Here we are again... thread 19. Not sure if any of you ladies are here from thread 1. I think I've been around since about thread 5.

@susiebluebell I can truly sympathise. I remember talking to you before about long cycles. It really does feel so unfair. My last cycle was 80 days! Currently on day 43 and took a test this morning which was bfn. What gets me is having to wait so long for next cycle to try again. I had a bit of a cry the other day as two friends I used to speak to about TTC are now pregnant.

Oohh will have to have a look at that diet too. Sure it can’t hurt to try. Hope you can get somewhere with your gp soon 🤞!

Loulou237 · 04/06/2021 09:49

@susiebluebell so sorry you’re going through this it sounds like complete limbo! Are you sure you’re ovulating? If you can maybe you could try another doctors as it seems like they are useless and would just take a referral to maybe make some progress. Good luck with it all xxx

susiebluebell · 04/06/2021 10:14

@Loulou237 That's the thing, I'm not sure I am bloody ovulating! This cycle I really wanted to find out, so I did two or three OPKs every day religiously. It went up and down, but no peak seen. After 40-odd days I just couldn't stand the sight of them any more. I need to ask the doctor about it. Thanks for the push to get the GP sorted out. Xx

@Wishingfornumber2 yes I remember that talk too. Even 43 days is unreal, I don't know how we put up with the not knowing. I've had end of year uni stuff till now, so able to put it on a back burner. But now I've got the time and heads space to deal with it properly.

I've majorly cut down on the sugar so far (painful and makes life boring lol) and the almond milk I bought tastes like dishwater. But having babies is the thing that would motivate me, more than my own health. So I'm willing to make the changes.

Loulou237 · 04/06/2021 10:18

@susiebluebell sounds bloody infuriating! So sorry. Hope you get an appointment/referral and some answers soon.

I’ve heard amazing things about the keto diet and fertility and pcos but that’s cutting out pretty much all carbs it’s really hard! Xxx

bez91 · 04/06/2021 12:01

Ahhh @susiebluebell CD61 that's crappy! What's the process for diagnosis? Have you been having bloods that suggest the same, low progesterone? Really sorry and hope you get somewhere with the GP 💕 the diet sounds interesting!

CD4 here. Hid the OPKs and BBT this morning as I just need a break going into cycle 13. Concentrating on toning up, going to meal prep for all next week... try to...

@susiebluebell, I really feel for you. It is hard not to think 'why me/us?' when it looks like everyone around you is getting what they want, and it takes the people on this forum longer. The majority of people in my family have 3 kids, and I am still here trying to have just one healthy baby. Just keep on working towards improvement of the situation, by getting more knowledge (through tests, etc.) and by taking care of your fertility health.

Keep pestering the GP for the tests you need. You know a 60-day cycle isn't normal and so does the GP. Keep pushing. Put requests in emails, etc. so you have a track record.

In the meantime, being healthier is a good idea. You might just be one of the women for whom it makes a difference. I am on a fertility-friendly diet as well (doing the It Starts with the Egg one). I hope things will work out for you!!

susiebluebell · 04/06/2021 12:57

@Loulou237 Thank you. I read up on keto as well, and it has helped a lot of women with PCOS. The Beat PCOS Diet seems to be less limiting, in that you still eat low-GI carbs (quinoa, wild rice, sweet potatoes) so it's more doable long-term. The main thing is to cut out inflammatory stuff like sugar, processed carbs, and vegetable oils. I do (did) eat a lot of sugar and carbs, but considered myself to eat quite well overall, I mostly cook from scratch etc. We'll see how it goes.

@bez91 As far as I've understood (my sister was recently diagnosed) it's based on reporting your symptoms and then getting a blood test. Sometimes you would have an ultrasound to see if there are loads of follicles on your ovaries.

Fingers crossed for your meal prep - be free of those pesky OPKs!

@davidrosejumper Thank you, it's so reassuring to know others are having to do stuff like this. I know that 'why me' isn't that helpful, but I know that I am adjusting to this new knowledge. And I'm allowing myself to feel irrationally jealous of women who eat total crap, drink, smoke and get pregnant easily... Blush One day at a time.

Lollipop25 · 04/06/2021 22:52

I'm really sorry ttc is being so bloody awkward for you @susiebluebell, the long cycles sound like torture, never know where you stand.

It's definitely unfair, not irrational at all to feel like that when women don't 'do it the right way' or even want a baby and just end up pregnant without any issues

susiebluebell · 05/06/2021 12:03

Laughing at myself because my period just turned up (after 62 days!) and my first thought was, I have to tell the TTC ladies!

I think it's probably too soon for the diet changes to have made any big impact on my hormones, but it's really encouraging all the same, so I'm going to keep on with them. Might have to find a substitute for the unsweetened almond milk though 🤮

bez91 · 05/06/2021 19:41

Yayy glad AF finally showed @susiebluebell hopefully any changes you make will have enough time to show a difference next cycle 🤞🏼 have you tried coconut milk? I like almond milk but do prefer coconut 🥥

OP posts:
susiebluebell · 05/06/2021 21:28

@bez91 I actually haven't tried the 'milk substitute' coconut milk yet, although I get tins of the normal stuff for curries and often scrape out the bottom to eat! Going shopping tomorrow and will keep an eye out for it!

Marvellouslymadmum · 05/06/2021 23:28

@susiebluebell I know how frustrating long cycles can be I've had a few and currently on for another one cd28 and my body is just having its third attempt at ovulation this month! I initially suspected pcos and I've had blood tests but nothing particularly shows it, it's now liking more likely to be endometriosis instead. Hope the docs get to the bottom of it for you! It's the now knowing what's going on that drives you crazy!! Glad af showed though!!

susiebluebell · 06/06/2021 18:54

@Marvellouslymadmum You are so right about the not knowing! That's what can really make me feel I am battling my body, or angry at it. Because it's not telling me what's going on. This period is extremely heavy and crampy, but feels good to have a fresh start.

My cousin has endo and it is no joke. I really hope it's something else for you - or if it is endo, that you get brilliant care and it's managed well. Which it can be. Got my fingers crossed for you too 💕

gizmo167 · 06/06/2021 20:04

@susiebluebell I have pcos i was diagnosed after irregular cycles & acne! I had a laparoscopy to confirm & wasnt ttc at that time & dr simply told me to go on the pill!!!! I hadn't ever been on pill so I didn't, many years later ttc with no luck I had ovulation tests, confirmed I was ovulating, had ovarian drilling done & 2 months later conceived with my dd! It is very much diet related, I was fortunate enough not to have weight or diabetes problems & since having my dd my cycles were much more regular

Marvellouslymadmum · 06/06/2021 22:47

@susiebluebell thank you, looks like the third ov attept didn't work either so back to waiting for me!

davidrosejumper · 07/06/2021 09:50

I can sympathise with the waiting. Since our loss this winter, I have been waiting for test results, and then for the jab, to be able to get started again. Currently on AF, and just so relieved that we will at least be in with a shot this upcoming month, after not having been able to start TTC for months.

I am trying OPKs for the first time (I bought Tesco's), and very curious how that will go.

Loulou237 · 07/06/2021 10:11

@davidrosejumper do you have to put ttc on hold after the jab? Sorry I’m sure you’ve said before but can’t remember the advice. If you google it seems like they say it’s safe under all circumstances...xx

susiebluebell · 07/06/2021 16:49

@gizmo167 Glad there's another woman here with PCOS! I know that docs often want to put you on the pill - I've never been on it either though. What was the drilling like? It sounds so harsh!

davidrosejumper · 07/06/2021 17:05

@Loulou237, I got my second AZ one, and asked the OBGYN consultant about it. She said to just wait for a week, but with bad timing that happened to be my fertile window, so I was out for that cycle. With Pfizer it is different, I think.

Just happy to be back to TTC now.

Loulou237 · 07/06/2021 17:11

@davidrosejumper ah thanks, I’m still in two minds about the whole thing as I’ve had to wait a few months to try again anyway due to a molar pregnancy so really itching to start again! Good luck this month Xxx

Marvellouslymadmum · 07/06/2021 17:39

@davidrosejumper I had my second az jab at ovulation time and all my docs told me it was safe 🤷🏼‍♀️ no need to abstain or anything.

gizmo167 · 07/06/2021 20:14

@susiebluebell no different than a normal laparoscopy, keyhole surgery, they drill little holes into your ovaries, its meant to kick start hormones, they found some signs of endometriosis & PID scarring with me too so dealt with what they could, recovery time a couple of weeks, minimal scar so worth asking about??

elsimo · 07/06/2021 22:08

Hey guys :)

Hope you are all well.

I'm going to leave the forum ❤️.
After 2 years of trying I have made a conscious decision to stop focussing on ttc and start living my life and trying to be happy and positive again.
We will still ttc and back to the fertility consultant on 1st July to see what our next steps are.
The truth is with every BFP thats announced I feel that sets me back a little aswell.
Best of luck to u all and thanks so much for the advice and support thru the darkest of months.
Good luck xxx

Lollipop25 · 08/06/2021 00:08

@elsimo oh I'm sorry it makes you feel like that but you have to do what's best for you, good luck 💓

bez91 · 08/06/2021 05:55

Sorry to hear that @elsimo 💕 I get you, it's hard. When you've been around so long, I'm starting to feel the same.

Wishing you all the best in your journey x
