@Marvellouslymadmum it sounds like your body is trying and hopefully it won’t be two long. Last cycle o was day 36 for me. I conceived and it was a chemical. I do worry about egg quality late in the cycle. My GP has said she doesn’t think late ovulation causes miscarriage. I’m hoping I can give Clomid a try though to see if a normal cycle makes a difference. My ds was conceived on day 33 so late O can work out well.

I’m not sure how a med diet could be adapted. I guess lots of nuts and seeds. I have chia seeds on my oats in the morning with lots of berry’s for the antioxidants. Also I snack on hazelnuts. I really wish I’d started it sooner. I’ve not lost weight yet but feeling much better. Xx

Marvellouslymadmum · 03/06/2021 17:49

@Catconfusion it's just frustrating isn't it when you don't know what's going on and when you're going to ovulate or get af! My last mc was a late ovulation month as well 🤔 I'm wondering if clomid would be good for me too as it brings on the ovulation

Catconfusion · 03/06/2021 19:10

@Marvellouslymadmum it’s definitely worth asking about Clomid. Interesting that you had a loss with a late cycle. I’ve had two separate doctors say it doesn’t matter but they were GPs. It’ll be interesting to see what a fertility doctor says about it.

So I had a panic today. I got some ewcm, even though O seemed to be a week ago. I had a strong peak opk and my temp went up and measured high for the four days I measured it last week. I stopped after that. I did an opk today and it was negative so hopefully that’s a good sign. Hpt was negative but obviously it’s way too early. I’ve got my fingers crossed it’s an early pregnancy symptom and not a sign that I didn’t ovulate and I’m now gearing up. I’m going to do my temperature tomorrow to see if it’s still up. It’s so confusing and upsetting having long cycles. I just wish I was normal. I had my blood test and swobs today for the fertility referral today so I’m hoping it goes through quickly. Xx

Marvellouslymadmum · 03/06/2021 20:25

@Catconfusion yes it would definitely be good to see what they say!

I've had that before with the ewcm - so annoying when the body tricks you. 🤞🏻 for a quick referral for you though!

Geriatric1234 · 03/06/2021 20:32

@Marvellouslymadmum Well, we shall plod along and see what the progesterone result is! I’ll let the universe decide!

Have you had progesterone tested yet? X

@Catconfusion gawd that sounds impossible. Long cycles just sound so stressful. Hope you get some insights soon. X

PinkGinFizz1978 · 03/06/2021 20:50

Hi everyone....can I join??
Am 43 trying to conceive baby 5 (1st with new partner who has 2 kids) Stopped pill just over a year ago and finally had 1st period last month. Been trying for a year....
Have been using ovulation sticks for the past few days as have no idea how long my cycle is..
🤞🤞 for us all. Had no idea how emotional this would be so looking for others in the same situation x

Geriatric1234 · 03/06/2021 20:54

@PinkGinFizz1978 You are in the right place! Hello!

Just to clarify - it’s taken you a year to get a period? Have you had any tests at all? Xx

Marvellouslymadmum · 03/06/2021 20:58

@Geriatric1234 yes I had one back in February on the only month I've ever had sore boobs! They were crazy sore and I felt ovulations pains really strongly and my progesterone was 64 so was a good month I'm pretty sure it's not like that the rest of the time though!

Hi @PinkGinFizz1978 welcome, sounds a nightmare having no cycle for a year! We are ttc no1 together too but have two each separately. And I'm 42 it's very emotional, we've been ttc for just over 3 years now 🤞🏻 for a speedy bfp for you

PinkGinFizz1978 · 03/06/2021 21:00

@Geriatric1234 thanks for the reply 😀
Yes took a year to have a period. Have been on the pill since I was 16 (bar having my 4 children) so just thought that after that amount of time it was just slow in coming back.
Think am scared of the words.....peri menopause 😱 and don’t know whether just to keep trying or go to docs for tests. Least the way it is I have a wee bit of hope x

ChilliHeelersvisor · 03/06/2021 21:04

Hi All,

Can I join? I'm 40 in a month & ttc number 2. I'm already taking 5mg folic acid & will start on baby aspirin when the time comes.
I've been using OPKs again & I got an almost-positive at the weekend before they faded to nothing again- I'm guessing I'm in the 2ww?

I'll try & catch up on the thread now!

ChilliHeelersvisor · 03/06/2021 21:05

Meant to add- had two MCs before DC1 hence the folic acid & aspirin!

PinkGinFizz1978 · 03/06/2021 21:05

@Marvellouslymadmum
Hello thanks for the welcome 😀
3 years TTC must be so hard 😢 how old are your children?
I feel a year has been so long....
I know it’s been awful not knowing If my period would come back at all. We have changed our diets, vitamins, exercise, less stress so 🤞🤞🤞something works!!!
🤞🤞 for you as well.

Geriatric1234 · 03/06/2021 21:10

@PinkGinFizz1978 Yes we all fear those words! 😬 At 43 and after 4 children you have lots of reasons to be hopeful! I’m 42 (43 in August! 1978 is an excellent vintage!) and ttc #1. My DH has 2 already and is 49. I figured I’d get some tests just to make sure there wasn’t something that could be easily fixed as many age-related fertility issues have quite simple remedies. I had thyroid, vit d and AMH tested along with a scan to check follicle count.

But at our age it’s just an egg lottery... I’d recommend the book “it’s starts with the egg” and getting on some good supplements now as it takes about 3 months for an egg to mature. So it’s worth giving it a good year of trying and not getting too blue on months it doesn’t happen. We are all waiting for one good egg. :-)

Geriatric1234 · 03/06/2021 21:11

Hi @ChilliHeelersvisor! What CD are you? X

Geriatric1234 · 03/06/2021 21:13

For all newbies this is the second thread - here’s a link to the first TTC over 40 thread - loads of great info in there!

PinkGinFizz1978 · 03/06/2021 21:18

@Geriatric1234 Love that... we are all waiting for one good egg 😍 it’s so true it’s all it takes!!!! Well and one good sperm too 😂😂
1978 was indeed an excellent year 🤣🤣
I will look up that book you recommended.
X

ChilliHeelersvisor · 03/06/2021 21:37

@Geriatric1234

Hi *@ChilliHeelersvisor*! What CD are you? X
I think I'm 5dpo & I'm on CD 32 because my cycles are crazy. I've got loads of cheapies I'm desperate to start peeing on & a drawer of FRER & ClearBlue digis. 🙈 I promised myself I wouldn't get obsessed this time but I've caught the bus into crazy town already Sad
Marvellouslymadmum · 03/06/2021 22:11

@PinkGinFizz1978 it's been tough but I'm literally throwing everything I possibly can at it now! My children are 15&16 and my partners two are 13@14 lol hopefully you'll carry on having normal cycles now!

@ChilliHeelersvisor hi and welcome, I've been seeing a lot of people talking about baby aspirin recently I'm going to have to have a look into it as I've had two mc and two cp also 🤔

Littlemiss40andfabulous · 04/06/2021 06:56

@ChilliHeelersvisor and @PinkGinFizz1978 welcome to the group. I hope it's not too long until you get your BFPs.

@Honey2 thinking of you today as you have your scan. I really hope you have a nice surprise but if you don't, definitely enjoy that wine later on.

Geriatric1234 · 04/06/2021 07:19

@Littlemiss40andfabulous How are you doing? Xx

@Honey2 All things crossed today for your scan. Xx

@ChilliHeelersvisor and @Marvellouslymadmum remind me what the aspirin is for? I have seen it mentioned a few times but haven’t properly engaged with it.

Geriatric1234 · 04/06/2021 07:26

@ChilliHeelersvisor I’m OBSESSED with OPKs! 🤣 I’m not an early pregnancy tester (I force myself to wait for AF to be late) but I start peeing on OPKs the second I can!! 🤣 Why is it so fun to POAS?!? Which ones are you using? I use CB digital for FMU but boots own brand as a back up in afternoon.

You say you thought you got a positive on CD 27 (that’s me doing maths so if it’s wrong sorry!🤣). What is you average cycle length? How are they crazy?

I found having my vaccine shortened the cycle by about 5 days that month. Xx

Geriatric1234 · 04/06/2021 07:28

@kalidasa How are you and how is your dad? X

Catconfusion · 04/06/2021 07:43

@Honey2 thinking of you today and hoping you get a shock and all is ok. If not do what feels best for self care: wine, chocolate, whatever it takes to take the edge off.

Welcome @PinkGinFizz1978 and @ChilliHeelersvisor

Thanks @Marvellouslymadmum we have the SA to get done now. Last time there was a wait. DH got a very impressive result two years ago so hopefully not much has changed. I took my temp this morning and it’s still up so definitely o’ed. I estimate I’m 8 dpo so will test over the weekend so I can start up the progesterone and aspirin if it’s a bfp.

@Geriatric1234 I get what you mean about the possibility obsession. I’m worse with hpts as soon as I get to 9dpo. We’ve only had one cycle where we’ve tracked and monitored everything and I’ve not got a bfp so I need to get used to disappointment as we’ve been lucky so far, well apart from losing 4 of them.

Honey2 · 04/06/2021 08:12

@Littlemiss40andfabulous @Geriatric1234 @Catconfusion thanks for your best wishes. There is a tiny part inside me that is hopeful, but I’m prepared for the worst.

I’ll let you all know xx

Honey2 · 04/06/2021 13:17

Hi ladies @Geriatric1234*@Littlemiss40andfabulous @Catconfusion*

So I’m back from the scan and still in limbo. There was a GS with a yolk sac but the pregnancy was only measuring 5+4 weeks and I am 6+3 today by my ovulation date (which I am 99% certain of as I temp). Of course the midwife was totally on the fence and said she couldn’t say either way if preg was going to be viable. I have to go back in 2 weeks if there is no fetus and HB by then they can confirm a loss.

It sounds really silly but I am not sure if I am happy or sad. I think the honest reality is this is not a viable pregnancy. It’s clearly not developing at the normal rate and I’ve read enough mums net stories to see how this ends in 95% of cases. However I was honestly expecting to go today and be told there wasn’t even a yolk sac - so now I have this tiny bit of hope and that is going to make the next 2 weeks so hard. I can’t even have my bloody glass of wine!! I hate being so unable to control the situation, at least TTC you can chart and pee on sticks. I just have to sit and wait ☹️
