Preparing to TTC in 2022

WingingIt09 · 28/12/2021 22:39

DH has agreed to starting to TTC baby #3 in April/May. We already have a 2 daughters (age 4 and 2). I'm so excited to start trying! I think it's going to be a long wait until we can start actively trying!

Starting to think about things to do to help prepare my body. I'm currently on the progesterone only pill so thinking of when to stop it. I have 5 days left in this packet and then one packet left after that in my current prescription. Don't know whether to stop when I finishes this packet or at the end of Jan after my next packet. Any experiences of how long it takes cycle to regulate after the pill?

I need to try and eat healthier as I've been so bad recently with Christmas but I'm a healthy weight so not too worried there. Also ordered some TTC vitamins which I remember from previous pregnancies is good to take 3 months before TTC.

Anything else I could do? Is there anyone else who will be starting to try later in the year and so excited that you're already on here 🙈?

@Dreamingof3 @WingingIt09 I am one of three, my sister 10 years younger than me, and my parents have no regrets. It was tight, but we just couldn't imagine life without my sister, she's amazing. Especially as me and older sister are financially independent earlier, my parents can treat my sister to so much and its lovely to see.

NarnieJoy · 08/02/2022 09:58

@Trixie22 finger's crossed for you! I am a Christmas day baby, and it's ok! Have to remind DH not to do joint because he would if he could Grin

OCM19 · 08/02/2022 10:00

@NarnieJoy and @Cheekypeach I really hope so, but I don't want to get my hopes up! Yes that exact feeling, every time I stand up I feel very lightheaded! I am tempted to get a FRER test but promised myself I would test with DH this weekend.

Haha, I felt like that last week, I've never felt that fertile it was such a strange sensation!! Safe to say DH enjoyed it while it lasted! It has totally gone now though haha!

NarnieJoy · 08/02/2022 10:00

@lj2022 eeek, natural cycles has really helped me pin down my cycles! Are you trying this month? I seem to have lost track of the list... have you been added? We have been putting our ages too.

NarnieJoy · 08/02/2022 10:10

@Vasectomyreversalhopeful How are you doing? Has the appointment happened?

Dreamingof3 · 08/02/2022 10:36

@OCM19 that sounds promising! If you manage to wait to test and you are pregnant then I'd bet you'd get a nice line 🤩 how exciting to get our first group bfp soon 🤞🤞
Will still be going to Cyprus as its my brothers wedding 🤣 just whether we celebrate with water or wine 🍷

Dreamingof3 · 08/02/2022 10:36

*although I'm hoping I'll be pregnant by then so just water for me anyway 🤣

OCM19 · 08/02/2022 11:15

@Dreamingof3 oh what a lovely place to get married, when’s the wedding? Fingers crossed you’ll be pregnant before then.

I tested this morning and still no hint of a line, I just need to wait now, easier said than done! The FRER tests are so expensive!

Vasectomyreversalhopeful · 08/02/2022 11:16

Sorry for being AWOL Narnie! It was DS' birthday last week so been very busy :)

How is everyone doing?

9 weeks and 2 days until the reversal, getting excited!

lj2022 · 08/02/2022 12:34

I am trying this month ovulation was yesterday (well predicted) temp has gone up slightly today but awaiting confirmation over the next few days if temp goes up. Only first natural cycle after coming off the pill so not holding out too much hope but 🤞 not sure if I’ve been added to the list completely new to mums net! I’m 27 x

NarnieJoy · 08/02/2022 12:52

@OCM19 I’ve started buying frers when I see them so I have a small stash and spread the cost out a bit! I’m not going to go crazy though, although I probably am for buying them 5 months before ttc!!!

Dreamingof3 · 08/02/2022 16:25

@ocm19 it looks beautiful but I wish they'd picked somewhere closer to home, it's costing us a fortune 🤣

WingingIt09 · 08/02/2022 17:13

@OCM19 I did one this morning and BFN so lasts nights we're clearly indents. That's what you get for using cheap tests 😂 not wasting an expensive test atm though, I'm just testing once a week since AF still hasn't arrived. I've read up to 3 months for it to return by which point I'll have lost my mind if it takes that long. I know it's just as I've come off the pill but I'm anxious maybe something is wrong since my period came back straight away last time! Your symptoms sound positive so 🤞🏻 for a BFP for you this weekend!

Welcome @lj2022 will add you to the list

@WingingIt09 thank you for adding me to the list let's hope we are all blessed this year

QueenBee22 · 08/02/2022 20:05

@OCM19 thanks I am trying to keep myself distracted and busy and going to try not to test until this day next week at the earliest! It feels like much longer than 2 weeks when you are waiting..

FIngers crossed for you over the next few days

HippeePrincess · 08/02/2022 20:50

@WingingIt09 I know I’ve said it before but really do not worry too much about your awol cycle, happened to me over 3 months: was still pregnant within 4 months so first cycle following first natural period.
I genuinely think the worrying and stress extended it.
I recall burning some aromatherapy for hormonal regulation including clary sage I believe and I got my period that week, probably coincidentally but whatever works/sets your mind at rest.

HippeePrincess · 08/02/2022 21:01

@Jennifer89 that sounds really stressful!

I had car trouble last summer and ended up spending quite a bit of money getting these things sorted out but then both cars died. So I wiped my savings buying another and that hasn’t exactly been trouble free either. Then DP failed his driving test and there’s no more available in our area. I’m just not willing to get pregnant unless he can drive, my children’s school isn’t within walking distance and I do not want to say end up having an EMCS and being unable to get them to school for 6 weeks. Or if I want to attend hospital instead of home birth I can’t exactly drive myself Grin.
I have half term off work and hopefully we’ll make some progress on our home then.
We’re going to be on the most ridiculous tight budget adding a third child but we can’t leave it any longer, we’re going to need quite a large (for us) mortgage to get us the space we want and need and adding the recent energy prices to the mix I’m thinking we’ll not be able to afford a second car, meaning one of us will be a bit stuck depending on where we move to. Isolated at home with a young baby and toddler (dp) while I work full time is not going to be fun, happened to me as a new mum and I got very depressed.

WingingIt09 · 08/02/2022 21:05

@HippeePrincess yes that's what I keep telling myself. My rational side knows that... the worrier in me goes to the extreme of fertility issues with no real basis 😑

Will look into the aromatherapy, think I still have some clary sage from trying to induce my second when I went overdue 😂🙈 even if it doesn't work then it'll be something to relax me and de stress

Hi everyone!

Hope it's OK if I join! I am 33 (husband nearly 36) and planning to start TTC in April. I have had a copper coil for 4 years and hoping to get an appointment for removal in March!

I am also over-planning everything and relieved to know I am not alone. Have been taking vitamins tracking cycles and getting healthy for a while (had my last drunken nights over Xmas / New Year!)
I think part of the problem is having had to put off for nearly 2 years due to pandemic related problems so now I am quite desperate to get on with things and can't wait for it to be over. I hate doctors, needles, etc. etc. so there are a few things I am absolutely dreading 🤣

So glad to know I am not alone! Feel jealous of my friends who got pregnant accidentally or really fast

HippeePrincess · 08/02/2022 21:30

Useful stuff that clary sage, probably need some more for when we’re in peri menopause too 🤣

Jennifer89 · 08/02/2022 21:37

@WingingIt09 thank you for adding me Smile. Bet spring/summer will come round before we know it and hoping we get some baby positive news this year.

Jennifer89 · 08/02/2022 21:45

@HippeePrincess I am sure he will pass next time and still has 9 months plus to do it.. that's what I try to remind myself too with preparing for pregnancy mentally and financially there is 9 months to prepare.
I can understand you wanting a car during maternity leave so you have more freedom so have my fingers crossed it works out for you.

OCM19 · 08/02/2022 21:58

@Vasectomyreversalhopeful not long to go now! How are you and your DH feeling about it?

Welcome to the new members, this board is so supportive!

Cheekypeach · 08/02/2022 23:27

I agree @HippeePrincess about the car, for us it’s the other way round! DH drives but I can’t - I’ve got my theory next month & have booked an intensive for July eek! Would I still be able to do this if I was 4 months pregnant?! I really want to pass my test before the next baby.

Did anyone else have a pandemic maternity leave last time? I was quite unwell in & out of hospital when DD was born, then covid hit 2 weeks after I was permanently discharged (couldn’t make it up 🙄). I really feel like it ruined my maternity leave - no baby groups, no family visits, even our walks were restricted. I’m really keen to enjoy all the things on my next maternity leave that I didn’t get to enjoy last time - I’m already monitoring pregnancy yoga groups in my area 😆
