Hi @Geriatric1234 thanks for checking in . 6wks 3 days today and worrying myself sick everyday that something will be wrong . Currently stuck at home with my hot coughing 4 year old so I am now worried I will catch something ! Why is pregnancy such a stressful time . I just want to enjoy it ! X

@thislittlebird good luck for today!

Re: the acupuncture, I'm having my first period after three sessions last month and its a horrible one - painful, heavy, first day was thick brown blood. I'm thinking this can't be right, because its meant to promote a healthy flow, but its way worse than my normal period

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 06/05/2021 10:17

@ElsieG3m yes I think so, people catching coronavirus has been affecting their menstrual cycle, and there's this article (among others) saying that the jab is affecting things also www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/covid-19-vaccine-effect-on-periods_uk_6089f386e4b0ccb91c2d8f82

Gummybear17 · 06/05/2021 10:42

@ElsieG3m I had my 2nd jab the week before ovulation and I conceived that cycle , however I didn't have any side effects other than a sore arm x

thislittlebird · 06/05/2021 11:52

I had the worst experience at the hospital. She didn’t take any info, just ticked boxes and f*cked us off, basically. Haven’t stopped crying for some time now, I broke down in the doctor’s office in a big way. She was a horrible old woman and doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with us. We don’t meet the criteria for IVF despite our very low progesterone and motility. All she did was bounce us back to the GP for a day 3 test. I’m devastated and so tired. I don’t even want to do any of this anymore.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 06/05/2021 12:11

@thislittlebird I am so sorry, that's so disappointing xx

Geriatric1234 · 06/05/2021 12:12

@thislittlebird oh I’m so sorry! Some people in the ttc universe are absolutely horrible! I was blocked on Instagram last week by a doctor for asking Qs she didn’t like about fertility!! It’s shit.

But perhaps the very thin silver lining is that she doesn’t think there’s anything wrong?

@ElsieG3m I had my vaccine this month too and I had a fever about 12 hours later. I think it can impact implantation but tricky to be sure as it’s not been properly investigated because it doesn’t affect men. Ffs. Anyway, as the link above @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 shared says, there’s some anecdotal evidence it might mess with periods, but it’s so tricky to know what’s a real side effect vs the first time someone is really thinking about their periods. Either way feels nice to be (half) vaccinated! 🤣

Geriatric1234 · 06/05/2021 12:13

@Gummybear17 Ah yay! And of course now you have THE FEAR of phase 2! You’ll be fine, I’m sure of it! Xx

Gummybear17 · 06/05/2021 12:16

@Geriatric1234 yes first midwife appointment soon. I'm so scared of chromosomal abnormalities with my age (38) I don't think I will
Sleep until I deliver !! X

Katiekattty · 06/05/2021 12:33

@thislittlebird I’m so sorry, that’s sounds awful. Is there any chance you could get another appointment and see someone else?
I honestly feel like sometimes with these doctors you have to scream to be heard otherwise they brush you off as another tick box exercise.

M4v3r1ck · 06/05/2021 12:33

Hey ladies, I can't keep up! Any testers soon? 🤞🏻

Thanks for asking @Geriatric1234, I'm very similar to @Gummybear17 in that I don't think I'll relax until I have a healthy baby in my arms! Overanalysing every symptom! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Coming up for 5 weeks here, find this so confusing as it's only been about 3 weeks since conception/ovulation! All being well I will contact midwife etc next week! 😃🤞🏻 Where are you at cycle wise?

Omg @thislittlebird I'm so sorry this has happened to you! 😳

@Kitekat81 were you starting IVF this cycle?

Misty84 · 06/05/2021 12:44

Ah I’m so sorry @thislittlebird, it sounds like a horrible experience, especially when it means so much and there’s such a build up to it.
Why are you not eligible for IVF?

notyetamumbuttrying · 06/05/2021 12:47

@ShirleyValentineManc was it a wand device? If not it wouldn't have been a transvaginal one. Defo worth asking for one when you speak to them and see if they'll redo your day 21s on day 17.
@thislittlebird mate I'm so sorry, that is awful! Did you hear back from your complaint? Another one to add to it!!
@M4v3r1ck I'm testing on Sunday at 10dpo 😬 only so early so that if it is bfp I can stop these Ivf injections pronto. Glad you're well! X

got2be · 06/05/2021 12:51

@Misty84 did you get it on nhs? I’m sure private will look into it. But I don’t want to worry you into thinking it’s wrong as I don’t know the source of the article.
@ShirleyValentineManc ok I asked as I’ve received a false peak on them but scan said I had not ovulated.
Hopefully you can get some investigations done soon.

ElsieG3m · 06/05/2021 12:55

@Gummybear17 @Geriatric1234 thanks both! I guess it was mainly whether fever can affect things. I was properly ill for 10 days - actually couldn't even work. Fully confident/happy with decision to have the vaccine though and I spoke to my consultant before who chairs RCOG and wrote the guidance on the vaccine in TTC/preg/bf and he said absolutely no impact on fertility or pregnancies but I wonder if that's different if you're very ill from it as I was.

ElsieG3m · 06/05/2021 12:56

@thislittlebird so sorry you had such an awful time. You must feel so upset. Perhaps you could talk to your GP and request a second opinion - you are well within your rights xx

got2be · 06/05/2021 12:57

@thislittlebird I’m so sorry you had to go through an experience like that. I’m sure the nhs are full of robots that don’t have a clue how traumatic ttc is when having difficulties.
I have broken down many of times.
I know you feel like this now but please don’t give up.
Maybe take a few days to clear your head. xx

Misty84 · 06/05/2021 12:57

@got2be Yes I’ve tried to get as much on the nhs as possible before starting private. We have our private consultation tomorrow so things should really start moving although I’m a bit scared about the whole process- IVF in general and the astronomical cost. Still praying for a natural miracle.

I’ve just entered fertile window, anyone else?!

ElsieG3m · 06/05/2021 12:58

@Gummybear17 try not to worry and enjoy it if you can! My sister and friend have both delivered gorgeous healthy little munchkins at nearly 40 and 41. I went for a peace of mind and had enhanced bloods at 15 weeks so maybe you could do that too after your 12 week if it helps. It looked at turners, downs etc and you can also find out the sex too if you want to (we didn't) xx

ElsieG3m · 06/05/2021 13:01

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 thanks lovely! It didn't affect my period but interesting what it says about the quality of the endometrium xx

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 06/05/2021 13:07

@ElsieG3m I've just read your comment above. Sorry I didn't mean it would have any impact on fertility or pregnancies (I'll be having my vaccine when I'm eligible, I'm not anti-vaxxer 😂) I mean it might affect things very temporarily if you were ill etc. I had a bit of a weird cycle where I ovulated right before my period this year, so had a look into it and one of the things could have been being exposed to coronavirus. I could also just have been stressed without realising it 🤷‍♀️ who knows.

ElsieG3m · 06/05/2021 14:48

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 no I know lovely - just thought I'd share that info for anyone reading and worrying about the vaccine having broader impacts - I know I was before I got the reassurance 😊 I think you're right that it could have a temporary impact. Or maybe it just wasn't a good month who knows! I'm mega stressed all the time because of my job and I def think I ovulate right before my period too. This month my luteal phase was only 8 days if my bbt charts were accurate 😬 xx

ImpatientTTCer · 06/05/2021 16:28

@thislittlebird I’m so sorry to hear about what happened at the hospital! Some people are just so unfeeling, and it has such a huge effect. I definitely second the idea that you should ask your GP to refer you elsewhere for a second opinion. Don’t give up!!

ImpatientTTCer · 06/05/2021 16:32

@Misty84 me! I think 😂 I’m on CD13, not 100% sure when I should be expecting ovulation as my last two periods were both longer than usual (maybe due to all the new vitamins? Who knows!) but I’m assuming an approximate ovulation date within the next 5/6 days, so as far as I’m concerned the fertile window has started!

Misty84 · 06/05/2021 16:54

@ImpatientTTCer I don’t have the energy for the fertile window 😂
