How exciting! I can’t wait to start shopping for baby ☺️ I want to make a Pinterest board but I’m worried others will be able to see it 🤣

Does anyone else on here have PCO and worry it may cause problems TTC?

TheOnlyException1 · 15/03/2022 21:11

Hi all, hope you're having a good week so far?

I love knitting and crochet, can't wait to start making stuff! I hadn't really thought about it until now, maybe I'll have to start researching patterns!
Honestly I have no idea what the essential must buys are yet, or how much we need to put aside for them.. lots of research to do I guess.. anyone have any good resources on that?
Also random question, does anyone have any experience with reusable nappies?

Pretty sure I'm ovulating in the next couple of days, although not testing this month, so DH and I have just been DTD and hoping for the last few days, and for the next few, fingers crossed it works out! 🤞

FourOclock · 15/03/2022 21:53

I used reusable nappies on both the boys and also worked for a reusable nappy companySmile

HeathenPlayingHouse · 15/03/2022 23:01

@PrettyPolly92 I have PCOS and it's definitely presented some hurdles. The best thing I could do for myself was to learn as much as I could about it and treat myself accordingly.

I did 8 rounds of Clomid, countless blood tests and scans and had my fallopian tubes flushed after a HyCoSy scan, and I never saw a hint of a second line.

My doctors only focused on treating my infertility, but after I focused on treating the PCOS itself, I was lucky enough to finally get my BFP.

PrettyPolly92 · 16/03/2022 07:38

Sounds like you went through a lot @HeathenPlayingHouse 🥺 I'm glad you finally got your BFP 🥰 Are you TTC #2 this year? Sending lots of baby dust to you!

What are your periods like with PCOS?

Been told I have PCO but not PCOS not really sure what the difference is and my periods seem completely normal now (they weren't when I got the scan) We're going to start TTC in Aprill I guess I'll soon find out if there's any problems 🥴

Duckandsarah · 16/03/2022 08:34

@TheOnlyException1 I tried to use a variety of cloth nappies but every single one of them leaked, I used several brands, it was a nightmare. I tried for months, it was so disappointing! I will try again this time but my fall back is the eco/biodegradable nappies as a compromise!

Duckandsarah · 16/03/2022 08:40

@PrettyPolly92 I have PCO not PCOS (at least I did before I had my first). It has no effect on hormones so it had no effect on us conceiving at all! I suspect I still have it but I think it ebbs and flows throughout my life. Good luck x

Please do feel free to message me if you have problems with leaks when you try again, I will try my best to help!

LucyLoopyLu · 16/03/2022 13:13

So interesting to hear about the PCO / PCOS.
I have been wondering if I have PCOS because I have pretty bad acne. Always been spotty but it was managed fairly well until I came off the pill and it steadily got worse and worse from there. Also I have very little body hair but started seeing random little dark hairs crop up in different places since I came off the pill as well - not a lot though, and may just be part getting older.
My periods are not like clockwork but don't know if they are irregular enough to be defined as irregular in a clinical sense.
I should probably speak to GP about it but I guess will TTC for a few chill months and then make an appointment if no joy. I have been taking expensive vitamins though just in case they help 🤣 could be a complete waste of money

HeathenPlayingHouse · 16/03/2022 14:37

@PrettyPolly92 I think it's like @Duckandsarah mentioned that PCO doesn't have the same effect on hormones, or at least to a much lesser extent. Whereas with PCOS, PCO is a symptom rather than a state by itself.

We are TTC2, yes. We're not in a big hurry though since we'd ideally like DS to be started at school by the time another one comes along, and that should be early next year.

HeathenPlayingHouse · 16/03/2022 14:41

@PrettyPolly92 Forgot to add, my periods with PCOS are typical for the condition- very long cycles (currently CD62 I think), but since having DS they've also got a lot heavier. They used to last around 4-5 days, but now it's closer to 7-10, and I have to use double pads.

DanceWithYourBalloon · 16/03/2022 16:10

Period has arrived. Makes sense seeing as we've all had Covid this past month.
I think I'd rather start a pregnancy from a healthy place anyway. 😊

HippeePrincess · 16/03/2022 18:41

@PrettyPolly92 you can make a secret board on Pinterest I had one before.

LucyLoopyLu · 16/03/2022 19:07

@hippeeprincess oh yes you're right, I did that when I started one for wedding dresses

PrettyPolly92 · 16/03/2022 20:22

@Duckandsarah @HeathenPlayingHouse Thanks so much for the info! I got told about PCO when I was 22 and very much not wanting children so paid no attention to what I was told 🤦‍♀️

@LucyLoopyLu @HippeePrincess I'll have to look into how to do that! You've really opened a can of worms for me 🙊

Out of interest, who wants to find out about the gender before baby is born and who wants a surprise?

I love the idea of a surprise 🥰

lj2022 · 16/03/2022 20:54

Is anyone else not fully tracking? I feel I became obsessive last month and it stressed me out so just going by an estimate now I know I have ovulated 2 months in a row now around the same day in my cycle. Not holding out much hope for this month though as I've been really ill and rarely DTD

anibendod · 16/03/2022 21:12

@lj2022 I'm trying to hold out from getting drawn into obsessively tracking as once I start I don't think I'll be able to stop.

I'm just using clue (period tracking app) at the mo. It's accurate at predicting AF so I'm hoping it will also be accurate with my fertile window. If it's right, ovulation day for me is tomorrow. We DTD last night. If time and energy permit, we might go again tomorrow or friday. I'm trying to stay chilled and not freak out DH or overwork my poor vajayjay as I'm prone to water infections.

tryingtryinggone · 16/03/2022 22:39

@PrettyPolly92 I’m considering keeping the gender a surprise this time. With our first I was adamant I wanted to know so we could prepare and I always thought that it wouldn’t have been special to find out when she was born with everything else that was going on but I’m considering keeping it a surprise this time for some reason! Don’t know if my husband will agree though 😂

@lj2022 I won’t be tracking properly for the first couple of months. I know roughly when I ovulate due to cm so just going to go off that. I put too much pressure on myself otherwise which definitely didn’t help last time. It literally took over my whole mind for months 🙈

TheOnlyException1 · 16/03/2022 22:39

@FourOclock oh that's great to hear! I would love to use them if possible, I'll have to come to you for recommendations a bit later down the line ☺️ hopefully you'll have more luck with them this time @Duckandsarah

@lj2022 yeah like @anibendod I'm also just going by what Flo app is suggesting, also I have quite clear ovulation symptoms. So just winging it a bit for now, as it's less anxiety inducing!

@PrettyPolly92 honestly we haven't decided yet - DH isn't fussed about keeping it a surprise.. I'm not too sure 🤔

FourOclock · 17/03/2022 05:56

@PrettyPolly92 I'm undecided on finding out! I found out both times last time, first time I was so glad I had because I was so out of it when he was born and I wouldn't have found out he was a boy till I'd come round and he would have been in NICU.

I do like finding out half way through the pregnancy, I tend to feel pretty crap all the way through so it's nice to have something exciting in the middle to keep me going. It became much more real for DH after that point too.

This time I am so tempted to try a surprise but I think I might crumble Grin I will also see if the kids start asking/having a preference too. My eldest is autistic so might be better for him to know the sex beforehand but if he's not shown much interest we might get away with it Smile

Duckandsarah · 17/03/2022 07:55

@PrettyPolly92 this webpage explains the difference really well
www.dralexpolyakov.com.au/blog/polycystic-ovaries-or-pcos-whats-the-difference

I would like to find the sex of the next baby at the scan. I found the “handing” over of the baby overwhelming by itself and was really glad it wasn’t another surprise for DH who just turned up to a baby already there!

Duckandsarah · 17/03/2022 07:56

I also have been researching and I think second labours are quicker which means I will probably give birth in an hour or so, which will be enough of a shock in itself.

OCM19 · 17/03/2022 08:54

Morning all, just catching up. I hope everyone is doing ok.

Covid got me and I was sooo unwell on Sunday! Feel 10 x better now. I am only on CD9 so not sure how it will affect ovulation/this cycle! Did anyone else find they ovulated at a different time?

How are those in the TWW feeling? X

FourOclock · 17/03/2022 09:29

@Duckandsarah

This is very true, my second labour was an hour and it was all a big shock to be honest, I was holding DS for ages just a bit gobsmacked before the midwife said 'did you check he is a boy?' Grin

Goodness I hope that's true!

I was induced at 3pm on the Friday afternoon and the little sod didn't make an appearance until 4am on the Monday morning!
