Hi all,

Minxi - Thought I'd do what you said and start a new thread for 2008 (even though we have got a few days to go). Sorry to hear about AF but pleased your staying positive definately get reflexology going its worked wonders for me

Hope you have all had a lovely christmas

Well I am scared to type this (let alone say it out load) after last time but I got a BFP this morning!!! I am so scared and happy all rolled into one because of MC in October I so hope this one holds on.

Morning lovely people....

Minxi - sorry your DH is ill.... what a nightmare! This time of the year is a pain for flu and colds... touch wood we have been clear of any so far.. Please tell him not to sneeze this way. Have fun with the school run..

Ready - As a reflexologist they consider themselves to be in a similar profession to health care professionals so should have the same principles of confidentiality. So she should be fine. When are you next seeing your consultant?

Ready · 03/01/2008 10:15

Crossed with you Minxi - everything you said is right. I'll have a think about it. Chocdays on another thread suggested acupuncture, which is something else that I have been thinking about. Note to self: Must really stop thinking about these things, and start doing!

Ready · 03/01/2008 10:18

Well Rah, the last time we saw the consultant, he said come and see him in another 6 months. But since then we have had all the upheaval, and so we have decided to lay low medically for a while, and as soon as we are a little more settled we will start the ball rolling again. I doubt I will get a GP anywhere near as good as the one I had before, which is a shame. But fingers crossed for someone a little understanding

RahRah1 · 03/01/2008 11:03

I have to say I found acupuncture better than reflexology for results.

You never know you might get lucky on the doctor front. I've just moved doctors and I'm hoping that we will see a difference in the service. The hospital have put me on aspirin in case I conceive (fat chance) but I'm not sure its having the desired effect. I really suffered from a lot of clots this month and the aspirin is meant to thin the blood. Do you think I should try and raise this with the doctors again? Even though they are saying they don't know what the problem is??? Also I have been getting lots of bruising... Do you think I should go and have a word with my GP rather than the hospital?

RahRah1 · 03/01/2008 11:05

Sorry just realised I went on about myself when I was actually meant to say, you have made a wise decision on the specialist front and just giving yourself some time. The stress of the last few months is probably now lifting and if it does not happen in the next few months I would contact the specialist again. Would you have to change hospitals?

Ready · 03/01/2008 11:27

If I were you I would definitely speak to your GP about the bruising and the clotting. And treat that as a separate issue. Because if you were not ttc that would still be a concern, wouldn't it. And the fact that you are ttc and your complications with Bertie should mean that they bend over backwards to sort you out!!

bcsnowpea · 03/01/2008 11:35

Thanks for the welcome.
minxi- yes I am on depo. DH is a pharmacist and pointed out that it takes on average 9 months for fertility to return. All the research I've done pretty much confirms this. We'd like to have dc2 soon after ds's 2nd b-day (he's almost 14 months), but I'm also studying this year, so in theory we're not in any rush. However, I've been broody for the last 14 months, so it's on my mind .
Anyway, no harm in trying!!!

Ready · 03/01/2008 11:37

What a lovely situation to be in

minxi · 03/01/2008 12:15

bcsnowpea I only asked as I was on depo for a year and my last injection was Nov 2004 - periods back to normal July 2006 and been ttc since with no joy but have read that it can take up to aything from 9 -24 months for fertility to return back to normal so I'm hoping as I know I was ovulating since nov 2006 that it will be one day beansprout on another thread - I think she got pg within the year after depo... so you never know!

Ready I still haven't called reflexologist and am also wondering accupuncture ?!! must call want to call to get an appointment tomorrow just before ov

RahRah1 · 03/01/2008 12:25

bcsnowpea don't know much about depo I'm afraid.... In fact me and DH have never used contraception, except in the early days when we used a condom. I might have more joy if I was on the pill...
Everyone is different, so you never know it could be quicker than you think. What are you studying?

Ready · 03/01/2008 14:55

All talk and no action, you and me Minxi

Rah - it's really funny that you say that, I haven't ever been on the pill, and I thought that would be a good thing fertility wise, but it hasn't seemed that way! The people I know on the pill for over 10 years both fell really quickly!

RahRah1 · 04/01/2008 09:14

ummmmmm, that is interesting.....
maybe we should both go on the pill and miss taking a couple in conjunction with a one night random drunken sex session with a stranger and maybe we will catch. Not sure what DH's will say but I'm getting desperate!

FurtivelyPosting · 04/01/2008 11:13

I'm another one who's never used any form of contraception other than condoms (I tried the pill once many years ago and stopped after a short while - it turned me into an emotional basketcase the size of a house!) and not even a hint of conception so far. Mind you, we're not going hell for leather at it just yet as we're supposed to be selling our house and moving before we ttc properly. It doesn't hurt to get some practice in though and at my age, you can't really take any of your cycles for granted.

I've noticed that my temps so far this cycle have slowly dropped over the last few days instead of dropping steeply on CD1 s they usually do. God, I hope my innards are still working. I already know that my PCT won't offer me any assistance if it turns out I need it.

Ready · 04/01/2008 13:04

PMSL at Rah's suggestion

FP Forgive me, I am about to be incredibly nosy - Are you ttc your first? How old are you? You said something about "at your age" so got me wondering. Oh, and why won't your PCT help if you need intervention?

It's really funny how many people on this thread have been moving house isn't it. Like we are all strangely drawn together.

Lots to do, should stop posting on here

Ready · 04/01/2008 13:06

Oh yeah... forgot to say, I tried the pill when I was 17, but I didn't react well, dizzy spells and the like, so that put paid to that. And to think how much we spent on condoms over the years - might have been pointless

bcsnowpea · 05/01/2008 07:43

minxi- 9 months is average, with I think a year around that being normal variance. I was taking depo because of breastfeeding, but now that I want to conceive, and knowing that it can contribute to bone degeneration, I kind of wish I'd never used it.

RahRah- I'm finishing my BA (majoring in Psych and Comparative religion). I really miss it, and am really looking forward to going back, but also wondering how I'll strike the study/mummy/wife balance.

RE everyone moving house- maybe we're all prematurely nesting. We just moved country, and I'm trying to turn my mother's whole house around!!

FurtivelyPosting · 05/01/2008 10:17

hiya ready - well, i have 3 children already and it goes like this;

dd - 16 years old
ds1 - 11 years old
ds2 - 8 months old!

as you can see, there's a gasp between our littlest abd the older two - dh needed 10 years of persuasion before he would agree to number! since having our littlest, our lives have been so enriched and we've been so haapy and we wonder (or rather dh does) why we left it so long. i would like to have one more child to complete our family but, as i'm 39 years old now, i feel that time isn't on my side. we've talked about ttc again and dh is not against this time - he is supportive of my charting etc and has agreed thar once we sell up and move, we can try again. we're also getting some pracrice in now - i feel that at 39, i can't really take any of my cycles for granted.

when we started ttc our littlest, i went to see my gp for advice. he told me to expect at least a year of trying and that i may not be able to conceive at all, given my age. he said that i would not be eligible for any fertility treatment should i have problems because of my age and the fact that i already have children, which is fair enough i think. luckily for us, it only took 3 weeks to conceive!

i'm now in my 5th cycle of charting this time around but most of that has been about monitoring whether my body and cycle are returning to their pre-pregnancy ways of operating rather than actively ttc. my body is just about on an even keel now so i feel like this is the start of ttc, rather than when i started charting again back in august, iyswim.

FurtivelyPosting · 05/01/2008 10:19

lol - that should say 'gap' rather than ' gasp', which is still kind of appropriate!

FurtivelyPosting · 05/01/2008 10:38

Lol again - in fact, that whole post was a grammatical disgrace! If you see a post from me written in lower case, littered with typos and completely lacking in grammar, you can assume that I've got the little fella sitting on my lap playing as I attempt to type!

Ready · 05/01/2008 11:11

Wow FP!! Going for 4! I am liking the gap between your children . There's a 5 year gap between my brother and me, and I wouldn't change it. That said, I think that when my time comes to be a mum, I will probably (hopefully) not wait long for the next one. But if it took a while (and it's likely if ttc#1 is any guide) then I would not be worried. I am sorry I got the impression that you were a first-timer , I feel a bit of a plum giving advice on OPKs now

Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far. I am soo tired, it's ridiculous.

FurtivelyPosting · 05/01/2008 13:18

oh no, don't be sorry, ready! please give advice wherever you can, espescially in relation to opks as i've never used them before. in fact, any advice is gratefully received - it's all good, as they say.

Hello girls - thought I would keep the re-capping up to show us all where some of us are

Hope all is going well...having an okay weekend - but feeling a bit low and stressed at the moment and not sure why.... need to chill out....exercise starts tomorrow - yay! not! still not called reflexologist! will do that tomorrow - I really mean that!

and has anyone seen Tesco's have Easter eggs already?!

Ready · 06/01/2008 16:50

Still not temped, cannot find my thermometer since the move

Minxi, Sorry to hear that you are feeling low (((hug))) - I reckon the exercise will pep you up a little. I feel low and it's sometimes just because I am sluggish and need to move about a bit. Going for a walk is sometimes enough to lift my spirits

I KNOW!! I couldn't believe my eyes yesterday in Tesco with the Easter Eggs already on the shelves. What is up with the world?

FurtivelyPosting · 06/01/2008 19:51

I think this time of year can make people feel low too, Minxi. January always seems like a long and arduous month. Hope that you feel pepped up after your exercise session.

I had to lol at your Tesco remark - I spotted some hot cross buns in my local Sainsbury's on Thursday (two days after new year's day, for flip's sake)! It's not as if they'll even keep until next week, never mind the end of March.

Ready · 06/01/2008 19:58

You see... I could eat Hot Cross Buns at any time of year
