@clolo it’s great that they didn’t drop off after day 3, I definitely have The Fear about that. We can do two private “rounds” but I’m not quite sure what they mean by rounds. Full rounds with stimulation and egg collection and transfer? Or just transfer?

Did you just do the nhs one so far? I’m going to chase our appointment but I don’t expect them to be in a rush so thinking I’ll just give a private round a go. I’m frustrated that we can’t do anything until we’ve had two more appointments, one of which won’t be until the end of the month.

Narwhal88 · 04/07/2021 19:40

@Annny27 aww thank you, I really hope it means nothing and we get our miracle. I'm so angry for you that you have to wait till November. I really hope it happens for you before then.

@thislittlebird we have low count (2 million), low morphology (1-2%), motility was 12% first SA but then went up to normal range (40% I think). I think with a high count and low motility you should be absolutely fine with ICSI. It's so hard to tell what the drop off will be and will depend how many eggs you get as well.

thislittlebird · 04/07/2021 20:06

@Narwhal88 interesting how it went up so much. Sperm issues remain a mystery to me. I’m not expecting much from our next set of results at the end of the month, I just want to get the box ticked at this stage. Get the appointment done, it’s been dragging on for weeks and weeks. Really hoping he’ll have enough to get some decent ones out of the batch. I have high AMH so I’m hoping for a good few, who knows what their quality will be though Confused

@clolo so you could have as many transfers as you had embryos and they didn’t count that as more than two “rounds”? The embryos transfer cost is my concern. I have a relatively high AMH of 36 in Jan, then had my follicles counted last month and I had 23 (28 a previous time) so I am hoping I might get a few. But one round is probably £6-7k with only 1 embryo transfer included whereas 2 rounds (through Access) is £10,800 with unlimited embryo transfers. One of these options seems much better value to me when £7k could easily become £12k with only three embryos left even 🤷‍♀️

I wouldn’t go private if age was on my side, but I’m 38 and increasingly anxious. We have two appointments because one is the private urologist and the other is the private ivf clinic appointment to develop a plan of action. Then there’s our nhs referral which was delayed by six weeks due to a terrible gynaecologist, I had to challenger her diagnosis of us as ‘unexplained’ using the private letters, I submitted a formal complaint. Then our new GP (our old surgery told us our results were fine when they were not and we lost six months to that too) agreed we should be referred and referred us last week and I chased that today.

polejunkie · 04/07/2021 20:40

@clolo and @thislittlebird I assume a round is egg collection primarily (plus transfers obvs) with egg collection being the expensive bit. We were given funding for 3 rounds, a fresh and two frozen, however as we had nothing to freeze I believe we’re now out of NHS help and anything else would have to be private? Haven’t spoken to anyone yet but that’s my understanding. If you have loads of eggs then this is great but with low AMH and reserves we unfortunately would now have to start again, do egg collection etc. to have another go 😣 I hope this one sticks🤞🏼 x

@polejunkie weird that they count frozen as a round in your case. That’s my concern, that a frozen transfer will be classed as a round. But it makes sense that the egg collection is the expensive part and one of the rounds. Fingers crossed your one sticks, it’s all so expensive and stressful if you need multiple goes.

@clolo I’m hoping my CCG has the same definition as yours. Maybe I can email them to find out.

With the unlimited transfers I feel like there’s a good chance we’d get 2 or 3 leftover with my egg reserve so it seems like it makes sense to just get the two round package. Sure, if it works first time you lose out, but you get a baby in return so it’s not that bad. Otherwise you get to use up your embryos without incurring costs of £1,500 + each transfer.

Very similar numbers! How old are you btw? I’m wondering if my eggs might be poor quality because I’m older but I’m hoping not too bad.

We initially had our tests last July/August but because they told us the results were fine we didn’t pursue a referral or more tests. Then in December I asked for them in writing because still no luck and they were not fine. Defective luteal phase was written on my results and my husband had very low motility. I felt so stupid and angry for believing them when they said they were fine, and now here we are a year later with a referral only just done.

I'm so sorry to hear this @thislittlebird I really do empathise. So after OH terrible DNA frag results he is looking at going private to investigate whether he has a vaicocele or not. If so he will get it repaired. He has normal SA results though. My follicle count on Wednesday was 7 and I'm 35 they also found 2 fibroids in my uterine wall but hysteroscopy showed my uterine cavity is clear so they're assuming fibroids won't impact our chances but clinoc has now asked for AMH test so we are managing our expectations as to whether we will be able to have biological children but we are going to try but I am so cross with NHS! They lied, delayed, ignored sent us on a run around. When we both walked in for appointment in June 2019 first things we said to them was I had family history of early menopause and OH has history of testicular pain and we were dismissed! Fortunately this CCG is much better but still sent us on a run around with this AMH. Now we are in a situation where we may have run out of time!

crazycatlady1981 · 05/07/2021 07:23

Thanks for all the love yesterday ladies! 😊

Those who’ve had a transfer before, do you usually have a scan before/during transfer?
I thought the idea of having a semi-full bladder was for a scan, but the nurse just went straight on in with the speculum and catheter, no scan 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Narwhal88 ooh I hadn’t heard of PASP before! I’m definitely that!! 😬 Good luck with your wait this week! I have feeling the next 2 weeks are gona be long and anxious!!

@Sjhigs glad all went well yesterday and you’re on board the PASP train too! 😀

@Sunbird24 is it your transfer today? If so, wishing you lots of luck for it!🤞🏻

@thislittlebird you should be able to find the CCG stuff online, mine was. Or phone the GP and ask for it. I’m only allowed one round on NHS, but that includes one fresh transfer and one frozen transfer (if I get any frozen embryos) so if you’ve got 3 rounds, I’d definitely look up what that equates to.

crazycatlady1981 · 05/07/2021 07:30

@MIW01 don’t lose hope, you still have plenty of chance for ivf with a follicle count of 7. Mine was only 10. I think they always ask for AMH test before ivf, it seems quite standard. If you are worried about the wait for the test, just get your AMH done with a postal test, they are super quick!

Sjhigs · 05/07/2021 07:36

@crazycatlady1981 I didn't have a scan only the probe scan to push bladder

@MIW01 my follicle count was 6 I had my transfer yesterday and waiting for news on how the other is doing today try not let numbers take over very few people I've heard of get more than one to transfer xx

Sjhigs · 05/07/2021 07:38

Girls remind me who All is in transfer 2ww at the moment how's everyone feeling is anyone feeling anything x

thislittlebird · 05/07/2021 07:47

@clolo yeah, that’s basically what my doctor said to me too. That we got second and third opinions privately and other people wouldn’t do that and get screwed over. I have not been offered progesterone at all, which is frustrating tbh. I feel that I should have been offered clomid too. But I’m hoping we can start ivf sooner rather than later, got to speak to these private docs when we’re back from our holiday.

@MIW01 fingers crossed private helps figure out what’s going on and good that he’d get it repaired. I think we’d get my DH’s small varicocele repaired if our first round had bad fertilisation and development. At least that’s the plan in my mind.

So you haven’t had an AMH test? That seems crazy to me when you’ve got this far with your history. My mother claims to have had an early menopause and my periods have gone haywire the last year (light, short, more cycle variation and I’m hoping it’s stress). But again, no one was interested even when I told them, because my AMH was high.

I really do empathise, I’m also angry with them, and it’s horrible when you get lumped with an nhs CCG or surgery or specialist that’s poor. We’ve had the bad surgery, then the bad gynaecologist and only now do we have a decent GP helping us. I don’t actually trust we’ll even get a private round if I’m honest. They seem thoroughly unbothered by my possible lack of ovulation, for example. My AMH seems to make them think it’s all ok! We’ll push ahead with private and I’m planning a couple of rounds with the Lister before trying mild IVF with Create if that doesn’t work.

@crazycatlady1981 I’ve read the CCG stuff but they don’t seem to define what they mean by round. I get one like you but they say I’m allowed two private before I void the nhs one, and that’s the part I’m interested in since I’m likely to start private soon.

Sunbird24 · 05/07/2021 08:04

@crazycatlady1981, yes 11am today! I have pineapple and Brazil nuts on standby, and will be visiting those Golden Arches on the way home, although implantation doesn’t seem to be z as n issue for me, it’s getting to 8 weeks that’s the problem. Still, I have progesterone and aspirin so 🤞 it’s third time lucky…
Mine don’t do a scan for transfer, they use measurements they took during EC to get them in the right place.

Sjhigs · 05/07/2021 08:15

@Sunbird24 good luck xx

thislittlebird · 05/07/2021 08:22

@Sunbird24 good luck!

crazycatlady1981 · 05/07/2021 08:38

@Sjhigs @Sunbird24 ah thanks, that’s good to know about the measurement thing, I guess that’s what she did! 🤞🏻

I’m feeling anxious today but mainly because I have to take my cat to the vet because she’s limping! 🙄 so much for staying stress free during the tww!!

Sjhigs · 05/07/2021 08:56

@crazycatlady1981 aww hope the cat is OK I'm just feeling so thirsty today was maybe the mcdonalds chips yesterday all the salt 😂 x

crazycatlady1981 · 05/07/2021 09:21

@Sjhigs thanks! 🤞🏻 Last time I took a cat to the vets with a limp, he came back with only 3 legs!! Hoping that doesn’t happen this time, she’s a bit chubby and she definitely wouldn’t cope with less legs!! 😕 I think her weight is part of the problem!!
We didn’t get to a McDonald’s but had halloumi, olives and salted Pringles instead!! 😬 yeah I’ve got to remember to drink lots, I was so good about it during my meds and I’ve slightly lost my momentum since EC!!

Annny27 · 05/07/2021 09:34

@narwhal88 yes it is very frustrating to be past the 2 year mark now and still having to "wait" 🙄🙄

But hopefully this waiting period will give me patience haha

How are you feeling today?

I am 7dpo today and getting my progesterone checked today - it was fine last time so hopefully will be the same again :)

Good luck to those have transfers and to those who are PUPO!

MIW01 · 05/07/2021 09:37

Thank you @Sjhigs @crazycatlady1981 for your reassurance and support. That is good to know about your follicle counts. BTW I have everything crossed for you both for the transfer sticking! I am following along to keep updated what's going on 😊

@thislittlebird I know, it's madness! How comes you don't think you'll get the private round? I was sent for AMH back in Feb but the hospital wrote to the GP to inform her she didn't have funding approved to do AMH test. Madness! I know quality is more important so I've been doing a lot to improve lifestyle for us both as mentioned before and I've just bought It Starts With the Egg and so far nothing revolutionary! OH has an appointment on Wednesday about suspected varicocele - he had 7% high damage and was outside fertile range for all parameters so I think we'd be better off getting that looked at but have to admit I am worried that they will tell us he doesn't have a varicocele and then we've really got nowhere else to go with him! I do get frustrated with the Alternative Healthcare Professionals because they get all excited telling you, it's OK, you can fix it by making all these lifestyle changes. Then we find out we've been doing those things anyway for years! I'm just upping our game with it as much as we can in hope it makes some difference. OH said to me yesterday he is really angry and upset with everything atm and I feel the same and I don't think that helps us help each other. We both tend to withdraw inwards in these situations naturally it's difficult for us to express emotions and I don't think that helps!

Sjhigs · 05/07/2021 09:51

@MIW01 I'm trying to stay off here a bit so not getting everyone's stories 🙈 just the tail end of some of them lol x

becarefuloutthere · 05/07/2021 10:17

@Sunbird24 best of luck for this morning hun!
@crazycatlady1981 ah your poor cat, I hope she's ok x
@Annny27 good luck with the progesterone check today!

Nothing to report with me apart from knackered and nauseous. Midwife booking in appointment on Thursday.
