So finally on day 20 I get a positive opk. 🙄Stopping this folic acid for sure for the time being…

I am also a bit wary of the energy prices. It just seems like one thing after another at the minute. 😞 thing is it is so unpredictable that there’s almost no point in us actually worrying about it. We’ve started a savings pot to try and take the edge off the increases but feel very fortunate that we can even do this.
I feel so angry this will force people into heating or eating 😞

I was speaking to my pregnant friend this weekend though and the way she talks about her care so totally different to what I experienced before so I’m actually feeling hopeful that I’ll get a normal pregnancy experience next time (if we are lucky).

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!

Dreamingof3 · 13/03/2022 15:37

I think my luteal phase is only 11/12 days. Currently on cd17 and negative opks, I get so on edge waiting for it and we're not even trying yet 🤣

@anibendod sounds like a good approach! Are you trying for your first x

anibendod · 13/03/2022 16:54

@Dreamingof3 yes it will be our first.

I'm 36 and DH is 42 so if we don't get a BFP naturally over the next few months then we'll get much more disciplined with actively trying from the new year.

We've got some financial and house goals that we are working on this year to keep us entertained in the mean time and get us as baby ready as possible. I'm the main bread winner and DH's job isn't looking as secure as it once was so we're trying to build up maternity leave savings, pay down mortgage and get jobs done around the house whilst we still have 2 wages coming in.

HippeePrincess · 13/03/2022 19:10

I've decided to put ttc back a couple of months probable more like June/July, I think I'm going to come off my contraception mid April when I run out anyway and use condoms, let my cycle regulate (who knows how long it might take this time) and ttc when the house and other things are more in place. Gives us chance to save a bit more of a buffer as well given all the risings costs!
I am reading in the background but had a bit of a busy week and haven't had the energy to contribute.

Brightonbelle87 · 13/03/2022 20:10

Thanks for the words of encouragement everyone and it's clear that everyone has financial concerns about babies and houses. But then here we are trying and it's so positive! Thinking about what my mum told me that I was a surprise baby and then dad lost his job and we were forced to move etc etc... but they wouldn't have done it any differently!

Looks like the next few days are going to be DTD so fingers crossed!!

Good luck to everyone trying and testing this week x

hevann · 14/03/2022 11:12

Hi all, haven't been on for a while so just catching up. Hope you're all doing good?

I have a major dilemma! My husband's niece (she's 3 years younger than me) has been talking about booking a spa day at the end of April for us to go to. The one she is looking at is really expensive and I feel like I don't want to book it yet incase I fall pregnant quickly and I won't be able to do anything there so will be a waste of money 🤦🏻‍♀️ I also don't want to tell her that we are trying to conceive now. She keeps asking me when so I've told her towards the of the year otherwise she'll keep going on 😂

I'm a bit stuck! I know I'm being hopeful that I'll fall quickly but you never know. Just not sure what to say. xx

HeathenPlayingHouse · 14/03/2022 11:23

@hevann Could you maybe tell her you want to wait a while due to finances? That's an entirely valid excuse given the soaring costs of, well, everything!

CD60 and giving up with OPKs until AF shows her face. My longest recent cycle was 77 days, so hopefully she'll make an appearance soon enough.

On a positive note, I started back on my supplements last night and after breaking them in a half and taking them one at a time, I didn't retch once! A low bar for progress, perhaps, but I'll take it!

FourOclock · 14/03/2022 12:24

@hevann I have been to spas while pregnant and although the hot tub, sauna and steam room are off limits it's still really nice to relax for the day, have a swim and some treatments. They have tailored treatments to suit pregnancy for me even when I've booked before being pregnant and then had to change the treatment. If it's end of April you probably won't be feeling too rough that soon either

Dreamingof3 · 14/03/2022 13:37

I'd probably just say I couldn't really spare the money, I know anyone close tk me would guess in a second if I was avoiding the saunas etc.

I almost bought a baby grow yesterday 🤦‍♀️

HippeePrincess · 14/03/2022 19:52

I’d probably just go to the spa and limit use of the jacuzzi etc to 10 mins at a time to be honest or just make sure I wasn’t too hot at any point. Especially if it’s only about a month away from now!

Brightonbelle87 · 14/03/2022 21:04

@Dreamingof3 I love knitting and I've been very tempted to start making cardigans and jumpers - which makes me sound like a weird old cat lady 😅

LucyLoopyLu · 14/03/2022 21:22

Omg I would love to buy something but feels like a jinx 🥲 I really worry we will have trouble conceiving

PrettyPolly92 · 15/03/2022 07:21

Hello I’m back! Been keeping up with this thread but now it’s disappeared from my “I’m on” list!

DP has said April for starting to TTC but looks like I’ll be ovulating the last day of March 😭 I’m going to see if he can sway him to start then 😜

I don’t want to wait until the END of April! 🥺

PrettyPolly92 · 15/03/2022 07:22

I feel the same @LucyLoopyLu 🥺 I’m always looking in the baby sections of shops but I just can’t bring myself to buy anything!

hevann · 15/03/2022 07:30

thank you everyone for the replies. I'm probably thinking way to much in to it 🙈 I'll probably still go just swerve around things a bit! Ha!

I'm always looking at baby things, have a whole section on my phone saved 🙈

@Brightonbelle87 I love knitted outfits. My mum made some cardigans for her work colleague a few months ago & they were so cute! Can't wait to be able to ask her to make some for my baby. x

Dreamingof3 · 15/03/2022 08:37

@brightonbelle87 I'd love to be able to do cardigans...I can just about knit a straight line though 🤣 currently doing a blanket but it's more about keeping my hands busy in the evening so I don't snack 🤣

@PrettyPolly92 @LucyLoopyLu same! I love looking and have tons saved in my favourites but can't quite bring myself to buy. I think I will as soon as I get a bfp though! And use it to tell my other half

Jennifer89 · 15/03/2022 10:31

I have already favourited baby items on Amazon and been looking at maternity clothes. Maybe getting carried away but at least when I am pregnant it will be more quick to purchase items. Grin

LucyLoopyLu · 15/03/2022 10:49

Omg after all the palaver getting an appointment to have my coil removed the doctor just called and asked if I can come this afternoon!
Wish me luck 😂

hevann · 15/03/2022 12:03

🥳🥳 Good Luck @LucyLoopyLu x

Brightonbelle87 · 15/03/2022 13:20

Omg I'm so glad I'm not the only one! Even my DH gets sappy when he sees a dinosaur related toy or jumper (he loves jurassic park!) A knitted blanket will be so special and you'll have it for years, maybe even for grandchildren... Wink

Good luck @LucyLoopyLu!

HeathenPlayingHouse · 15/03/2022 14:18

@LucyLoopyLu Good luck!

I actually did buy some stuff about 18 months in to TTC, or rather my OH went soppy over a few babygros and convinced me we needed them! I just folded them all up, put them in a box and hid them under our bed.

Considering it took another 2 and a half years before I got pregnant, it could easily have been something I regretted. But actually I found it helped sometimes when TTC was going rough and I was feeling like a failure, on those days I would pull out the box, spread it all out on our bed, then fold it back up and put it away again.

It sounds like such a strange little ritual, but it was a reminder for me that I shouldn't give up, because all that stuff was still waiting to be used one day.

LucyLoopyLu · 15/03/2022 18:04

@heathenplayinghouse
That's so sweet 💙 made me tear up! I'm glad it all worked out for you even though it did take longer than hoped.

Thanks everyone for the good luck, it worked out fine! Very quick and the doctor was very nice. Woop woop

FourOclock · 15/03/2022 18:48

Glad it went well Lucy!

I'm off to pick up a second hand pram tomorrow 🙈 third baby you'd think I had everything but I've made do with hand me down prams and never loved them and this time I thought sod it I'm buying the one I've always wanted

Dreamingof3 · 15/03/2022 19:46

Glad it went well @LucyLoopyLu

@fouroclock what have you gone for? There are some really great bargains around for baby things!

FourOclock · 15/03/2022 20:41

Gone for a Bugaboo Donkey Mono! I've been pushing a double for the last two years so used to a wider pram and figure I need all the storage for outings with three kids!
