New thread for us to continue our fertility clinic appointment progress...

Some of us are waiting for initial appointments, some are having tests and some are starting treatment!

I use easy@home opk strips and they work well for me. They are the only ones I've used though

Juno231 · 02/07/2021 13:54

@JeanieJ @kay00 low progesterone would also result in low post O temps and could perhaps be related to weak LH peaks?

I use femomether opks and get my peak every cycle luckily - but def temp alongside it as otherwise I'd be second guessing myself.

JeanieJ · 02/07/2021 14:05

Thanks Guys!
Probably another question for the doc next week. I do get EWCM about 2/3 days before my peak, so OH & I just DTD every other day from when that appears until 2 days after LH surge - this month we'll try for a bit longer, it just gets a bit mechanical towards the end of the window 🤨
I had wondered about low progesterone with my temps. Maybe there's a test for that? 🤔

Tommy's are doing research into progesterone & miscarriages. Maybe something will come out of that!

@Kay00 lol, all I know is that I'm a restless sleeper which is why I thought I should be warmer. I don't even warm up that much if I walk around the house. I need to go on a run to heat up! It's so weird. I thought it was the thermometer, so got a new one- still the same result.

@thislittlebird good luck with your pose hycosy month 🤞

I'm on CD6, so back in the mildly hopeful phase again.

Juno231 · 02/07/2021 16:06

@JeanieJ your day 21 test will have checked progesterone - have you had that done before getting referred to a fertility clinic? I did see that Tommy's research - they're recommending progesterone pessaries in the first trimester which is great news!

JeanieJ · 02/07/2021 18:09

@Juno231 weirdly I have not had that blood test.
My gp sent me a normal blood test, then referred me, the fertility consultant sent me for ultrasound, AMH and HSG.
I'm deffo gonna ask him next week. 😬

Kay00 · 02/07/2021 20:20

@jeanieJ I have never had a day 21 test done either. If I get offered Clomid then they will fo a scan around CD14 to see if I have responded then they do a blood test on day 21 to test the progesterone. I guess if the progesterone is low then they will prescribe some to take in my LP??

JeanieJ · 02/07/2021 20:54

@Kay00 ok cool.
When I had my ultrasound he saw my corpus luteum and confirmed ovulation on the right hand side that month. I guess I kinda just didn't think about whether I ovulate or not after that & now have more been focused on my potential blocked tube & anxiously waiting on AMH results.

When's your next appointment? Is that when you'll find out whether you get clomid?

Kay00 · 02/07/2021 21:28

@jeaniej my next appointment is 3rd August I think. The consultant said she would offer me clomid. She also said I could get started with Metformin in the meantime, but I called on Monday to ask for it and I'm still waiting for a doctor to sign it off. I was hoping to get the Metformin started sooner than later as I'm going camping for a week mid July and I don't fancy having a dicky belly whilst hanging out in a tent in a field 😅

xoJellybean · 02/07/2021 23:07

Hi everyone... sorry to gatecrash 🙈 I've just been referred and am awaiting my initial appointment, kinda anxious and worried so would be great to have others to chat to while I wait...😊

PurpleUnicorn01 · 02/07/2021 23:27

@xoJellybean welcome! The first appointment they ask your general history etc and refer you for any tests. For ivf in most areas you need to have been trying for at least 2 years. I had some tests done privately to speed things along. Good luck x

xoJellybean · 03/07/2021 08:14

@PurpleUnicorn01 thanks for replying!! We have been trying just short of two years, I was in denial that nothing was wrong and it would just happen 🙈 how wrong was I! where are you at on your journey? X

Tillybabs · 03/07/2021 11:54

@xoJellybean welcome! I was referred after a year of trying because of my age I'm 40. We had our initial appointment via zoom and the Dr just asked questions like how long we have been trying, how long we have been together, our lifestyles etc. She did ask why I waited until now. Also asked stuff like what we do for work etc
She then said I would be referred for a Hycosy scan and OH had to contact his GP to give a sperm sample.

PurpleUnicorn01 · 03/07/2021 14:51

@xoJellybean im on day 3 of my down regulation drugs.

dogmam · 05/07/2021 12:40

Hello @xoJellybean our first thread might be worth looking through 'first fertility appointment tomorrow' as there's loads of details about all the appointments all the way up to starting treatment.
I had my first appointment in January after going to the GP in October, which was the year mark, and I have just started injections for ICSI so it's been really quick for us. Hope you find some answers soon.

How is everyone else doing? I'm day 6 of stims and introduced the second injection on Saturday, which stops ovulation. I was supposed to have a scan today to check follicle growth but it's to early so it's been re-arranged for Wednesday. I feel fine though, it's funny because you wait so long and think it's going to be such a huge thing, which it is emotionally of course but realistically it's 5 mins out your day to do injections then normality resumes. I have one or two bruises but stims injections have been fine, no major side effects other than an odd sensation in my tummy. The Cetrotide really hurts though so hot water bottle has helped.

@dogmam omg yes im on day 5 of down regs and u build it so much and you're done in 5 lol. I hope your scan goes well. Ive had slight nausea with down regs but had a nasty cold the day i started so it could be down to that too

dogmam · 05/07/2021 14:44

@purpleunicorn01 yes that's so true! Hopefully you feel better once your cold goes, when do you start stims and have you been booked in for a scan yet?

OP posts:
PurpleUnicorn01 · 05/07/2021 14:59

@dogmam yes i have the baseline scan on 19th July then all being well start stims. Then i think they do another scan after 9ish days then every other day after than to descide when to do EC.

Tillybabs · 05/07/2021 21:21

@dogmam that's good to hear that you feel fine.

I'm anxiously awaiting the results of my amh blood test. Other than that, I'm in the tww and have our ivf eligibility appointment next week.

Tillybabs · 07/07/2021 10:53

Morning!

I called the clinic to see if they had my amh results and they do but the receptionist said she can't give results over the phone arrghhh

I gotta wait until my appointment on Monday.

I'm so impatient lol

PurpleUnicorn01 · 07/07/2021 11:31

@tillybabs arghhh that is annoying. Just remember no matter what it is if you go for ivf it just matters how you respond to the medication. You only need 1 egg. Don't get too caught up on numbers. These process is stressful as it is.

Tillybabs · 07/07/2021 12:12

@PurpleUnicorn01 thanks you are right. I just hope we can get it on the nhs but of course if we can't then we will go private.

PurpleUnicorn01 · 07/07/2021 12:17

@Tillybabs they are usually pretty good in terms of giving out the funding in our area if it's nothing obvious after all the tests then you have to have been trying over 2 years. Just check on google the criteria for your area. Might make you feel better.

dogmam · 07/07/2021 15:29

@tillybabs that's so annoying they can't give you it! I don't see why they can't, it's your information after all.

@purpleunicorn01 how are you? Injections still ok?

OP posts:
dogmam · 07/07/2021 15:30

Pressed sent too soon..

I had a scan today to check follicle growth.. I am responding very well! Almost too well and at risk of OHSS. I have over 20 follicles so booked to go back on Friday for another scan with view to do egg collection on Monday Grin

@dogmam I am so excited for you!! Its happening!! Grin

@Tillybabs I have an app on my phone linked with my local Devon trust (its called MyCare, but they might have something similar where you are) and it allows me to review any results as soon as they are released. No more do I need to call up and speak to a sarcastic GP receptionist, only to be told everything is 'fine' when it isn't!
