TTC after MC - new thread for newbies / lurkers on other threads!

Lowkeyloopy · 06/04/2021 12:49

Hi all!

I know there are several threads dedicated to this topic, which I've lurked on for several weeks without saying anything, but some threads (sadly) have so many people on them that it can be a bit hard to follow, or it feels awkward to jump into the middle of a conversation between people who have been chatting for a while. Does anyone fancy joining me on a new thread?

My story: 33, TTC baby #1, conceived first cycle in Feb, but had a MC at 6 weeks in early March. Absolutely awful, as everyone knows, and I was in a rubbish place mentally for a few weeks, but I've also counted my blessings - it was early, I needed no medical intervention and at least I know I can conceive. Also AF has returned today - 29 days after first day of my MC. I usually have a 28-29 day cycle so am so grateful that my body seems to be getting with the programme again.

So CD1 for me, and I'll be TTC this month and back to tracking - BBT from tomorrow, OPKs from CD 11, still taking my Pregnacare and trying to keep exercising and eating healthily!

Would anyone like to join me if they're going through something similar? How have you been coping since your MC? What's on your TTC to-do list?! (Other than the obvious..!)

Baby dust to all xx

Well AF hasn’t arrived but I’ve just done 2 tests and both negative 😢

CocoLady · 16/07/2021 21:19

Evening everyone I've been off here a while as I was getting to fixated on TTC, tracking etc! How is everyone?

I did a OPK a few days ago and had a smiley face and me n partner have DTD a few times during the 2 days. So I guess is it a two week wait now or shall I wait for AF to come ?

I also have a birthday meal out next week and was planning on havin a few drinks.. would that affect anything ?
Thanks 🙏🏻

bea19 · 16/07/2021 23:22

@CMcA21 did you test with a FRER? Keeping fingers crossed for you that AF stays away and you get a BFP.

@CocoLady good idea to take some time away to look after yourself. I think early testing is really personal… As I said earlier on this thread that I would always test before I was due because if I was having early losses I would want to know so I could seek care if I had recurrent losses. Unfortunately this is exactly what has happened to me recently but at least I have been able to get referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic. That said I can completely understand not wanting to test too. On the drinking thing, again really personal. I’ve read that alcohol can affect chances of implantation and increase miscarriage risk so I don’t drink while ttc but to be honest that’s an easy decision for me as I am still breastfeeding and so not drinking anyway! Hope you have a lovely birthday and good luck in the TWW

bea19 · 16/07/2021 23:39

Btw - absolutely no judgement from me on the drinking thing though! Never sure how these things come across written down

CocoLady · 17/07/2021 09:48

Thanks @bea19 ! Tracking but only from what my app says but was doing it everyday before so was takin the fun out of it and I can be a bit obsessive! Haha

When I was pregnant my daughter whose 6 now i was out 3 times a week drinking a lot and must have drank in ovulation and the first 4 weeks of pregnancy without knowing I was pregnant and my dd is absolutely fine! When I conceived last year
Too I was drinking one night a week too! It's funny as both times I wasn't even really TTC!
So il prob jus have a few watered down drinks to celebrate.

Bit of a hard one this week I've been referred for bereavement counselling 7 months after my miscarriage and I had to have an assessment and the woman (not her fault) " so can i ask what was the relationship to you with whom who passed?" 😭 I was like "um my baby" I had a miscarriage.
She was like "oh" so yes that's wasn't easy at all ! So triggering! X

CMcA21 · 21/07/2021 17:30

@bea19 I got AF 😢

But I have bought some OPKs so going to try with those this month! 🤞🏻

bea19 · 21/07/2021 22:23

So sorry to hear that @CMcA21 😢. Hope you are doing ok. 🤞🏻 for the OPKs. I definitely find them helpful - I thought we would miss my peak this cycle as DH was away but I didn’t get my peak until CD17 so he was back!

TBF29 · 25/07/2021 10:34

Morning everyone

How are you all doing/feeling/coping??

bea19 · 25/07/2021 12:43

Morning @TBF29 how are you? And how are the rest of you ladies?

I’m still waiting for my appointment at the recurrent miscarriage clinic… They said they are waiting for the consultants to release dates so I’m assuming that means my referral has been accepted 🤞🏻. In the meantime though we decided to keep TTC and I’m 10dpo today and just got a bfp! I went off chocolate again so I wasn’t surprised but nice to see a good strong line. Hoping so much that this little one is sticky but at the same time feeling a bit fearful… Think I will call the clinic and ask if there is anything they can do.

TBF29 · 25/07/2021 12:47

@bea19 oh wow that's amazing news! I'll keep everything crossed for you. Definitely ring the clinic and see what they say.

I'm ok, my GP agreed to refer me to the recurrent miscarriage clinic after last months chemical so I'm just waiting to see how long it will be for an appointment now 🤞

bea19 · 25/07/2021 13:11

Ah thank you @TBF29. Trying to manage the nerves, especially as it’s so early, but will ring the clinic tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed you don’t have to wait long for an appointment and that they can offer things to help.

SparrowMaiden · 01/08/2021 10:34

Hello everyone, looks like it's all gone a bit quiet here. Congratulations @bea19 I hope it is all going well for you. I've been staying off MN as much as possible just for my mental health, I've been trying to take it easy this month and "not think about it" (as if that's possible). Anyway I hope everyone is OK and those with BFPs are doing well. X

TBF29 · 01/08/2021 19:36

Take care of yourself @SparrowMaiden, its a tough and draining journey.

What did the clinic say when you called @bea19?

Flopsy88 · 01/08/2021 20:33

Hi girls! Hope everyone is doing ok xx

That sounds sensible @SparrowMaiden I hope the MN break has helped
Congratulations @bea19 How are you doing? Did you have any luck with the clinic?

I'm 11 weeks today and have been feeling constantly sick for weeks now. I feel like I'm going a bit mad. I've also been avoiding MN cos thinking about anything pregnancy related has made my nausea worse. I'm really hoping it settles down in the next few weeks. I'm starting to get a bit nervous about my 12 week scan which is a week tomorrow. I haven't seen the baby since 7 weeks and that feels ages ago now. I'm hoping my worsening symptoms means everything is ok in there!

Mrsmujic · 05/08/2021 18:36

Hi all, so just to share some news.. I was so nervous after having no symptoms throughout really so was preparing for the worst, however I had 12 week scan today and everything is fine, can't believe seeing it in there.

So those who are struggling, hang in there, hopefully you will get your positive news soon! ❤️ Xxxxxxx

LSW82 · 06/08/2021 11:45

@Mrsmujic that's great news congratulations
Hope everyone else is doing ok, I'm currently in the TTW but not sure of my dpo as I ran out of tests before I got a peak 🤦🏼‍♀️!!
