@Amber17

Happy birthday *@Dreamingof3*!

Enjoy your steak and cider @lj2022 - I'm planning a weekend of Prosecco, a very hot bath, and contemplating what other forbidden things I can indulge in before I can't!

I've just realised we've been invited to 3 weddings this summer, if we get lucky first cycle I'll be somewhere between 6 and 11 weeks for them all - does anyone fall for the antibiotic excuse any more??

@Dreamingof3 Happy birthday for yesterday!

@Amber17 Glasses tend to be everywhere at wedding venues, so I'd just accept the champagne, pretend to drink it then lose your glass later. When I worked at a wedding venue we had a lot of women in early pregnancy drinking tonic water or Appetiser in a champagne flute. If someone said they were on antibiotics I would totally assume they were pregnant!

I've been trying to convince DH to come on a cocktail bar tour of the UK., because I might not have too much longer of drinking, and I will miss cocktails

itsnearlymytime · 14/04/2022 13:56

How's everyone getting on??

we DTD on the 9th April
Then partner had to go away :(

Ovulated yesterday
Is 4 days too long ? Is there still a chance ?

Summerbreeze111 · 14/04/2022 15:31

Hi all, looking for some advice!

We were planning to start ttc next month, ovulation would fall around the 15th May, however, I have just arranged the nearest appointment I could get for a smear test on the 13th May. I cant see any problems with having it done but should I hold off ttc until I get the results back incase I need any follow up? I was told results would be 10-14 days, so I would definately miss the fertile period.

For reference I am 31 I am not sure if this has any bearing whatsoever on the answer but thought I would throw it out there!

Easter Smile
HeathenPlayingHouse · 14/04/2022 15:51

CD22 and I started bleeding again. Im getting so annoyed Angry

Duckandsarah · 14/04/2022 19:49

@HeathenPlayingHouse is it an ovulation bleed? Or heavier?

@lj2022 I’m so glad you saw your dr and got some help. I definitely think it forces them to listen if you have prepared evidence.

@Summerbreeze111 I don’t think I would delay for that, as there’s only a really really small chance a smear would come back positive anyway… go with your gut.

Definitely not using an antibiotic excuse. I use the driving excuse or a diet. Or the fact my hangovers last approximately 90 days these days 😂. Feel so old haha

LucyLoopyLu · 14/04/2022 20:22

Hi all!
I think I have read all through the thread since I went away, now back from our holiday.
Technically we were "trying" but 99% sure missed ovulation so I'm expecting to get my period over the weekend - although weirdly didn't get EWCM this month and I pretty much always do, so maybe didn't ovulate at all.
Getting pregnant in May would be ideal but trying not to get my hopes up too much. I've got a lot of excellent food, cocktails and wine out of my system on holiday so just going to rein it in and get back to healthy eating again now!

Nypie · 14/04/2022 20:30

@itsnearlymytime I believe sperm can survive for 5 days! 🤞🤞
@Summerbreeze111 I personally wouldn't wait theres only a chance you they'll find something and even if they do theres an even smaller chance that it'll be cancerous. Obviously go with your gut and you can ask a professional if you're worried they'll be able to advise you better!
@HeathenPlayingHouse sorry it's so early! Has that happened before?
@LucyLoopyLu 👋👋 hope you had a good time and glad to hear you've got it our of your system! Fingers crossed for May or even sooner!

itsnearlymytime · 14/04/2022 20:32

@Nypie thanks lovely! Really got my fingers crossed this time but don't feel too positive! Praying some sperm survived and were ready to meet the egg

HeathenPlayingHouse · 14/04/2022 20:36

@Duckandsarah @Nypie Thanks both.

It was heavier than an ovulation bleed, and bright red. It's gone back to spotting again but I won't be surprised if it comes back. Up til now AF has been stupidly long but eventually stopped with the Tranexamic and Mefanamic acid pills, but this cycle it's like I've built up a tolerance?

So if I stop taking them, I start bleeding again.

LucyLoopyLu · 14/04/2022 22:15

@Nypie thanks! Fingers crossed indeed!

@HeathenPlayingHouse sorry you're having a tough time, hope you're ok

lj2022 · 14/04/2022 22:24

@Duckandsarah Thankyou it was so refreshing having someone who actually took me seriously! Going to try some herbal remedies in the meantime

@Summerbreeze111 I definitely wouldn't put it off as even if in the tiny chance there is something unusual there is a massive wait for follow ups at the moment for HPV. I have 2 friends waiting 18 months for follow up screenings, by that time you could have conceived and had a baby. I never waiting for mines and so glad now I didn't put off as everything came back okay anyway.

Brightonbelle87 · 15/04/2022 22:24

@Summerbreeze111 I had a smear test two weeks ago, about 3 days before ovulation and the gp said its better to have it done before pregnancy. My results were thankfully clear and now don't need to have one for 3 years. Good luck, it can be painful x

Dreamingof3 · 16/04/2022 19:14

Hope everyone's doing OK! Anyone due to test soon/got any symptoms?!

We were at a concert last night and I'm really feeling my age today 🤣 far too long on my feet!

itsnearlymytime · 16/04/2022 19:25

@Dreamingof3 I'm 3dpo, wait is killing me 😂😂

HeathenPlayingHouse · 16/04/2022 19:26

@Dreamingof3 Sounds fun, who did you see?

I'm CD24, my tracker says 5DPO but I'm not expecting anything to come of it. Mainly because I'm still bleeding, in fact I'm going to have to cancel my smear on Tuesday and speak to the GP again- I know she doesn't think it's a real problem, but how do they expect me to have my smear done if the bleeding never stops?

Plus I've got a stinking cold, not sure if it would affect implantation but I'm sure it's not exactly helpful.

Dreamingof3 · 16/04/2022 19:32

@itsnearlymytime oh noo...when do you think you'll test?

@HeathenPlayingHouse I hope they can figure out what's going on! Must be a nightmare for you.

We saw Bastille, was so so so good

itsnearlymytime · 16/04/2022 19:34

@Dreamingof3 I think Wednesday but I am sooo nervous, only DTD 3/4 days before ovulation as partner went away so not feeling very confident x

WingingIt09 · 16/04/2022 21:19

@Dreamingof3 CD2 here, my period arrived early again so now looking like 25 day cycles now. Rules out starting this cycle as my period is due on holiday 🙄 we're going to Disneyland Paris and I want to go on rides guilt free. I'd worry if I was pregnant that it might cause a miscarriage. Trying to decide whether to start in May or not, with my periods getting shorter potential due date has moved forward. If we start trying in May would now be due 9th-11th Feb. There's a date at the end of January I really want to avoid baby being born on as it's a sensitive date for my family... with those due dates id be 38 weeks pregnant on it. I was induced for both my girls at 40 weeks and 42 weeks so fully expect to go over but I'm nervous at the idea of being 'full term' around that January date. Desperate to start TTC though so don't know what to do 🙁

Dreamingof3 · 16/04/2022 21:39

Oh @WingingIt09 I can understand why that's a tough call to make! I'm not sure what I'd do in that position. I think I'd try anyway....you never know how long it'll take and then the liklihood of you having the baby on that date would be quite small?

I had a somewhat similar thought in avoiding a particular Feb date as its the date of my miscarriage, but I decided that what will be will be and if it did happen to fall on the same date then maybe it would give it a new meaning (I get that's not always the case though so fully understand if that's not how it might feel for you ❤️)

I know what you mean about Disney land too! I'd definitely want to go on rides and wouldn't do that pregnant.

I'm still waiting for ovulation this cycle (cd14 atm so probably not for a few more days) and then see where that will put my next period and hoping to try after that 🤞

WingingIt09 · 16/04/2022 21:48

Yes, I think the likelihood of baby being born on that date is so slim, especially as I have a history of going overdue and have never spontaneously gone into labour... I'm tempted to risk it. We've always been lucky enough to fall pregnant first month trying (3x so far) so I feel like if we do try, chances are high we will get pregnant. It's not so much me, as I think baby will end up born at end of Feb anyway. I just know my family will make it all about that and be like 'oh baby better not be born on X days' 'it'll upset Y if baby arrives then'. And I know they'll do that as I was told to avoid going into labour (told to sit still and not move, and to cross my legs if it did happen 🙄) the day before my due date with DD2 because it was a similarly sensitive date.

OP posts:
Nypie · 16/04/2022 23:22

Aw sorry @WingingIt09 I'm sure they don't mean to be hurful but it sucks that your family would treat you like that!
Personaly I'm not letting anything stop me not christmas, not being 9 months in the heat of summer, not it being inconvinent for work. But I am quite worried that it might take a while. If I already had 2 and both pregnancy were first try I'd probably wait for the most convinient date.

WingingIt09 · 17/04/2022 22:51

Thanks @Dreamingof3 and @Nypie after yet another long conversation with DH we've decided not to let my family's stupid comments from stopping us starting to TTC. Feb works best for us for every reason but that one and chances of baby being born on one date that I'll be about 38 weeks pregnant for is slim. That's if we even fall pregnant first cycle.... so we're officially starting next cycle now 🙊

@HippeePrincess I wouldn’t say I’m a massive drinker, but I guess it’s all relative! Usually a glass of wine or two at the weekend, a beer if the weathers like it has been, and I’ll have a night out every couple of months.

@Nypie Ha! Well we’ve got a few months to try and psych ourselves up anyway.

Enjoyed reading everyone’s comments on their boozed fuelled conceptions! Haha. Maybe I’ll try to cut down on the night out binges nearer the time Grin

@WingingIt09 I definitely agree with you and your DH’s choice to not wait if you want to start to TTC. Do what is best for you!

LemonZestDribbles · 18/04/2022 07:33

Is there room for one more in your getting ready to ttc gang? My dh and are I have entered into negotiations for baby number 2. He said let's start early 2023 but I've cut that down to officially trying this month 🤣 he keeps looking at our wild toddler and saying "a second one, really??"
Last time I was ttc I made such a good bunch of friends. It was lovely seeing everyone get their bfps

@WingingIt09 great choice to go for it! Some family members will always focus on daft things like sensitive dates or names. At the end of the day it's your choice as a couple. Disneyland Paris sounds fun! I wouldn't have the ride bother as I'm too wimpy to go on anything hehe

@Dreamingof3 sorry about your mc ❤

@nypie I'm the same as you. Last time I was freaking out about Christmas etc but then ttc took so long (or at least it felt that way, it was only really 6 months) that I don't really care this time. Just want to be pregnant ASAP

WingingIt09 · 18/04/2022 08:11
