Anyone fancy starting an ongoing thread for those who are having IVF/ are planning to try again via IVF soon?

Ds was conceived via IVF - he's now 2.6 and we're stepping back on the scary rollercoaster ride with a FET - I started taking the drugs yesterday!

Hi again everyone

JaneHH here from way back on page 15(?) of this thread... have now read it all and caught up. Very sad to read the whole thread through knowing the outcomes already for a few people . I guess we all have to steel ourselves for the fact that it may not work for us either . But optimism is the way forward, of course... otherwise we wouldn't be on this thread now would we? Here's hoping for lots of BFP's all round this summer.

Just wanted to pop in and say hello. We've been referred for IVF + ICSI (for PGD if that means anything to anyone?) but haven't had our call-up letter yet so it's not just a 2ww for us but probably more like a 2mw before even anything like sniffing / injecting / pill-popping has to happen!

I got some people's names muddled up in my previous post, sorry It's RedQueen who's the German correspondent, not EHM! Sorry. RQ we will be reporting live from the continent together (I'm next door in Holland).

PS Onlyaphase had to smile at your mention of "freecycle" just before a discussion of NHS charges for IVF - if only our cycles WERE all free eh? Good luck with the clear-out!

nomoremagnolia · 13/03/2008 21:51

Hi all, just checking in
Was supposed to have my baseline scan and trial ET today but had to cancel as I've got a nasty D&V bug. The good thing that came out of it was that they said I could do it next month as it wouldn't affect the treatment which doesn't start til day 21 which I assume means we're set to go for the actual treatment on my next cycle Can't believe it has happened so quick (we're NHS funded for our first try) so despite the NHS-bashing re unfair rules/criteria, I can honestly say that we've been really impressed with the speed - I just wish they'd give us more than 1 go.

malaket · 13/03/2008 22:03

soosy

They kept the frosties in Liquid Nitrogen in a frozen transporter which my husband collectd and took staright over to the new clinic for them to keep safe for us.

This would have cost us about £350 pounds, but instead we collected and delivered at no cost at all.

Think we had to put a deposit down for the transporter of about £50 and then had to return it back to he JR when finished with.

So its quite easy to move the litle frosties around.....

swerve · 14/03/2008 06:54

makalet, what an extraordinary thought, driving around with your frosties in the car! do you put them in a carseat? gently round those corners. you wouldn't want to spill..

EHM · 14/03/2008 08:14

NMM sorry about D&V, although NHS does sound very efficient.good luck next month.
malaket wow transfering your frosties that sounds inpressive.is there a time scale in which it has to be done by?

I am day 11 no af no other symptoms either, did test yesterday BFN. Dont feel anything, i think we cause I haven't bled as yet so its not over until AF sings.

makecakesnotwar · 14/03/2008 09:41

Nomore- feel better soon, and keeping everything crossed...

soosy · 14/03/2008 11:00

Sounds quite easy really Malaket, and as the clinic we are thinking about is about two miles down the road, we should be able to do it in the back of a cab!

NMM Sorry to hear you are unwell, we all had the D&V bug in Sept, it is truly vile, so sending hugs.

EHM, 11 days in keeping everything crossed for a different result...

S x

Onlyaphase · 14/03/2008 12:23

Right, somebody has to have some good news soon on this thread. EHM, please let it be you

I've been looking at clinics in the north as I want to have another cycle in May/June, and I've found 3 that are OK. But the best one is booked until Sept, which is irritating, and the other two have success rates of 15 and 20% for 38-39 age group. My current clinic has rates of around 30%. DH has suggested that I sign up for the good clinic in the north in preparation for an Oct cycle, but come back to our existing clinic for a cycle in May/June. Am very tempted by this idea - saves all the hassle of getting more tests etc done by a new clinic...but it would mean spending about 2 weeks in the south again, after we have moved 250 miles north. Luckily we have a base in London for DH anyway - a houseboat - so it is possible. Why is everything so difficult!

Do we think SS is away? Hope she is slurping cocktails looking at white sands and blue sea and sky somewhere......

nomoremagnolia · 14/03/2008 13:12

EHM everything crossed for you

TheRedQueen · 14/03/2008 13:30

Hello to everyone, old and new, with a special wave over the border to JaneHH, Malaket, EHM ? not long to go now. Best, best, best of luck.

Well, I finally saw the consultant a week last Wednesday, and it?s now all systems go for starting down-regulation on 1 April (hopefully not a bad omen). The consultant said he estimates my chances as good, but I somehow suspect he says that to all the girls! Fortunately, the costs are not looking bad, with estimated total outlay at around ca. GBP 750.

I am actually feeling rather down about the whole thing at the moment. Is this normal? I thought I would feel nervous and excited, but I actually feel like just throwing in the towel. Someone give me a slap and tell me to pull myself together!

malaket · 14/03/2008 13:32

EHM - Not sure of the time scale but it has to be quite a short period something like a couple of hours only.

Keeping everything crossed for you, I think I am going to do a test tomorrow, feeling scared to do one to be honest as I dont know what its going to read.

Having lots of activity going on, so heres to positive thinking.

I am on day 11 as well.

nomoremagnolia · 14/03/2008 14:18

malaket Somehow I had missed the fact you were also on the 2ww. Everything crossed for you too

nomoremagnolia · 14/03/2008 14:23

RedQuen I'm sure it's normal to be feeling a bit anxious and I'm sure that's what it is you're feeling, you don't really want to 'throw in the towel' I guess you're just scared of things being taken out of your control? I have felt the same before now - having got a job interview I'd convinced myself I wouldn't get the job and thought that I'd be better off pulling out than being rejected. It's just nerves, I'm sure of it. (BTW I got the job in question)
Best of luck - we're here to help you through it

EHM · 14/03/2008 15:07

Thanks Everybody. malaket good luck with your test tomorrow. I am not testing anymore now, we have our blood test on Monday am. Clinic advice blood test 2 weeks after transfer, if you don't want the blood test. Do urine test 2 days later after blood test is due. I am thinking there is no point in beating myself up with BFN, if the clinic are telling me not to do a urine test until this time. So as I've said before its not over until the big AF sings.

Onlyaphase · 14/03/2008 16:39

Likewise me Malaket - I'm obviously not keeping up with this thread properly - good luck for tomorrow and your test.

soosy · 14/03/2008 20:44

Malaket, good luck with your test tomorrow, please let us know! and EHM with your bloods on Mon.

OAP good to see you I think it is wise to go for the good clinic as they are obviously booked up for a reason! Are you good on houseboats? If so then go for it! We are moving too, we have today accepted an offer on our house, DH still moaning it's not enough, but in this market I am rather staggered that we have had a reasonable offer quite so quickly! We are not going far so will be able to come back for treatment.

I think SS must be away, otherwise I would be sad to think she had abandoned us......

Red Queen it is all so bloody difficult, I swing from saying I am never doing this again to yes I have got to keep going on a daily basis. Your not strange, nobody would mind going through ivf if you knew it was 100% successful I think the real killer is the waiting and the failure. I hope everything goes well for you!

Have a lovely Friday night everyone, we are trying to avoid sports relief, which DH hates with a passion, so watching one of his terrible thrillers on DVD!

malaket · 15/03/2008 10:48

Hi all

Feeling numb, did the test this morning and it was negative, guess I will do another on Monday and then will have to arrange with the clinic for a blood test if I haven't started my period

Still clinging on to a little bit of hope like you do, I was so sure that it was working this time.

We have friends round this evening and really feel like I want to drink but am to scared too, guess I will just put on a brave face and solider through like always.

Just feel like screaming..............

JaneHH · 15/03/2008 11:32

Oh malaket, am crossing all my fingers for you that it's just too early to test. The whole not drinking thing is weird, isn't it - you don't want to "tempt fate" (as if embie is going to know you've got a glass of wine in your hand ) but a glass of wine is precisely what you need to chill and forget about it all for a mo... I hope you can let your evening with friends make you forget it all for a bit, wine or no wine.

Gute morgen RQ! oh actually it's afternoon for us already still in pj's... Chin up, when you finally get that BFP you will be soooo pleased you went through with it all. Go and do something nice today if you can How about some (decaffeinated) kaffee und küchen?

nomoremagnolia · 15/03/2008 15:37

(((malaket))) keeping my fingers crossed it was just too early though

EHM · 15/03/2008 18:11

EHM · 17/03/2008 13:23

nomoremagnolia · 17/03/2008 13:40

(((EHM)))

EHM · 17/03/2008 13:52

Thanks NMM I was ok cried for about 30 secs after they told me the result. DH has gone back to work & I can't stop crying. dd is napping at the moment she is full of cold poor wee soul. I am more upset than I thought I would be, I am not devasted as we are very lucky to have. Its pretty shite! 6 attempts not sure at moment if we will have another go with the last 2 frosties.
