Anyone fancy starting an ongoing thread for those who are having IVF/ are planning to try again via IVF soon?

Ds was conceived via IVF - he's now 2.6 and we're stepping back on the scary rollercoaster ride with a FET - I started taking the drugs yesterday!

It's SOOOOOO exciting!!!!

Is tomorrow the day then SS?

SaveScrabulous · 03/02/2008 20:21

Not feeling very optimistic today I have to say!

I did a first response test today and it was blank apart from the very faintest grey line IF I held it up in bright light and looked very very hard.

So either - it is a negative

  • it is too early.

I guess that I am not feeling optimistic as last time I tested at day 11 (i.e. equivalent of tomorrow) and got a very faint but darker than this pink line.....

These preg tests are so expensive it is so stupid of me but I couldn't wait and also I quite like the idea of being eased gently into a BFN iykwim rather than testing on say day 16 and gettng a no.

coggy · 03/02/2008 21:03

Oh dear. Did you do it first thing?
It is still terribly early y'know....keep thinking positive thoughts....easy to say I know.
X

SaveScrabulous · 03/02/2008 21:10

I didn't do it first thing whereas last time all of the early tests I did were with the first wee of the day !! (sorry if tmi!)

Might do another tomorrow with first wee.

coggy · 03/02/2008 21:13

Tut tut!
That makes a HUGE difference you know.
Now you can be positive again....it really wasn't a fair test was it?

So..that one doesn't count, forget it and move onto tomorrows!!!!

soosy · 03/02/2008 21:38

oh SS try again tomorrow coggy is right early morning pee makes a hell of a difference, it ain't over til the fat lady sings (the fat lady being AF) watching no reservations on DVD and I can't stop crying. Have had c*p day MiL descended with a surprise visit, DS had a birthday party this am and I was hoping for some rest this afternoon, but not luck and then they finally leave at four so no rest, for me. Hoping for more sleep tonight, DS hasn't woken up yet (good sign). Roll on tomorrow SS and GoodLuck to you too Coggy.

Sticki · 03/02/2008 22:12

SS - early morning pee has the highest concentration of hormone so is defo the only stuff to go for. Try again tomorrow. As Soosy says its not over until the fat lady sings.

Fingers crossed for everyone.

SaveScrabulous · 03/02/2008 22:20

Ok at this rate we should all buy shares in the makers of First Response test kits!

Thanks all for your words of sense (I need a dose of this at the moment as am losing the plot with the testing!! )

SaveScrabulous · 04/02/2008 09:43

Today's pee stick had a very slight pink line- a bit more than yesterdays although that might just be because I used the first wee of the day.

Will buy some more today and see what tomorrow's brings...

How is everyone else today?

Soosy - does your MIL know about the treatment? Bit mean to just descend on you like that. Hope you manage some rest today.

Sticki - sorry we never managed to meet face to face at the clinic. I found them all amazing this time. The Philipino nurse who was there during my ET was so sweet and held my hand throughout- what a lovely lady.

worrymerchant · 04/02/2008 11:24

Hi all, so lots going on this week eh?

SS - just picture that line getting stronger each time you test.

Coggy - hope things go well for you today.

Had a lovely Sat night... in casualty with DS! HE is much better now, they took bloods and gave him strong painkillers for hte pain, antibioltics for a urine infection and said they still think the stomach spasms are viral. THen later that night DD goes down with bad chest, asthma and cold. No sleep again for me!!

RE testing again... I was told to test this Fri as I was a day 2 transfer... do you theink there is any sense in trying earlier? half of me doesnt dare, dont even know if i'll be able to do it on Fri! but other half cant sope with waiting. it's doing my head in and bringing me down. i have quite a few symptoms,(cramps, sore boobs, dizzy, metallic taste in my mouth) but i also know that these can be interpreted either way.

Anyway, Good luck this week girls. xxx

SaveScrabulous · 04/02/2008 12:09

Worry - I really think that testing early isn't so bad IF you are aware that it won't be conclusive. Personally I like doing it as it would ease me into a result rather than it being a sudden negative. So the first few days I'd think 'well it's probably a no, but you never know' so I'd already be starting to get used to the idea that it's a no without it being a definite thing. Not explaining myself at all well.

But testing early is addictive be warned and it gets expensive (says ss off to shell out another £10 at Boots for more tests)....

SaveScrabulous · 04/02/2008 12:10

Worry - sorry to hear about the casualty trip - hope ds and dd are both getting better and you manage some rest.

soosy · 04/02/2008 12:29

oh I just typed a whole message and lost it argh.

Anyway SS things look more positive ha ha ha.

Worry hope DS feeling better, and I know what you mean about the 2WW, worse thing ever, I wish there was a way round it! You have lots of sympathy as I think the nearer you get to the day the harder it becomes.

I don't want to test early, as I have done before and had a + got v excited and then had af a few days later.

Still here waiting til the 14th!

Onlyaphase · 04/02/2008 15:20

Hi all

SS - hoping for better test results for you tomorrow. I know what you mean about testing early - a negative result isn't so bad if you can think it might be positive tomorrow. Though obviously a positive result would be better

WM...your poor DS. Are you getting any rest at all?

Had egg collection this morning and am feeling very sore now. Think they used a fairly hefty dose of painkiller on me as I have no recollection at all of any of the procedure nor of getting back to the recovery room, unlike last time. I was in theatre for 30 minutes as my right ovary is tricky to access - which may explain why I feel like I have been kicked. They got 5 eggs, which I am pleased with, not a huge amount but I don't produce masses of eggs anyway - will wait to see what tomorrow brings in the way of news of them.

DH is being a star and looking after DD all day as I really don't feel up to it yet.

coggy · 04/02/2008 15:43

Glad to hear that you are back and sfae OAP.
Five eggs is good...a difficult wait over the next couple of days I guess.
X

Worry...glad also to hear that you DS is so much better now. Hope that your DD improves soon as well and that you can get some much needed sleep.

SS....that does sound MUCH more positive now.

Onlyaphase · 04/02/2008 15:56

Coggy - were you due for another scan today? Any news on your follicles?

SaveScrabulous · 04/02/2008 18:57

OAP- great news that you have five - I really hope as many as possible turn into great quality embryos.

I'm worried now as totally overdid it this pm - carried massive bags of shopping back from shops in wheeled bag which was meant to take all the weight but somehow it was still a massive effort. And then ds was quite naughty which was stressful when all I wanted to do was put my feet up!

Will retest tomorrow- bought different tests though so not sure I'll be able to see a progression.

How is everyone else?? Coggy Soosy Sticki how are you all doing?

soosy · 04/02/2008 19:39

Hi SS I am sure you are fine, but get some rest girl.

OAP, that's fab news, sorry you are so sore, btw some of the pain killer they give does make you forget so don't feel so bad! I'll be keeping everything crossed to make sure fertilisation goes well overnight. Its all soo exciting!

Coggy how did things go today? I hope everything is looking a little better.

Sticki, how was your day?

Worry how's your waiting, you can post me about it I am around on and off all day!

V boring day really in the neverending 2WW, am really really finding it v difficult this time. When we instructed the estate agent I thought we would have a week before viewing would start ha ha ha. How wrong I was, we've had three today and two were at bath time which makes things a little tricky!

Still v tired, and DS still waking at night coughing, if it goes on much longer I am going to take him to the doc, as I need some sleep!

coggy · 04/02/2008 20:36

Soosy...sounds like you've got a lot on at the moment as well.

I hope your putting your feet up tonight SS too.

OAP...will they phone you tomorrow to let you know?

Yes, I had a re-scan today. The nurse started off by saying that we could 'go for it', then changed her mind and said I need another re-scan on Weds. I should have my EC by Christmas at this rate!!!

At least everything is growing...just very, very slowly.

I still have 6 follicles...the largest is 18mm and the others are all around 15mm so a few more days of drug will be good. Lining was 8.8mm today.

Hopefully all will go well and EC will be Friday.....almost too scared to type that!!!
We'll see what happens in a couple of days.

Sticki · 04/02/2008 20:46

Hi all

OAP - Great news about the 5. Fingers and toes crossed for fertilisation and growth in the next few days. What day are you hoping to transfer?

SS- Hope you are doing ok, and less stressed about DS behaviour (they know so well how to wind us up!) and doing too much.

Soosy -Theres nothing like selling a house to (try to) take your mind off the awful 2ww. Viewings at bath time are a nightmare (I remember practically hiding in the cupboard with dd when we sold our house.) Im full of admiration for you. Hope you are getting more sleep?

Worry - Hope your ds and dd are feeling much better? Your possible signs are good.... keep positive!

Everyone else - hope your day ok?

Luckily I had acupunture today as had a major wobble as my blood test yesterday was not v good - ovaries not responding well but no increase in dose as nearly had OHSS before. I swing from thinking this is always what happens and it'll be ok in the end to the usual anxious roller coaster feeling. I guess it probably means that my dates will change again, which stresses me as I'll have to change my fragile childcare arrangements again. Oh well, I guess I'll worry about it when it happens.

Good luck all.

Sticki · 04/02/2008 20:49

Coggy - think we crossed. Meant to ask earlier how you are doing.
Your follies and lining sound really good.... From the numbers I have heard over the years seems like you are on target for friday.

Fingers crossed.

Onlyaphase · 05/02/2008 09:48

Hi all

Coggy - great news on your follicles, it does sound promising for Friday for you.

Sticki - can see why the clinic won't increase your dose if you had OHSS before, that must have been really nasty for you. Glad the acupuncture is helping you too. I do sympathise about unpicking childcare arrangements -we had to take DD with us yesterday for EC which I was mortified about even though the clinic said it was fine. In the end I stayed with DD whilst DH ... er ...did his bit... then DH and DD went to babygym together and came back to pick me up later.

Soosy - hope the viewings are going well. Are the agents doing them all for you? I remember selling our house when DD was 3 months old, and the worst bit was having to hide all evidence of our 2 cats and 2 big dogs before viewings and shut the dogs in the car etc. Have fingers crossed for a quick and high offer for you.

Clinic has just called and we have 4 fertilised eggs! Am just so pleased! Embryo transfer is tomorrow afternoon, all being well. Funny how this marvellous news has made my aches and pains today much better!

Hope everyone else well

coggy · 05/02/2008 11:04

That's BRILLIANT news OAP.
4 out of 5....I'm not surprised you suddenly feel better!!!!!

I bet you feel really excited now don't you?

SS...any further testing developments today?

worrymerchant · 05/02/2008 11:05

hi everyone...

OAP: what wonderful news!! I am thrilled for you and hope all goes well for tomorrow.

SS: how are you today? HAve you done another test?

Coggy, sounds as if the drugs are working...slow ripening sounds good to me, I bet that results in very good quality.

Sticki: SOrry about the blood test, what hapens next?I expect they wll restest in a couple of days? My first blood test was awful but then rocketed after that. Everyone has a different curve in response to stimulation, and no one has a textbok response, so try not to let it get you down.

Soosy - when are you due ot test? I am due Fri but am still undecided as to whether to test on WEd or not. I am so scared!!
