TTC first baby (dc1) after MC

Hello, I know there are similar threads for TTC after miscarriage/loss, but I thought it would be good to have a thread for those trying for their first baby. Personally, I know a few friends who've sadly had MC but they were all pregnancy number 2 having already had a healthy baby on first pregnancy. All 3 are now pregnant again which gives me hope but I can't help but be stressed/worry if I will ever have a healthy pregnancy and be able to carry a baby to full term. So I feel like I'm in a slightly different position to those TTC after loss who already have babies. I hope that isn't insensitive. Hopefully there are others TTC their first and we can support eachother.

My story is 27yo, came off pill sept 2020. Pregnant January 2021, had a scan at 7 weeks, dated 7+1 and saw a HB. Had a scan at 9+4 and baby hadn't grown and no HB so MMC. Had surgical management so ERPC on 5th March. I have just finished bleeding earlier this week snd trying straight away before first period. 🤞🏻

Hi @clcmuminprogress , did you do a pregnancy test after your mc? If you had a negative one before and now it's positive, then possibly you are pregnant again and this would be great! But I understand if you don't want to get your hopes up too much...I would be the same :(

hopefully in a couple of days you will still test positive...and with the blood tests you can see whether the hcg is going up (pregnancy) or down (leftover hcg from previous pregnancy).
I keep my fingers crossed for you!

I am on CD9 after my first period post mc (which came after 5 wk, so longer than a normal period for me)... fertile window is almost here, I'm so nervous!

EsseKey · 27/04/2021 18:00

@MrsF111 were your cycles always 38 days long?
mine were always around 29 but I had very clear symptoms of ovulation (always confirmed by opk)...including little cramping, spotting and some nausea (well not really nausea, but I wasn't hungry at all for a couple of days) - so maybe that's it? are you tracking?
good luck in your 2ww anyway... if I ovulate around this weekend (assuming my cycle hasn't changed too much after mc...who knows), then I'll be in my first 2ww after mc so we can keep each other company for a bit ;)

clcmuminprogress · 27/04/2021 19:30

Thank you @MrsF111
@EsseKey - I stupidly thought there would be no chance of me getting pregnant straight away so didn't take a test - definitely regretting that now as I could be get excited over nothing. Think I might wait until Tuesday after the Bank Holiday and if still testing positive ask for a blood test. Sending lots of luck for you in your upcoming ovulation window!

EsseKey · 27/04/2021 19:38

@clcmuminprogress easier said than done, but try to relax and enjoy the bank holiday weekend for now! in my previous 2ww it helped me focussing on the fact that at this point what is done is done, so if you are pregnant or not, nothing changes for now. Sounds silly, but it's also true and in some moments it helped me forgetting about it for a little bit.
Looking forward to hearing some news from you after the weekend :)

MrsF111 · 27/04/2021 19:43

@EsseKey it’s my first 2ww too! Will be good to have someone to share the wait with. Yeah they have always been 38 days but I’ve only had 4 cycles as was on the pill then got pregnant first cycle, miscarried, then after my periods came back I got pregnant on the 3rd cycle and miscarried again so I’ve not got much data to go on!

EsseKey · 27/04/2021 19:55

so sorry to hear about your double mc...let's hope that it doesn't happen again!
happy to have someone to share the 2ww...I'll keep you posted! :)

EsseKey · 28/04/2021 08:28

Hi ladies... just popping here to complain a bit about my 'bad luck' :D

I was hoping to be in the most fertile window by this weekend, according to my cycle patterns before mc... which would have been great because it's bank holiday weekend and my boyfriend will be at home, so no problem getting to dtd...
but I tested with CB opk (the 2 hormones one), and I got the flashy smile this morning...and he is not at home during the week because he works 1.5h away from here so he has his own accommodation near work :( plus I am not feeling 100%, I have the cold or something... uggghhh

I am planning to go "visit" my boyfriend tonight and maybe spend a couple of nights there before we can spend the whole long weekend together...so we should be fine and cover the fertile window. But umpf this is stressing! And I don't exactly like spending my time there... but it's all for the best, right? right? Blush Grin

MrsF111 · 28/04/2021 08:38

@EsseKey that’s a pain!! I would probably go there tonight if you can. Bit of a pain if your aren’t feeling great, the things we do for a baby!! Haha

EsseKey · 28/04/2021 08:50

@MrsF111 ahahah yes indeed I definitely don't want to waste an opportunity!
Maybe I will consider going there, do it only tonight and come back home tomorrow morning...and skip sex for one day. Unless I get the static smile tomorrow of course eheheh
let's see...I hope my cold or whatever it is doesn't get worse

MrsF111 · 30/04/2021 10:41

2 dpo, it’s going to be a long 2 weeks!! How is everyone else getting on?

EsseKey · 30/04/2021 11:15

Hey @MrsF111
I am feeling a bit better today although I still have a bit the cold and mild sorethroat...and I think it has messed a bit my bbt charts (I had very high bbt in the last couple of days, almost as if I had ovulated, but I am convinced it is because of my cold - even though I don't have proper fever).
Anyway on wednesday night I managed to spend the night with my boyfriend, and we will be together again 24/7 from tonight until tuesday morning - if everything goes according to plan I should ovulate in the next couple of days, so fingers crossed! On the CB opk I am still on the flashy smile...
think that your 2 dpo are "already" 2 dpo... only a few more to go :) and there's the bank holiday weekend coming so I hope you will find something to keep your mind busy and off the pregnancy thoughts for a few days!

EsseKey · 06/05/2021 08:10

@MrsF111 and everyone else, how are you doing? did you manage to relax for a few days...?

I have been getting those damn flashy smiles for the last 8 days now - it never happened before but I guess that the mc has just messed up my cycle... also I did not see any EWCM or anything in this period. I thought I was just not going to ovulate this month, it is possible...
anyway I managed to spend time with my partner and dtd a few times in the last few days (but not yesterday night!)...now we won't be able to do it until tomorrow night the earliest and guess what? I just got EWCM....
so I might be really wasting an opportunity here, I am really dishearted :(

MrsF111 · 06/05/2021 09:59

@EsseKey thats frustrating! I wish our cycles were just straightforward! I think sperm lives a few days right so you might be ok still?

I managed to chill a bit, then had a really down day yesterday - went to return some clothes to a shop and there were so many lovely baby things, so happy for my friends and their new babys but its so hard isnt it.

Period is due Wednesday/Thursday - tempted to test on Sunday

EsseKey · 07/05/2021 14:36

Hey @MrsF111, ah yeah I try to stay far form the baby stuff in the shops...but it is difficult isn't it! You just have to face it sometimes and it is painful...

Today around lunch time I got a "somewhat positive" on the opk...I mean, a darker line on the cheapie LH strips (much darker than previous days, although not darker than control line), while this morning I still had the flashy smile on the CB. If that's my LH peak happening now, that's not too bad since we'll be together again for the weekend...let's see!

Sunday might be a bit early for testing but you never know...you might have a negative and not lose all hopes, but also see a positive and have a great Sunday! let me know how it goes, I keep my fingers crossed for you :)

MrsF111 · 08/05/2021 14:04

@EsseKey I keep swinging between just waiting to see if AF arrives and wanted to test 😂 it’s so difficult waiting! But getting the “not pregnant” flash up is just a kick in the stomach.

EsseKey · 10/05/2021 10:51

@MrsF111 yeah that's definitely not nice... last time I was pregnant I did the digital one only after seeing a positive on the normal one... I think that not seeing a line hits differently than a definitive "not pregnant" (even though they are in fact the same)!

Have you tested in the end, or still waiting?

Btw I finally got positive, very positive, opk this weekend and dtd on the right days...let's see how this 2ww goes for me!

MrsF111 · 10/05/2021 10:56

Eeek fingers crossed for you! Hope the 2 weeks goes as quickly as possible, time seems to stand still!

I didn’t test! Going to try and wait until Thursday if I can, or at least Wednesday

Lynne425 · 10/05/2021 11:01

Hey All

Can I please join?

My story, got BFP 1st Jan after TTC from July 2020. Went to private scan on 31st to be told it was a blighted ovum (nothing there except the sac)

Had medical management on 11th Feb - didn't work 😔
Had the MVA on the 18th Feb - again didn't fully work as still positive Pregnancy tests 3 weeks later
Finally had surgical management on 18th March which did work.

Had first AF on 18th April and starting the journey again xx

EsseKey · 10/05/2021 11:24

@MrsF111 well done for resisting the temptation to test too early! let me know how it goes on wednesday/thursday...

hey @Lynne425 - welcome, sorry to hear about your story. As if the blighted ovum wasn't enough, you had to go through surgical management Sad I hope next time goes better for you...I found this forum the best place to come and express my feelings without judgement...I think being anonymous and in an environment where everyone had similar experiences really helps to feel safe, accepted and understood!

Thanks @EsseKey it def has been a good thing this forum. It's just finding the right thread to join lol

My AF is due on Thursday but thought it arrived yesterday as had some brown discharge when wiping (sorry TMI) however there has been nothing since so kinda hoping it was implantation bleed but think that's supposed to be pink?!

Haven't tested yet but honestly don't feel it's happened this time as zero symptoms!! Just kinda want to know my body is back to normal and try again xx

EsseKey · 10/05/2021 11:44

@Lynne425 yeah I know I struggled with knowing whether my body was back to normal too! and still I am not sure it has... it took much longer than ever to get a positive on an opk... and I used to be super regular before pregnancy :-/ it made me extremely anxious in the last couple of weeks!

the color of discharge/spotting/implantation bleeding can be slightly different for everyone so try not to obsess over that ;) and also absence of symptoms is not exactly a sign that you are or are not pregnant... you will find out when you test I guess! a couple more days and you will know... last time I was pregnant I tested 3 days before AF was due and I got a clear BPF so you might be already in the "good enough" window for testing if that's what you want...

Lynne425 · 10/05/2021 11:52

I'll try hold out until Wednesday and then test - by then my AF should have shown if this is the start of it!!xx

MrsF111 · 10/05/2021 12:29

@Lynne425 we will be testing around the same time, fingers crossed for both of us!
