Preparing to TTC in 2022

DH has agreed to starting to TTC baby #3 in April/May. We already have a 2 daughters (age 4 and 2). I'm so excited to start trying! I think it's going to be a long wait until we can start actively trying!

Starting to think about things to do to help prepare my body. I'm currently on the progesterone only pill so thinking of when to stop it. I have 5 days left in this packet and then one packet left after that in my current prescription. Don't know whether to stop when I finishes this packet or at the end of Jan after my next packet. Any experiences of how long it takes cycle to regulate after the pill?

I need to try and eat healthier as I've been so bad recently with Christmas but I'm a healthy weight so not too worried there. Also ordered some TTC vitamins which I remember from previous pregnancies is good to take 3 months before TTC.

Anything else I could do? Is there anyone else who will be starting to try later in the year and so excited that you're already on here 🙈?

So after 3 weeks & 3 days of coming off the pill I have finally started my withdrawal bleed! Phew! I got all excited this morning to finally have it and then the cramping started 😩 I'd totally forgotten what this feels like 😢

OCM19 · 09/02/2022 07:46

@hevann that’s great news 🙌 fingers crossed you can start tracking your cycles now!

@Cheekypeach a few of my friends were in may leave during the first lockdown and I can only imagine how hard that must have been. Definitely plan to do classes and get out to meet others, it really does make the world of difference - you don’t want to regret not doing things.

I woke up this morning and feel ‘normal’ with no dizziness or cramping. I have a feeling I’m out this month but will wait to see this weekend. I enjoy tracking my cycle and ovulation etc, but wow this TWW is definitely the hardest part of the cycle!

lj2022 · 09/02/2022 11:37

@OCM19 how many DPO are you ? I'm only 2 into TWW and have really bad stomach cramping but it's so hard to tell if it's just body adjusting to not being on contraception. Some people don't get any symptoms in TWW so fingers crossed.

OCM19 · 09/02/2022 14:28

@lj2022 I’m 11DPO, I also experienced similar symptoms straight after ovulation. I am tempted to do a FRER test but I’ve read reviews that they can give false positives due to testing a lower hCG. Good luck with your TWW 🤞 z

lj2022 · 09/02/2022 15:30

@OCM19 oh not too much longer to wait for you! All fingers crossed for you 🤞 thanks it feels like it's going to be a long two weeks

tryingtryinggone · 09/02/2022 15:39

@Cheekypeach my little one was born in October 2020 between lockdowns. We spent the first 6 months of her life at home and I feel like my maternity leave was stolen from me basically. Husband unable to come to any of my scans, having to be induced alone (having to have the consultant conversation and make that decision alone too - that was awful!) and then missing out on all the socialising at the beginning and her hardly meeting anyone for so long. Was rough! There were obviously some positives to it too like being able to get confident with her needs and spending such quality time together which is what I keep reminding myself but I can’t wait for my second one to not have to go through all that (hopefully!!)

tryingtryinggone · 09/02/2022 15:57

Is anyone else wanting to lose some weight before getting pregnant?
I’ve got a couple of stone I want to lose and this should be the biggest motivation but I just love food! Haha
I lost these 2 stone before my first baby and put them on during pregnancy and they’ve stuck around since

DanisEndo · 09/02/2022 16:01

@tryingtryinggone also trying to loose some weight first, about a couple of stone as well, 7 lbs down so far! Also looove food so its not easy ahah

NarnieJoy · 09/02/2022 16:22

@OCM19 are you going to test tomorrow? Or just see if AF turns up? Xx

OCM19 · 09/02/2022 16:30

@NarnieJoy ahh I really don’t know! I will probably cave and go and buy more tests as I am wfh alone so lots of time to think about things! How are you doing?

lj2022 · 09/02/2022 17:27

@tryingtryinggone I'm so sorry about your first Mat leave hoping this experience is a lot better for you. I'm trying to lose around 1.5st and get into the way of weight training again as my friend is training to be a PT so him dragging me out of bed at 7.30 to go before work is a bonus to keep me motivated. However I know if I get pregnant soon I'll need to just train gently and try and become fit as opposed to loose weight. Might need to find a course on exercising and pregnancy as the last thing I want is to put more on and feel huge during pregnancy! Set a small goal of half a stone first it always feels more manageable to me and keeps me motivated. But must be hard with having a kid already to try and find time for yourself x

NarnieJoy · 09/02/2022 17:44

@OCM19 I’m doing ok, it hit DH today that our last summer as a couple (hopefully!) is this year so he’s gone into holiday planning mode. I think we might go to Canada as I’ve never been. So I’m getting excited for that, we both have a few days off next week to relax together so going to book a spa.

WFH it’s hard not to overthink and want to test! Although I think I’m going to be an addict to cheapies.

tryingtryinggone · 09/02/2022 19:14

@lj2022 oh wow what good motivation! And yes, I agree smaller goals are much more manageable and achievable. That’s what I need to do!
Yes, time for myself is non existent. She definitely keeps me active though which is why I need to concentrate on the food side of things really

tryingtryinggone · 09/02/2022 19:15

@DanisEndo well done with the weight loss already!!

WingingIt09 · 09/02/2022 19:26

@Cheekypeach @tryingtryinggone yes definitely agree about maternity leave being lost to lockdowns. My second was 4 months when we went into lockdown and I felt that we were so robbed! Particularly as lockdown meant my 2 year old was home from nursery too so DD2 got no 1:1 time with me for months 😢 I felt so isolated second time around, made it so much harder!

Really looking forward to a more normal maternity leave hopefully with my third and being able to make the most of all the groups.

@LucyLoopyLu welcome!

@hevann that's great news! You can start tracking properly now ahead of TTC in March

HippeePrincess · 09/02/2022 20:51

@Cheekypeach there’s no reason you can’t do it pregnant!

@tryingtryinggone I’m supposed to be losing the Christmas weight and the last of the bit I wanted to get rid of before ttc and I’m not getting very far!

I can do it though I lost 2.5stone last spring/summer.

I know there’s 9 months to get things sorted but invariably they don’t always work and I’m not risking it, neither am I risking being pregnant without at least having the house on the market/in the moving process.

Dreamingof3 · 10/02/2022 07:17

Hi everyone! Just had a quick read through, so much to catch up on 😅
I love that we've got a great group of us here now all going through the same kinds of things!

I'm currently on cd36 if you count my withdrawal bleed as the start of my cycle and haven't had a positive ovulation test yet (although I've not being doing it consistently!)so I'm in the just wanting my period to show up club 😂

I'm also trying to lose weight...its not going great. I've managed about a stone so far but any more just isn't shifting, and I definitely have it to lose. I was having tests on my thyroid last year which were borderline needing medication for so I've booked another blood test in to see if that's the issue! I had gd in my last pregnancy and maintained my weight the whole way through so I'm hoping to get to a better weight before falling pregnant this time and do the same so I don't have to worry after 🤞

lj2022 · 10/02/2022 09:16

So I think I'm out this month. Looks like AF is possibly making an appearance very early. Hard to tell but I'm sure it's too early dpo for implantation bleeding. So frustrating not knowing what your body is doing after so many years on contraception. I'm not too disappointed as I wasn't expecting anything this month anyway but just a little frustrating

OCM19 · 10/02/2022 13:08

@lj2022 how many DPO are you?

I’ve just wiped and had light pink blood so think my af may also have arrived. I’m CD29, 12DPO but tested negative this morning (before the bleeding). I will see if it turns into my af but pretty sure it will ☹️

lj2022 · 10/02/2022 14:29

@OCM19 I'm either 3 or 5 natural cycles was changing my estimated ovulation date and has not yet confirmed but I think 3 dpo. Mines now hasn't come to anything today so very confused 😳 aw I hope yours doesn't turn into AF. Who knew the TWW would be so hard

OCM19 · 10/02/2022 14:36

@lj2022 gosh I would definitely say 3DPO is too early for AF. I had a bit of spotting the day after ovulation, could it be that?

I wiped again and it’s just a bit of brown. I never spot before my period, but then again I’ve always been on birth control so this may be different.

hevann · 10/02/2022 14:56

@OCM19 @lj2022 Could it be implant bleeding? I've been reading a lot about getting pregnant etc.. as I've never done it 🤣

I have my fingers crossed for you both 😘 x

Vasectomyreversalhopeful · 10/02/2022 15:10

I am another one wanting to lose weight!

3DPO sounds too early to me lj2022 so don't write this month off yet :)

Cheekypeach · 10/02/2022 16:16

Cycle trackers, what day do you get a positive OPK? Just got a strong pos on CD11 so assume will ovulate tomorrow on CD12, I usually have a 27 day cycle so not sure if this seems a little early?

Cheekypeach · 10/02/2022 16:44

Posting now it’s dried off a little 😂
