Hey,

So... this is month 24 of TTC and I've just invested in a ferti lily! 😂 it's last resort before turning to science!

So long story short, I have 2 DC from a previous relationship. I have been trying for 2 years for another as my new partner doesn't have any and obviously I would love another one. I have had all tests etc and I have been diagnosed with a blood disorder which hopefully will be sorted with Asprin. I have had 2 chemical pregnancies along the way.

DP has low mobility hence trying the ferti lily!

So my question is.. has anyone else been using this?

Welcome @Loops01, I used it for the first time this cycle along with preseed, currently 13DPO so will know soon enough if it helped this month. Can only see it as a help though, even if I’m not pregnant this month so will continue using.

I would suggest you locate your cervix, if you haven’t already, before you need to use it so you know your putting it in the right place. I found mine by squatting down in the shower or one foot on the bathtub side and bending down. Usually cervix’s are on the front wall just quite far up. If you manage to/already have found it then at least after you can feel to see if it feel it’s covering where your cervix is 🤣🙈 gross I know, soo!

I always lined the cup with a little preseed and left it in for over 2hours as it’s abit like a plunger and I worry it may suck the little swimmers back out 🤣

suzy124 · 23/05/2021 15:59

Hey @Loops01 sorry to hear you're feeling this way, you're definitely not alone. I've not had one hint of pregnancy either and am just starting basic bloods/SA this month.

This is my 4th month of using the fertilily. I can't locate my cervix so I just pop it up as far as I can with middle finger before popping it back with the stem. I figure it must be in the right place as it won't go any further and only the little ball sticks out at the end which I've seen others say is correct. Not using any lube but last month started warming the cup against my body before insertion (as I think was suggested by a successful poster on here). Have started to leave mine in all night, but yeah be warned in the morning it'll be sucked right in there 😂

Loops01 · 23/05/2021 16:39

Thank you @suzy124 @MrsBirds and @SLCxxx so much! You're definitely all welcoming! I'm looking forward to trying it. Not setting my hopes on it working first time like what others say, tbf I don't have much hope left haha. I will try to have a feel around properly. I don't think I'll be leaving it in too long! I remember how long it took putting my first tampon in and the fear that I'd never get it out haha. I'll take it easy! Thank you so much for your hints and tips! Will keep trying to put it in every day just for practice. Tomorrow should be the start of the window. Normally about cd16 is ovulation and I'm CD12 just now so have a few days. We've been trying for 12m in July. How long have you all been trying and how have you all found it? Cycle 4 was my breaking point but managed to focus on trying different things every month which has helped. This month has been a struggle and feel like crying at times, especially when I'm surrounded by pregnant folk or my work takes me into the matty ward or child protection stuff! Just the nature of the beast. Starting to worry that when it eventually happens I'll never let it go 😂 😂

suzy124 · 23/05/2021 18:51

@Loops01 been trying since October and it's been the hardest journey ever with no end in sight. Like if I knew oh it'll take x amount of months I honestly wouldn't care, just the knowledge that I can and will get pregnant would bring so much relief! I reached my breaking point pretty early too and like you keep trying different things each month but in the end it's probably just luck. The fact that there's nothing obvious wrong with you or hubby is really great news though I can imagine it's just added to the frustration.

Re the cup, definitely give it a few practice runs, helps put your mind at ease for when it really matters. Good luck this month! 🤞 My FW starts this weekend so I'm not too far behind you

Loops01 · 23/05/2021 19:06

Ah good to know someone so close although I'm surprised everyone's cycles don't all sync haha. I am the same. Just the knowing would help. The longer it goes the more anxious it gets too. Like I said, I've never had any sign of a positive but I know that when I do I will be so worried that I'll mc or it'll be a chemical because I know how common it is. It'll be heartbreak all over again in a different way. It's really tough emotional and physical journey. Like no other. Nice to be on here and feel less lonely though. Tried it in the shower earlier and located cervix too. Going to try to do it more often. That was the first time I got it pretty much all the way up and the flip seems easy enough. The getting out is a different matter! I find that if I can tilt one side more than the other it comes out but it's not easy. Looking forward to trying it for a while anyway. Following a cycle diet just now so what to eat during different cycle weeks. Finding it good. I've stopped taking folic acid tablets. Trying to get it more naturally and I'm noticing I'm not getting enough through diet so I'll try different ones. My body holds iron pretty well (genetic factor) so I don't think I'm going to rush to get new tablets. It's all so expensive!

suzy124 · 23/05/2021 20:36

@Loops01 got the exact same worries about chemicals/mc but just need to see those two lines first which feels like a far off dream. It's unbelievably hard and I never thought ttc would suck so much

Yep the flip is the easy part. When taking it out I tilt one side down too using the stem and then hook my finger up and over the rim to pull it the rest of the way out. Helps break the suction and this way it doesn't go flinging across the bathroom along with the contents 🙈

Loops01 · 23/05/2021 20:44

Oh god I didn't even think about spillage 😂. Keep me posted how you get on with your cycle and I'll let you all know how my first time goes...!!

SLCxxx · 23/05/2021 20:44

@Loops01 well done on finding your cervix, not everyone’s are reachable so that should help you know you have the cup in the perfect place. We have 2 beautiful children already so are blessed, but this time have been ttc since sept 2019, fell pregnant Nov 2020, miscarriages naturally @10weeks in jan and have been trying ttc since. I completely understand about the constant reminder as I work in maternity 🤦🏼‍♀️ Good luck in your fertile window, have fun and let us know how you get on with the plunger 🤣 good luck to you also @suzy124 for this weekend 🤞🏻🤞🏻

suzy124 · 23/05/2021 20:57

@Loops01 washing it out is actually the worst part for me, makes me wanna 🤮 The things we do! 😂

@SLCxxx thank you. OH is away with work until Friday which will then be CD11 for me, I ovulated that early once so just praying my egg waits. Where are you in your cycle? Also I can't imagine how goddam hard working in maternity must be!

suzy124 · 23/05/2021 21:02

sorry @SLCxxx just realised you said 13dpo earlier. Not long now, keeping my fingers crossed for you! Are you going to test or wait and see if AF shows?

SLCxxx · 24/05/2021 22:18

@suzy124 I woke up to Aunt Flo today so this woman the first month since jan that I didn’t actually test. Oh wow, CD11 is early to ovule, let’s hope it was just a one off and you have plenty of time when your oh gets back Friday. I never ovulate before CD18 🤣

SLCxxx · 24/05/2021 22:19

*ovulate

Loops01 · 24/05/2021 22:47

Aw @SLCxxx sorry to hear about the dreaded AF but I guess it's good that you didn't test. Its difficult not to test so well done on sticking to it. I feel like not testing is better. Saves some money too 😂. I have never had ovulation as early as cd11 but have heard of ovulating twice in a cycle and guess it depends how short your cycles are? I'm normally day 16/17 but would like it to be earlier to have a slightly longer luteal phase! Used the fertilily for the first proper time today. I am cd13 but noticed that my cm was less creamy and more milky/watery so thought I'd try. The lube and the fact that it's after sex definitely helped ease it in better! Got it pretty far up too which I was surprised at but also panicking that I'd lose the bugger 😂. Kept it in for only 30 mins. Not had any leakage since which is nice! Opks are rising but not peak or high yet so I'll keep tracking but hoping in the next 2 or 3 days to peak!! Not been this excited to try out something new in ages. Normally the new things arent fun and mean less good stuff like chocolate or a gin 😂

suzy124 · 25/05/2021 19:48

Sorry to hear about AF @SLCxxx but well done on not testing. I actually hardly ever test but I might try it this month, my rationale being that it will help me get in a better frame of mind quicker if AF is expected. Probably won't help at all and makes it worse 😂 How long are your cycles then? Since tracking I've ovulated anywhere between CD11-16 but usually it's at the later end 🤞

@Loops01 well done on a successful first attempt! It only gets easier from here.

I think I finally found my cervix today! After all the chat on here I decided have another root around, I only just reached it and the difference was very subtle, think I been expecting something really obvious. But it felt really reassuring to know it's not just a black hole up there 😅

Applecrumble24 · 28/05/2021 09:26

Looks like the little plunger 🪠 did the job! 9dpo.
1st month using it along with pressed, pregnacare and ubiquinol Smile

Aw congratulations @Applecrumble24 still no peak for me. Cd17 which is normally ovulation latest really so I think I've not ovulated this month so I'm out. Shame as been enjoying trying the lily out!

Marvellouslymadmum · 28/05/2021 10:13

@Applecrumble24 yay congratulations! Well done little Plunger!

Applecrumble24 · 28/05/2021 10:22

Thank you ladies. Just hope this one sticks 🤞

So sorry to those of you with AF or no peak. I know how soul destroying it is, especially after loss. Flowers

Marvellouslymadmum · 28/05/2021 10:37

I have late ovulation this month, got my peak today cd21 so will be dtd and plunging this weekend!

suzy124 · 28/05/2021 10:53

Congratulations @Applecrumble24

Did you leave it in all night?

Loops01 · 28/05/2021 11:34

Ooh yeah I second @suzy124 did you leave it in? I used it again last night with prob too much lube but was too scared to leave it in overnight! Left it for about 1.5 hours though and it was fine. Lovely little desuction sound when I got it out 😂

Applecrumble24 · 28/05/2021 12:33

Thank you
Yes, I left it in overnight 😬😂

suzy124 · 28/05/2021 13:47

Thanks @Applecrumble24 Did you use preseed before dtd or just lined the cup with it?

Applecrumble24 · 28/05/2021 14:11

I squirted some in before dtd. I thought it would be better to let it warm up inside rather than putting on the plunger

Loops01 · 28/05/2021 14:49

@Applecrumble24 can I ask - have you ever had a positive before and how long have you been trying for? Assuming you did nothing else new this month?
