Fertility Clinic Appointments and Beyond..

New thread for us to continue our fertility clinic appointment progress...

Some of us are waiting for initial appointments, some are having tests and some are starting treatment!

I’m going for a scan and starting letrozole round 2 on Thursday. I asked for a blood test this cycle to make sure I’m ovulating/the progesterone is enough. At least I’ll know if my progesterone might need increasing ahead of IVF.

Thank you @Juno231 & @beckyCarlos I've not been asked to do any other tests only the day 21 (which I've had to do twice now) at least I know what to ask for now. Can I ask what the ultrasound is looking for? Like I said I think my gp is a bit clueless and I want to be armed with as much info as possible before I speak to her tomorrow.

I really am in awe of all you ladies here, how you're keeping it together after all the time you've had to wait to get to where you are. I've waited two weeks to speak to gp about blood results and that's driving me crackers! Counting down to clinic appointment in Feb is going to do my head in.

@eli707 the scan will be looking at your lining and ovaries, so on mine (for example) they found my ovaries to be enlarged and polycystic.

I'm CD17 and got a big temp rise today. I think its likely I ovulated yesterday based on the scan on CD15 and all the ovulation pain I have been getting. Hopefully I haven't popped out and fertilised all three eggs 😆

I have been asked to visit the hospital for my day 21 bloods on Monday 4th (CD21) but I will only be 5DPO... do you think this will be a problem?

@Tillybabs good luck today. I’ve just been to have a blood test so I think I’m all set now for egg Collection on Friday.
I’m so glad tonight is my last 2 injections 🙌 nearly there!

I had my scan today and I'm booked in for egg collection on Saturday.

I have 8 large follicles, about another 7 slight smaller ones and 12 smaller ones.

I got to have my blood tests tomorrow morning.

Initially they were going to freeze eggs to do a hysterocopy but she's now saying she doesn't think I need it and they will look to do a fresh transfer if bloods are ok. Not sure how I feel about that! Depending on how many if any eggs are good, I might request that they are frozen first.

Not happy with the change of plan!

@Tillybabs I think sometimes you have to go with the flow. But I'm a bit the same, I like to know where I stand and I hate last minute changes! See what they say.

@Tillybabs glad your egg collection is booked in now.. good amount of follicles too 🙌 they never told me the amount of small/smaller ones I had just told me the amount of large ones.. I should have asked really but they already saw me 40 mins late (dr was stuck in traffic) so I think it was quite rushed unfortunately.
Oh no I personally am not good when plans change - can you still request they are all frozen or will you just go with what they suggest once your there on Saturday?

@Lori23TTC I'm not sure, I'm going to mention it when I go on Saturday.

She said if the first transfer is unsuccessful then they would investigate but what if I only have one shot?!

I'm going to ask if I only have one that it's frozen and I have a hysterocopy as previously planned.

Also I think they check the lining before transfer right? So its something I can raise, my concerns.

@Tillybabs yea see what they say on Saturday. It’s really hard to know what the best thing to do is so talking to them will help.

No one has mentioned to me about checking the lining but I would assume that’s what the do - I actually don’t have much info on what happens and I think I’m better not knowing to much - I’m hoping for a fresh transfer but you just don’t know how many your going to get ect so things can change.

The needle was fine - pretty sure it’s the smallest one out of all of them and you have to press it down all in one rather than slowly. Feels good to be done with the injections but I am feeling really anxious about the cannula tomorrow as I’ve never had one in the hand before! You think I would be ok with needles by now!

@Lori23TTC I'm the same as you, I don't know much lol. I feel like I should though but as you said sometimes it's better not to.

@Tillybabs yes I would see how many they get first. But if only one then I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest freezing.

So an update from me. Sigh. Getting to private clinic will be better they said. Yeah right. We've had loads of paperwork and online stuff to watch. Everything has been signed digitally. Failed at speaking to anyone since my consultant (i left voicemail and emailed). Finally got hold of them yesterday after ringing like 6 times to be told I had been signed off for this month. Drugs need to be started Saturday and have the drugs company been in touch yet. Nope? Finally heard from them this morning and earliest delivery was Monday in the online select thing, so I had to call them up. But they can get them to me on time. I hope. This is not the stress free experience I was looking for though. I feel like I've no idea what's going on at all. Initially I only need to inject buserelin but I hope to good someone is going to explain the rest of it to me after that!

Anyone else get nausea when having ovitrelle? I feel very nauseous this morning

@Tillybabs thank you. So the procedure was fine, they ended up doing 2 cannula’s on me as the first one didn’t work (that wasn’t nice) but I fell asleep straight away after 2 puffs of oxygen and the sedation was put in. Feeling quite sore and I also have a risk of OHSS as they got more eggs than expected. I got 24 and 18 of those have been frozen. I can’t have a fresh transfer anymore due to the OHSS and hubby is going to collect some medication for me from Croydon tomorrow to help. Hopefully won’t have to wait to long for a frozen transfer.

I've just looked at the paperwork about the clinic and am a bit confused. I think this paper might have been given to people pre Covid.

Is the clinic where the EC is done at, at the London women's clinic on Harley Street

@Tillybabs yes the paperwork is out of date annoyingly. EC is at the women’s clinic in London Harley street. Was quite a long journey for me and was lots of traffic!
