Preparing to TTC in 2022

DH has agreed to starting to TTC baby #3 in April/May. We already have a 2 daughters (age 4 and 2). I'm so excited to start trying! I think it's going to be a long wait until we can start actively trying!

Starting to think about things to do to help prepare my body. I'm currently on the progesterone only pill so thinking of when to stop it. I have 5 days left in this packet and then one packet left after that in my current prescription. Don't know whether to stop when I finishes this packet or at the end of Jan after my next packet. Any experiences of how long it takes cycle to regulate after the pill?

I need to try and eat healthier as I've been so bad recently with Christmas but I'm a healthy weight so not too worried there. Also ordered some TTC vitamins which I remember from previous pregnancies is good to take 3 months before TTC.

Anything else I could do? Is there anyone else who will be starting to try later in the year and so excited that you're already on here 🙈?

@OCM19 @Vasectomyreversalhopeful I was thinking 3dpo is too soon but I feel so out of sync with my body since coming off contraception. Does anyone else feel that way?

@hevann I think 3dpo is too early for implantation it's usually 6 days minimum maybe just some late ovulation spotting who knows 😂

lj2022 · 10/02/2022 16:59

@Cheekypeach that's a good strong LH test! Are you only using ovulation strips ? I'd continue to take them every day maybe 2x daily as it can be hard to catch your surge sometimes but just DTD every other day and hopefully that will catch your fertile period/ovulation day

OCM19 · 10/02/2022 17:04

@lj2022 I definitely feel out of sync with my body, I think it will take a while to adjust.

It could be, or maybe you ovulated a bit later so you’re maybe only 1 or 2 DPO? X

NarnieJoy · 10/02/2022 17:12

@Cheekypeach I’m the same, I’m normally a 28/29 day cycle and always seem to ovulate day1 12/13, just some women are early ovulaters! We are always led to believe that we should all tick to 28 day/day 14 ov but that’s just the culmination of the data sets so a few days either side is deemed normal.

This paper suggests that only 10% of women on a 28 day cycle will ovulate day 14! And yeah positive LH normally means you will ov 24/48 hrs later

Dreamingof3 · 10/02/2022 17:36

Its all sp confusing isn't it. Sometimes I wish I'd not read anything about it amd was still just naive 🤣

Actually with my second I just followed a generic app and didn't fall pregnant until the month we stopped trying so I'm assuming I either ovulate earlier or later than 'average'

Jennifer89 · 10/02/2022 18:22

Hi ladies, just wondered if any of you are fairly new in jobs and planning to ttc. Been at my current job for 7 months and passed probation but still wonder if getting pregnant this year colleagues will think seems soon into new company to be pregnant.. My DH tries to remind me not to care what others will think but I do unfortunately..

Vasectomyreversalhopeful · 10/02/2022 18:34

Last time I TTC my body went haywire for a while. I think it knew I needed it to be reliable Grin

I really wouldn't worry Jennifer, just check that you are eligible for mat pay and then don't worry. Whenever I worked with someone who announced pregnancy I was just really pleased for them, never considered how long they had been there etc.

Oh, how interesting! Just gave it a quick read while in the hairdresser Wink

WingingIt09 · 10/02/2022 19:32

@Cheekypeach that's a strong positive!

@Jennifer89 I wouldn't worry too much. I have done it... I was in my job a few weeks when I found out I was pregnant (work for the NHS so just had to have a years continuous service rather than a year with that particular NHS trust) and then interviewed for another job whilst on maternity and started that when my leave finished (they had to wait for my leave to finish before I started the job 🙊). I then fell pregnant with my second after 4 months and went off on maternity leave just over a year after starting the job 🙊🙊 So you can't be any worse than me!

As another poster said just check maternity policy for when you qualify for occupational maternity pay (if you qualify for any at all, some employers only offer statutory) e.g. in mine I had to be working for the NHS for 1 year by my 25th week of pregnancy to qualify for the enhanced pay rather than just statutory.

@OCM19 very possibly! Natural cycles had me at 3dpo but I imagine I could vary a little will hopefully confirm tomorrow if I've actually even ovulated. Temp was a bit weird this morning due to disturbed sleep so had to exclude it. Just a waiting game need to try keep myself busy

Jennifer89 · 10/02/2022 20:07

@Vasectomyreversalhopeful and @WingingIt09, thank you. Agreed I should try not to worry about that. Checked and it maternity policy and even if pregnant now I would qualify for the standard benefits. I think just need to live my life and not concern myself about that. Men don't need to worry about these things..

HippeePrincess · 10/02/2022 20:11

@Jennifer89 I’m 7/8 months into a new job too, for the nhs for the first time and I have waiting to be eligible for occupational mat pay (the first 3 months of my job didn’t count towards continuous employment sadly) just passed my probation as well. Don’t forget you’ll be working through most of your pregnancy too so it’ll not like you’re leaving right away. Definitely don’t worry about your colleagues!

Thanks for posting this! I was thinking today that if I go off my EWCM (which I only ever tend to see 1 day per cycle) it looks like I'm ovulating "late" - not in the middle of my cycle. And I was going to Google and see if that looked pheasible! So you've answered my question 🙂

LucyLoopyLu · 10/02/2022 20:18

@Jennifer89
I started a new job in May last year! Very paranoid from previous horrible company having a track record of making people redundant when they were on maternity, but my new company is far more professional and much less sexist! Even if I conceive straight away with no issues I will have been there over a year before I tell them (agreed between me and my husband for other reasons as well). But as my friend pointed out, unless you start your maternity very early you still have a few more months to work before your leave! You have to be selfish I think.

Jennifer89 · 10/02/2022 20:30

I think as passed my probation and by the time I end pregnant I will have been at the company for at least around a year which I think is reasonable amount of time. Can't just put other things in life on hold..
I work in a team of pretty much mostly men so just hope no judgements. They don't seem like they would do so sure it will be fine.

tryingtryinggone · 10/02/2022 21:52

@Jennifer89 I’ve only been at my job since September and to qualify for maternity leave I need to have worked there a year by 25th week of pregnancy (so 6 months before getting pregnant basically) which is why we’re waiting a few more months. Definitely not something I feel guilty about haha

OCM19 · 11/02/2022 08:32

@Jennifer89 I work in Employment Law and please be rest assured they can’t discriminate against you because you fall pregnant, please don’t worry, although I know it’s easier said than done Smile

My AF arrived last night, so CD2 for me. I’m going to get some cheap ovulation and pregnancy tests from Amazon so I can satisfy my need to poas 😂

NarnieJoy · 11/02/2022 09:10

@OCM19 on to the next month! It’s amazing how quickly ov will come around again.

Jennifer89 · 11/02/2022 09:35

@tryingtryinggone good, not something you should feel guilty about!

@OCM19 thank you, that is reassuring!
Good luck for next time.. i need to get myself some of those sticks too, think will start month before plan ttc..

lj2022 · 11/02/2022 10:26

@OCM19 fingers crossed for this cycle for you 🤞 I got some off Amazon that seem to be good! Are you doing anything else to track ?

Dreamingof3 · 11/02/2022 10:29

I've just got my first ever positive ovulation test! 37 days after my withdrawal bleed 😅 although I've read it can rise before your period...but not sure how strong it would be then?

WingingIt09 · 11/02/2022 11:52

@Dreamingof3 yay! I'm impressed you've persevered with the tests. I've given up with both tests and bbt atm until my period decides to arrive (goodness knows when that'll be 🙄)

@WingingIt09 I gave up for a while but then the urge came back 🤣

Told my other half he's not allowed within 2 feet of me for the next few days though 🤭
