I need to know the law really. I've contacted Create today. They have an open day tomorrow which I've signed up for. The Czech clinic has been recommended on one of these threads but apparently it's not the law to treat single women in the Czech Republic but it might be in Finland. I've looked at the HFEA website and they talk about double donation and donor embryos but not all clinics do it.

Would be really keen to hear from anyone who has been through this and knows.

@JulesRimetStillGleaming I'm sure you've looked everywhere but I found fertility friends a really useful site

Thank you. No I haven't really. I've been TTC with a private donor for several years and then my Plan b was adoption but I'm suddenly having doubts that I'm ready to give up on pregnancy.

Sorry @Kelb79 that is so difficult. Fingers crossed things work out for you. Sometimes a tragedy can make you evaluate what's important. I hope this happens for your OH xx
@JulesRimetStillGleaming sorry can't help you with double or embryo donation but I am going to Prague on Thursday to start egg donation with husband. Happy to listen or talk. I'm sure there are loads of countries do it. Have you looked at Spain? They are certainly the leading country for fertility xx

Hi!

Could someone explain all the abbreviations? Trying to work out what's what!

I'm 43, turn 44 in September.

Feel like I've left it too late 😕

I have a 25 day average cycle and on day 10 post period get a cramping bit too early for ovulation.

Thanks 🙏

Hi everyone, could I please join this thread. I’m tcc baby number 2 at 42. I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks before Christmas. I have only just started testing for my peak and thought I’d nailed it this month with timings but getting negative frers at 10 DPO 😢 am I out of the game for this cycle?
xx

@Kelb79 unfortunately not all gp's do refer straight away, I was lucky enough to get referred after two months (referal wait was approx 9 months) of all the testing first but that's only because I kept on and requested to speak to different gp's too! I've known other people not get referred for much longer.
That really made me lol about your accidental consultation! Maybe I should do that too just not quite so accidentally 🤣
So sorry to hear about your oh's dad, it's so difficult isn't it? My oh just lost his name, we had the funeral yesterday but to be honest although he's been a nightmare to deal with (anxiety and depression don't deal well with death and he just pushes me away and gets angry) it's probably made him more enthusiastic on the ttc front! Hold on in there 🤞🏻

@oxfordinwinter85 sorry af arrived for you

@Room4onemore hi and welcome

@Bluelightbaby hi and welcome, I too got pregnant and had a mc 5 years ago with my current partner and have two teenagers which I conceived with no issues back then but since my mc we have been ttc with no luck! I'd definitely suggest going to your gp for tests if you haven't had any already and temping and opk to pinpoint your ovulation accurately if you can only dtd a limited amount of times

@DOB78 thank you but no luck so far - cd74 now and I'm going to ring the gynae secretary to see what they say!

@JulesRimetStillGleaming im afraid I don't know a lot about it as I have a partner, there is a lady on another thread I'm on that's doing solo ivf but I think she just used a sperm doner

@October1979 im so so excited for you starting your donor journey! Please do keep us updated with how it's all going!

@Winterwitch1 hi, I'll try to explain some
For you sorry if I'm explaining any you know and please ask if there's any I've missed!
Cd - cycle day
Dpo - day past ovulation
Dtd- doing the dance
Bd - baby dance
Af - Aunt Flo (period)
Opk - ovulation predictor kit
Bbt - basal body temperature
Bfn - big fat negetive
Bfp - big fat positive

Hope that helps

@Winterwitch1
Hi and welcome, sorry to hear of your mc, it doesn't necessarily put you out at 10dpo with a bfn, I really wish we could know more about what's going on it there!

@winterfox. I'll give it a go:
TTC trying to conceive
DPO days past ovulation
CD cycle day
DTD do/did the deed
BD baby dance
AF Auntie Flo (period)
OH other half
O ovulation
I'm sure there's more and if you've seen any I've missed just ask away.

Hi all

Hopefully I can join you as I'm 39, not 40, but same difference?! 😊 and TTC #2. Feel like I've left it too late and beating myself up now. We have a 2 year old and I've just been so knackered I kept putting it off...

TTC for about 6 months now. Had day 2 bloods done and doctors receptionist said they were normal but that's all the insight I've got! I have been looking at getting a fertility assessment done privately, has anyone had that done? Just feel like I need some help as otherwise this may not happen. Struggled to conceive DD for two years.

have 26 day cycles - before I had DD I had 40+ day cycles due to PCOS. Should I try taking anything to lengthen cycle etc? From what I can tell I’m ovulating at day 13. Sorry so many questions, I should know all this from last time but have literally forgotten it all!!

@WonderWoop hi and welcome! I know
How It feels to be beating yourself up but there really is very little Point!
If I were you I would call your doctors and request a copy of your blood results, that way you can check for yourself what your numbers are. You can also request other tests From your doc too rather than jumping straight into private

Hello everyone!

I'm new to this site so thought I'd say hello, I'm 42 and trying for my first baby Altho I do feel I've left it late, I've been in the mini pill for a couple of years and stopped taking it 5 weeks ago, my first period finished today which I was surprised how quick it started again after reading how long it's taken some people. I have started a couple of trackers on my phone but any other tips anyone has would be much appreciated. Thanks for reading and good luck everyone xx

Report
Marvellouslymadmum · 11/05/2022 20:13

@hells1234 hi and welcome! You may find that's a withdrawal bleed rather than a period but it may not be, mine returned pretty much straight after the pill.
A far as the tracking apps go they're really just a guide and will tell you when you should ovulate based on how long your cycles are, however everyone is different so you really need to be tracking with ovulation tests if you can, tracking your bbt will confirm ovulation too so you can get a better picture of what's going on xx

Thanks so much @Marvellouslymadmum
i have asked the doctors for the results but to get them I have to go in with ID and register for an app or something, almost impossible during work hours! But you’re definitely right it would be helpful so one for the list…

cost to do private fertility review is manageable if it gets some clarity quicker, but do you think I’d find out more through the GP?

thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate that

Marvellouslymadmum · 12/05/2022 08:51

@WonderWoop ahh yes, difficult all the hoops you have to jump through!
I wouldn't say you can find out more through your gp but it's still fairly quick and means you can save the other money towards anything else you may need to pay for

Hey lovelies!

how are you all?

@WonderWoop welcome! Definitely don’t beat yourself up! Life can’t be perfectly mapped out. I only met my OH 4 years ago and before that never met anyone I wanted to do this with. We’ve been TTC for 3 years with one MC so I constantly think I left it too late but I couldn’t change it 🤷🏼‍♀️

@hells1234 welcome!! Definitely get as much data as you can as soon as you can. We left it to “just happen naturally” for waaaay too long - I had no idea about my cycles! I can totally recommend the Premom app with easy@home ovulation test strips - start testing just after your period at first and take a photo of the test in the test section of the app - the app figures out the test results for you and tells you when to test. I tried a few different apps but only Premom got my ovulation right (had scans a couple of times that confirmed dates) BBT testing helps a CD lot too especially if your ovulation is irregular at first.

My week has been nuts!! I totally thought TTC was being put on the shelf for us while OH dealt with his Dad stuff. But he’s actually gone more towards it. I think he’s finally getting a sense of being able to shut the door on his past (his dad had caused him a lot of issues that he’s spent years trying to deal with!) and he’s really future thinking!
we BD’d at all the right times (now 3DPO) AND we’re going ahead with the IVF consult in Spain - a week on Tuesday!!!!! 😳😳😳😳

@Kelb79 oh I'm so pleased things are working out better for you! I really want to go forward with ivf in another country but I'm waiting for the last of this clomid - just incase! I am however hoping to start looking into it all now, I've no idea if I should try at least one round with my own eggs first or go straight to doner eggs though

Kelb79 · 12/05/2022 14:15

@Marvellouslymadmum ill keep you posted on my experience 👌🏼 I’ve done some research and picked IVF Spain as they’re supposed to be among the best in the world - plus the airport 10 minutes away from me flies to Alicante where they have a clinic! Convenient 😉
the consultation includes a pile of tests to figure out our best course of action do I haven’t even thought about donor eggs etc until I see what they say. It’s €200 for the consultation which includes a lot of the tests then extra tests cost a little more on top. But they also do an online consult for €150 and you get your tests organised privately at your own expense 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

@Kelb79 sounds amazing! Yes definitely let me know how you get on! Maybe that's what I should do, book a consultation with a clinic then decide which way to go. It's such a minefield trying to google for info!

Hi everyone that's me back from Prague. All tests went well. OHs SA was excellent so they have frozen it and will use to fertilise once we identify donor. Apparently frozen sperm is just as effective as fresh. I have all the drugs back with me too ready to start as soon as we identify a donor. Exciting times xxx
