Hi everyone.

I recently reduced by baby's feeds to twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening and I am fairly sure I'm about to ovulate for the first time!

Positive OPKs today and what looks like fertile CM.

I was planning to start trying next month and have a pre-conception appointment booked with my doctor on 5th April. My history is that I had recurrent miscarriages TTC#1 and eventually managed a successful pregnancy with HCG shots and progesterone.

I don't know whether to have sex tonight on the offchance and take progesterone after ovulation to make sure my luteal phase is long enough, or abstain until after I think I've ovulated and not start anything until I've seen my doctor next month.

Tough one. My head is telling me to wait. My heart is saying chance it.

HeathenPlayingHouse · 11/03/2022 16:12

@OCM19 and @MrsGrealish Sorry the witch showed her face for you both, hope you're doing ok.

@NarnieJoy Keeping fingers crossed for you!

I'm currently CD57, which is not unusual in the slightest. No idea where I am in the cycle, PreMom is giving me a 0.4-0.6 in OPKs at the minute, but I think it's just another anovulatory cycle- thanks PCOS!

I stopped taking my horse pill supplements while I waited for the splitter to arrive, but sadly all it did was crush them to smithereens. I'm hoping once I start taking them again, AF will show up in due course like it did before conceiving DS- AF turned up 10 days after starting the treatment, then I got pg on the next cycle.

Don't want to get my hopes up though.

Jennifer89 · 11/03/2022 17:07

@babyjellyfish I personally would try. You never know, could be your luck month!

Sd1994 · 11/03/2022 18:25

New to this thread. 7dpo today so hopeful this is my month. Had a chemical in January; trying so hard to not begin testing too early

tryingtryinggone · 11/03/2022 20:04

@Brightonbelle87 sorry to hear about the house situation, the housing market is crazy at the moment. We’re in a 2 bed house and logically probably shouldn’t have another baby until we have a bigger house but tbh that just isn’t feasible at the moment with the huge increase in the cost of living I’d be too worried about the bigger mortgage payments and gas/electric etc. But I just feel ready for number 2. Don’t know if I’m being irresponsible for planning on ttc again

LucyLoopyLu · 11/03/2022 21:33

@tryingtryinggone - definitely don't think you're being silly trying. Growing up I lived in a two up two down terrace and shared a small room with my brother till I was 9 and he was 11. I imagine it wasn't easy for my parents struggling in a small house, and they really pushed to move to a 4 bed, but we never felt like we missed out on anything and had a lovely childhood

TheOnlyException1 · 11/03/2022 22:39

Thanks for the info @WingingIt09 @FourOclock @Worryant , I think we'll carry on and see what happens and if we don't have any luck in the next cycle or two, I'll give opk testing a go! I also started taking Folic acid about a month ago, so that might slightly change my dates anyway by the sound of it!
I totally agree there is no perfect time, DH is a post doc researcher at a university and his funding runs out in September, but we really just feel like we're in the right place emotionally, so I guess we'll figure something out!

TheOnlyException1 · 11/03/2022 22:59

Also hello @Sd1994, sorry to hear about January, fingers crossed this is your month!

Vasectomyreversalhopeful · 12/03/2022 08:56

Sorry to those for whom AF has arrived.

I am now on pregnacare conception and DH is on Wellman Conception.

Less than 5 weeks to go!

MrsGrealish · 12/03/2022 18:35

TWW again ladies 🤞
Good luck @Sd1994 I had I think a chemical last month too then covid

NarnieJoy · 12/03/2022 19:23

I think I’m testing next Wednesday - but if AF is going to show I should have spotting by then as not to waste a test. I think I’m not going to be pregnant in reality because we weren’t thinking about it and not much tracking apart from BBT.

Dreamingof3 · 12/03/2022 19:30

Sorry a bit off topic but has anyone else had their estimated energy costs for next year in 😑 just had ours and its going up by £900....and I know thats better than others have had! Everything is just going up so much...definitely makes me worry about adding another baby 👶

WingingIt09 · 12/03/2022 19:51

@Dreamingof3 ouch! We are lucky that we are in a fixed rate deal until August 2023 so ok for now. Energy costs have made us make the decision to stay in our current house rather than move though. Choice was stick with 2 children and move to a bigger house or stay where we are for another 2-5 years and have a third. Definitely can understand the financial worries of a third though - DD2 gets her free nursery hours next Jan so if we didn't have #3 our days of ridiculous nursery fees would be done 🙈

OP posts:
LucyLoopyLu · 12/03/2022 20:25

@dreamingof3 - yes our energy bills are frightening! Last year compared to this year it's going to be almost double 😶 my husband is kicking himself as we didn't renew when our last fixed deal ended, so we're suffering on a variable rate now. We're getting a new front door this summer and it's v spendy but the current one leaks water and is the most draughty thing ever so hoping that will keep us a bit warmer

Sd1994 · 12/03/2022 20:57

Thanks so hard to not symptom spot. In fairness I have no symptoms at all, not even sore nips just feel very flushed today face is burning hot but no hot temp or anything else

Dreamingof3 · 12/03/2022 21:15

@WingingIt09 it makes sense! There are a few things we can cut and other half is on track for a promotion later this year so things should 🤞 even out. We'll still be looking at moving (we rent so not as much of an up front cosy!) But will undoubtedly now stay in the same size house

I do wonder if it's sensible but I definitely think we'd still regret not having a third! Might have to part with my tumble dryer though 🤣

TheOnlyException1 · 12/03/2022 22:12

@Dreamingof3 yeah, energy hikes are a bit scary, I think ours is going up by about £600, but we're in a fairly small terrace. Are they still advising not to swap providers? I was thinking of looking around as our current provider is kinda a pain!

WingingIt09 · 12/03/2022 22:18

@Dreamingof3 literally just been having a discussion with DH about whether a third is sensible. All the cons of a third make so much logical sense - a third complicates things for family trips etc. as the world is built for families of 4. Financially it's tricky and we need a bigger car to fit car seats, ideally a bigger house (although we're compromising on this due to increased cost of living). DH is indifferent and feels like we might be pressuring ourselves into 3 as we've always said we want 3. But despite all my doubts I just think I'll regret not having a third...

OP posts:
tryingtryinggone · 12/03/2022 22:46

@WingingIt09 @Dreamingof3 I also keep thinking to myself whether it’s sensible having another but I feel ready. I want my DD to have a sibling as close in age as possible and I know we wouldn’t ever regret it. I like to think all these practical issues wouldn’t even be remembered in a few years and everything will work itself out. I’m usually a very logical thinker but apparently when it comes to having children I’m not! Haha

FourOclock · 13/03/2022 03:57

How do you find out estimated energy costs for the upcoming year? I'm so useless with this sort of thing! We are now thinking of moving, I want to stay put for now until this baby is here and we're out of the crazy early days. The house we will likely move into is very old and cold and this house is warmer for doing middle of the night feeds in winter Grin

Tropicana1 · 13/03/2022 08:46

Morning ladies!
Had a really busy week so I've just had a good catch up of all the posts since Monday!
So glad to see so many of you doing opk's early too 😂
I'm testing this month to get ovulation time straight prior to starting TTC again as I remember from last time I ovulate a bit later / have a shorter luteal phase. Currently CD 16 and starting to go a lot darker this morning with some cramping so I think CD 18 or 19 will be the day! Only around 5/6 weeks until we start trying!

Energy price hikes have me stressed too! Especially as I only get statutory mat pay from work which is really just shit all - need to get intensely saving over the next 12 months! Diesel yesterday was over 170 at the garage! I swear it's going up daily. @FourOclock I had an email from ours telling me the price change and our new vs old price projection.
DH talking about solar panels but I'm not sure about the short term outlay as we won't be in this house forever.

NarnieJoy · 13/03/2022 09:35

Woke up this morning after two insane dreams about my mum cheating on my dad and having a baby at 55!! And my boobs look bigger - I think I’m just crazy symptom spotting and will be disappointed ☹️ when I get not even a whiff of a line

Jennifer89 · 13/03/2022 10:49

@Dreamingof3, the costs rises don't feel like great timing with plans to ttc. I am thankful me and dh have short commute and currently work from home couple days a week. Also have fixed mortgage for 5 years but concerned most about energy price increases.. I wonder if these huge increases will happen this year then next year again? Is a bit worrying..
However, we are still on board to ttc as life is unpredictable and rather not just keep waiting. We don't know how quick it will be to concieve. I am sure we will manage and get through it..

Amber17 · 13/03/2022 12:42

Also stressed about the energy prices - we’ve gone from £90 to £180/month this winter 😬 Financially doable atm but I do worry about what it’ll cost next year if we have a baby - I assume they don’t tolerate being told to just put another jumper on!

anibendod · 13/03/2022 13:14

lurking in the background. We've just started not trying, not preventing as I don't want DH getting performance anxiety or to take the fun out of DTD.
