@Marvellouslymadmum I'm so very sorry for your losses. That just be so hard and sending you loads of luck for a positive very soon.

Have you had any tests done?

I had read about the year but didn't really understand - is that a year to conceive a viable pregnancy or does it include those that sadly don't continue? Sorry I hope you don't mind my asking. I had also read that 65% conceive within 6 months but again unsure if that's pregnancies that go to term. Xx

selina37 · 28/04/2021 17:33

Hi @ElsieG3m Ubiquinol is a more digestible version of co-enzyme q10. Probably doesn't answer your question does it 🤣 But it's good for egg quality. Apparently you should use a kaneka(?) one...? I get it from Amazon in 200mg tablets for about £21.

Three years won't make a difference! Your body knows what to do, you just need to get the right combination of egg, sperm and implantation. It's been 11.5 years since I had my son but I'm still hopeful.

Maybe suggest he uses something to put his laptop on, it can't hurt. But try not to get too stressed! That's the one thing you don't want to be!!

TTCat39 · 28/04/2021 17:36

Yaaaaassssss @M4v3r1ck !! Congratulations and all the very very best for a healthy pregnancy. Star

@M4v3r1ck

🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳 Amazing news!! Congratulations

Noodella18 · 28/04/2021 19:32

@impatientttcer sure, the thread is here:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/4182725-entering-the-tww-with-bbt-charts

And I used this site to do the conversions:

whenmybaby.com/basalbodytemperature.php

I'm so hacked off... but I am also confused, if I got my peak CD20 at 5pm is it even possible not to ovulate until CD23??

ImpatientTTCer · 28/04/2021 19:54

@Noodella18 thank you!!!

My gut answer would be to say it might be a stretch for ovulation to have been day 23 if the peak was at 5pm on CD20, but they do say 24-36 hours.... I’ve just looked at my last couple of months and I’m pretty sure my OPK “surge” (which never hits a full positive because my body likes to keep me guessing) usually happens 2 days before the BBT confirms ovulation (and I seem to get the pain the day before), so maybe it could be CD22 for you this time around?

Have you been charting for long? If you have another month or more to look at, can you see any patterns that could give you a hint when you usually ovulate?

Marvellouslymadmum · 28/04/2021 20:06

@selina37 our bodies really do try to trick us sometimes but hopefully you'll find out soon!

@ElsieG3m thank you, I've come to accept it as part of ttc now though I didn't have any issues at all with my first two children. I've had every blood test there is through the gp and have now been referred to gynaecology but it's an 8 month wait! I think the year is to get pregnant. In regards to your questions - some people conceive one then fall quickly on the second, some have more trouble I'd suggest trying for 6 months then going to your gp for tests, most fertility places will tell you try for a while before tests too I believe and as far as the warm thing with the laptop, years ago when my oh was ttc his children with his ex he was told he had warm sperm which slowed them down so I believe the warmth thing to be true, also heard a lot if stories from others on here as well

@Noodella18 it take 12-48 hours for ovulation after the peak I believe so I would say it's just about possible yes I don't think it's a divinities amount of time

thislittlebird · 28/04/2021 20:06

@Noodella18 yeah totally is. I think I ovulated super late like that last month. My period finally came on on day 34/cd1.

I gave up testing last month, didn’t seem worth it, but I was on antibiotics so that probably messed it all up. Not sure what’s going on this month, possibly not ovulated yet/maybe early who knows, but I won’t worry too much about ovulation testing.

thislittlebird · 28/04/2021 20:07

Congrats to @M4v3r1ck!

ElsieG3m · 28/04/2021 20:50

@selina37 thank you for the encouragement and explanation! Is it like inositol or something different again?! Fingers crossed for your BFP v soon xx

ElsieG3m · 28/04/2021 20:53

@Marvellouslymadmum thank you. I guess we'll see how we go on and then think about what to do.

I'm sorry the wait is so long, that's so tough for you. I hope there's a cancellation and you can get in more quickly. So flipping tough this baby making game!

Yes, I'm sure the laptop thing can't be healthy, not least because no one should be working until midnight after a 12 hour working day! Xx

MgW1 · 28/04/2021 20:57

@M4v3r1ck
Congratulations!!! Brilliant news 😘 xx

MgW1 · 28/04/2021 20:59

@Marvellouslymadmum
Did your g.p do progesterone blood test? Have you decided against seeing anyone privately ? I think you mentioned before you were considering it

soontobeamama · 28/04/2021 21:21

Congratulations @M4v3r1ck - fingers crossed for a healthy 9 months! It also gives the rest of us hope that it is still possible xx

got2be · 28/04/2021 21:40

Congratulations @M4v3r1ck wishing you a healthy 9months x
How long were you on ubiquinol thinking of changing from coq10.

Noodella18 · 28/04/2021 22:14

@Marvellouslymadmum @impatientttcer @thislittlebird thanks for the info. God how annoying. I still think though that if peak was CD20 surely I would ovulate CD22 latest. CD23 would be 60 hours min, just feels too long.

@impatient no, first month temping, my toddler still doesn't sleep through so I play a lot of musical beds and wake up at random times if she's kicking off, hence not being able to take temp at the same time each morning 🤦‍♀️

ImpatientTTCer · 29/04/2021 06:41

@Noodella18 oh no! Well then it sounds like it was a great find, that conversion tool. To be honest I don’t take my temperature at exactly the same time every morning, usually any time between 4.30-6.15 (I don’t sleep well!) but even with the time variance I can still see a big jump in temperature and it fits when I count 14 days back from my period starting (give or take the odd day). Do you normally have a very slightly longer cycle, say 33-35?

If you use CD22 this time around as an estimate, how many DPO would that make you today? When can you test? 😂

Noodella18 · 29/04/2021 07:15

@ImpatientTTCer my cycle was 28-30 days for almost a year (after I got my period back after breastfeeding) and obviously with ttc it has gone haywire 🙈 Last month was 32 days and this month is now due to be 34/5 days! I took pregnacare vits in cycle 1 and a random host of vits for most of cycle 2 including a very strong vit b complex. Then I read that both pregnacare vits and vit b complex can delay ov in some people so hastily stopped around CD18. If I'm not preggo this cycle I'm not messing with any supplements other than FA and vitD. If I took ov to be CD22 then I would be 8DPO so not really justifiable to test yet 😩

Whereabouts are you in your cycle? Sorry you're not a great sleeper! Have you tried the converter? It's pretty interesting!

thislittlebird · 29/04/2021 07:55

@Noodella18 I might not be caught up and missed something but why do you think ovulation happened/will happen two days + after the LH surge?

ImpatientTTCer · 29/04/2021 08:05

@Noodella18 The extra vitamins have thrown me off, too! That said, I would usually be 30-32 days (so a little longer than yours) and the last two months I’ve been 35 and 35.....but gosh those extra three days felt a bit off, so I can imagine you’ve really noticed the difference if you’re used to sub 30. I’ve been taking Pregnacare, D, C, E, Coq10, FA, and Omega! Poor fiancé is taking almost the same, I had to buy weekly pill boxes and organise everything in advance because there are just So. Many. Pills. So to be fair my body probably has no idea what’s happening 😂

I’m on CD6 so just waiting for my period to end before I can start with the OPKs on about CD16....

Haven’t tried the converter yet but will have a play around with it on my next day off and see if it changes much. I wonder how they’ve worked out how much the temperature changes depending on times!

Do you think you’ll have the willpower to wait a couple of days before testing?! Maybe start on 10DPO, or even later.....? Big ask, isn’t it!

Geriatric1234 · 29/04/2021 08:15

Hi @ElsieG3m! I’m 42, DH is 49 and ttc #1 for 5 months after a surprise pregnancy and early MC over Xmas. I’m step-mum to 2 and wasn’t planning to TTC but now we are giving nature a chance so we can look back with no regrets, but fairly chill (LOL) about result .

That said, I’m also a control freak!

At the 38/39/40+ age things can change surprisingly quickly, so I’d suggest getting a few tests to see if any fertility red flags pop up now, rather than waiting too long. Mainly because so many “issues” have quite simple fixes, and if you’re likely to want IVF 42/43/44 really is the cut-off for most clinics. (Though I’m not an expert as not going IVF route.)

I’d suggest getting progesterone checked if your cycles are at all irregular, AMH (gives an indication of egg reserve quantities, not quality), thyroid (lots of women can have a thyroid issue without knowing) and vit D. These are very standard at most fertility clinics (note these clinics will potentially hard sell IVF, but don’t be convinced too quickly). Also worth doing a transvaginal scan as fibroids/polyps pop up quickly at this age and you can get a visual follicle count to check you still have operational follicles.

All of the above cost me a little under £500 which, if you can afford it, is great for peace of mind.

Also get the book “it starts with the egg” to give you a summary of which supplements would most benefit you.

Xxx

M4v3r1ck · 29/04/2021 08:25

Thank you so much, ladies! 😍 I'll stick around if that's ok and hopefully impart any useful advice where I can, and always here for a "listen"! Hopefully some more of you will be joining us with BFPs! 🤞🏻

@Noodella18 although bbt has been great for me, it is a complete brat! 🤣 It's so sensitive and "fluctuating", so if you have disrupted sleep or cannot check at the same time, I wonder if it's not worth doing it, as it might just add stress? 🤔 I'd probs rely on OPKs vs BBT more!

@ElsieG3m as @selina37 says, it's to potentially help with egg quality. I only heard about it on here via the "it starts with the egg". Just realised I should probably stop it now and only have folic acid and vit D!

@Noodella18
@ImpatientTTCer
I took all sorts of vitamins , evening primrose and vit c and pregnacare but had to cut down to b6 & seven seas and nothing else because I was ovulating late. During the 2 months when I ovulated late I had a chemical 😥 I have read late ovulation is not good because the egg starts to deteriorate.
After 2 cycles of reduced vitamins I am now back to a 30 day month and ovulated last 2 months on CD 15 so Its worth cutting back x
