@IsabelHerna I have a friend who recently conceived using donor sperm as a solo parent. She is now 15 weeks x

IsabelHerna · 01/11/2021 14:45

@TheDaydreamBelievers Aww really?? Thank you! That's so nice to know that it can happen. 🤗 How are you getting on?

Kay00 · 01/11/2021 16:21

@TheDaydreamBelievers Urghhh....! 7DPO. What a nasty witch!

I had my blood test for progesterone today at 6DPO. I assume it quite high this month because I have been (an angry) emotional mess lol.

Moocher90 · 01/11/2021 19:12

So so far I haven’t ovulated :/ well not had any temp rise to indicate I have ovulated. I’m CD18 today. My bet is this is going to be an anovulatory cycle :(

Hello. Smile

Came off the mini pill in July, 9 days late since my period returned end of Sept so assuming I'm not regular yet.
This is torture, bfns all around so guess I just have to give it a month and test again.
Why can't there be some other way of finding out you're pregnant like peeing blue or something. Grin

WonderingWoman30 · 02/11/2021 17:04

Hi All :)

OH and I are thinking of TTC in the New Year so to prepare I am going to come off the pill this month..!

Does anyone use Natural Cycles? I know you can use for conception or natural contraception so would suit me for the next couple of months, but are the ovulation sticks (sorry, new here Blush) better / more reliable?

LittleMysSister · 02/11/2021 17:51

Hello, jumping on :)

I came off the mini pill in mid-May and my periods came back straight away at the end of that month. However, June-Aug periods only lasted 4 days, which is short for me, and Sept was the first time it has been back to 6/7 days. So I am guessing things are still settling for me? I hope so anyway as I have been losing heart each month.

It's hard when everything you read about conceiving after coming off the pill is focused on your periods returning regularly. I don't think that has been the only factor for me as I was bleeding each month for the last few months I was on it too, and it was definitely still in my system then obviously.

The past 2 months I have been doing OPKs so should be timing everything right, but still no BFP.

I am currently on CD35 and 4 days late according to Flo but I tested with cheapies Saturday and yesterday (day AF due and 3 days late) and both were negative. I think it is the result of taking Pregnacare Conception pills as I've seen they can lengthen your cycle. Really the last thing I need!!

Best of luck to everyone this month x

LittleMysSister · 02/11/2021 17:53

@WonderingWoman30 Is Natural Cycles the one where you take your temperature each day? I think that is more reliable than ovulation predictor kits (OPKs) as they detect the hormones that are meant to trigger ovulation but their presence doesn't actually mean it's happened. Whereas the temperature rise and dip is more reliable I think.

I don't do my temperature so don't know exactly how it works!!

Kay00 · 02/11/2021 20:21

Welcome @notmyselfwithoutcoffee @littlemyssister @wonderingwoman30!

To track cycles I recommend the following:

  • download Fertility Friend app
  • start taking your Basel Body Temperature (using bbt thermometer) taking your temp at the same time every morning (use an alarm)
  • record your temps in the FF app and look for a sustained (3 day+) temp increase of 0.3 degrees or above, which will indicate ovulation has occurred
  • use OPKs to track your LH levels as this will help you tell when you are about to ovulate (use second morning urine, and when they start getting stringer test several times a day until you get your positive) and when to DTD 😉😉😉
  • have fun with it 😇

It's not for everyone but it will tell you a huge amount about your cycles.

Juno231 · 03/11/2021 08:40

@WonderingWoman30 the trouble with natural cycles is that it will tell you you've ovulated AFTER it's happened and OPKs give you a heads up before so you have time to DTD accordingly. Also, Natural cycle's algorithm is not great for conception (its forte is prevention) so if you already have the thermometer I would use it but with the be Fertility Friend app which is pretty much the best out there. You're best off combining the use of opks and temperature tracking tbh!

@TheDaydreamBelievers did AF really show at 7dpo??? What a mind f*

@Moocher90 any news on ovulation?

Team no test reporting in here. 7DPO today, temps are nice and high (36.81 today). I'm sort of already down about the inevitable arrival of AF next Tuesday 😅

Moocher90 · 03/11/2021 08:44

@Juno231 nope still no ovulation. Think this cycle will be a dud as its already CD20. We have continued to BD just in case but I have a feeling that unless my temp rise over next coming days there won’t be any ovulation. Not sure how long this cycle will be though

OP posts:
Juno231 · 03/11/2021 09:07

@Moocher90 CD20 still seems early for ladies with irregular cycles no? Heck my friend ovulates CD22 and she has a perfectly regular 34 day cycle, nevermind eg thedaydreambelievers who has managed to ovulate at the end of 100+days cycles. Have faith is what I'm saying and keep up the regular BD if you can! Fingers crossed for you.

Moocher90 · 03/11/2021 09:12

@Juno231 my last 3 cycles have been 22/23 days and I was ovulating around CD11/12 hence why I assume it’s anovulatory, not dismissing it but despite lots of EWCM my OPKs are low.

@LittleMysSister a lesson learnt that periods aren't late - you just ovulated later :)

ChinChilly · 03/11/2021 11:34

@Moocher90 eurgh that sounds frustrating, i think its pretty normal to have a random dud cycle.

@LittleMysSister I wish all the best in your pregnancy but I found your post slightly insensitive, there are a few women on this thread who have been TTC for a while and you pretty much just post once and then pop on a post with your BFP. As i said congratulations and I wish you a happy 9 months but please have some consideration.

11dpo temps are still up but RHR is dropping so I suspect AF will be here over the weekend. This was my last full cycle before my RMC appointment and i successfully managed to not fall pregnant beforehand (not sure by choice 😅)

LittleMysSister · 03/11/2021 12:07

@ChinChilly Sorry ChinChilly, I never meant to upset anyone. I have also been trying for a while, albeit only just joined this thread. I genuinely didn't know when I posted my first post. I will ask for it to be removed, sorry again.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 03/11/2021 12:08

Does anyone have any insight or advice into medicated timed intercpurse vs IUI vs IVF? GCRM have offered any one of these. We just don't know where to go from here. Ivf seems such a nuclear option but the others have pretty low results rates and all are bloody pricey.

Juno231 · 03/11/2021 13:03

@TheDaydreamBelievers it sounds like you can get pregnant but you just don't ovulate well - in your shoes I think I'd try the first option (presumably clomid/letrozole?) Before going nuclear with IVF. IUI I never understood the point of when it seems to only have a 10% success rate per cycle?

@Gracie2021 I forgot to say but I'm a month into my new job! Excellent memory! All going very well, I'm still on cloud 9 of pure relief having left my old rotten company. Interesting about the ANA - what made them test that? I've always wondered if there's an element of auto immune problems with my fertility as I have psoriasis, had years of IBS and have mild endometriosis which tends to be connected to auto immune diseases apparently.

Kay00 · 03/11/2021 13:58

@LittleMysSister Congratulations!!

Kay00 · 03/11/2021 14:03

@Juno231 that's an interesting observation. I wonder the same for me as I have HLA-B27 gene and lots of inflammatory issues with my joints and and digestive system. Maybe we should look into eating anti-inflammatory foods?

Juno231 · 03/11/2021 14:05

@Kay00 aren't you low on those already with your low carb diet? I can't imagine successfully going low carb/gluten free/no dairy but that's what worked for @mintgreenlife isn't it??

Kay00 · 03/11/2021 14:28

I'm meant to be low carb but struggling if I'm honest. I had my sis in law move in with me, with her dog who then gave birth to 7 puppies. Then my step mother died and to be honest I'm struggling to get on top of things. But... my sis in law and her 7 puppies are leaving this weekend, and I think my life and routine will start to get back to normal, and I will hopefully be able to control my diet better.

I think I can eat low carb, low sugar and even low gluten... but I might struggle with low dairy Grin But maybe... just maybe its worth trying for a couple of months as it did seem to do the trick for Mint! Grin

TheDaydreamBelievers · 03/11/2021 15:02

@Kay00 I feel low carb is innately low gluten but how do you do it low dairy?! Greek yoghurt is my go to at the moment esp as I'm a vegetarian

ChinChilly · 03/11/2021 15:15

I'd love to do low card/gluten/dairy but I'm kinda left thinking what would I even eat 🤔
