@paintfairy that is a lot of ivf when you think about it isn't it. I think so many people must go through it without saying much to anyone, like my friend had literally only told me, not even her family until she had a 10 week scan all clear... she has just had her 12 week scan and it has come back high risk for downs so she is waiting for the NIPT results now. I can't imagine how hard that would be to have been trying for 5 years, 3 rounds of ivf, to get pregnant and get to 12 weeks and then to have to deal with the potential of downs and all the implications of that - it's just all so much!

So ladies my house project is an ongoing saga, still got no heating 🥶🥶🥶 But have got a mostly working kitchen now at least. And they have fixed the shit wall that was crumbling. Building control are happy at least. But I've got no door to the toilet so every time I need to use the loo during the day I have to announce it and ask all the various men to leave the house, it's so awkward. And has been like this for 2 weeks urgh. Today we have no power for most the day as they are moving the mains electricity. Current argument about who is buying the tile adhesive - us or them. Every day is a drama!

I'm 7dpo on my super duper expensive treatment plan, official test date is on Sunday. The doctor was a bit blunt when I asked about testing on 10dpo, if it's negative I should stop the treatment, I said but what if it's positive on 11/12/13 dpo and he said "that is late implantation and you are already miscarrying" 😱 what a dick?! There are loads of women on mumsnet who have had positives later than 10dpo - most of them probably! And surely it is so easy to misjudge ovulation by a day or so?! Anyway, I'll obviously be testing every day from 8dpo up until AF as usual!

Feels good to be back in the TTC bus seat again finally.

@Amy00 what's the treatment plan? Apologies if you already spoke about it and I missed it.

I had my 6.30am shag this morning. I feel an enormous sense of achievement because I'm useless in the mornings and with my thyroid being underactive again I'm exhausted all the time. Husband is away this weekend so we won't be able to stick to the schedule but hopefully if we get another round or two in before tomorrow evening we'll be OK. Ovulation should have been this morning.

Also something insanely juicy is happening at work but I can't tell anyone because of the nature of my job and it's killing me 🤣🤣 I'm dying to get home to tell OH at least 😅

Interesting chat about infertility on this morning if anyone can get it on catch up. There's also going to be a phone in. It was a stark reminder of the chances of success though.

@Amy00 I've actually told no one IRL. I'm not sure if that's a good decision or not. But I'm a private person and I hate people asking me about things.
I'm pleased your houseworks is progressing! No toilet door doesn't sound much fun mind. I hate having no lock on ours even, when workmen are here.
The dr is a dick. Some women never even get positives on pregnancy tests, but a baby still appears? 🤬

@Amy00 what, everything after 10dpo is "already MC"? No way that's true. I know the earlier the implantation the higher the chances of a healthy pregnancy, but a late implantation doesn't automatically mean it's not going to work out. Weird dude.

@Sunbird24 well done on 6am shag! That is commitment to the cause! 😂 also you can't just drop that nugget of juicy gossip without actually telling us what is happening!!

@paintfairy it's up to each individual isn't it how much you want to share with people, and actually you've told all us lot so you at least have us as a support network, most people probably don't even have a bunch of internet strangers!

oo yeah sorry I should pop a recap in as it's been a while, so I've been on the bus since May 2020, have had 3 early miscarriages with my current OH and I had 2 when I was younger so a grand total of 5 that I don't fancy adding to... we had all NHS tests come back clear apart from the most recent mc was a chromosomal abnormality. We then went for private testing at Dr Shehata's clinic in Epsom which is supposed to be one of the best for treating recurrent miscarriage. They did more tests and found I have high TNF alpha (which can cause mc and chemicals in particular) and high NK cells with high activation levels which can cause mc. Jury is officially still out so they don't test/treat this on the NHS yet but there does seem to be a lot of evidence behind it, just not a full scale proper clinical trial yet. His clinic has an 80% success rate apparently so I've got to believe in it.

So I've been put on a treatment plan where I had to take 2 injections of adalimumab, then before ovulation im supposed to go for an intralipid drip each month in Epsom which is a 2 hour trek each way, then after ovulation I take a steroid prednisolone and omeprezole, and also 800mg progesterone pessaries each day until 10 dpo. I was on aspirin but it made me bleed out my bum so stopped that 🙊

We've paid about £3,500 so far.

@Franklydear love thst your DH is learning all about opks! My OH sent me a link yesterday basically a site explaining the process of ivf for dummies but really informative, said he'd been reading it and understands a bit more now!

Thankyou all so much for the comments on dick head doctor yesterday, I had my cry and feel a lot better this morning! Got a text from my GP saying my referral had been sent off and got given a code to book my gynaecology appointment, I was impressed, I thought I'd be waiting weeks to get a letter to even book my appointment! So the department they're sending me to is our local one and apparently they're dealing with their own appointments so I had to ring the referral line and the woman was lovely, told me she'd sent them an email right away to send me a text or letter with an appointment, she asked me what days/times are best for me and finished with "I hope they contact you soon, best of luck love" how nice!!

My phone wouldn't get data so my plan to catch up on you lot on the train went down the pan!

I have a hole in my tooth, it doesn't hurt but needs a filling. It feels like it's got a bit bigger, trying to decide whether to try and get an appt to sort it (I did have one in sept but the dentist left) now ish or wait until denplan kicks in in Nov. No NHS dentists with spaces where I live so would have to be private. Hmmm... this is todays dilemma!

Got a letter from the clinic this morning, the genetic testing on my last failed pregnancy showed a chromosomal issue (trisomy 6), which they’ve said is probably due to advanced maternal age, so I feel great right now
For some reason he seems to think I’ve got nothing left in the freezer, but I’m definitely paying by direct debit for three little frosties to be kept safe so I need to give them a call.

I've been in contact with the architect about major window/outside changes to the house plans today & we think we've got it right now. Spendy changes so we'll have to sacrifice doing more inside for a while but we want to get the building right initially & can sort the (shudder) seagull ensuite out later on for instance. I'm also v worried about being with in laws for longer with a newborn but I'm channelling the finger in ears "LA LA LA LA LAAAAAA" approach which is fair right???

@Sunbird24 😂😂 sorry I meant to tag @Somatronic in the previous post! Mine was trisomy 22. It can happen to anyone regardless of age but chances creep up as we age sadly. I felt sad about knowing that was the reason as maybe my body wouldn't have killed that one off if it was normal as we saw a heartbeat that time! Bit of a worry about your frosties...😱 give them a call ASAP!!!

@larrythelizard id probably wait for the denplan to kick in if it will happen soon? Especially if it's in a place where you'll want a white filling, and if it's not giving you any pain, those can be pricey! Although obvs best to get it sorted sooner rather than later 🤔

@Minster2012 they did put a door onto the loo last week for a day, it promptly got damaged by all the building work going on, so they took it off again. They are tiling the new shower room/downstairs loo now so hopefully should be able to switch over to a brand new loo maybe next week! Don't worry I will PIAP before they arrive in the morning 😂 mind you I was having to PIAP for the ovulation sticks last week which was tricky having to hide it all, running around trying to keep the wet stick hidden as I went upstairs 🙄😬 well done on making plans with the architect! What are you planning on doing to the outside then?

@Amy00 yes I have told you lot. The acupuncture lady also knows and I talk to her. So that's quite useful, she used to be an ivf nurse so understands.
The treatment plan sounds very specific! I hope it works for you.
@Vil10 the fertility people are a lot more polite than the gps. Almost too nice. But they won't be dismissive.
@larrythelizard 🤣🤣🤣 your reply made me laugh. I would agree about me. However, I must have had a lapse in judgement or something. 😆 To be fair, my defense mechanism is also to pretend I'm not bothered and just coast along.
Dentists are a pain. If you leave it out could suddenly get bad fast, but equally you might manage. So? 🤷‍♀️ My DH never bothered to register with a dentist when we moved and now he'll be stuck if ever he has a problem. No nhs ones here now.

@Minster2012 ttc normally is probably not worthy of a discussion. But going through ivf its very difficult with appointments etc and trying to hide it i guess? It was saying how many people don't tell work even. I haven't but wfh makes it easier.

Got a telephone appointment on Monday for a chat about everything. I guess maybe I’m going to have to go for the PGT, but I’m terrified they’ll all be bad and then I’m done. Think I’d rather have 3 more goes and miscarry again, stupid as that sounds.

@Sunbird24 to be honest not having sex since 2018 is sounding pretty pretty right now. Better than setting an alarm at 6.30am for an extremely unenthusiastic session where my husband complains about the stupid sex schedule throughout the entire act while I lie there half asleep and think of Ireland 😂 Shocking stuff we end up doing to TTC. Wishing you the best in the next step, whatever you choose. I really hope it works out for you.

My next appointment at the fertility clinic was meant to be February but I got a letter today saying it's now next month. I thought they might give me 3 more rounds of letrozole but I guess they won't. As I've said before letrozole and follicle tracking is the extent of fertility treatment on the public health system in Ireland so I guess I'm on my own now trying to figure out private IVF.

Also for the first time since starting TTC my two closest friends asked me how it was going and I told them everything - depression, being unable to leave the couch for a week after my period arrived last month etc and one of them sent me flowers today and the other one invited me for lunch tomorrow so that's nice. I had resented them for a long time time hopefully that's over now.

@Somatronic your friends sound alright! It's good to have support. And yeah in know what you mean about the sex. It becomes very hard work.

Whoop for the new shower room instead to do the PIAP in 😂we are (hoping to) add a two storey extension, all windows need changing (& we don't really know what style would work best), & knocking through a big area and adding big bi folds/windows to the new big area along with new kitchen & full decoration & bathrooms throughout (though some of the bathrooms will have to wait due to money). It's a full renovation/change of a 1950s house. Your stories also put me off but gotta do it 🤣@larrythelizard eeekkk

@Sunbird24 that's not silly, we decided that. We decided to just go for it with ours & assume they all had a chance. It was roughly the same money for us so we were like what do we gain & the consultant said it could actually harm an embryo that might work

Morning all, sorry I need to go back have a bit of a catch up I've been MIA. DS was feeling under the weather yesterday so was knackered looking after him. His covid result came back negative so wasn't too worried, mine didn't come back till 4pm and was inconclusive and need to restart .......not what I needed when I need the all clear by tomorrow morning for the scan! 😫 Managed to get a test done at 7 last night so just need to cross everything the results come back quickly before tomorrow morn. 🤞 Then last night DS woke up struggling to breathe, he couldn't manage any in breaths properly and his chest was sinking in so had to phone an ambulance, because my covid results weren't back I couldn't even be downstairs when the ambulance crew were in. They wanted to take him to hospital for steroids for his airways and again I couldn't go with him. Nothing worse as a mum not being able to comfort your own child when they need you 😢 Luckily it turned out just to be a bad case of croup that had inflamed his airways and once he had the steroids his breathing was much better but by god what a night, I'm like a burst couch today 😴 Tho it now means if my results come back on time, I need to go to the scan alone tomorrow as DH will need to stay at home with DS as he won't be allowed in with croup. Wish I could channel all that positivity from the other day as its now well and truly back out the window 🙈 but I know I'll have a whole bus full of virtual hand holds tomorrow to keep me going.
