Oops crossed posts.
Sorry, I missed your question mumstheword
Can you repeat it?

07mumstheword · 09/01/2008 18:03

TF My sister knows it all too but she is 11 years older than me with 2 children and a grandson born last month and has that matron aura (sp?) Once at a family party she made me feel like the worst mother when DD cried and cried (possibly teething) I got home and cried and cried myself! I don't see her that often so that helps but she does have a kind heart.

My question was 16.14pm yesterday if you wanna read it but not to worry as I have made the decision to see the doctor for a chat anyway. Thanks though.

NoNickname · 09/01/2008 19:01

In the spirit of the thread's title, can I add my symptoms please....

  • itchy nipples
  • sore boobs
  • did have some womb pains and lower back ache yesterday but not much today
  • last week I was feeling nauseous ocasionally when hungry, but that's gone now

I am on cd24 (of 28) and 9 dpo.

I mc two years ago, and have not really been trying since then as it disheartened me. So this is our first cycle of really trying. Ds (4) took 18 months to conceive, so I think it highly unlikely that I am pg, but just have a niggling feeling that I am. Is tomorrow too early to test?

hidingbehindthesofa · 09/01/2008 19:06

TF, very sorry to hear about your grandfather. when my dad a died i didn't cry until the day of the funeral which was about 2 weeks later, then seemed to sob non stop and then not again.
anyway, he sounds like a lovely man who passed in the best way possible.
very good luck with the ttc. if its any help, i tested my CM, height and feel of cervix, and did OPK's just to make sure when the best time was. even bought clear blue fertlity monitor and was planning to use it this month but got BFP instead. going to hang on to it until i know this is a sticky one, but will then offer it up on here. anyway, a book i once read said the only way was to 'get obsessed and stay obsessed'. i think it was talking about life in general though.
gone on long enough.
take care of yourselves,

digitalgirl · 09/01/2008 19:18

mtw your cycles are normal length and regular so the dr will assume you are ovulating, however with two cp's there could be a progesterone deficiency (although it is most likely bad luck that this has happened). Do you know for sure how long your luteal phase is? Less than 10 days would also indicate low progesterone. The trick is to phrase your query so that doctor investigates your cycle as opposed to your fertility, because nhs guidelines mean most drs won't look into fertility until a year of ttc. However there are no rules at how soon they can look into problem periods.

I hope you don't think I'm trying to worry you about what could be wrong as its most probably bad luck and bad timing (ie you will eventually get pg naturally) but I know how it feels to be worried seeing each month pass by and nothing happening. It sometimes helps to feel like we're doing something productive like going to the drs, i'd rather do that than feel like I'm sitting in the dark.

and now in response to your post fairy...

My sister is 23 she would never dream of telling me how to ttc, she knows I would bite her head off if she did! People who think they know what's best when they've never even been in our situation really should learn to keep their mouth shut! So what if we're obsessed? We're creating a new life a human being, how can anyone be casual about that? On top of that the maternal urge to have a baby is one of the strongest emotions anyone can feel, too right we're obsessed, shows how human we are!!

anyway rant over!

Welcome nonickname those sound like good symptoms to me. You can get implantation from 8dpo so all quite plausible.

I have had more cramping today its really quite strong, which is confusing me as I'm only 6dpo. Surely this is too early for pre-af cramps? Oh well if I get a bfn then ive got a scan booked in to rule out endo.

Sorry about your bad news, tw. He sounds like a lovely man.

Apologies for not responding to your question 07, but I couldn't think of anything helpful to say. I did read something a while ago that said to go and see your doctor if you have been ttc for a year or if you are over 35 or if you feel that you need to get checked. This latter thing I think is the point. If your instinct is telling you to get checked out then you should, if only because being proactive can make things feel a bit better. And DG is right - if you can, make it about your periods, not about ttc when you speak to the Dr.

A quick story on that point... It took 7 months to conceive my daughter and when I came off the pill I noticed that I was getting period-type cramps a full week before AF showed up. I was worried I might have a luteal phase defect so I had myself referred to a consultant (privately) and was investigated for that. The Dr booked a scan for a few weeks later and took some blood, but before I could get the results I found out that I was pregnant. I can't help thinking that actually doing something about it helped me to conceive. It sounds silly, but it it how it felt to me.

No symptoms here but then I think I am only 4 DPO. My nips have been itchy and my tum feels bloated, but that could be progesterone/that brownie I had at lunch... (Detox starts next week)

LuckyBucky · 09/01/2008 20:23

Aw O7MTW sorry poppet. If I am honest I did see your question, then the Finn Dog jumped up on me and knocked the glass of wine that I shouldn't have been drinking and the glass smashed all over the floor into a million peices. . After cleaning it all up and settling back down I carried on where I left off and completely forgot to respond!

I too am thinking of the 'doctor' dilemma. I am on cycle 8 and am nearly 36. Having read up on things and knowing that I can get a BFP even if I did MC, I have decided to hang on in there for a year. However, given what happened when Gryffingirl when to the docs after legitemately waiting a year, it may be worth going and pretending I have been trying since Sept 06 when I mc'd as they will have records of it. All the literature says that a person of my age can easily take a year or more to conceive, so given that I am pretty average, I am hoping that is what it is. However, if you feel that something is not right, are getting anxious about it, or just want to know that there is nothing wrong, I think you should definitely go. And don't forget, your DP should go too. If there is a problem it could be him grin. I hope there is no problem though and that the bean turns up soon.

Fairy Sorry for your loss.

hedgepig · 09/01/2008 21:32

My GP was happy to take blood tests for me after 10 month (over 40) to get things rolling but got the impression that I wouldn't get to see a specialist until the year. And if I was under 35 2years!
She said the bloods were normal , but I'm kicking myself cos I didn't get the numbers, but it's one less thing to obsess about.

Me CD12, had EWCM for last 2 days and my boobs now hurt so I think I have ov-ed. No symptoms yet

ScaryHairy · 10/01/2008 08:26

Yay! fertilityfriend agrees with me that I ovulated on Saturday (and DH did his thing on both Fri and Sat). Three high temps have confirmed ovulation, so I guess now I am officially on the wait and for once I am pretty sure that DH and I did not get the timing wrong. It's not much but its a start.

07mumstheword · 10/01/2008 08:40

THANK YOU all for your responses.

DG Am I right in thinking that the leutal phase is the amount of days between getting a positive on an OPK and the first day of your period? If so I don't think I have a problem there because although I ovulate early say CD9 I still didn't get my AF until CD25. Although I could maybe tell the doctor that I have short cycles and if she asks tell her I don't use OPK's... but then she'll probably send me out to buy a pack!

Scary Your story is very interesting, just doing something seems to help doesn't it?

Bucky That naughty Finn or is it naughty Bucky for drinking wine Deep in my heart I don't think there is anything wrong but I feel I have to do something at least find out what this areas NHS rules are on when I can be referred if no joy.

Hedgepig I suppose it depends on the NHS area you live in as to what they are willing to do. I'm 35 in June so they may take that into account and split the difference

I'm sure the doctor will send me away with a pep talk about how unlucky it was to have had 2 Chemical Pregnancies but that proves I can get PG. Perhaps I'll just ask for the Progesterone tests?

Thanks everyone I'm not feeling so sorry for myself anymore. I saw my friend who had her baby 10 days ago last night and made sure I had a lovely hold as I heard it is good for your fertility!!

07mumstheword · 10/01/2008 08:41

Hooray for you Scary You can't do much more than that! Fingers crossed

witchandchips · 10/01/2008 09:43

AF arrived last night

JollyBear · 10/01/2008 10:00

I'm sorry witchandchips

Glad you're feeling more positive MTW sorry for missing your post Hope the Doctor is helpful.

Hello to everyone else!

digitalgirl · 10/01/2008 14:02

yawn...7dpo today. have been busy this morning so no time to sit around dreaming up symptoms. altho did have a bit of an upset tummy before leaving for work, which I haven't had for a while (especially since giving up coffee last summer).

temp crept up a notch too, which is promising.

but if I'm honest, apart from constant womb awareness, I have no symptoms today. there's always tomorrow (which is first real day implantation can happen).

OP posts:
digitalgirl · 10/01/2008 14:06

sorry about AF W&C

MTW luteal phase is counted from the day after ovulation (so maybe 2 days after a positive OPK) till the day before AF. so if you get a +ve OPK on CD9, you ov on CD10/11 and then end your cycle on CD25 that means you have a 14/15 day luteal phase which is really good.
Do you keep bding till about CD15? Coz sometimes these opk s come early.

OP posts:
hattyyellow · 10/01/2008 15:33

dg wot no symptoms? I'm sure you can dream some up, I'm thinking of adding some to the list...urge for chocolate, tick...although your upset tummy and temp increase sound good ...i've had an upset tummy too and i am counting it as a symptom

w&c so sorry about AF

hoping we all get some good news soon..

hattyyellow · 10/01/2008 15:34

mtw going to the docs sounds like a really positive step - at least you feel that you are getting some answers hopefully

hattyyellow · 10/01/2008 15:35

bucky random wave! haven't "seen" you for ages

will stop cluttering up board now

H (cbcb)

ScaryHairy · 10/01/2008 18:53

Sorry about AF w&c

Nothing much to report here - 5dpo so no symptoms yet.

mibbes · 10/01/2008 20:46

sorry af got you witchandchips . By the way - great name !

Well still no af here so have decided to spot symptoms.. have had a fleeting fuzzy/dizzy spell a few times over the past week - is that a sign - or am I just overdosing on fruit and green tea in my attempt at a Jan detox...? It is always very brief but strange and has happened 4 or 5 times now...wishful thinking? Also have been full of energy - which is like and anti-symptom as you are supposed to get tired ! Again maybe the detox has caused the energy surge ! Oh well is doesn't hurt to hope... (.)(.) are not sore atall(despite prodding..) and no cramps today.

twinklingfairy · 10/01/2008 20:50

I wrote a post on the ttc thread earlier today and was not noticed at all
But it is all new people there now and they talk a lot
Just thanking them for there kind words about my granddad, but hey ho, nevermind, just thought I woudl have a poor me moment.

5dpo here too and not really much to report, cept a bit of lower back pain.
The flashbacks have subsided a bit.
I think I embarassed myself though. I happened to meet my health visitor in town today and she asked if #2 would be on the way soon. So next thing she knows she has been dtold, yes we have been trying for 6 months, I am worried cos of my D&C, has it damaged me, etc etc.
I did realise what I was doing and apologised, she just smiled and said don't worry, but still think I was silly
Ambushing HV's in charity shops is not good
In my defence, she did ask!

mibbes · 10/01/2008 20:59

pmsl at outburst to HV - it is her own fault for asking

twinklingfairy · 10/01/2008 21:04

Yeah, thats what I thought
I did the same in a shop were the owner is a yap. It was when just before were first trying and I was stil BF DD so I told him, 'No, did you know that BF stops your periods.'
Ooops, I may have embarassed him a little. Then I said, well you did ask. But even I thought, yes but he didn't ask for that kind of info.
Mind you it didn't stop him asking again recently. Though I gave him slightly less info than the HV

mibbes · 10/01/2008 21:07

LOL good on you ! Well if these nosey people will ask !
