Some of us are waiting for initial appointments, some are having tests and some are starting treatment!

@PurpleUnicorn01 good luck :) Hope all goes smoothly :)

thislittlebird · 09/08/2021 11:15

@dogmam

Little update on me, I had egg collection today and wow I was not prepared for that, I thought I'd be fast asleep but was awake and could feel everything. Not painful but very uncomfortable but in a fair bit of pain since so hot water bottle it is. I had a lorazapam last night and again this morning so was chilled and all the stuff were amazing. My partner was allowed to stay with me in the ward right until I got taken for EC, it took about 40 mins then I had to stay on the ward for a few hours. I felt instantly sick and couldn't eat anything so was given anti sickness meds. Anyway the good news is they collected 19 eggs which I'm so pleased about! When my partner was allowed back after I'd been able to have a wee, we sat down with the embryologist who said we will find out tomorrow if any/how many fertilise. Fingers crossed!! We will then get further updates on thursday and saturday to find out how many made it to blastocyst.
@dogmam I just saw this old message as I was trying to get to the latest page. What did you have? Sedation? Gas and air? This is one of my big concerns tbh. Lister do sedation but they've told me I won't be aware. They used to do GA until Covid.
thislittlebird · 09/08/2021 11:17

@PurpleUnicorn01 what day is it today? I'm not up to speed!

I got a call today from Guys. We now have an appointment on Aug 31 with the ACU. This seems to have happened after I sent a moany email at the weekend and then they replied 6pm Saturday saying I'd hear on Monday.

PurpleUnicorn01 · 09/08/2021 12:25

@thislittlebird embryo transfer. Arghhhhh. Im nervous excited

thislittlebird · 09/08/2021 12:28

@PurpleUnicorn01 crazy! that's gone so fast! good luck for today x

Juno231 · 09/08/2021 13:45

@thislittlebird ah fantastic!

thislittlebird · 09/08/2021 14:06

@Juno231 I have no idea what the appointment is for. Told me on Saturday I’d hear about funding today but they didn’t mention funding and just said come in Aug 31 at 3pm and bring id Hmm

Jazz234 · 09/08/2021 14:17

Hi all! Hope you don't mind me jumping in. I have been cheering you all on behind the scenes and love to see your updates. Thought it was time I got involved x

Personally, I am waiting to hear if our NHS funding for IVF has been approved, (should hear early september).

Just ordered an eye watering amount of supplements including, coQ10, R Alpha lipoic acid, proceive, vit E and C...fingers crossed they help! I got the reccomendations from the 'it starts with an egg' book by Rebecca Fett.

paintfairy · 09/08/2021 14:57

@thislittlebird God that's my concern too as I've read some horror stories about concious sedation. And it really seems to vary! I did see the comments from @dogmam and didn't dare ask. 🙈🤣 Really doesn't seem appealing at all....

Juno231 · 09/08/2021 15:06

@paintfairy a lot of the ladies on another thread I'm on seem to have had conscious sedation but didn't have anything negative to say about it. I keep thinking it'll be much nicer than a hycosy!

@Jazz234 I sent my funding application today so I think I'll hear back in Sep also! Never heard of lipoic acid but kinda feel supplemented out lol.

@thislittlebird ha I didn't dare ask in case you'd already said what the appointment was for. If they asked you to bring ID then hopefully the meeting will be to go through the application and send it off then and there? Mine had to be sent back to the clinic for them to do their sign offs so hopefully yours is just skipping that part. I hate how little info we get though - like that random appointment I had in June for no reason...

Aliceinivfland · 09/08/2021 15:30

Hello everyone sorry for the radio silence, I've had a close family member diagnosed with terminal cancer and it is really progressive 😭 ivf has gone on the back burner a bit. So glad to see most of you have had positive news with embryos and collections!
I am waiting on my GP to transfer over the funding from my old ccg to the new one. I had my blood results take from last ivf cycle finally sent through today (part of the reason I have left Homerton)
Anyway it doesn't look good, I am really unsure what this means, so if anyone can help please? This is ivf cycle day 8:
Fsh:13.1u/L
Amh:15.38 pmo/L
I don't think this is good and I just feel even more stressed and overwhelmed.

Kay00 · 09/08/2021 15:55

@Aliceinivfland Sorry to hear about your close relative. Hugs xx

Hopefully one of the other ladies here can help you interpret your results xx

Juno231 · 09/08/2021 16:07

@Aliceinivfland I'm so sorry about your relative, big hugs xx Your AMH looks good but your FSH is rather elevated. Depending on the CCG you might not qualify for IVF with it at that level, so best check the local policy :(

thislittlebird · 09/08/2021 19:34

@Jazz234 welcome aboard!

Not long to wait now on your funding. What’s your ttc story to date?

@Juno231 I hope so. What happens after they send it off? More waiting? So little info, very annoying.

@paintfairy I hate it. I don’t think it’s right that women should have to go in worrying about this. Not saying GA for all, but a choice or a means of reliable sedation. I don’t want to be awake and my consultant did say I can discuss it with them on the day if I want GA.

@Aliceinivfland sorry to hear your sad news. The FSH is a little high like Juno said, but you’re already with nhs ivf aren’t you? Have you had an AFC?

paintfairy · 09/08/2021 20:07

@thislittlebird the inconsistency of how people react is what scares me? Some asleep and some feeling everything? I'm still toying between 2 clinics, one of which definitely does concious sedation but it's relatively new that it's swapped to that. The other I'm not sure yet. I'm yet to find out. After a recent traumatic op at the hospital (unrelated) I have absolutely no desire to be lying there in agony. Again.
@Aliceinivfland oh no, I'm sorry. That sounds awful.

thislittlebird · 09/08/2021 20:39

@paintfairy agreed. It’s really quite concerning and I’m terrified I’ll be awake for it with or without the ability to feel things. If I’m going to be sedated I don’t want to be conscious.

Lister told me they used to do GA and then because of covid they switched to sedation. Don’t love that. I’m going to ask for more information about what kind of sedation they do when I email them.

I’m very anxious and I will have a panic attack if they leave me there awake. I find having any medical procedure very stressful, it’s a really unfortunate scenario that I’m having to conceive this way because I have a history of freaking out ahead of anything invasive and medical being done to me.

dogmam · 09/08/2021 20:59

@PurpleUnicorn01 good luck for today! And I hope you find the remaining 4 are able to be frozen.

@thislittlebird great news about your appointment, better late than never! So the night before and the morning of, I had lorazepam, which I can only describe as making me feel spacey but not in a sickly or tiered way, I would say it made me feel a lot less anxious, infact I wasn't nervous at all since I took them, they really chilled me out. I was sedated but awake, kind of like when you're asleep but then are suddenly woken up, kind of groggy? I was chatting to the nurse throughout at my end who was holding my hand, she was lovely. It was painful, just uncomfortable, I assume if I looked like I was in pain they would have given me more sedation? Not sure, I think I was perhaps a one off as lots of other ladies at my clinic fell fast asleep. As soon as they took me back on the ward though that's when I went to sleep, so maybe for me it just didn't kick in quick enough or maybe I was fighting to stay awake, I don't know. I promise it's not bad though, like I wouldn't be worried if I was awake again next time. For me the worst part was aftwards when I got home, that's when I was in pain.

@juno231 so pleased the papers are sent off! The final wait for you now!

I am still waiting for AF to start this FET!

@dogmam @thislittlebird I think I freak out too and somehow manage to fight it off. I'm not sure why covid means they have to make people suffer?

thislittlebird · 09/08/2021 21:18

@paintfairy it annoys me because they don’t explain why they’ve changed it. My best guess is because of turnaround time? Maybe they can get people out and recovered faster with sedation but I’m not convinced that should be the priority.

PurpleUnicorn01 · 09/08/2021 21:45

Hi ladies, im officially in the 2ww gang lol i don't know if il last

Juno231 · 09/08/2021 21:59

@PurpleUnicorn01 woop congrats on being PUPO! When is your OTD and when do you think you'll crumble? 😂

99pctpractice · 09/08/2021 22:02

Ooh all fingers crossed @PurpleUnicorn01 !

@Aliceinivfland I thought they needed to test FsH early on in your menstrual cycle to assess if it’s too high or not (eg days 2-4 or something), but I could be wrong? Your AMH sounds good!!

I start stimulation meds tomorrow. Excited but nervous, plus the norethisterone they gave me pre-cycle has given me the worst period cramps and bloating I think I have ever had…!

paintfairy · 09/08/2021 22:16

@PurpleUnicorn01 yay! Exciting times!
@thislittlebird certainly shouldn't be! Some people have paid for proper GA too and yet they've still done the sedation. Its not on.

PurpleUnicorn01 · 09/08/2021 22:20

@juno231 think im already about to crack lolll its not even been 24 hours

Thank you all x

thislittlebird · 09/08/2021 22:32

@paintfairy really? Wow that’s terrible. I assume that’s private. I’ll definitely be having a conversation about it.
