@Aims1991 @CShandy01 @hoola23 @MrsRosaline @plantbasedlondoner @LittleDoveLove thought I'd best start a new thread before it stops letting us post given we're almost at 1k! 🥰 x

Have I forgotten anyone!? X

@GemB03 hey, when you say going private do you mean for testing or treatment? I've done a lot of research into private treatment and if we do have to go down that road which I'm still not sure if I would or not, we would go abroad. Prob clinica tambre in Spain. Other good ones are create fertility. They focus on natural ivf which lowers the risk of complications as it uses less drugs. They have a lot of online open evenings which I went to and we're really helpful. Cost wise it depends what you go for and how many rounds really a consultation is usually about £250-400 where they will discuss the SA and bloods you've had done elsewhere. Maybe you could at least do a private consultation and then make a decision and go from there? You never know, you could wait the 6 months for nhs and end up pregnant before your first appt! 3 of my friends that has happened too!

GemB03 · 15/11/2021 20:37

@hoola23 just going private for testing to get some answers. My partner is so convinced everything is okay but I don't think I can relax not knowing. The tests are around £400 for us both in Manchester and it just seems worth it to put my mind at ease.
Randomly enough, we had a joiner in who was talking about how he did ivf abroad in Greece, said it cost a fraction of the price and was much better for his missus drug wise.
How long have you been trying for?

hoola23 · 15/11/2021 20:52

@GemB03 I defo think it's worth going private for testing just for the speed of it and an in depth consultation with an expert. Just be careful where you go as some clinics have very bad feedback!
We've been trying over a year now but had a chemical a few months back so that has strangely given me some reassurance that most of our bits are working to some extent🤣 I'm sure it will happen for you soon but I completely get your need to get the tests done, you just need to think if they come back normal, what your next plan is. I think it can be equally as frustrating finding out everything is fine but it's still not happening! Women always tend to want to go quicker, my dh is the same, it will happen when it happens but I'm far too impatient for all that 🤣🤣 I'm giving it until the new year then we will have a serious think about next steps. Personally I'm not sure if I could go through ivf as I'd be terrified it wouldn't work and wouldn't know what to do next!

GemB03 · 15/11/2021 21:07

@hoola23 yeah I'm not sure about IVF. It sounds like a horrible process and if I can't even deal with not conceiving naturally without having breakdowns how could I add the pressure of ivf to it and deal 🤣 not a chance, I'd be a wreck, probs end up single 😂
Yeah, this is what my DH was saying tonight when we were discussing it. He's like 'well when it all comes back as okay, then what do we do/how will you feel?' And to be honest, I don't know. I just know I need to do something now.
Oh I'm sorry about the chemical, but like you say, a little reassurance that all the bits are working! Silver linings in the weirdest way. How bloody crap is this process?!

CShandy01 · 15/11/2021 21:25

Evening everyone! How are we all doing? CD 11 here and my god it's like EWCM city for me (TMI sorry!) Still negative on the OPK, not even sure if there was a line there in the test section! 😂😂 ah well, if we can DTD tonight that'll be good!! Xx

CShandy01 · 15/11/2021 21:26

@GemB03 I seriously cannot agree with you enough about "how bloody crap" this process is. Honestly. Why was I told in school that sex can lead to pregnancy and that you'll get pregnant easily if you don't use protection?!?! They lied to me!! 😂😂😂 xx

hoola23 · 15/11/2021 21:36

@GemB03 it's SO crap! I really thought it would be such a magical time TTC and so exciting! It's legit shit! I hate it with a passion and it has really ruined sex for me, for now anyway I hope! But we carry on as I know the end result will be worth it!

GemB03 · 15/11/2021 21:44

@hoola23 so glad you said that because I feel the same that sex is being ruined! I'm associating sex with failure so it's the last thing I want to do when I know I'm not fertile.
I was so excited to TTC too, it felt like a fairytale... bloody nightmare more like.

@CShandy01 yep, feel the exact same... all those months trying desperately not to get pregnant, made it out like if I forgot one pill I'd be knocked up for sure 🤣 lies!

plantbasedlondoner · 16/11/2021 10:23

@newtolineofduty I am not even sure I ovulated this month but it is CD 34 and no sign - my cycles are usually 30/31 days with a variation of 25-32 days but never shorter and longer than that. The last time I had a 36 day cycle was August 2020 when I was quite stressed! I really wanted to move onto the next cycle so I could get to the DTDing but now I'm confused. I've never taken a pregnancy test as I always wait it out but I'm going to give it two more days. If it's just a long cycle, that will be disappointing :(

I might try the Evening primrose oil too next month! @hoola23 I really hope it's your month - I have so many friends who are August born! Sending baby dust everywhere - would be so lovely for us to have some good news before Christmas. My friend gave birth to a healthy baby girl this weekend and her first pregnancy was a stillbirth at 20 weeks. So I think her pregnancy was riddled with anxiety..I'm so happy for her x

hoola23 · 16/11/2021 10:56

@GemB03 oh it has really ruined sex for me. The sheer suggestion of sex outside of fertile week is met with disgust from me🤣 I'm sure that will change in the future and I've really tried to make it not about baby making but it's just too hard. Sex just has negative associations for me now. Last night was a struggle and it's only our second time trying this month! DH was so tired bless him but managed to get what I needed 🤣

hoola23 · 16/11/2021 10:57

@plantbasedlondoner ohhhh! I so so so hope this will have a good ending for you! I so admire your resistance not to test. That is some serious will power you've got! Please share!

How lovely about your friend, I bet she is elated! ❤️

GemB03 · 16/11/2021 12:03

@plantbasedlondoner so lovely to hear about your friend! And couldn't agree with @hoola23 more, what is your secret to resisting doing a test?! I never need to because I spot and cramp 2/3 days before AF so massive giveaway. But if I was late with no signs, I'd be doing hundreds!
I hope it's good news for you, everything is crossed xx

newtolineofduty · 16/11/2021 12:16

@plantbasedlondoner that all sounds very promising! Congrats to your friend especially after what she's been through-it's just horrific I don't know how people cope. Pregnancy is such a scary time.

@GemB03 @hoola23 @CShandy01 I TOTALLY agree on the sex thing. It REALLY impacted our relationship and intimacy. I honestly feel like our initial feelings about the BFP were 'thank fuck we don't have to try any more' as we found it so difficult psychologically-my DP in particular, and obviously if he struggles that's a major issue! We worked it out in the end though by accepting fertile week sex is rubbish and tried to balance it by ensuring we had sex at other times in the month to try and maintain a semi normal sex life but I'm afraid for me that sometimes involved forcing myself to get in the mood! X

GemB03 · 16/11/2021 12:28

@newtolineofduty yeah my partner struggled with it too to begin with. He hated that it was forced and planned. He had to get over that pretty quickly! Haha.
It's such a relief to hear that it's affected other people's attitude to sex too... something I was not expecting!

I've booked in with a private clinic in Manchester for a AMH test and an internal scan. Booked for next month as this month might be successful! Has anyone had these tests done before?

newtolineofduty · 16/11/2021 12:31

That's so positive @GemB03. What does the internal scan look at? X

CShandy01 · 16/11/2021 12:42

Hi everyone. How are we all doing today? I am exhausted 😩 school is crazy at the moment and the kids are feeling the pressure. We're due an inspection this year so any day could be a call from Ofsted. Everyone's on their knees and it's just taking a toll.

Trying to stay focused on the whole baby making, but it really is just getting forced now. And I hate that. Just wanting Christmas to be here so there's a lot of family distractions!!

What day cycles are well all on? @newtolineofduty how many weeks are you now? Are you feeling that they're going quickly? Xx

GemB03 · 16/11/2021 12:50

@newtolineofduty it's looking to check my follicle count, check the health of the ovaries, see if there are any polyps x

newtolineofduty · 16/11/2021 13:09

@GemB03 agh I see. The only reason I ask is I wondered if they look at the Fallopian tubes as well. My friend struggled with TTC then found out one of her tubes was blocked. Very straightforward op to clear it and three children then conceived very easily! X

@CShandy01 aww sounds horrendous. Both my parents were teachers and I remember how constantly stressed and exhausted they were! I'm 9 weeks 1 day. Some weeks drag and some weeks fly! Depends how bad I'm feeling lol but it's crazy to think in a week I'll be a quarter of the way through!

DDs birthday this weekend snd we're going away. I'm not sure how I'm going to cope with everything that we've got planned and a family party when we get back, not to mention the long car journey! So feeling anxious about that! X

GemB03 · 16/11/2021 13:09

@CShandy01 Ugh I feel you. I'm a teacher too and half term feels like a year ago already! Hope Ofsted isn't too painful when they come!

I'm CD8 now. Usually ovulate around CD15/16 so still a while to go for me.

@plantbasedlondoner how long did it take you before getting your BFP?

GemB03 · 16/11/2021 13:14

@plantbasedlondoner I think that's the next step after this initial internal exam. Apparently that one they put dye through the tubes to check for blockages. That'll be an extra cost so might wait for the NHS for that! Lol... we'll see...

Sounds like a lovely weekend, enjoy x

newtolineofduty · 16/11/2021 13:28

@GemB03 think you tagged @plantbasedlondoner instead of me hun x

Yes I guess there's some tests if you're happy to wait then it's best to wait!

So we conceived after the fifth cycle but that was five months of REALLY trying-OPKS and DTD loads etc. I know it doesn't sound like long but it felt like a lifetime for us because DD was conceived first month and my partner also has two children from his previous relationship who were also conceived straight away, so it was deffo tricker this time. I was expecting it though as I'm older now etc! X

OP posts:
GemB03 · 16/11/2021 13:35

Ah shit @plantbasedlondoner sorry I tagged you in the wrong post... definitely the worst question to tag the wrong person on too! Sorry lovely. This is why I shouldn't be on forums at work! Haha x

@newtolineofduty ah yeah it's crazy how hard it can feel early on, isn't it. I was devastated after cycle 1 and it never really got any better from there! Must have been tough when you know how easy it can be too x

hoola23 · 16/11/2021 13:39

@GemB03 that's great! I hope the testing gives you some reassurance hun!

@CShandy01 urgh ofsted! Hope you're not too stressed! Ours is looming too and no doubt they will turn up soon!

@newtolineofduty can't believe your 9 weeks already! It will go so quickly I'm sure! What are your guesses on the sex so far?

plantbasedlondoner · 16/11/2021 13:40

Thank you @hoola23 @GemB03 @newtolineofduty I guess I feel like I can cling onto hope if I don't do a test in some way and I would rather see AF than a BFN on a test - honestly not holding up hope as it was a write off this month!

Speaking of finding TTC sex difficult, we technically only did it once this month because I was working until 1am every night and the second time we tried DH could not get to the finish line so to speak. First time it has happened and it really dented his confidence! I think the pressure gets to them as well too. Before this, we used to be pretty regular 2-3 times a week but the TTC has taken the romance out somewhat. DH says he slightly dreads the phrase "I'm ovulating" so I'm trying to be more subtle during fertile week from now on and not announce it 🤣

hoola23 · 16/11/2021 13:45

Forgot to add I am having all kinds of twinges today. So odd! If I was in my TWW I'd be certain I'm pregnant! Cb still says low today but the urine was very pale so maybe why? Ignoring all these tests and just having sex anyway. Desperate for my august baby!!
