Preparing to TTC in 2022

DH has agreed to starting to TTC baby #3 in April/May. We already have a 2 daughters (age 4 and 2). I'm so excited to start trying! I think it's going to be a long wait until we can start actively trying!

Starting to think about things to do to help prepare my body. I'm currently on the progesterone only pill so thinking of when to stop it. I have 5 days left in this packet and then one packet left after that in my current prescription. Don't know whether to stop when I finishes this packet or at the end of Jan after my next packet. Any experiences of how long it takes cycle to regulate after the pill?

I need to try and eat healthier as I've been so bad recently with Christmas but I'm a healthy weight so not too worried there. Also ordered some TTC vitamins which I remember from previous pregnancies is good to take 3 months before TTC.

Anything else I could do? Is there anyone else who will be starting to try later in the year and so excited that you're already on here 🙈?

It is addictive isn’t it 😆 I’m determined to wait until my period is a day late before testing because I know otherwise I’ll become a woman possessed!

@Dreamingof3 I may have done one today after seeing your positive, it wasn't stark white like it was the other day (although looked at it out of time due to my 2 year old having a melt down over nap time 🙈). Will probably do another tomorrow now

@WingingIt09 I have done 3 more today 🤣 all very similar but I definitely think I caught my peak earlier! I've inputted it all into my apps anyway so we'll see what happens next

Hello ! Can I join please? We are hoping to start trying in May following an ectopic pregnancy just before Christmas. Everything in me is screaming to try immediately but we agreed that I need to physically and mentally recover, I need to lose a few stone and we have a holiday in May to Disney which is more fun not pregnant ! I have one DS, 2.5.

Started taking vitamins again after stopping when it all went wrong. Took my first ovulation test this morning to start tracking my cycles. Just finding the losing weight bit tricky between my toddler and work and life !

Hi @bellanutella88 I'm sorry to hear about your loss 💔 I think giving yourself a bit of time is a good idea.

I'm also trying in May after our holiday! Have a 2.5 year old and 5.5 year old at the moment. And I'm trying to lose weight...fairly unsuccessfully 😅

@Dreamingof3 thank you ! Definitely and the rational part of me knows that. Before I fell pregnant before we wasn’t trying or preventing so I was almost shocked when I did fall but now I’m desperate to be back there.

Ah we are in very similar situation then ! I think using the holiday as a goal post is a great way to do it, it’s the only thing making me wait ha.

I feel you on the weight thing. Every day I promise myself I’ll do better and then I can’t help myself. I’m a comfort eater and the last few months I’ve wanted comfort.

How are you finding preventing til May ? I don’t want to go back on the pill but neither of us like condoms. That’s why I’ve started tracking now.

I came off my pill at new year so just tracking for now so I can hopefully know what's what when we actually want to conceive. Neither of us particularly like condoms either but well use them until April/may as I don't trust just knowing my cycles yet 😂

Weightloss is so hard isn't it! I'm definitely a comfort eater too, and a boredom eater 🙈

I am also trying from May and have one DS age 6 :)

Am also trying to lose weight before then although not worrying about it this week as have Covid.

@BellaNutella88 welcome and I'm so sorry for your loss. I understand that feeling of wanting to try straight away, I had a miscarriage last July of an unplanned pregnancy and just felt like I needed to try straight away. After discussion with my DH we decided to wait. We have 2 DDs age 4 and 2, and will be trying in May after our holiday to Disney! I am also trying to lose weight very unsuccessfully as I am a comfort eater and work is stressful atm!

@WingingIt09 thank you and I’m really sorry you had to go through that too, pregnancy loss is awful. Oh wow, yay for Disney ! I keep telling myself if I get pregnant before I can’t go on Tower of Terror. And it’s not really for my toddler we are even going… it’s for me !

I want to be able to enjoy the rides with my girls and also want to be able to sneak off and do some of the bigger ones whilst they're with their grandparents 😂 Which Disney are you going to?

It can take a while to regulate after the pill. I've been off it a year now and my cycles had got back to normal just before I fell. And one of the covid jabs through me out too.

Haha I'm the same, fancy a few big thrill rides ! We are going to Paris, how about you? I love the Florida parks but Paris felt more doable with a toddler.

@BellaNutella88 we're going to Paris too. Would have loved to do Florida but wasn't feasible cost wise! Hope my cycles don't take too long and return in time for TTC in May!

@WingingIt09 florida prices are unusually high right now following the US reopening and all the extra costs Disney have added since. Hopefully it comes back down in the next few years !

I'm sure it will. You've given yourself a good amount of time. The first time I came off the pill with my son I was pregnant 4 months later. May will be exciting !

Also, does anyone know how long after THE SEX, implantation happens? I've been getting awful cramps this morning but not like my usual period pains but I dunno if it's too early for it to be implantation cramps 😕

I think it's meant to be somewhere between 6 and 12 days after ovulation that you'd get implantation x

@BellaNutella88 - I understand completely, it makes things easier to have something positive to focus on coming down the line!

We have two holidays coming up as well, and I'm stupidly exited! One is a "honeymoon" (our original honeymoon was meant to be in May 2020), and its a completely different and not as amazing holiday but still very exciting! The other is a family holiday which was meant to be in 2021 and has now been rebooked.

I'm just in a bit of a tizz about the timings RE TTC as it would be awkward to not be drinking on the family holiday but v unlikely to be necessary so I'm probably worrying over nothing
