TTC 4th baby at 39

Hi girls,

I am so frustrated. I’ve been trying to conceive my fourth since feb. All 28-35 day cycles and no joy: this last cycle has been 45 days so far with me ovulating on cd32. Pregnancy test is negative today 😭 the doctor is not interested but has said he will test to see if I’m peri menopausal. I conceived first month with my other three. This is a new partner but he has a child so I don’t get what the problem is. Sorry I just needed to rant to someone who may understand x

Can I please join? I'm 41 and we're about to start ttc #4. Our others are 6.5, almost 4 and 2. I don't want to leave a big gap to the youngest but less than 2 years between DS2 and DS3 was so exhausting, it's taken a while to feel ready to add another! I'm nervous about other people's reactions if I do get pregnant again but also anxious that it might not happen (have had 5 previous miscarriages between my first two children). I was so happy to find this thread. Everyone I now seems to have 2 and be happy, I just always wanted 4 and so did my OH, even before we met. I know lots of people who will disapprove though.

I also wonder about people's reactions, especially my parents!! I've never told anyone I wanted 4, and even told everyone just after my third that I was done and dusted so if it does happen, it will be a big shock lol

Sex week is more like 'no sex week', DP has injured his back and I've got a sticking cold (Covid neg) so we have only had sex once yesterday and I've not peaked on opk yet 🙄

Do you guys use an ap for the opks, where you upload the pictures and it tells you if its positive? I used one previously but cant remember the name

@Monicatatie are you going to use opk’s this month? My period isn’t here yet but it’s been irregular the past few months so if it’s not here by Saturday then I will test. Feel like I’m out though as I’ve got the cramps.

Hey all, just a quick update for me. 3 day bloods done and 9.6 FSH, 7.3 LH which is apparently 'fair'...could be worse I suppose but can'thelp be disappointed that I don't have the ovaries of a 20 year old. Dp taking his swimmers in next week. Having a 1 month break and getting straight back on it next month, due to ovulate next week on Friday so hoping I can resist the urge for a cheeky 'non protection' tumble in the sheets!

@jellybean55 I can totally get where you're coming from, I feel your pain! Hope the holiday doesn't leave you feeling like you need a holiday!

I'm in a very similar position. Been trying for about a year now with no luck.

I have been having issues with my periods since I had a late period in March where I really thought we had been successful.

I have one cycle left before we give up so I'm really feeling it this month.

I hope that this month ends up being the magical month for you 💖

Oh no @jellybean55 what a pity about the weather! Hopefully the next few days will be drier and sunnier for you. What a naughty boy at the soft play 🙄 my blood would have boiled if I were in your position. No periods seems very promising 🤞 and cramps dont mean anything, could also be a good sign. Maybe this is it! I really hope so 😊 how many days late are you? I did use opks after all lol, I think I might be a bit bored that's why. I took a few over the past few days but dont know what to make of them 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

I think that's the one I used last time I was ttc. Sorry you're feeling disappointed about the test results but as long as it's within the normal range it's good, right? When are you starting your new job?

Hi @Want2bMumof3 so sorry to hear about your struggles conceiving a new baby. Must be really hard, I hope you're ok and that this month will be the one for you 🤞 . Did you have investigations done regarding your periods, to see what's going on?

Hi girls. Had an early scan today and by my reckoning I’m 7 weeks today. They could only see a tiny yolk sack and a feral pole at 5w 6 days so I don’t think this pregnancy is viable. All I’ve done is cry x

#2 is 1 and periods haven’t returned
Plus I’m 40 soon so we want a small gap but I’m not sure what to do I still breastfeed but only once a bedtime maybe that feed needs to go?

I had bloods and scan and all looked ok but wondering what else I could do ?

I'm so sorry @Hopetobeamumof4 could you maybe get a second opinion, or maybe it is a bit too early? Have you talked to your midwife to see what she thinks? I'm so sorry, it must be so hard. Maybe there's still hope xx

I have only spoke to the scan lady. I will just wait for the 10 days and hope and pray for the best. Ive not put a foot wrong, not had alcohol or even missed a vitamin. It’s wait and see which I hate and have no patience x

Have sex earlier in the cycle than you think you need to and combine it with the sperm meets egg plan. Only thing that worked for me. I had both my children over 35 and partner in late 40s/early 50s. Took us almost a year first time, six months the second time.

@Hopetobeamumof4 Oh no, I’m so sorry to read this. That’s exactly what happened to me & I had to wait another 2 weeks for another scan & it’s just awful having to wait & not knowing, my thoughts & love go out to you ❤️ Is there any way you could of got your dates wrong? I have everything crossed for you, I’m so sorry you are going through this xx

We’ve just got back home & my period has arrived 😭 I’ve just had a cry. My son was asking all the way home if he can have a baby brother or sister & I feel so down, want thud so much but I’m not getting younger, I’m 42 in a few months and I’m having doubts now because of my age. At what point is it too old? Sorry to sound so depressing must be the bloody period hormones 🙈 xx

Me I don’t think I got my dates wrong, I’m holding on to hope right now. What was the outcome for you when you went back after two weeks? X

3 DPO for me today, I'm on holiday so have lots to do to distract me from testing.

I'm so sorry to read that you got AF @jellybean55, I hate it too. But.... just look at it as being CD1 and me day closer to having lots of sex to make a baby! 😂🥰
