@Crazydoglady123 eek exciting you're over to NHS! Is your EDD December or Jan?

@notyetamumbuttrying playing catch up. Got everything crossed for you. Will be lurking as ever with bated breath for your updates
🤞🏻🤞🏻

notyetamumbuttrying · 08/06/2021 14:56

@Theawkwardblonde you're sweet thank you! Likewise with you x

Juno231 · 08/06/2021 16:00

@MIW01 yeah mine took 3,5 weeks to come out and were quite itchy and annoying in the run up. I also had one internal stitch poking out which took another couple of weeks after that to stop... leaking.

@notyetamumbuttrying ah phew, glad it wasn't me putting my foot in it again

notyetamumbuttrying · 08/06/2021 16:09

@Juno231 not at all! How are the wounds now? Do you feel more healed? The pulling when I sit up has finally stopped now for me!

OP posts:
CycleGirl20 · 08/06/2021 16:52

@thislittlebird does your diagnosis impact whether you can get IVF? You mentioned something about unexplained and 0 NHS. Is that a thing? I'm wondering if I should be careful about what kind of infertility I get diagnosed with if I can help it

Juno231 · 08/06/2021 17:20

@CycleGirl20 if there's a reason for your infertility they fast forward you to IVF normally, as there's no point waiting. If however you get unexplained infertility, they make you wait until the 2 or 3 year mark (depending on where you are) before referring you for IVF. In the vain hope that somehow you'll get pregnant in the meantime!!

@notyetamumbuttrying mine look quite ugly but I've had no pulling or pain after I hit the 4 week mark I think! So quite happy with that. Belly button has stopped leaking as well so that's always a bonus too lol - at one point I had put a plaster on top as it was staining my tops whilst at work...

CycleGirl20 · 08/06/2021 17:26

@Juno231 thanks and eek I didn't know that! My other half has low morphology (2%). The previous (private) clinic thought that was ok as his count and form are good but maybe we can convince the NHS otherwise. I'm 35 too so waiting 2-3 years isn't ideal

Juno231 · 08/06/2021 17:30

@CycleGirl20 yeah that's @thislittlebird problem - I think her husband's SA has been deemed normal by the NHS even though it is not and her progesterone is low + I think it's 3 years you have to wait in her area?

My OH and I are unexplained but luckily "only" have to wait to the 2 year mark and the NHS seems to have put that down as July this year instead of next Jan but I'm definitely not correcting them! So actually by the time we can apply for IVF we'll be 20-21 cycles in.

notyetamumbuttrying · 08/06/2021 17:37

@Juno231 mine are ugly too. One is bigger than the other, think I damaged it early doors. Think mine only stopped a couple weeks ago. Had the surgery mid April! Oh wow that's not the one, glad it's stopped now tho x
@CycleGirl20 they might count that as low then. Mine had the same but low motility and Count too so that was enough for ivf for us. I then realised I had endo too so we were defo taken seriously! Plus my amh isn't great either so we were def fighting a losing battle 😂
@Juno231 I'm 21 cycles now and ivf begun at 20 cycles, well months for me as my cycles are so short. God knows what cycle I'm on 😆

CycleGirl20 · 08/06/2021 17:37

Oh gosh. That's a long wait! I wonder how likely it is that people actually get pregnant naturally after a year of nothing. I mean, we'd all love it to be highly probable but really? Maybe I should tell them we started in Feb 2019, not 2020 😬

thislittlebird · 08/06/2021 19:46

Yeah what @Juno231 said. Even if you’ve done the time they might not let you go straight to ivf afaik, lots of people seem to have to go through the ovulation induction steps and stuff first. Probably depends on your consultant, other test results and diagnosis too. Mine was awful, most people’s seem better and they haven’t had this struggle. Have you had FSH or AMH tested yet? That might influence the decision.

I suspect it is because only one of my husband’s parameters were wonky that they said it’s not enough. But it’s ridiculous when we’ve now seen two specialists who have said you need 20 million progressively motile sperm and although he has a high count he only has 11 million good swimmers. What’s the point of all these other parameters being ok if his sperm can’t swim in a straight line?!

They’ve also said I may not be able to sustain a pregnancy with my levels so we both have issues and the nhs aren’t bothered about either. I’m convinced my high AMH makes them blasé too. Like oh she’s got time, it’s fine. It’s not f*cking fine, I’m already 38, it’ll be 2 years in October and no one is even remotely interested, I do not have time. Both have us have quantity but quantity is no good to us if it’s not all functioning properly.

The complaints team asked me for my consultant letters today so I’m going to send them over, and then have to wait 40 days for a response.

thislittlebird · 08/06/2021 19:47

*mine was awful = my consultant was awful

thislittlebird · 08/06/2021 19:49

Honestly @Juno231 I think it being 3 years where I live is disgraceful. There should at least be another rule for people over 35. How can women over 35 be told to get lost and come back in 3 years? Ridiculous.

Narwhal88 · 08/06/2021 22:25

@thislittlebird my DH parameters were crap all round. 2-4 million/ml total count 17 million average across 3 samples. Only 1-2% morphology (1% on last test). Motility was only 12% on first test but improved to over 50% with some changes and Proxeed and wellman. I am also pretty sure I have endo and adeno but nhs haven't diagnosed that yet. Also I lied about when we started TTC when I first went to the gp, I told them we had started about 5 months earlier.
Completely understand the decision around if to spend the money on the surgery as it's just such a gamble either way and I don't know the answer.

@notyetamumbuttrying thank you I'll let you all know tomorrow. My appt is at 8am!

Marvellouslymadmum · 08/06/2021 22:35

@thislittlebird I asked them to email me the results and she just sent me the letter from the clinic rather than the actual report but it actually says on the clinic letter 'as you can see from the report the semen analysis was shown to be entirely normal' so I'm thinking it's probably ok to trust what the clinic have written as it's sussex downs and they're pretty reputable. @notyetamumbuttrying I was pretty shocked actually, I expected something to be low or slow or something from what he's said in the past and the fact he only gave up smoking 6 weeks before and just started eating healthier and exercising but no! And now he thinks he's a king 😂

@Crazydoglady123 thank you, yes hopefully I'll get help once I homegrown to the gynae because they know there's something not right now. Amazing news that you're officially onto the nhs now, so happy for you!

@thislittlebird I gave up posting new threads and ended up joining some instead cos I found no one ever replied to me lol. I may ask for the results of my oh anyway just to be sure!! Hopefully your complaint will be dealt with quickly, sometimes they're a lot quicker than the time they allow 🤞🏻 if they get that sorted and give you your funding that would at least be a good outcome

notyetamumbuttrying · 09/06/2021 08:14

@Narwhal88 thinking of you ♥️
@Marvellouslymadmum haha they do get like that once they get the all clear. Cocky sods 😆
@thislittlebird totally agree with the rules around age and time trying not being taken into account when you're over 35! Hopefully things will start moving for you soon now.

@notyetamumbuttrying lining check was all good and ovaries all quiet. Popped my first 2 estrogen pills this morning. Another check to see if my lining is thick enough on the 21st so just got to keep pill popping till then! How you feeling?

notyetamumbuttrying · 09/06/2021 12:05

@Narwhal88 glad all's on track then! I feel very distracted! Can't concentrate at work and keep googling how early I can get away with testing. Suddenly thought I'd go for Sunday but now have talked myself down again and will wait until Tuesday. That's only 2 days before otd and I'd be 9dp5dt then too so equivalent of 14dpo so it'll be conclusive at least!!

OP posts:
Narwhal88 · 09/06/2021 15:59

@notyetamumbuttrying I couldn't concentrate on work either, it consumes you! I think waiting till 9dp5dt is a good idea. I think if I had tested before then I would keep thinking it may not be accurate and best to know for sure rather than torture yourself. Tuesday is only 6 days away as well so you can do it! Have you got some nice things planned for the weekend to distract you?

Crazydoglady123 · 09/06/2021 16:23

Amazing news @Narwhal88! Everything crossed it all goes smoothly and you get your BFP!

@notyetamumbuttrying completely normal to feel consumed. You're doing so well not testing! I only made it to 5dp5dt 🙈 but like you say then sit there wondering if it's the trigger or real so no better off really. My biggest symptom which was very early on was how veiny my boobs got (but as I have implants I don't know if that's made them more veiny than normal).

notyetamumbuttrying · 09/06/2021 16:23

@Narwhal88 consuming is correct, I've never felt anything like it! I wake up every night and have to go onto the sofa to get bk to sleep.
I actually don't have any plans and Dh is out all day Saturday. I rang my mum yesterday and said I might travel to hers (hour away) on Saturday so think I should! My sister lives close to her too so I could see her and her kids. Think I will rather than go stark raving mad in this flat 🤪 will put me off testing on Sunday if I stay over too! You up to much at the weekend?

OP posts:
notyetamumbuttrying · 09/06/2021 16:28

@Crazydoglady123 I remember you testing early, did you do it daily until otd? I think I'll stay in my PUPO bubble a while longer and wait until Tuesday. Just checked my boobs for veins and can't see any, but I rarely do as my skin is dark. My nipples hurt, but they have since just before EC I think so not really a symptom. I have daily mild cramps, sometimes more intense at times so I'd like to believe that's implantation but could just be the progesterone right. Hate this! 😑

OP posts:
Crazydoglady123 · 09/06/2021 16:42

@notyetamumbuttrying I hate to break it to you but the waits just get worse! From OTD to viability scan was the absolute worst wait! Cramps is a good sign. Yeah I tested daily (slightly obsessive, slightly making up for two and a half years of no BFPs 😂)

polejunkie · 09/06/2021 16:58

@notyetamumbuttrying I really hope this time passes quickly for you - I can only imagine!

@Crazydoglady123 - I bet you were ecstatic when you saw your first BFP 😝

I asked if my OH could come to my scan next week, they said no... guess that’s standard atm - still a bit miffed though, feel like I’m out on a limb sometimes! Only seen someone face to face to sign paperwork the rest has been so impersonal... bloody covid!

thislittlebird · 09/06/2021 17:06

@Narwhal88 I’m tempted to try him on proxeed if impryl doesn’t have an impact. I saw someone say their DH was taking them both on alternating days.

I wish I’d lied. I didn’t think I needed to because we have issues but more fool me, I guess.

No idea what we’ll do with the surgery decision. Hoping the other results might give us more insight, he’s going for his next SA today, but this time it’s more in depth tests including a COMET test. I’m very nervous the results will be worse again. Sigh.

Hope the appointment went well today!
