@theonlyexception1 huge congratulations! Mints and salt and vinegar crisps were my go to!
I can't speak from experience regarding the spotting but I know it can be very normal. I'd also assume if it was a bad sign then your tests wouldn't have got darker, and those are lovely dark lines 😍

@Vasectomyreversalhopeful I'm using my fitness pal at the moment too. Lost 3lbs last week! Rubbish time of year for dieting though, lots of birthdays, Easter and then a night away 🤦‍♀️

Brightonbelle87 · 30/03/2022 21:26

Congratulations @TheOnlyException1! So exciting, are we at 3BFPs?

DanceWithYourBalloon · 30/03/2022 21:57

@TheOnlyException1 Congratulations!
I had almost exactly what you've described in my last pregnancy.
A few days before AF was due I experienced brown spotting (only enough to wipe). I was convinced period was coming but got two lines instead.
I also had it a couple more times leading up to about 7 weeks. All was fine.

TheOnlyException1 · 30/03/2022 21:58

Thank you! I took a digital ClearBlue test just to be extra sure tonight, and it said Pregnant 1-2 weeks! Spotting has also mostly cleared up today, so hopefully all good! Now to read everything I can find on what to expect when pregnant!

Jennifer89 · 30/03/2022 22:05

@TheOnlyException1 Congrats! Smile

tryingtryinggone · 30/03/2022 22:58

@Duckandsarah yes, she’s just coming up to 18 months. Time has gone so fast!

@TheOnlyException1 I basically lived on ginger biscuits and cream crackers for the first 10 weeks. They were the only things I could stomach really. And then around 10 weeks I woke up with no nausea and that was it. Haha

Nypie · 31/03/2022 15:36

@rosecbrm ohh such similar situations! Its a bit awkward with the Zika virus I didn't even realise you couldn't even try after you left I thought it was just for pregnant women. But hey glad to have another buddy! Are you trying for your first?

@dearhummingbirds South America for us and soo excited. I know what you mean about not putting your life on hold! Trying to plan a girls holiday for September but now thinking of fertile days and having to avoid zika once again...such a faff. Where were you thinking?

The maternity cover is very awkward I have a permenant part time role with the company and will be covering her maternity as another part time role with same company (job share). Tbh I'm thinking soley of myself I dont know when/if she'll come back from maternity leave when she does I'll probably leave to find a singilar full time role as its all a bit complicated. Best case scenario she comes back from her maternity and I go on mine 😂😂

dearhummingbirds · 31/03/2022 16:04

@Nypie Amazing! I’m sure you’ll have a great time. Zika is such a strange one. I think cases have reduced in South America since 2016. But good to precautious!
We were thinking Australia and/or New Zealand - I’ve got close family in both countries and my DP hasn’t been before.

That does sounds complicated! But I definitely would just be selfish, especially if you think you might move on afterwards anyway.

dearhummingbirds · 31/03/2022 16:07

Oh and my AF came along today. We haven’t been TTC, but it was two weeks late. Was thinking about getting a pregnancy test this morning, but I’ve been assuming it was just due to covid as the vaccines always messed it up too. Such a strange side effect of the virus! At least the medical profession have started acknowledging it more.

lj2022 · 31/03/2022 20:49

My SIL just told us she's pregnant and I'm over the moon but also a little sad because I just want it to be me. We came off contraception the exact same week and my periods regulated right away and hers never. Is it normal to feel a little upset even when only been trying a few months. I don't feel jealous and I'm so excited and happy but also feel emotional 😭 I can only imagine how hard it must be seeing pregnancy announcements for people going through infertility if this is how I feel only 4 months in

rosecbrm · 31/03/2022 21:25

@Nypie I know I didn't realise too until reading about it, it's 3 months isn't it? Exciting that you are going to South America though! We are going to the Caribbean - can't wait!
Yes will be our first. What about you?

rosecbrm · 31/03/2022 21:26

Also finished my final pack of pills on Sunday and my withdrawal bleed started today! Interested to see what my cycle is going to be like for the next few months Confused

Dreamingof3 · 31/03/2022 23:13

@lj2022 it's completely normal! I was like that when trying for our second...seemed to take forever but we actually fell pregnant on our 5th cycle of trying and I wasn't using ovulation tests or anything!

Quick question. If we dtd on a Wednesday night and got peak test Sunday? Not trying yet but due on any day and feeling v nauseous 🙃

Brightonbelle87 · 01/04/2022 10:02

@lj2022 completely normal! Me and DH TTC last year for about 7 months and weren't successful, so we were getting worried and frustrated. Then my SIL got pregnant 'out of the blue' with baby number 2. I was so happy but found myself crying later on. Then found I was pregnant a month later. Unfortunately I had a miscarriage but at least knew I could get pregnant. We've been ttc since but no luck yet.
Last week SIL had a gorgeous baby girl and now I have another beautiful niece and I'm so happy and proud, absolutely no bad feelings whatsoever. Just makes us more broody and determined!

Brightonbelle87 · 01/04/2022 10:03

Fingers crossed @Dreamingof3!

lj2022 · 01/04/2022 10:28

@Dreamingof3 thank you so much for making me realise it's normal I felt so silly as it's only month 4 of TTC and I don't myself I wouldn't get upset until 7/8 months of it not happening. Sperm generally live up to 5 days so there could be a chance but generally I think possibly a little early for symptoms however you never know !!

@Brightonbelle87 I am so sorry to hear of your loss and struggles. It such a mix isn't it being so happy for them but a little sad for yourself mind you I don't think my partner is complaining the news has come at the time of my fertile week so last night I was like right let's go we've got a fun week ahead of DTD 😂 as you said makes us more determined to keep trying

DanisEndo · 01/04/2022 10:44

I just wanted to thank everyone who gave me advice a few days ago about my work / wedding / TTC debacle!

I spoke to my work training mentor for a rough timeline then sat down with my finance and we plotted it all out and moved things around until we felt comfortable. So we have a slight change of plan!

I'm going to stick it out at work until Oct/Nov when i should have finished training.
Hope to be moved in the house May, spend a few months saving up our buffer fund again.
Said about starting TTC in September as OH is still not quite ready (but said if he's ready before then, once we're in the house we can rediscuss and maybe start sooner). If it hasnt happened by the new year we might pause trying (so im not pregnant for the wedding) and if we pause i can then look at moving jobs in that time.

Obviously this could all go to pot... but Im feeling so much better having looked at it all together, and seeing how enthusiastic OH actually was.

Both going to get on the preconception vitamins - and I might order a book or two as OH always gets very excited by what he's reading :')

Congrats to the positives! Amazing news!!

Thanks again guys

WingingIt09 · 01/04/2022 10:53

@Dreamingof3 could be a chance since sperm lives up to 5 days. If you're due on any day I'd take a test 🙊 but I say that as a POAS addict....

Im getting quite strong opks but the Premom app is still saying they're low... I should be due to ovulate today/tomorrow based on a 26 day cycle

@WingingIt09 that's good line progression I think you'll get a peak in the next day or two. My ovulation is Wednesday so started yesterday with DTD and OPKs for line progression and already seeing them progress so fingers crossed for us 🤞

HeathenPlayingHouse · 01/04/2022 11:11

Just had to argue with my GP for a gynae referral, thankfully I came out the winner!

I get my period every 2-3 months, closer to 3 a lot of the time. Then when they arrive, I bleed so heavily that I'm afraid to leave the house. I'm prescribed Tranexamic and Mefanamic acid to ease the flow, but they aren't that effective.

This GP is supposed to be the "good gynae doctor" at the practice, and yet for the 2nd time she tried brushing me off with the excuse that it's just my PCOS causing it, and all I need to do is just lose some weight and it'll be resolved.

I am well aware that losing weight will probably help my PCOS, but does that mean I should just be left to deal with it? My periods are slowing to the 4 a year mark, I know they get concerned about that because of the lining build up and increased cancer risk, but I should just suck it up and keep quiet because my BMI is higher than ideal?

She finally offered the referral in the last 30 seconds and then hung up almost straight after. It felt like a total afterthought, a way to get me off the phone.

Oh well, it's done now.

DanisEndo · 01/04/2022 11:12

Does anyone have any recommendations of where to get affordable ovulation tests, folic acid, preconception vits for Mr.DanisEndo?

DanisEndo · 01/04/2022 11:15

@HeathenPlayingHouse UGH its so upsetting how BMI is used as an excuse to brush off medical concerns and how overlooked everything gynae is. Well done for pushing them and getting your referral - hopefully they can see you quickly and are more help!

lj2022 · 01/04/2022 11:26

@HeathenPlayingHouse I'm so sorry you're going through that there is nothing more infuriating than not being Listened to by health professionals. I found switching Dr helped me when I was having problems with my health I really hope you get the help that you deserve.

@DanisEndo I just bought easy at home off Amazon for £8 for 25 strips I don't use them unless on my fertile week just to confirm my app is correct so they last a while. Maybe Holland and Barrett for pre conception vitamins. I got seven seas ones from Asda but my OH isn't taking any so not sure if they do male ones

DanisEndo · 01/04/2022 11:28

thanks @lj2022 !!

HeathenPlayingHouse · 01/04/2022 12:10

@DanisEndo @lj2022 Thank you both Smile

I'm glad it's been sorted now, but I'm not going to rely on it to help me- the wait for a first appointment is around 18 months due to backlogs, so we could have already had another baby in that time!
