate can confirm my ovulation

@Aurora81 that’s all we can do is try our best and try not to let it take over our lives which is so hard to balance

@Aurora81 I applaud you. I'm careful of my caffeine intake but still having 1-2 cups of coffee or tea a day. I'm not sure I could cut it out completely.

@allgoodthings84 ttc definitely makes you emotional and I'm a very emotional person anyway. I also have no patience 😂

I’m a bit concerned as my resting heart rate dropped from 62 to 61 today. I’m only 5dpo so shouldn’t be AF yet but my resting HR NEVER drops at all until just before AF in fact at this stage it’s still going up. It’s above what I was before ovulation but it’s never dropped yet before so it’s worrying me if i didn’t ovulate properly but seems a bit late to drop if it’s that. Sakes why can’t it always be the same 😂

I’m usually at 63bmp at this stage but in the follicular phase it’s usually 58/59bpm whereas this cycle it was 56bmp so that but makes sense but not sure why I’ve dropped now

@Aurora81 I’m 5dpo as far as I know from LH tests, EWCM and my heart rate went up again after that.
