Preparing to TTC in 2022

DH has agreed to starting to TTC baby #3 in April/May. We already have a 2 daughters (age 4 and 2). I'm so excited to start trying! I think it's going to be a long wait until we can start actively trying!

Starting to think about things to do to help prepare my body. I'm currently on the progesterone only pill so thinking of when to stop it. I have 5 days left in this packet and then one packet left after that in my current prescription. Don't know whether to stop when I finishes this packet or at the end of Jan after my next packet. Any experiences of how long it takes cycle to regulate after the pill?

I need to try and eat healthier as I've been so bad recently with Christmas but I'm a healthy weight so not too worried there. Also ordered some TTC vitamins which I remember from previous pregnancies is good to take 3 months before TTC.

Anything else I could do? Is there anyone else who will be starting to try later in the year and so excited that you're already on here 🙈?

@DanisEndo I had exactly the same idea as you today in terms of going for a run…took DS to nursery only to be told they have had to close his class due to Covid cases with staff so he’s been home with us while we’ve tried to work! Perhaps I can start tomorrow! I’ve done couch to 5K before so will pick that up in the middle somewhere I think.

My bleedings stopped so I think I’m going to start ov. Tests soon.

HippeePrincess · 17/01/2022 17:51

@Dreamingof3 I did a shake plan last spring and lost 2 stone in a couple of months, then over half a stone low carbing. It was much better losing it quickly for me otherwise I get demotivated. Looking at calorie counting/lower carb again for the Christmas weight and hope to lose half to a stone before march/april.

Dreamingof3 · 17/01/2022 18:18

@hippeeprincess that's exactly the same as me, I get so fed up if it doesn't go quickly 🤣
I had gestational diabetes in my last pregnancy so I'm going to assume I'll have it again and I know with that I can maintain my weight through pregnancy so I'd really like to get to my goal before. It may not happen but the closer I can get the better.
I think I'm.going to commit to really going for it for a month. Then gradually swap each meal for a healthy real meal 🤣
@wingingit09 I'm getting absolutely nothing! I don't know what's going on!

WingingIt09 · 17/01/2022 18:49

@Dreamingof3 how odd.... how long have you been doing them? I wonder if you have a faulty batch or something. I may be recalling incorrectly (it was 3 years ago!) but I think I always had some sort of test line (even if faint) when using them last time.

@WingingIt09 I think nearly a week now! I feel like Ive had a couple of real squinters but my app doesn't pick it up at all so atm they all just say 0!

I might order some more and see

WingingIt09 · 17/01/2022 19:15

@Dreamingof3 I had to adjust the test/control ratio on my app to get them to read it? Which app are you using? X

OP posts:
Dreamingof3 · 17/01/2022 19:18

@WingingIt09 femometer? What tests are you using?

Dreamingof3 · 17/01/2022 19:21

I use ovia too but more for just tracking periods. They both say I should be ovulating later this week, but I know that could be off...its also based on my last bleed being logged as a period so if it wasn't really then i have no clue 🤣 I don't know whether i should just wait for a period now? But I also wanted to know when I was ovulating so I could avoid my other half 1🤣

WingingIt09 · 17/01/2022 19:22

I'm using Premom with the one step ovulation tests.

Dreamingof3 · 17/01/2022 19:24

Mine are one step too. I've just primed some easy@home which people seem to rate so I'll see what happens with them!

mooonbaby · 17/01/2022 19:35

Can I join please? My husband and I want to start trying in April, once we’ve moved house, although it may be happening a bit earlier because we’ve had sex in my fertile window this month (by accident 😂). I’m currently 1dpo but if I’m not pregnant this month we’re going to be more careful and wait until April. I also want to eat well and lose a few lbs before trying. This will be our second 🥰

Vasectomyreversalhopeful · 17/01/2022 19:48

Welcome moon :)

I have just downloaded Ovia. I used it last time, it is a bit more sophisticated than it was 7 years ago Grin

WingingIt09 · 17/01/2022 19:50

@Dreamingof3 yes I've been reading about those ones too, some good reviews of them! Let me know how they work out in comparison.

@mooonbaby welcome! How old is your eldest? Fingers crossed for the result you want this month!

@Vasectomyreversalhopeful @WingingIt09 thank you!

My eldest is 16 months so hoping he’ll be 2-3 by the time number 2 arrives.

I’m also using one step ovulation tests and the Premom app. It’s my first month tracking and I’m already obsessed 😂

OCM19 · 17/01/2022 20:06

Welcome @mooonbaby, host so many of you are moving house! How old is your first?

WingingIt09 · 17/01/2022 20:06

@mooonbaby that'll be a lovely gap. There's 25 months between my 2 girls. Aiming for 3.5 years between my second and baby #3.

I know what you mean though - I'm obsessed with tracking, even though I'm not even TTC yet 😂🙈

OCM19 · 17/01/2022 20:06

*gosh not host!

OCM19 · 17/01/2022 20:07

Sorry, my thread didn’t update. That’s a lovely age gap.

I’m also excited to start tracking, I just hope my cycles regulate fairly soon!

Dreamingof3 · 17/01/2022 20:09

@mooonbaby it's my first time using them and I'm obsessed already too 🤣

Weve got almost exactly 3 years between girls but if things go to plan there'll be 3.5 years between our youngest and the baby and 6.5 years between eldest and baby 🙈

mooonbaby · 17/01/2022 20:29

How did those of you with two children find the transition from one to two? I think my toddler will make the best big brother and he’ll love having a little playmate, but he’s still such a mummy’s boy and is so dependant on me. I’m worried about how he’ll take the transition

Dreamingof3 · 17/01/2022 20:38

I didn't find it too hard to be honest. But I think the gap helped and my eldest has always been very independent too. My youngest however is a complete mummy's girl and its probably one of the reasons we've waited a bit longer this time (as well as the fact she doesn't sleep 🤣)

WingingIt09 · 17/01/2022 20:54

@mooonbaby I'll admit the first year was tough with a 2 year gap. Although covid hit when my youngest was 4 months so had to do the majority of the first year without family support and being able to go out. I think it would have been easier not being stuck in the house alone all day with a baby and a 2 year old!

Wow this thread moved really quickly which I love!! I need to check back in a bit sooner next time haha

@OCM19 & @Dreamingof3 It is actually our third, I already have two girls who are 3 years old and 19 months. Fingers crossed you both just fall into nice regular cycles :) I have heard it can happen fairly quickly. @dreamingof3 I assume this is your third that you are going to be trying for too? How about you, OCM19, is this your 2nd or 3rd?

@Vasectomyreversalhopeful It's amazing that they can do that and reverse it. I'm sure you can barely wait! Where are you off to in May?

@WingingIt09 Thank you! Its lovely to have such a warm welcome! I was using a different forum and honestly it's tumbleweed there haha That's interesting to know about the alcohol and your temp. I considered temping for my 2nd but tbh I was pregnant before I got myself organised haha

Whoever it was who asked about baby names- honestly I think my husband and I will divorce if we have to pick a boys name, through 2 children we never even got close to picking one and stopped each time at 16 weeks anyway cuz we did a gender scan and have 2 girls. We've used all our girls names ideas (including with our 2nd daughter we had her name picked and then decided she just didn't suit it so changed her name after we had announced it and all Blush ) I really hope not to repeat that.

I am trying so hard not to symptom spot but it's really hard isn't it? haha Is there a thread on this forum for testing or anything? x

I have a less than 2 year age gap between my 2 girls and my 2nd was born in May of the first lockdown so we did basically her babyhood without any support too. It's crazy how different it was to previous times isnt it? I love the age gap though and it's amazing to see my girls' bond x

Vasectomyreversalhopeful · 18/01/2022 06:20

The Best Life Clinic Sannah as it has a reputation for being the best. Am on a couple of vasectomy reversal groups and lots of people who have been successful there :)

No guarantees of course but as we are both still in our early thirties, the vasectomy is only 5 years old and we have proven fertility together I am hopeful.
