Hahahah @Juno231 we are salty but not ancient yet! Or we do good Photoshop for Instagram... (I don't, honest!). Excited to see what everyone looks like!

MissC07 · 26/01/2022 19:23

@Juno231 🤣🤣 It's so true!! TTC really makes us sound like old ladies round a knitting circle!

@TheDaydreamBelievers I'll DM you too! It's lovely to see who has been with us and still going through this journey 😊

SkeletonSkins · 26/01/2022 19:51

@Kay00 @Juno231 yeah I think you’re right, she’d have been able to tell and mentioned it.

Feeling a bit down today about it all if I’m honest. No signs of ovulation at all. I’ve been on metformin for just over two weeks now but only one week on 1000. I’m not sure how long it takes to have an impact but I’ve sent myself crazy reading stories about people getting a period within a week or ovulating quickly and have now convinced myself it’s not going to work. I know it’s early days and we can increase the metformin dose but you just feel so powerless. I just want to ovulate :( My body has done it before, I just don’t get why it’s stopped.

I feel like everything recommended for pcos as ‘the miracle cure’ I do, and the fact it doesn’t seem to have a huge impact for me makes me feel like there’s something really wrong, especially because I’m a healthy BMI. The only things I’ve not done are Keto, because I just don’t have it in me, and giving up gluten/dairy. That might have to be my next step but we get Gousto boxes for tea and I really enjoy that so I’d be sad to stop.

SkeletonSkins · 26/01/2022 19:55

@WhirlingD sorry to hear about the BFN. BBT can be so great can’t it but equally just adds another layer of info to stress about. Feb doesn’t feel too far away, and hopefully you can get started quickly.

@Kay00 Fingers crossed ovulation comes as planned and you can have a rest 😂 I know that feeling!

@Gracie2021 hope you’re feeling a bit better, that sounds really rough!

SkeletonSkins · 26/01/2022 20:00

Sorry, I’ve just read back my previous post as it’s so bloody miserable! I need to stop moping and get on with it. See what happens with the metformin and then into the next step if it doesn’t work. Sorry for moaning gang, it just gets to me a bit sometimes.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 26/01/2022 20:53

It's okay to express misery if that's how you feel @SkeletonSkins! We all have felt the way you feel like "what's the bloody point". We know how you feel and are with you in how you feel. You definitely don't have to be all positive on here - we are anti toxic positivity culture around conception! As @Juno231 said, we all (entirely understandably) are sour and salty sometimes. 💗

WhirlingD · 26/01/2022 22:32

@TheDaydreamBelievers I have no idea how to DM but I'd love to follow you. I'm not good on anything social media (I honestly think I'm 10 years too old) but I'm getting better.

@SkeletonSkins god I get it. In many ways I've had the best year of my life. I'm loving work and I married a man I love. But I have spent a whole year pissing on sticks, taking my temperature and staring at charts. To absolutely. No. Avail. And yet I'm still obsessed. I'm sad at having to give up on my bad eggs.

Don't give up gousto. It's a good meal box. If we give up everything we love and still don't get pregnant, then we are even more miserable. I'm going to sound really cynical here, but I honestly don't think going keto or totally giving up booze, will make one jot of difference. I've spent a small fortune on dhea and zita west and acupuncture. I did get a cycle back I suppose but nothing more.

What I'm saying is "rant all you want". It's a safe space here. X

Kay00 · 27/01/2022 11:42

I'd love to follow you both @juno231 @thedaydreambelievers. I'm happy for people to follow me back too... although my Insta feed is 99% pics of my dogs 😆

@skeletonskins I so sorry your cycle is still a mystery and ovulation has suspiciously gone awol. Hopefully it's just the Metformin taking a little but of time to make a big impact on your internal rhythm. I have to admit though... my cycles started to regulate a couple of months before I started Metformin. They started to regulate when I started the Conceive Plus Ovulation Support. It costs about £30 per month, so it's a bit of a commitment, but it seemed to do the trick for me (also a lean PCOSer)

I had a temp rise this morning, as I had hoped, but it was pretty shitty. Im not sure if my body failed to ovulate. I suppose the next few temps will tell...

SkeletonSkins · 27/01/2022 18:24

Ah thanks @Kay00 Sadly I’ve tried the conceive plus ovulation support and it didn’t work for me, I’m on Inofolic Acid now which has good review so hopefully I’ll start to see some progress.

Could your temp rise be a gradual one? Maybe you ovulated a bit later in the day/early hours of the morning so only just kicking in temp wise?

Thanks for the support and reassurance @TheDaydreamBelievers and @WhirlingD, I appreciate having somewhere to let off some steam. Fingers crossed ovulation turns up soon!

Kay00 · 27/01/2022 19:38

@skeletonskins ah, OK. Hopefully Inofolic works for you xx
Yes, hopefully a slow rise. I'll find out tomorrow morning I suppose

Kay00 · 28/01/2022 11:36

My temp rose again this morning, so I'm hoping I'm 2DPO Smile

How is everyone else getting on?

TheDaydreamBelievers · 28/01/2022 13:30

That's great @Kay00! I have another charmingly useless chart Grin

SkeletonSkins · 28/01/2022 22:13

Ahhhh @Kay00 that’s fab that your rise continued!

@TheDaydreamBelievers hahah more to it than my graphs!

My temp dropped so defo no ovulation. Hoping that my body is gearing up to make an attempt as a few little signs but nothing big. Not sure how long it would take for a follicle to grow to ovulation levels if they weren’t ‘dominant’ at my scan last Monday, it’ll be two weeks ago this Monday.

Went to visit my friends 7 day old baby who’s absolutely gorgeous and I’m very happy for them. Couple of comments abojt how lucky I am to have full nights sleep etc did sting I have to say especially as she knows the problems I’m having. But anyway, it was nice to get a cuddle.

Went for a lovely swim this evening which was super calming and relaxing so that was good. Ready for a nice chilled weekend!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

SkeletonSkins · 29/01/2022 10:43

Morning ladies, well I have no idea what’s going on with my body. I’ve had quite a temp spike today. I’ve had a look back at my OPKs and it’s possible I missed my peak a couple of days ago but equally it’s totally possible that this spike means nothing and will fall back again tomorrow. What’s a bit weird is I’ve not had a huge amount of ovulation symptoms. I did have some EWCM but not loads at all, slightly increased sex drive for a couple of days maybe? I think what’s throwing me is pre-metformin I’d have absolutely raging ovulation symptoms, my skin would be horrendous, I’d get cramps, loads of EWCM but then not ovulate, so I’m thinking this can’t possibly be ovulation can it, to turn up so quietly and unannounced?? But then perhaps if my hormones are a bit more under control, the symptoms are slightly less as my body isn’t having to try so hard?

I’m 99.9% it’s a random temp spike and it’ll drop again tomorrow. And I know no one can tell me anything except wait until tomorrow, but I can’t help looking at the bloody graph and trying to work out out.

I’d love to know what an opk done in the evening of the 26th would have said. I know OPKs are a bit useless for PCOS and you can easily get false positives but I was mostly doing it to see if my overall lh was tracking generally lower as that’s been a problem for me.

MissC07 · 29/01/2022 13:53

@SkeletonSkins did you have any luck getting a doctors appointment to give you some Provera to kick start AF?

SkeletonSkins · 29/01/2022 14:50

I had a chat with gynae man and he said wait and see what happens on my first four-six weeks of metformin and if nothing happens they’ll give me it, so will give it another couple of weeks and then ask for it I think.

Kay00 · 29/01/2022 22:47

@skeletonskins looks promising 🤞 sometimes my ovulation is pretty uneventful... in fact this month has been too. So much do I'm not 100% sure I've ovulated. I got a bit of EWCM a couple of days before a slight temp increase, but not ovulation pain or skin break out... and I'm on Clomid!

Kay00 · 01/02/2022 09:51

Hi ladies. 6DPO here (I'm sure I have ovulated now) so not much to report.

I have a bit of a dilemma though. My mum is a single lady, and it has been getting her down recently, so my sister (and I) has been keen to book the 'holiday of a lifetime' that she has always wanted in April 2023. My mum initially wanted to go on a cruise, but is now keen on an all inclusive holiday in Mexico. It would be me, my mum, my sis and my niece (all the girls).

The issue is of course.... if I'm pregnant in April 2023 then I'm not going to want to go to Mexico. And if (by some miracle) I've had a baby by April 2023, then its likely to be very young and I will be unable/unwilling to travel.

They are keen to book the holiday in the next few weeks - eek.

I have an appointment with my consultant on 15th Feb, so I'm thinking maybe I need to tell my mum and sis of my plans for a family (and possible path to IVF) before they book the holiday.

Or am I being silly... its quite likely I won't be pregnant/with child in 14 months time, and a holiday to Mexico would be amazing??

Gracie2021 · 01/02/2022 12:22

Sorry have been quiet and meaning to do a big catch up on this thread but when you get so far behind it's hard to get through it all.

@Kay00 that's such a tricky one, you've kind of been maneuvered into having to say it to them by default. Are there any other reasons you could use for not committing to the holiday just yet? Work etc? Also is it possible to book it with free cancellation and use Covid as the excuse and keep your options open that way? Fingers crossed for you for this month and good to have the consultant app lined up ready too.

Sorry you're stuck waiting @SkeletonSkins fingers crossed something happens soon.

Kay00 · 01/02/2022 13:26

@Gracie2021 Hmm, its certainly tricky. We have been talking about this holiday for the past two years. When we first started talking about it I had just started trying and fully imagined myself to have a toddler by then. Coming up with an excuse now would seem quite weak.

I just had a chat with my OH, and he thinks it would be good to tell my mum... but he isn't comfortable with my sister knowing. She has a volatile personality and swings from the nicest person you could ever meet, to the girl from the exorcist (no joke), and would likely use my infertility/treatments as a way to upset me/manipulate me when things don't go her way. So I get where he is coming from, but not telling her might be even more dangerous Sad.

I think I'll wait to see what the consultant says on the 15th; whether she suggests IVF/IUI/Injectables etc.

Juno231 · 01/02/2022 13:36

@Kay00 the other thing to consider is that if you end up having IVF then you have to attest and sign for not having been to a Zika country in the last 6 months and I believe Mexico is on that list? Likewise if you're pregnant by then you might not want to run the risk of contracting it?

@SkeletonSkins what does your temp look like now?

Juno231 · 01/02/2022 13:39

@Kay00 oh and maybe you can keep it more vague and just day you're wanting to try for a baby soon and you need to be avoiding Zika countries in the run up?

Kay00 · 01/02/2022 13:42

@Juno231 Yes, the Zika virus is exactly why I wouldn't want to travel to Mexico whilst pregnant. Its interesting to know you can't have been for 6 months before IVF too... so it totally rules out Mexico (and a lot of other tropical countries) even if I'm not pregnant by April 2023!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 01/02/2022 13:44

@Kay00 is there anywhere else she would love to go that doesn't have same issues eg Iceland? Canada? New York?

I guess the problem is - even if you are honest with your mum so ask not to do the holiday, how does she explain to your sister? It sucks that stupid fertility issues take away our rights to privacy on top of everything else. I agree it's a problem re- IVF timing, pregnancy timing and Zika risk. Do you think your sister would tell others or just use to be a dick? If it's option B, you and DH could plan responses and tell those to your mum too eg "if she says X, I will just straight get up and leave". I'm so sorry you're dealing with this on top of everything.

I think the option id go for is to tell your mum and ask her to change her mind about where she wants to go? Then can make sure you book in a way that can be cancelled?
