we are changing brand if this isn't our month I am a mix of terrified if I am pg and excited to find out. I went and got a FRER for after the weekend as we have a party to attend and I want to enjoy. Should be 9/10 dpo monday...

Just waiting for a positive ovulation now to see what kind of cycle I'm going to have. Potentially only 1 or 2 more before we try 😅

@Dreamingof3 looking likes it's going to be 2 more cycles for me as my second cycle would have me pregnant before holiday in May. If periods stay on the 28 day cycle that apps are currently predicting then our first cycle actively trying will be around 18th May 🙊

I've been testing ovulation on cheapies from savers as I've never tested ovulation before.

They actually take ages don't they! I get a very very faint line to the point you'd have to squint or put it in decent lighting.

Ovulation day is due tomorrow but missed two nights of DTD in my fertile window because I was just so tired.

*I keep getting very very faint line.

Hey all, hope your week is going well?

AF is just past for me, Flo and Fitbit both say my fertile window starts today!
Could I ask you a quick question about opk testing? I've never done it and it's honestly a bit of a mystery to me - DH and I thought we'd just try through my fertile window and see if it happens via 'magic' (his wording!) before we get too scientific about it - has anyone had success just winging it, or is the timing really super critical for success?

@TheOnlyException1 my second pregnancy was conceived winging it. We decided to start trying for our second earlier than planned, just didn't use a condom a once and fell pregnant 🙊 sadly that pregnancy ended in miscarriage so we used OPKs to get the timing right for the cycle after my miscarriage.

@TheOnlyException1 the only time I've used opks was during a two month trial for clearblue a few years ago when TTC my first. I've not used them again since but my cycle is like clockwork and I have obvious ovulation signs like EWCM. I think they'd be handy if after a while you're not having any luck, just to double check you are ovulating when you think, but you can totally do without! Says the one pregnant first month of trying without them

@TheOnlyException1 we decided to do one cycle with no opk or planning, and we didn’t get pregnant. I decided to use OPKs (and pre seed) second cycle. OPK showed I was ovulating a week later than thought for my cycle and I fell pregnant that month using them. I had a late ovulation cycle though, so I may not have clocked that without them.

I am annoyed that I forgot this last time… but taking folic acid has delayed my ovulation just like it did last time. I am still waiting to ovulate on say 18 after being a day 15 regular for over a year now.
I’m going to stop taking it in the first half of my cycle. So irritating.

Sorry to hear that @OCM19 and @WingingIt09 my ovia app is always positive when AF starts - 'it's the start of a new cycle and chance to conceive!' Which just annoys me!

Not using ovulation tests but going by the look of (in!) my pants I'm fertile this weekend so here's hoping!

On a kind of related note, we're trying to buy a house and it just fell through yesterday. I started to think maybe I shouldn't have a baby then, but is there ever a perfect time to get pregnant?! I'm 35 nearly 36 so just want to get on with it. Sorry just needed to get that off my chest!

@Brightonbelle87 we waited and I'm regretting it, like you say there's never going to be a 'perfect' time - sorry to hear about the house falling through though, it is so disheartening when it happens x

@brightonbelle87 - oh no, sorry to hear about your house falling through. Its so stressful isn't it. I know what you mean about not wanting to wait. I have delayed TTC for a couple of years because of Covid throwing a spanner in the works and don't want to wait any longer, even though it would be lovely to have a few more months to enjoy ourselves as things have been so hard.

@WingingIt09 - 18th May will come so quickly! I don't know about you but I think this year is just flying by!

@NarnieJoy - how exciting! Keep us posted!

@OCM19 & @MrsGrealish - sorry this wasn't your month, hope you're doing OK.

RE OPKs - I think I might give it two or three cycles before trying them. I do get EWCM one or two days in a cycle so will try and time it around that; my cycles are a little irregular so not sure the day on the calendar will give me too much of an accurate day. I just had a really long cycle which I wonder if it was down to starting the pre-pregnancy vitamins. I usually range between 28 and 32 day cycles and last month was 36!

Thanks for the comments, no symps today so I’m thinking it won’t be this month as I don’t know exactly when I ovulated but we dtd with accidental breakage about every other day so our chance is a good as any

@Brightonbelle87 sorry to hear the house fell through. I’m sure your baby would be too snuggled up and loved to know that they wouldn’t care which house just that they had lovely parents who were doing their best to try and secure one!! The next will be better!

Maybe you have finally solved the mystery on why I suddenly ovulate late for me. Thank you!

@LucyLoopyLu yes I think the preg vits and Covid vaccine messed with my cycles ! I guess even if they stay irregular opks will let you know the best time in that month when to try

@Brightonbelle87 that's so frustrating, but you're so right there is never a perfect time to have a baby. You will never have enough money/space/time but you make it work! If it helps, we desperately needed to extend our tiny house before having kids but we didn't end up managing it until my second was a few months old - would it have been easier if we did it when we were child free? Of course, a million times easier, BUT we managed it somehow and I'm glad we didn't wait to start having babies

@Worryant well technically there’s no research on it but it is definitely true for me! The cycle change has been instantaneous.
Interesting that it’s happening to you as well…

@Brightonbelle87 there is never a right time and I wouldn’t leave it too late, personally.
We got pregnant in January 2020 at the “perfect time” for us and look what happened 2 months later 😂 there will always be curveballs x

@WingingIt09 I'm waiting to see how long this cycle is and then see what that does to my predictions!
