A ‘no testing until period is late’ thread?

after falsely getting my hopes up with an evap last cycle, I’m determined to wait until I miss my period this time and (hopefully) get a good strong BFP rather than spending days analysing squinters!

would anyone like to join me? 🤞🏻 🍀

Just me? 😆

I'll join in theory 😂😂 would really love to wait and see if my period turns up on Friday...when are you testing?

Wouldloveanother · 12/07/2022 18:43

Oh you’re much further on than me - CD5 here! I’ve chucked away all my cheap strip tests, each time I feel tempted to buy one I’ll just remind myself of the disappointment from last month 😬 GOOD LUCK! 🍀

I really want to try and hold off testing early this month also! My AF is due Friday but seems so far away, but happy for the challenge Smile I always seem to buckle and spend so much money on tests!

Wouldloveanother · 12/07/2022 18:49

I know, it’s so tempting! I’m determined not to be analysing faint lines again, in a way even if they do go positive it’s a bit of an anticlimax if you see what I mean - then there’s the worry of ‘what if my period comes and it’s a chemical’ etc.
Would be so much better to see 2 fat lines, or better yet a digital 😉
post on here if you need a nudge!

I know exactly! Trying for a year now and got my first positive in March but then had a MC so even if it is positive, don't think the anxiety will go away...if anything I think worse but fingers crossed 🤞🏼 I have 2 FRER tests waiting for me and every morning it's tempting 🤣

Dreamingof3 · 12/07/2022 18:56

@Mulner88 af buddies 😂 or hopefully not actually!

I have loads of tests. I just can't deal with the stress. Even if I took one now it'd be well it might be negative because its too early, or if it was faint I'd be doubting it anyway so I know it's best to wait!

My2boysaremyworld · 12/07/2022 19:09

Hi can I jump on? I like to wait until AF is late. Xx

Mulner88 · 12/07/2022 19:11

@Dreamingof3 oh my gosh yeh 🤣 fingers crossed it doesn't turn up! Yeh that's very true! I always say in the days leading up to AF that I won't go lurking on MN posts, as it can get obsessive but I've buckled to that already 🙈

Dreamingof3 · 12/07/2022 19:14

@Mulner88 I'm the absolute worst. Constantly checking all my apps and symptom spotting everything 🙈

Mulner88 · 12/07/2022 19:19

@My2boysaremyworld when is your AF due/how long is your wait? I always find the 2-3 days leading up the most tempting 🙈

pcosandmex · 12/07/2022 19:42

Yup gonna try this month! Early testing brings more anxiety for me🫣🙃 I'm CD6!

My2boysaremyworld · 12/07/2022 19:44

@Mulner88 my AF isn't due until 29th so a long way yet. Cuter in my fertile week since yesterday but haven't DTD yet as it's been too hot!! Hoping can tonight but OH is working over as he's got a truck to get ready so he's probably gonna be tired xx

Mulner88 · 12/07/2022 19:55

@My2boysaremyworld that's tough, thank god my fertile window didn't end up this week 🙈

My2boysaremyworld · 12/07/2022 21:02

@Mulner88 crap isn't it!! Was meant to say currently not cuter lol xx

Nichelette · 12/07/2022 21:27

I'll join! CD8 today. Trying for a second. Only ever took 1 test with my first and held off until I was so late I was 99% sure. Was quite relaxed before but am so desperate this time it's unreal. This will be 3rd month of trying. I was 36 in May so I'm aware time isn't on my side so much..

Dreamingof3 · 13/07/2022 12:57

11dpo and still not tested 🎊 bbt is up again today. Of it stays up tomorrow and Friday then I'll test 🤞🤞

Wouldloveanother · 13/07/2022 13:00

Hi Nichelette 👋🏻 I totally get the increased obsession ttc number 2 - I’m so much less chilled than I was before!

@Dreamingof3 sounds very promising - are testing 14dpo?

OP posts:
acjohnson · 13/07/2022 13:26

I'm jumping on this one! If AF* *is late, I will be testing on 23rd July.

Goodluck Ladies!

AJ x

Dreamingof3 · 13/07/2022 13:29

@Wouldloveanother it'll be 13 dpo I think but day period is due

MarmaRell78 · 13/07/2022 13:32

I thought I would be more relaxed with no 2 and just wait until a skipped period... But I've just ordered some frer... Altho hopefully they'll take a few days which will mean more dpo.
Do you find with no2 that it's easier to make up symptoms? I feel like I know what I'm looking for this time and I can be very convincing 🤣

Wouldloveanother · 13/07/2022 17:06

it is, because you know the ‘symptoms’ you had when pregnant the first time although most of them could’ve been total coincidence! I convinced myself I was pregnant last cycle as I had the same dizziness, but obviously I wasn’t 😔

that’s the aim now - stay chilled, don’t over analyse, don’t test until period due date and save a few quid to buy myself a little gift if it’s negative.

OP posts:
Mulner88 · 13/07/2022 17:33

@Wouldloveanother that's a good idea getting yourself a gift!! Might do that myself. Although I hate to say I buckled and took a test this morning 🙈 of course it was negative but I did test a little early as I have a 32 day cycle so not giving up hope yet. I plan not to test again until AF is due! Think for next time, I'll make sure I won't have spare tests lying about as the temptation won't be there and will stop me from testing spontaneously!

Wouldloveanother · 13/07/2022 19:13

I agree about spare tests lying around - keeping busy during the day isn’t an issue but I’m most likely to buckle in the evening or first thing in the morning, so it definitely helps not to just have them in the cupboard. Plus the little strip tests are second class to the shop bought ones - I want a BFP on a good reliable test!

I was definitely imagining symptoms last month! Was desperate for a March baby literally because we have none in my family and I've always liked March as a month, but also because DS was born on 7th April and we have to wait until 1st Sept until he gets any free hours (I work FT) so didn't really fancy another April baby 😣. Anyway, it is what it is!
