Preparing to TTC in 2022

DH has agreed to starting to TTC baby #3 in April/May. We already have a 2 daughters (age 4 and 2). I'm so excited to start trying! I think it's going to be a long wait until we can start actively trying!

Starting to think about things to do to help prepare my body. I'm currently on the progesterone only pill so thinking of when to stop it. I have 5 days left in this packet and then one packet left after that in my current prescription. Don't know whether to stop when I finishes this packet or at the end of Jan after my next packet. Any experiences of how long it takes cycle to regulate after the pill?

I need to try and eat healthier as I've been so bad recently with Christmas but I'm a healthy weight so not too worried there. Also ordered some TTC vitamins which I remember from previous pregnancies is good to take 3 months before TTC.

Anything else I could do? Is there anyone else who will be starting to try later in the year and so excited that you're already on here 🙈?

@FourOclock same. I had a slightly bigger gap but being locked down with a 2.5 year old and 4 month old was very isolating and I struggled with my mental health because of it. Looking forward to a more 'normal' maternity leave next time!

So tough and I don't know about you but my eldest was so so awful around others when lockdown eased, would meltdown about going into buildings or if people came over. I know now he has ASD but I think a lot of toddlers were in the same position after a year of not socialising.

I'm nervous about being pregnant with two other children to look after, but also quite excited as we are in a better financial position than we were with the first two so now have a cleaner and more space at home thanks to the works done on the house (and just generally a more efficient use of space). It will still be hard in other ways I'm sure!

FourOclock · 19/02/2022 10:38

Back to TTC and I've just realised DH is on holiday for my fertile week next month Sad please let this month be successful I'll be so sad to not be able to try for a month.

lj2022 · 19/02/2022 12:14

@FourOclock oh sorry to hear that it's very frustrating when there are obstacles. Try look as a positive that it's another month getting to know your cycle with no pressure which may be good for your body. I know easier said than done as I always said I would never track and actually try and just stop preventing but here I am doing everything I said I wouldn't. I've noticed this month I've become quite obsessed with it all and I'm trying to look at the positives each month it doesn't happen. This month I'm looking at the fact I can go to a wedding and not have to hide an early pregnancy. Just try have sex for fun and enjoy it out with the fertile window. Let's really hope it happens this month though 🤞🤞 it really is a rollercoaster journey

To be honest I just know when I ovulate now after two babies, I'm like clockwork every month 🙈 not the end of the world if it doesn't happen for a month but because it took us so long to get pregnant with my first, I get a bit panicky about just not even trying for a month. Especially as I've been ready for another for about 6 months now and only just got DH on board Grin

lj2022 · 19/02/2022 14:47

@FourOclock Aw that's so good you know your cycle very well. Completely understand the anxiety's surrounding it. If only it was all so smooth sailing where we could just know it would happen easily or when

WingingIt09 · 19/02/2022 20:01

@FourOclock my eldest is definitely more anxious post covid. I'm definitely nervous about pregnancy with 2 kids to look after as they can be so exhausting themselves!
That's frustrating about your fertile week🤞🏻 for this month so you don't need to worry about it x

@tryingtryinggone I’m sorry to hear about you miscarriage. Flowers I hope this time round is free of heartbreak and quick.

I did give birth on the ward as they didn’t believe I was in labour… it did destroy my trust in midwives slightly but I’m working on it ready for round two. They actually sent my husband home.

@FourOclock I don’t know how I’d have coped if I had a normal time then it all taken away when my dd was so young, so fair play to you for coping with it.

Hopefully it will all be different now on!! Grin

I’ve managed to lose 2lbs this week just by cutting out snacking, so hopefully I’ll get back to target weight by June. Hope everyone is having a good weekend and not hammering too many fence panels back up Grin

DanceWithYourBalloon · 19/02/2022 20:34

Pah! Period came slightly earlier than usual and is now over so it's time to ttc.
Husband has come down with COVID. 😑
Hopefully we can still try this month.

WingingIt09 · 19/02/2022 22:57

@DanceWithYourBalloon hopefully he only has it mildly and you're still able to try this cycle xxx

How are our other posters currently TTC getting on? I think we have a few in the TWW?

Cheekypeach · 19/02/2022 23:03

Well I did my first ttc-madness-thing today and bought a box of first response tests in Boots 😂 despite the fact I won’t be testing until the end of March and that’s if my period isn’t a day or two early 🤔

And please tell me I’m not the only one looking at baby clothes online Confused

And that’s annoying @FourOclock Sad a month seems such a long time to wait when ttc doesn’t it. Make sure you DTD just before he goes in case you ovulate a day or two early! Sperm can survive a few days at least.

Cheekypeach · 19/02/2022 23:06

I also know what you mean about being excited ttc when in a better life/financial position, Four.

We moved house 6 months ago and have gone from a tiny townhouse on a main road to a larger house in a really nice town by the sea. Plus covid hit when DD was 6 months old. Everything is so much more in place this time round, it feels like it will be night and day compared to my last pregnancy/maternity leave.

FourOclock · 20/02/2022 07:03

@Cheekypeach haven't looked at baby clothes yet but have been looking at prams and maternity clothes 😅

I think we MIGHT be okay next month if we DTD as soon as DH gets home, worth a try anyway. We planned it this way before TTC because I have so much more energy and patience around ovulation time so we felt this the best time for me to be left alone with the DC Grin backfired slightly now of course

Vasectomyreversalhopeful · 20/02/2022 08:25

I look at baby clothes too cheeky!

I am excited to be doing it in a better financial situation too four. Am going to enjoy getting stuff based on what we want rather than the cheapest

Nyxxie · 20/02/2022 09:16

@Cheekypeach I actually have a little baby outfit that my OH bought as a way of telling me he was ready to start TTC! I am currently looking at baby clothes a lot for my SIL who is due soon, but saving stuff that I would want for my own as well!

@WingingIt09 I'm hopefully ovulating in the next few days so be in the dreaded TWW soon!

Dreamingof3 · 20/02/2022 09:21

I have lots of online shopping baskets full of baby clothes but I haven't actually bought anything...yet 🙈

FourOclock · 20/02/2022 10:21

All my baby clothes are unisex up to 6 months so I'm going to try not to buy any until baby is born, but if I crumble and find out it's a girl at the scan then I might buy a token outfit Grin with my first I was so controlled just buying bundles off Facebook marketplace and then while in labour made a huge order of cute clothes 😂

I'm now officially in the TWW 😬

WingingIt09 · 20/02/2022 11:01

I look at baby clothes regularly but not buying anything. We will probably have another girl so won't need any clothes. May need a few unisex newborn bits as we aren't planning on finding out this time, whereas we did with DD1 and DD2 so not sure we have enough unisex bits to keep us going in case it is a boy. Of course I may cave on that and end up finding out 😂

Happy symptom spotting @FourOclock hope TWW goes quickly for you, @Nyxxie lots of DTD for you this weekend then!

OP posts:
Dreamingof3 · 20/02/2022 12:30

@WingingIt09 I gave all my newborn bits away 🙈 so will have to start over anyway!

I generally like unisex bits on babies anyway so that just means I can start buying right away 😂 I think we'll find out the gender this time

@fouroclock 🤞🤞

WingingIt09 · 20/02/2022 12:44

@Dreamingof3 you'll get all the fun of buying again then! Sort of hoping for a boy just so I have an excuse to buy baby clothes 😂 my husband is hoping for another girl so we can save money and don't have to buy anything 😂

OP posts:
Cheekypeach · 20/02/2022 12:47

Next have all their baby Christmas outfits on sale, I feel to tempted to add one of the babygrows to my order in the hope that I’ll have a Christmas baby Blush to be fair they are around £3 though so will hardly break the bank if we don’t conceive in the next couple of months!

Cheekypeach · 20/02/2022 12:49

Period is due a week today, can’t wait to get it out the way now so we can start trying. Just need to really double down on my blood sugars in the meantime 🤞🏻 What are your projected next testing dates ladies?

Dreamingof3 · 20/02/2022 12:54

I am really tempted to buy a little baby grow with the excuse that I'll use it to tell my other half if/when we get a positive

Cheekypeach · 20/02/2022 13:00

Fab idea! DH complained my announcement was nothing special last time (and it wasn’t, I phoned him at work, think I was in shock lol) so that’s a great idea! Makes me look less insane buying one haha!
Vasectomyreversalhopeful · 20/02/2022 13:02

We have got rid of everything so have no option but to buy lots of baby clothes, such a hardship Grin

I'm not buying anything until after 12 weeks however. Due to the vasectomy I am very much aware that pregnancy may never happen and it would break my heart to have stuff in but no baby.
