Tracking your cycle and possible BFP using RHR - part 6

Hi ladies,

This is for all of us with heart rate monitors who wish to help each other analyse the RHR patterns throughout our cycles.

Early research shows there's a correlation with increasing RHR and BFPs - so let's try and spot some together!

@mumof23188 Tbf I didn’t think I was at all, was very confusing so glad it’s sorted and kinda nice to know I can have a month now of abusing my body to hopefully get started on with IVF 🤞🏻

EveryMumDay · 12/06/2021 15:05

Sorry ladies, could I ask you if it's normal to get a dip in rhr during peak in ovulation? My rhr has been dipping ever since CD 5 and today CD 15 got my peak fmu. After this, should it always increase and stay above peak ovulation? Thank you Smile

justwant2beamum · 13/06/2021 10:17

Well after my rhr last month tricking me by going highest it ever has since my BFP and following exact same pattern as my BFP month, this month it appears to be doing nothing. Should be 8dpo based on opks and I did get a fairly dark OPK that I think was a peak but from rhr I think I maybe didn't even ovulate. So will be another month Bfn, again.

@justwant2beamum what CD are you? My last cycle I thought I hadn't ovulated, it went a bit dark but never peaked, then went light again. I kept testing and suddenly got a peak at the end of CD19. Maybe you're just having a long cycle?

Juno231 · 14/06/2021 09:58

@EveryMumDay so it's normal for RHR to be at it's lowest during the follicular phase. It then goes up either for ovulation or after ovulation (depending on the lady) and stays high in the LP. It usually drops for AF so you get a bit of a heads up. It seems to stay high/go even higher for BFPs but sometimes it's just messing with you Grin

@ls2020 sorry AF showed in the end! let us know when the IVF shenanigans start. Any idea if they're putting you on long or short protocol?

@justwant2beamum I agree with @GlassLily - you might just ovulate late this cycle so carry on BD

Hm I'm cd25 now I've never had a longer cycle before but I didn't keep testing with opks and I didn't keep DTD. Oh well

EveryMumDay · 14/06/2021 11:19

Thank you ladies. Wasn't expecting peak at CD 15 (Saturday 12 June), as it always come around CD 12. Rhr did increase by 1 yesterday (Sunday 13 June).

Definitely agree, the rhr does mess with me a lot that it drives me mad Grin

GlassLily · 15/06/2021 11:02

Ladies, I've been looking back through old threads but we've been chatting on for such a long time now I can't find what I'm looking for! Does anyone remember what week of pregnancy your rhr starts to drop? I know there have been a million posts but I can't remember now 🤦‍♀️

Juno231 · 15/06/2021 11:16

@GlassLily seemed to be week 7 for most of the ladies on here but I think we had the odd drops in week 6 as well? I know the placenta kicks into existence in week 8 so I'd expect a drop then too.

OP posts:
GlassLily · 15/06/2021 11:22

@Juno231 thanks! I am mid week 6 so need to bear it in mind... I thought it was 7 weeks but then that sounds really early, too early for the placenta. But I guess the first drop is just your body getting used to it

mumof23188 · 15/06/2021 20:23

@LS2020 yes you enjoy abusing your body! When’s your first appointment? Hope you are doing well xx

@GlassLily yes around week 6ish I had low HR.

I’m ill with a chest infection and my HR is a lot higher. Hope everyone is well xxx

LS2020 · 15/06/2021 21:45

@Juno231 you too! No clue, we don’t have any issues and cycles are regular so think will be short. Want to try get done it shortest possible timeframe! Just waiting around for appointment. Having to stop myself from ringing and asking.

@mumof23188 not sure yet, have to wait for a letter for nurse now I think! Take care of yourself lovely and hope you feel better xx

mumof23188 · 15/06/2021 21:59

@LS2020 bless you, I bet that wait feels like torture. Hopefully that letter drops for you ASAP. Thank you so much ☺️. Got antibiotics so hopefully it will bugger off soon. Xx

LS2020 · 17/06/2021 09:12

@mumof23188 got my call this morning. Nurses appointment in for 2nd July. Next AF is due on 7th so not sure if it’ll be too short a time frame to get organised but most of dr. Google says it just starts on the day of your next period so who knows, could be less than a month now!

LS2020 · 17/06/2021 09:13

Also hope you’re feeling better xx

mumof23188 · 17/06/2021 22:17

@LS2020 wow that’s amazing. I’m so glad you got the call and things can get moving for you. Not to long to wait either ☺️. Over the moon for you. I’m feeling a bit better now thank you, it’s not as painful now and I can breathe 🤣.

GlassLily · 17/06/2021 23:04

That's so exciting @LS2020, hope it all happens nice and quickly for you! 🤞🏻

Just an update that my rhr is dropping, but I am not going to worry because I'm 7 weeks and that seems to happen to everyone! But I won't say no to some reassurance from anyone who had the same thing Grin

Alicespring · 17/06/2021 23:06

@GlassLily

Same thing happened to me 😊 I'm 35 weeks now and all is well!

GlassLily · 17/06/2021 23:18

Thank you @Alicespring! I've also just found the thread from January with two ladies on here having big drops and then lovely scans where everything was perfect ☺️

Kona84 · 17/06/2021 23:33

That drop at the end of feb was weeks 6-8 for me.
You can see that it started rising again but was very up and down from March onwards
22+5 now

GlassLily · 18/06/2021 12:50

Thanks @kona84! I'm definitely just going to not worry about the drop Smile

mumof23188 · 18/06/2021 13:00

@GlassLily yes definitely don’t worry about the drop. I know it’s easier said than done. Mine has been all over the place!

Juno231 · 18/06/2021 13:18

@GlassLily I'm glad you managed to get some reassurance from all these lovely ladies!

@ls2020 that's so good it's all getting ready to go soon! I had my fertility app yesterday and it was a bit rubbish. It was just a general update and she seemed to think I was nowhere near IVF stage yet cause she hadn't checked my notes. When she realised I was eligible for IVF as of next month she just went "oh, maybe I should refer you for funding assessment then" and banged on for a while about how invasive IVF is - which was rich considering this is the same doc who had me do a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy in April! Anyways the ball is rolling but she seemed to think just receiving the funding paperwork could take up to a month and then the IVF pathway is 18 weeks at this hospital - but potentially longer due to covid. So end of the year maybe? We'll see.

I'm currently 7DPO and at 5DPO my RHR was steadily rising and had reached 74bpm - today it's down to 69bpm so a big drop! Let;s hope it means something for once and that it starts going back up as of tomorrow...

LS2020 · 18/06/2021 17:31

@mumof23188 glad to hear you can breathe now 😂 my only issue is AF would be due on the 7th so it’s probably going to be my august cycle and that feels ageeess away!

Thanks @GlassLily and yes everyone has that drop, it’s as the placenta develops which I think others have said!

@Juno231 ugh, mine was a bit like that he was like ‘so what can I do for you’ and we were like we don’t know you’re the ones who put this appointment in with us?! He wasn’t too bad but he was like oh it’s a tough process etc and I was like yeah I don’t like x and he’d say oh that’s not even the tough bit! But then never elaborated what the tough bit was?!
I’m sure the fundings is part of the pathway?! I’m worried as not heard anything on funding but the consultant took us through the nhs rules on costs etc. We’re going to be sent some forms to do before the nurses appointment so maybe it’s on that.
