New thread for us to continue our fertility clinic appointment progress...

Some of us are waiting for initial appointments, some are having tests and some are starting treatment!

I've had 4 tests, the most recent a week ago today (the day 21 ones, you know for progesterone) and they've all been 1 or

beth1311 · 30/07/2021 11:26

Sorry @Kay00 I always forget to tag! X

99pctpractice · 30/07/2021 12:46

thanks everyone for the pointers re work. i think i'll just have to play it by ear a bit this first round. luckily, i'm still working from home until September, so unless egg collection falls on the day of a meeting i can't reschedule, i should hopefully be able to navigate it without having to start making excuses. and then hopefully for subsequent rounds i'll have a better idea of the timings and so will just plan to take a week off the week following collection! @dogmam thanks for the tips re day 3 and 5 calls, i hadn't really thought through that side of things at all.

i don't really want to tell anyone at work because i work in a really small company (only 6 of us in the uk) all men apart from me, and i don't know how they'll react, but i'm pretty sure it will make them start treating me differently.

@Aliceinivfland i can't believe that they asked you for proof, that really feels like crossing a line. i totally know what you mean about feeling the need to take time off to do ivf. it would be a lot simpler not juggling work at the same time (plus my head space would be a lot less busy!!).

Kay00 · 30/07/2021 16:18

@beth1311 It sounds as though you maybe have had an estrogen surge around the time of your usual ovulation if you had fertile CM, but that doesn't mean you ovulated. The fact that you took progesterone tests a week after that (and a week before now) suggests you didn't ovulate. But that's not entirely abnormal (happens to me a lot Smile). So possibly your body is having another go now.

Keep temping, and keep testing with OPKs so you can catch a peak (if possible). The more of a picture you are able to build then the more prepared you will be for your fertility appointment.

Can you remind me... how long have you been TTC? And what progesterone tests were these? Were they organised by your GP? Or was it a private firm (where you post off a blood sample)?

thislittlebird · 30/07/2021 16:27

I've had a rough week and I think we're going to put any job change/house moves on hold for now. I'm not coping well with the stress and uncertainty and we really need to focus on the IVF. We don't have the money to keep doing endless rounds, unfortunately, so need to put as much effort in to the ones we're about to pay for as we can.

My new ivf doctor seems nice so far. He gave me his mobile and said to call or text any time if I have any questions and he'll get back to me within a day. I emailed his secretary yesterday about my migraines because I'd forgotten to mention them but didn't want to text or call already, and he called me back this morning to chat. So that was good? I like it.

beth1311 · 30/07/2021 16:39

@Kay00 actively trying about 2 years, but we've never used contraception and it's been almost 5 years now.

They were ordered by the GP yeah to figure out if I was ovulating. I wonder if I've just been taking the tests too early and missing it, although I still thought the results would be more than

beth1311 · 01/08/2021 12:22

I'm pretty sure I'm at my peak now?!

My temp over the last 3 days has gone up from 36.3 to 36.4 and today it's 36.6!

Also, this test is a solid positive/peak isn't it? Please say it is 😂

Fertility Clinic Appointments and Beyond..
Tillybabs · 01/08/2021 12:35

@beth1311 yep that's a positive opk right there and your temp confirms that too. 🎉🎉

Ive had a bizarre month. It seems for the first time since starting ttc , I haven't ovulated. I haven't temped properly this month though so maybe I missed it, not sure. Typical as I'm meant to call the fertility clinic when I have a positive opk, to book a scan for 7 days after to confirm ovulation.

I had a darker opk cd15 but it was nowhere near as dark as it normally gets

beth1311 · 01/08/2021 12:43

@Tillybabs it always happens like that doesn't it! Very frustrating.
Will you have to wait another month now to book the appointment? X

Tillybabs · 01/08/2021 12:51

@beth1311 I will call tomorrow and they will probably still book me in to check I imagine.

Juno231 · 02/08/2021 09:43

@PurpleUnicorn01 update please!

dogmam · 02/08/2021 09:53

Lol @juno231 I was just about to type the same thing! @purpleunicorn01 how's things?!

I'm still reading all of your updates but nothing to report with me until AF arrives but I am so anxious about the clinic not being able to fit me in so having to wait another month! I've been staying super healthy aka borning ready for this FET and really don't want to have to do it for another month!

OP posts:
thislittlebird · 02/08/2021 10:41

@dogmam I was thinking about you last night and the FET. I really do wish they would do a freeze all as standard at my clinic, I’m so worried about overstimulation and wasting an embryo because my uterus is a big mess from the IVF. I can pay for it, but it’s frustrating that you have to pay whether it’s a request or a medical need.

PurpleUnicorn01 · 02/08/2021 11:15

@dogmam well things have turned lol now i might be at risk of ohss so might need to to a freeze all then FET. Just waiting for them to let me know. Hopefully egg collection this week. How are you? @thislittlebird looks like we are in the same boat.

Juno231 · 02/08/2021 11:27

@PurpleUnicorn01 oh wow that developed quickly! How many eggies are brewing now then?

PurpleUnicorn01 · 02/08/2021 11:31

@Juno231 18 follicles! Its crazy isn't it lol some are still under the 10mm count. But anyone reading this. Its true things do suddenly start developing in the last few days. Don't be disheartened at the first scan. I started with 9.

thislittlebird · 02/08/2021 12:39

@PurpleUnicorn01 yeah, I won’t be starting until late September, but it’s a big concern of mine. We watched the consents modules last night from our clinic and the OHSS stuff is my biggest worry of all.

dogmam · 02/08/2021 15:54

@purpleunicorn01 ahh sounds like Fridays scan went well then! Do you know when you are triggering yet or are they just waiting for the little ones to maybe catch up? I was happy to have a freeze all as it's peace of mind that I have my two safe in the freezer and can switch off from it all slightly.

@thislittlebird what was your AFC again? Even before my treatment started, freeze all was mentioned to me because of my AFC but nothing set in stone, it wasn't until I had my scan after stimming for a week or so that it was confirmed I would have freeze all because of the risk. Yeah it's a shame you have to pay for it, if it's a necessity but I guess with private everything costs. Can you choose and pay to do a freeze all even if you don't need one?

OP posts:
thislittlebird · 02/08/2021 16:26

@dogmam yeah you can have an elective freeze all at a cost. At the moment I’m leaning towards just seeing what happens once it gets started, since it’s all very unpredictable. My last AFC was 23, one before was 28.

Mickymackyboobaaboo · 02/08/2021 19:41

Hi all

Been a bit quiet lately as we've been on holiday but I've just caught up with everyone's updates.

My DH had his sperm analysis today and had the results this afternoon. We were both surprised to be informed that he has a low sperm count (7 million per millilitre). I think we both assumed that if something was wrong it would be with me.

Not sure what we're going to do next. Possibly IUI but the success rate at my age is so low I'm not sure if I want to put myself through it. I'll be having day 21 bloods done in about 2 weeks but looks like we need to seriously consider our options going forward.

Tillybabs · 02/08/2021 20:25

@Mickymackyboobaaboo sorry to hear that. It's crazy that 7 million is deemed a low count.

How old is your OH? It's definitely not impossible but will just come down to whether you can afford to take the risk.

We are awaiting my OH SA results

thislittlebird · 02/08/2021 20:42

@Mickymackyboobaaboo we have MFI, but it’s not low count but low motility. What was his breakdown within that?

Mickymackyboobaaboo · 02/08/2021 20:47

@Tillybabs he's 40. The good news is that the motility and morphology were normal, which is something.

I read earlier that of an ejaculate of 80 million sperm only approximately 400 survive after trying to get through the vagina, cervix, hostile mucas, and heading to the wrong fallopian tube! I don't know how accurate that is but it sounds crazy.

Good luck for your OH's SA results.

Tillybabs · 02/08/2021 20:52

@Mickymackyboobaaboo yes it is a tiny percentage that actually make it after everything and yes it is crazy lol.

That's good about the motility etc. At least he has good quality sperm which they can work with.

Mickymackyboobaaboo · 02/08/2021 21:33

@thislittlebird we don't know. Sadly, we were in a restaurant when the phone call came so couldn't really hear everything properly. We've requested another call back to go through it again or the results in an email.

What route are you taking with your MFI?
