@Juno231 my DH found an ovulation stick too. He has no idea how my cycles run bless. I'm pretty sure he was initiating sex to try to get me preggers last cycle when my period was due the next day. I didn't say no 😏

Yutes · 15/06/2021 15:15

Thanks lovely @notyetamumbuttrying
Doing ok. In another TWW. But got a hycosy booked for next month. So just need to see what awaits us.
Over the moon for you!

CycleGirl20 · 15/06/2021 15:16

@notyetamumbuttrying I'm good thanks yes. Wondering when I might ovulate on my letrozole. Scan is booked for Friday. I usually ovulate on Cd17 and the doctor was hoping it would being my ovulation earlier (and ensure it happens). I have 17 day follicular and 9-12 day luteal and frequent faint positives, then AF 12 hours later 🤔

notyetamumbuttrying · 15/06/2021 15:30

@Yutes ah that's good then! Hope all goes well, thank you 😊
@CycleGirl20 glad you're good! Good luck for Friday! Oh right, sounds like implantation happens but doesn't stick then. Hopefully the drugs can help you ♥️

OMG @notyetamumbuttrying congratulations! I am so SO happy for you! Praying it's a sticky bean WOOHOOO! 🎁🎂🥳🎈🥰

@kerrym87 I hope the recent news brings you a top closer on your ttc journey. Congratulations on the job.

@CycleGirl20 & @thislittlebird I think I mentioned my OH SA results. He has 4% morphology, 40 mil count so borderline. My acupuncturist suggested he have a comet test as we're unexplained and he has some symptoms of a varicocele and that will check for DNA fragmentation. He's got the test booked on Monday. So we'll see what happens. My acupuncturist used to be a midwife and she said there's absolutely no point going for IVF if the sperm DNA is no good so we figured we may as well pay the £395 for the test before we start our treatment.

Some good news for us is our funding has been approved and our IVF referral now sent. We're with the South downs clinic

CycleGirl20 · 16/06/2021 11:42

@MIW01 oh that's interesting. What would happen if his DNA fragmentation was bad? Would that mean no IVF at all or just icsi?

MIW01 · 16/06/2021 12:01

I'm not 100% @CycleGirl20 but I thinknif it is fragmented it suggests he does have a varicocele and we'd either go down the road of corrective surgery for him or extract from the source, as it were. I'll get him to ask the clinic. I guess if it's irreparable then we'd have to look at a sperm donor! I will keep you updated as we go.

thislittlebird · 16/06/2021 12:52

@MIW01 @CycleGirl20 we’re waiting for our DNA frag results right now. There’s no other option than ICSI as far as I’m aware, but the key thing will be trying to improve the fragmentation before going ahead I suppose. We’ve seen Mr Ramsay and will be going back to see what he recommends in the coming weeks. I’m really hoping it’s not too bad because I don’t want to keep waiting and waiting for his SA to improve, but might have to.

I’m hoping that because my DH has a high count that he’ll still have a percentage of decent ones that will do the job. I dunno, it’s a lot to think about, and that’s before we even get to the possibility of having to fund private varicocele surgery if that’s recommended Hmm

thislittlebird · 16/06/2021 12:53

and yes, as @MIW01 said, surgical sperm retrieval might be an option, not sure yet.

thislittlebird · 16/06/2021 12:55

I should say ICSI + IMSI. But IMSI is for morphology and our issue is motility/general quality.

MIW01 · 16/06/2021 13:23

Sorry to hear that @thislittlebird tbh I'm not sure about keep playing the waiting game as there's no guarantee . . . My OH is for as a fiddle and d generally makes very healthy lifestyle choices. We have both come to the conclusion that our lifestyle isn't the issue here, especially when there's plenty of very unsavoury characters, shall I say, have no issues at all! I jist read an article about how stress as a factor of infertility is a myth otherwise our species would never have survived! So after all this time, spending a lot of time and money on improving our lifestyle, we've decided to jist accept as we are here and now and 0lay the cards we're dealt, as it were.

CycleGirl20 · 16/06/2021 13:42

Thanks @thislittlebird. What's IMSI? I've never heard of that before! My DH defo has some room for improvement. The urologist thought he might have had some damage on one side down there from an accident as a child. It's hard convincing him that he should drink less and stop "socially" smoking as now he thinks his lower morphology and modest count and motility is caused by what the urologist said and outside of his control. I'm not sure what the impact of those kind of lifestyle changes would be.

MIW01 · 16/06/2021 15:11

@CycleGirl20 emwithout a doubt quitting smoking and drinking will make a big difference. Men have much more control over Sperm health than women do with their reproductive health

Aimzie · 16/06/2021 15:30

OH MY FN GOD @notyetamumbuttrying I can't even explain how happy I am for you, what beautiful lines ❤️❤️❤️❤️ wishing you so much health and happiness, enjoy every moment you really deserve this x

thislittlebird · 16/06/2021 16:03

@MIW01 yeah I’m not sure either and honestly I’m hoping they say just go for it because he doesn’t have the worst numbers. To our advantage should be my decent egg reserve (I had 23 follicles yesterday at my hycosy and they flushed out a blockage which was a bonus), as long as they’re decent quality when they’re collected.

Similar to you, our lifestyle isn’t bad, he doesn’t drink much and never smoked. He does have a few pounds to lose but not loads and hopefully he can do that now he’s changed jobs. He was working nights and days alternating before, I’ve always wondered if the night work didn’t help, but he’s done with nights now which is great.

@CycleGirl20 IMSI is like another version of ICSI where they zoom in on the sperm to select based on shape. I don’t know much more about it though. But yeah, as MW said, stopping smoking etc would likely help.

(I’m not ignoring @becarefuloutthere btw, I congratulated her on another thread lol)

Crazydoglady123 · 16/06/2021 19:09

@Crazydoglady123 I started stims today! Finally got my head around the ovaleap pen! Yay! Only 4 more days then move on to menopur! Hope you are doing well! How long til the next scan?

Crazydoglady123 · 16/06/2021 19:43

@crazycatlady1981 yay! So happy you've started! I remember very well how scary that pen was the first time I used it 🤣 I've learnt now how to do my bum injections in the mirror one handed as OH was away fishing the other night I needed it 🙄 Whens your first stims scan? My 12 week is booked 12th July. We've arranged a photoshoot the same evening where we'll reveal to my son he's finally going to be a big brother and the photographer can capture his reaction 🥰

becarefuloutthere · 16/06/2021 20:28

@MIW01 thank you so much 😊

@Crazydoglady123 thank you gorgeous, hope you're keeping well still?! X
@crazycatlady1981 great stuff! I was on menopur. Do you get another scan before you start it?
@Crazydoglady123 omg that photography session sounds so incredibly adorable 🥰 12th July is my 8 week scan date. Another exciting day for the donkeys 😜

Annny27 · 16/06/2021 20:36

This @thislittlebird that is good news about your HyCoSy and we must also remember stress reduction is a big part of the lifestyle plan for so many other reasons! Even if it doesn't directly impact fertility
