Hi ladies, we're onto thread 5! I'm afraid I've completely lost track of the list since I took a break off Mumsnet.... so let's make an updated one!

Roll call for those

  • TTC graduates.... pregnant ladies who are you and when are you due? Hope you're all doing well
  • Actively trying.... what cycle are we all in? Any particular plans for this next one?
  • Waiting to TTC.... what month are you planning on starting?

@Nypie DH talked me down from the really expensive vitamins. I'm taking pregnacare and then additional b6, c and e. I would like to take coq10 and an amino acid (cant remember what it's called), but DH talked me down from adding those until the start of the next cycle as they are very expensive ones! I also need to try and destress and cut sugar from my diet but those 2 will be easier said than done! With 2 kids and a stressful job my stress levels are pretty high and I am a stress eater so snack on all sorts of junk I shouldn't do 🙈

@LucyLoopyLu sorry about the BFN. Be kind to yourself. My 'treat' to myself every cycle when I get a BFN or have a chemical is to do something I couldn't do pregnant e.g. I went to a theme park after my first chemical pregnancy, made full use of the free bar at a friends wedding the next cycle and ate things I can't eat pregnant, then this time I've booked a spa break and will make full use of the sauna, steam room and jacuzzi since I wouldn't be able to do that pregnant!

@Tropicana1 I can see that line! Whispering congratulations! X

@WingingIt09 thank you - anxiety is high right now!

@LucyLoopyLu thanks - really hoping yours is just around the corner

Nypie · 09/08/2022 08:35

@WingingIt09 might be worth trying proceive when you run out as it has all of those things...I dont know your budget and I guess with 2 kids it must be harder to make certain purchases but its £25 I got a code from holland and Barratts so I'm sure you can find a discount some where.
I'm also a stress eater, quite a few people rely on me for my job and where looking for a house so I'm struggling here! Been doing yoga on youtube and trying to remind myself of whats actually important.

@Tropicana1 I see it aswell! Really hoping it gets darker for you!

@Nypie I'll probably stick with taking them separately as the doses I'm taking are higher than those in the multi-vitamins. Have you read 'it all starts with the egg'? It evaluates all the different supplements for what is evidence based and then gives various plans depending on what your circumstances are. It was quite an interesting read (but then I'm a nerd and all the research and evidence base appeals to me).

I think today is ovulation day, given my EWCM is calming down and cramps the last few days! Don’t know for sure as haven’t been testing!

I’m CD15… we’ve dtd CD9,11,12,13,14! Day off today I think even though it’s ovulation day as don’t think my OH will get my subtle hints tonight too and he hates the pressure! Going to try get him to dtd CD16&18&20 incase we are a few days out and then I think we’ve covered it!

Prays that cycle 6 is our one 🤞🏼🤞🏼

LucyLoopyLu · 09/08/2022 11:52

@Bananatoast123 definitely sounds like you've covered it! Wishing you lots of luck for this cycle 💙

@Tropicana1 @WingingIt09 thanks both, I think I just need a good cry and a couple of days once my period comes and my hormones settle I will probably feel better.

I have been using some vitamins called Ovum which is meant to be based on what they recommend in "it starts with the egg". They are meant to be very good but they are pretty pricy (£40 per month). I've been taking them all year but not sure if I want to carry on spending so much now. It's hard to know if they're making a difference. But at the same time giving up now feels like it would waste all the money I've already spent on them. I have about 3 weeks worth left anyway so don't have to decide right now

Bananatoast123 · 09/08/2022 12:35

@LucyLoopyLu thank you I’m definitely hoping so or I might start to lose positivity now! 🤣

@Tropicana1 @WingingIt09 @LucyLoopyLu I’ve had the same thoughts on vitamins as this all! I’m just using a multi vitamin which gives me everything I need but I’m starting to also wonder if I separate it out and buy the vitamins as their own supplement! So unsure!

@WingingIt09 I’m similar in terms of stress too! I noticed I had shorter periods when I’ve had a stressful month and I feel off… so this month I’ve been trying to do stuff to help ease my cortisol levels (easier said than done especially if you have kids)! I went for a Swedish back massage last Friday (just before ovulation) and I properly felt the stress being relieved in my lower back / near my ovaries! I was so surprised! I also usually get digestive problems around ovulation and this is the first month I’ve not! I’m going again on Friday for a shorter one but thought it might help implantation (if we’ve even been that successful)! It’s expensive though and might not work at all but I’m fortunate that I’ve asked for vouchers for my birthday but it might be something to try and give you some Me time??

LucyLoopyLu · 09/08/2022 12:42

Yeah it's so hard to know with supplements isn't it! You don't know if they are working or not and even if you do see differences it could just be a placebo effect... if that is the case with these ones then it's an expensive placebo effect!

The massage sounds absolutely heavenly. Stress surely must be a factor when TTC - de-stressing is easier said than done though

Bananatoast123 · 09/08/2022 12:45

@LucyLoopyLu I agree with vitamins! The only thing I’ve seen in the last 6 months is that my cycles and ovulation day is slowly regulating so it makes me want to not stop taking these ones!!

I think it is a big factor! Mines definitely just been life like moving house, work, covid etc etc! I sometimes stress that I’m stressed ha knowing it’ll impact my cycle! But it’s helped this month to feel a little more human, even if it’s short-lived!

SVC11 · 09/08/2022 13:09

Totally and utterly confused, temp back up, bleeding totally stopped, no cramps, and this came up and didn't before.... Can I hope or am I fooling myself ? This is 12dpo now... I definitely would have had my period by now as have shorter cycles.

Tropicana1 · 09/08/2022 13:11

I've been using pregnacare conception, then also high strength vit D, high strength vic C for my luteal phase and then this month I added in additional 400mcg folic acid so total 800 as I read a study where at least 800mcg increased successful conception rates

Tropicana1 · 09/08/2022 13:15

@SVC11 a little spotting can be normal in early pregnancy!! Keeping everything crossed that's what it is!

LucyLoopyLu · 09/08/2022 13:28

@SVC11 I have no expertise but sounds like good signs to me. Was the bleeding enough to be like a period? Keeping my fingers crossed for you 🤞

WingingIt09 · 09/08/2022 13:33

@Bananatoast123 I'm hoping the spa day on Friday will help and it's nicely timed as I'm probably due to ovulate on Saturday

@SVC11 I think a little spotting around time AF is due can be normal so fingers crossed for you!

Bananatoast123 · 09/08/2022 13:39

@WingingIt09 sounds glorious!

Nypie · 09/08/2022 13:50

@WingingIt09 understandable! I honestly have trouble just taking 1 tablet each day so this is definitely for me. Really hoping to see changes ib my cycle and less eractic temp next month so I'll keep you updated and you the same!

@SVC11 I've heard spotting and cramping is very normal in early pregnancy...all you can do is try to destress (I know) and test but not too often! Best of luck!

Nypie · 09/08/2022 13:54

@LucyLoopyLu have you noticed any changes using ovum? Love that its female founded. Must be such a hard decision really hope you bfp is on its way

Dreamingof3 · 09/08/2022 14:02

@SVC11 sounds promising, keeping my fingers crossed for you xx

@WingingIt09 ooh a spa day sounds amazing ❤️

I've been prescribed cyclizine today, really hoping it helps as I feel horrendous 24/7 😞..... definitely a girl 🤣

dearhummingbirds · 09/08/2022 14:11

Got my fingers crossed for you @SVC11 ! Does look / sound promising.

EdinburghGirl1 · 09/08/2022 14:26

Hi all sorry just catching up on this thread.

@SarahShorty I'm sorry you've had this news. TTC really can be tough. Wishing you lots of luck this cycle and at least you've got a plan B in place if needed.

@Nypie sorry to hear about your bfn

@AJAO welcome. Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. This is a lovely group and it's so nice to be able to talk to others in similar situations

@Bananatoast123 ooh ovulation day! fingers crossed for you this cycle. Looks like you've got it covered and no harm doing tomorrow too. A massage is always a good one for stress relief and good to get some self care and me time.

@Tropicana1 I didn't know that about the 800mg Folic Acid.

@SVC11 this looks promising for you. Keeping everything crossed for you.

I'm CD 5 now and just looking forward to fertile week approaching. Will start OPK on Thursday as had peak CD10 last cycle so want to make sure to start early

BritishDesiGirl · 09/08/2022 15:03

Hi,

Looks like an incorrect reading? Doesn’t look darker than the one above. I’d delete it and re-take the photo, personally.

WingingIt09 · 09/08/2022 15:34

@Nypie fair enough. I've got no problem taking tablets. Hopefully it'll lengthen my luteal phase. Won't be tracking BBT as I found it was stressing me out too much. Undecided about whether I do OPKs this month, would need to start tomorrow

OP posts:
Tropicana1 · 09/08/2022 15:36

@WingingIt09 I was definitely much less stressed this month without bbt / just doing opks. I find myself overanalysing every minor temp change otherwise

LucyLoopyLu · 09/08/2022 16:23

@Nypie I'm not sure about changes really. I've had a longer than average cycle and a shorter one since I started them in the new year. In general I think they might be getting slightly shorter (so ovulating earlier in cycle) but I'm not 100% sure as my cycles have never been totally regular.
One thing I do notice is it makes your wee smell like when you've eaten asparagus 🤣 I presume that's the folate

I quite like that it's three capsules a day and you can take them any time you want. Also I was convinced by the marketing / science spiel on the website but I'm far from being an expert
