Preparing to TTC in 2022

DH has agreed to starting to TTC baby #3 in April/May. We already have a 2 daughters (age 4 and 2). I'm so excited to start trying! I think it's going to be a long wait until we can start actively trying!

Starting to think about things to do to help prepare my body. I'm currently on the progesterone only pill so thinking of when to stop it. I have 5 days left in this packet and then one packet left after that in my current prescription. Don't know whether to stop when I finishes this packet or at the end of Jan after my next packet. Any experiences of how long it takes cycle to regulate after the pill?

I need to try and eat healthier as I've been so bad recently with Christmas but I'm a healthy weight so not too worried there. Also ordered some TTC vitamins which I remember from previous pregnancies is good to take 3 months before TTC.

Anything else I could do? Is there anyone else who will be starting to try later in the year and so excited that you're already on here 🙈?

Online - I meant second hand Blush

WingingIt09 · 16/01/2022 21:45

@Jennifer89 it's a seraphine one I have my eye on. Not sure I can justify the cost when I know it's my last baby. Will have to look for a good second hand deal!

@OCM19 I have a list of names (although 90% girl names or unisex, apparently I can't see myself having a boy??). I refuse to show my DH until we actually need to pick one cos I know he'll veto at least half of them!

OCM19 · 16/01/2022 22:02

@WingingIt09 we didn’t find out what we were having with our DS, but I’ve also gone off the girl name we had chosen if DS was a girl!

@Amber17 same, I’m just making a little list and will have that conversation with him if we’re lucky enough to fall pregnant! I know DH wouldn’t want to find out the gender again, but I’m not sure. We didn’t with DS and I loved the surprise, but as this will be my last I think I’d like to! Gotta get pregnant first 😂

WingingIt09 · 16/01/2022 22:06

@OCM19 it's funny how you go off names. We found out for both our girls but with DD1 we had narrowed down to a choice of 2, when we had DD2 the second choice name for DD1 wasn't even on the cards anymore 😂 I'm quite surprised I'm still liking our second option for DD2 for a girl this time round. Although plenty of time for that to change!

We're not sure if we will find out next time. DH would like to find out again but I've never had a surprise and since this will be our last baby I'm tempted to have a surprise. Only downside is all our baby clothes are girly, very little unisex stuff since we knew what we were having. Would have to buy some unisex newborn stuff just in case it was a boy 😂😂

Will check out Seraphine. As we live rurally and walk a lot I will need one that is properly waterproof.

Dreamingof3 · 17/01/2022 08:21

I absolutely love looking at baby names. I have a few girls ones I like but like @wingingit09 I'm convinced we'll have a third girl so not giving as much thought to boys names 😅 we've already decided middle names (family) so finding a name that fits with that and then also our 2 girls names is a pain...throw in a long surname too 😒

I think we'll find out with this one. I'd like to know if I need to up my game on boys names or if I can stop thinking about it 🤣

itsnearlymytime · 17/01/2022 08:52

@Dreamingof3 honestly names are so exciting! We haven't even started trying yet and already have names in mind 🙈 maybe I'm just a little obsessed already

hevann · 17/01/2022 09:09

We already have a boys name all picked out, we have a girls first name but not sure on middle name yet. We always talk about it. Think we're a bit obsessed too! Lol!

Finally took my last pill last night so the waiting game begins for me. After not having a period for about 6 years due to changing to cerelle I'm a bit apprehensive!

OCM19 · 17/01/2022 09:17

@hevann ohhh how exciting! Good luck with your cycles regulating.

Im definitely going to look into this coat, sounds awesome!

Jennifer89 · 17/01/2022 12:29

@OCM19 I quite like idea of gender being a suprise too.. few surprises in life but also have a feeling I will cave in and want to know Grin

HappyMrsR · 17/01/2022 12:33

Hi all can I join?
I've just had my 5th baby 9 weeks ago and know we want another one quite soon so we are thinking about starting to ttc in maybe may/June time. Does anyone else have a small age gap between kids?

Dreamingof3 · 17/01/2022 12:58

@happymrsr congratulations on your newest addition! It gives me hope that I'm not mad trying for number 3 if you've had 5 and still want another 🤣

OCM19 · 17/01/2022 13:05

@HappyMrsR aww congratulations. How are you doing? Mines nearly 3 and I’m only just ready to think about TTC so take my hat off to you!

@Jennifer89 that’s exactly what we both said, not a lot of surprises left in life!

Vasectomyreversalhopeful · 17/01/2022 13:11

Congrats Happy! My DS is about to turn 6 and I am only just ready for another Grin He is an awful sleeper however.

I have a girls name I am very keen on. No idea for boys.

HappyMrsR · 17/01/2022 13:26

I think I must be crazy but dds 3& 4 are just under 2 years apart and their relationship is lovely they come as a pair so are never lonely but then there's 8 years between dds 4& 5 so we have said we would love another one close in age to dd5 then they might have a close relationship too.

HappyMrsR · 17/01/2022 13:31

I found picking names so hard we didn't fid out with any of ours what we were having so needed to have a boys and girls name picked and just to make it harder all our girls names end in an A so trying to find names to fit in was hard. We have 1 boy & 4 girls

Dreamingof3 · 17/01/2022 13:59

@HappyMrsR I guess it gets harder with each one too!

We have a 3 syllable surname so don't want first names that are long...I'd rather not repeat initials or the ending of the name (both different atm so don't want 2 the same and one not 🤣) I also want to avoid anything top 50 and ideally outside the top 100 would be better. Then they need to go with the middle names we've chosen....basically not given myself a chance 🤣🤣

Although may have just stumbled upon a boys name that works! (That i probably won't need!)

HappyMrsR · 17/01/2022 14:07

It wasn't intentional with my first 2 then my 3rd I just loved the name then realised they all end in A so we had to pick a name for my 4th daughter that would fit in. If we do have another I know it will be a girl so I should really start thinking of names now 😂 cause it took that long to think of my last babies name

Dreamingof3 · 17/01/2022 14:35

I honestly find it so hard. We were 99% decided on a name for our second and when she was born I didn't feel like it was her name, much to my other half's annoyance 🤣 ended up calling her a name that we'd not even talked about before

DanisEndo · 17/01/2022 15:15

RIGHT!
Today I go for my first run in fk'in ages too long, I'm signing up for the gym when I get paid on Wednesday, so I can start making some progress on the 44lbs I want to lose. Going to get some folic acid and vitD tonight along with lots of healthy greens.
We've also made some good progress toward buying a house. Really hoping it all times up so I'm at or near my goal weight as we're moving in so I can just book my coil removal ASAP!

WingingIt09 · 17/01/2022 16:05

Welcome @HappyMrsR that's so exciting you're going for baby 6! As @Dreamingof3 makes me feel less crazy for going for baby #3 as so many of my friends are saying we're crazy and that everything is easier with a family of 4!

@DanisEndo that sounds like good progress! I should also be trying to lose weight, instead I got a muffin and a large caramel macchiato when out shopping with my DDs this morning 🙈🙈

@Dreamingof3 how is it going with the ovulation tests? I started doing them yesterday to trying and work out what's going on with my cycle. Currently getting low readings when I put them in the premom app.

Dreamingof3 · 17/01/2022 16:40

@danisendo thats fab! I hope it all works well timing wise! I need to get my butt into gear with this weight. I walk 12/13k steps a day and was calorie counting but I've just started a shake plan to try and give myself a boost as I ways struggle when I'm not seeing results....3 stone to go 😒

@WingingIt09 I am still getting complete negatives 🤷‍♀️ I don't know how quickly it can change though so I don't know whether to leave it a few days or keep doing daily?! It isn't a huge issue as I don't want to get pregnant just yet but it'd be nice to start seeing what my cycles are doing 🤷‍♀️

DanisEndo · 17/01/2022 17:02

@WingingIt09I'd much rather the muffin and macchiato to be completely honest ahah Brew Cake but I'm at that stage where it's still months and months away before we actually start TTC and I want to feel productive.

thanks @Dreamingof3 fingers crossed! We have pretty much the same to lose then :) Also struggle when i dont see results but think if i can find a couple of good classes that i actually enjoy i might be more persistent even if results take a while.... food wise I just want to try and cook as much as fresh as possible, lots of variety, and keep carbs to the lower end but not cut out (life is hard enough without bread and pasta).

WingingIt09 · 17/01/2022 17:23

@DanisEndo I prefer the muffin and macchiato but I definitely need to start being healthier! It's my birthday next week so my goal is to start healthy eating once all the treats etc from my birthday are eaten/drunk! I don't have loads to shift but ideally would like to lose 1/2 - 3/4 a stone before getting pregnant.

@Dreamingof3 are you not getting any line at all? Mine was faint yesterday but definitely darker today, although still negative. I think they can change fairly quickly so I'm going to keep testing daily.
