Fertility Clinic Appointments and Beyond..

New thread for us to continue our fertility clinic appointment progress...

Some of us are waiting for initial appointments, some are having tests and some are starting treatment!

Your doctor seems so annoying..how come you have to apply? They are supposed to do it for you.

@PurpleUnicorn01 no idea, no one has communicated anything. She sent of a referral for ivf which resulted in me getting a big pack of paperwork sent home to fill out. I've had to send it to the clinic for them to sign off on it and I guess they'll submit it on my behalf? Not that they explained any of it, I've just been worrying about filling it in wrong and wondering who I send it to and how my doc is meant complete some of it for me if I've not been asked to send it to them lol.

@thislittlebird ah yes guys, I keep getting guys and Kings mixed up for whatever reason. But super quick in either case - and I remember she got told the funding would take 2-3 months to come through but it happened within a few weeks. It's why I don't trust any of the timelines lol.

@juno231 that's so odd. Maybe you're area is different. Hopefully it's all okay. Main thing is your referral is sent. The ivf units are much more friendlier don't worry x

Feel like im going crackers already only 8 days to go until I test. Keep seeing stuff like oh don't bend down. Im like well how do you not bend down lol

I just want to say thank you to everyone for their support and advice. The information you girls have provided is amazing and i be definitely be mentioning to the fertity specialist.

I had my scan and the results where positive, a little bit of retained products but they said its nothing to worry about and will come on its own. If i still have a positive pregnancy test in 3 weeks then to go back for a another scan and medical management, i crossing everything that this won't happen.

I have taken your girls advice and phoned the GP & got us referred to the RMC so thats in progress.

The EPU unit i have to say was amazing yeatersay, they basically said that because i have had 3 recurrent miscarriages, if i dont hear from the GP by the time we fall preganant again, I can self refer and see their fertility specialist consultant and get an urgent appt to hopefully then commence medication after the consultation, also that they will scan us every week from 6 weeks. So we.feel so much supported this time.

@Annabell1 I will definitely get the GP to run the blood work that you suggested thank you.

@dogmam i will definitely be asking about the progesterone when the time comes

I hope everyone else is getting on okay, i have noticed throughout this thread that its seem.to.be mentioned frequently that the doctors are saying that there is nothing wrong without all of the information to hand which I think is disgraceful, can you request another doctor to review your results and take on your case? xx x @Juno231 i would mention it, your feedback will prevent it happening.to.others. she/he shouldn't be dismissive like that so I'm sorry your had to go.through that. Xx

@PurpleUnicorn01 @Juno231 I agree. My ivf paperwork we literally need to sign. And tick which clinic we want. All the rest is done for us? How can the nhs differ so much?
@Sandiesands oh that's great news. Definitely sounds more positive moving forwards. Nothing worse than feeling on your own with it. Fingers crossed.

@paintfairy we only have one hospital at the time i just got given a code to book online after the referal

@Juno231 @paintfairy ah so the doctor/clinic where you've both had all of the investigations isn't the same place as where the ivf will be?
Once I was referred by the GP all my investigations and actual ivf has been at the same place, in fact I haven't had to see my GP since the referral was made last year. All forms and paperwork etc has all been done through the one same clinic. I hope once all the paperwork is all done it's more straight forward for you both.

@dogmam no. For me - GP refers to hospital after initial bloods etc. Hospital did extras like scan, hsg etc. Then I got 3 rounds of IUI. But that's as far as they go there, they don't have an ivf unit. So you are then referred to a private clinic. There is a list and you can choose. When I went for my final IUI they gave me the ivf paperwork. I just send it back to them, they then transfer all my info over to the private clinic I've chosen.

@dogmam like im going to have a meltdown lol. Only 8 days to go but honestly its so difficult. 1 day is like a week. Doesnt help all the meds give you pregnancy symptoms also. Argh

@PurpleUnicorn01 I can't imagine! I still get restless at the end of every TWW on just a normal cycle....you know..just in case it's the month! I hope you are doing OK and managing to distract yourself a little bit!

I can totally relate to some of the comments about the Dr at the fertility clinic. She's a lovely lady but every time I go for a scan, it feels rushed. She also doesn't seem to have a clue what stage I'm at. She even asked me if I have had a caesarean! I said no I've not had a child ffs. Also, when waiting for my scan I'm put in a room right next to the room and if someone is in before me, I ca hear everything. It's not private at all.

So I'm at Croydon uni hospital and I've been told the egg collection etc will be done at a clinic in Harley street because of Covid, they aren't doing it at the hospital.

@Tillybabs ooh which clinic do you know? I keep forgetting how close you are to me!

@Juno231 they did tell me briefly but I can't remember! Rubbish I know. I should find out more details soon

@Juno231 it was mentioned during our appointment where they ran through how treatment works, the mediation etc. They gave us all the forms to complete. It was so much to take in lol.

I have a follow up call on Friday and will ask her then.

Yes a BFP! I tested 3 days earlier than the date but i have mild ohss so that was the give away lol still in shock.

@PurpleUnicorn01 aaaaaaah congrats!! So pleased for you! Can't believe it worked so well first time after TTC for so long! Could you recap your story for us please? How many dpo post transfer are you now? Do you feel any different? How did OH take it? This is BIG!

@Tillybabs haha yeah I don't blame you, it's funny how our minds work. Was OH with you on the call? A second person is great to have for medical meetings exactly for this reason. I'm at Kingston hospital although that's not my local hospital. Not got dr shubha but I think I've seen their name mentioned on the Croydon fertility thread?

So i have a low AMH and oH has low motility/ count. We had icsi. I am 9 days post transfer now but i had a strong line yesterday. I had a 5 day transfer. I did do a sneaky test in the middle just to ensure the hcg trigger was out my system.

@Juno231 OH was there lol!! When she calls on Friday I'm going to write everything down.

I'm considering getting a 2nd opinion tranvaginal scan. Don't know if I'm just being over cautious. I just feel like the Dr rushes me and doesn't explain exactly what the growths are that she sees and what it means etc.

I have an appointment with her on Friday by phone so will ask her more questions then and if not satisfied, maybe look at a private scan to put my mind at ease. Or am I being silly? She has scanned me a number of times!
