The Ferti-Lily

Hey,

So... this is month 24 of TTC and I've just invested in a ferti lily! 😂 it's last resort before turning to science!

So long story short, I have 2 DC from a previous relationship. I have been trying for 2 years for another as my new partner doesn't have any and obviously I would love another one. I have had all tests etc and I have been diagnosed with a blood disorder which hopefully will be sorted with Asprin. I have had 2 chemical pregnancies along the way.

DP has low mobility hence trying the ferti lily!

So my question is.. has anyone else been using this?

@Loops01
I started trying in September, bfp in November which ended in mmc at 10.5 weeks in January. Been trying again since then. Been taking the ubiquinol for 2 cycles, was using the 7seas ttc vitamins but swapped to pregnacare this cycle and I also swapped conceive plus lube to preseed this cycle along with ferti-lily.
I really meant to just change one thing at a time so I would know what worked but I was getting so down and desperate after the mc that I just wanted to try everything! I have no way of knowing what did it but I'm convinced it must have been the ferti-lily as the other things I just changed the brand. Oh I also put DH on Wellman conception which he's been taking 2 cycles.
Hope this helps in some way!

Loops01 · 28/05/2021 16:11

Thanks @Applecrumble24! Good to know. I'm the same actually but never had a positive. I prefer preseed to conceive plus. Feels less sticky I thought. Well big congratulations anyway . Good to know I'm heading in the right direction 😉

Applecrumble24 · 28/05/2021 16:14

@Loops01
Thank you and Good luck x

suzy124 · 03/06/2021 21:54

How's everyone getting on? I left the plunger in all night again 4x this cycle, the more I use it the less I seem to notice it and had much better sleep this month. Just entered my TWW, anyone else at a similar stage? Not feeling very hopeful but then again I never am...

@MummyT13 hope you're doing ok?

Loops01 · 04/06/2021 06:37

I'm out this cycle. Just waiting for AF to show up. Will probably be late as bloods prove what my opks told me - no ovulation. I've liked fertilily though and hopefully I can really put it to the test next cycle!

suzy124 · 04/06/2021 11:29

Aw @Loops01 sorry to hear that. I saw on another thread the vaccine had messed things up, it must be really frustrating not knowing what's happening. Could it be possible that ovulation will come late though? I would still keep doing OPKs as you never know. I'm sure it won't be long before you can get back on the ttc bus and give the plunger a proper go!

Loops01 · 04/06/2021 17:45

The number of folk that have said that haha I'm cd24 and not tested today but it's been pretty much 0.1 for a few days now. Not looking like a surge at all!

suzy124 · 04/06/2021 18:22

Sorry not meaning to repeat what others have said, it's just what I'd do in your situation. If you really think this cycle is over I'm hoping AF turns up for you on time so you can start fresh very soon

Loops01 · 04/06/2021 18:45

@suzy124 no not at all. Tested cd22 and it was almost invisible. Didn't test yesterday (long story but cat very unwell). Got home today after I sent that msg and had loads of ewcm in my pants. Like way more than normal. Tested and got the darkest test line ever and it appeared so quickly too! You are a jinx!! 😂. It only scanned as 1.76 or something and read high and not peak? Will test later or tomorrow. I don't think it'll be a long luteal phase so I don't think anything will really happen. We quickly got busy and I've stuck in lube and lily. Haven't done the deed since Monday and I feel I've maybe left it too late but will keep testing. Feel like a fool now for thinking that was it. This is literally the longest date I've ever had for ovulation. Trying soy isoflavones next cycles so hopefully that'll help! I'm so stressed and relieved at the same time! Not hopeful but content! AF was cd33 last month which was 8 days later than predicted so I'm assuming it'll be late again. Weird! How are you doing anyway?? Your tests gone back to past ovulation?

suzy124 · 04/06/2021 19:49

Excellent news @Loops01 I can feel your relief! I would have been exactly the same so don't beat yourself up about it, it's impossible to be positive during this process as it's a complete mindfuck. For now just enjoy that your body knew what to do and try to do something nice for yourself this weekend (apart from bd!) Also try not to worry about luteal phase yet, so many people say they conceived on the cycle they were least expecting it. It's all so unpredictable. It is weird that your test didn't register as peak but maybe it'll correct itself if tomorrow's is lighter.

I'm 2dpo but weirdly don't feel like I've ovulated this cycle. Temps being slow to rise and not getting the post-ovulation bloat I'd normally feel at this time. Although I did get a peak it was only 1.4 which is low for me as I normally reach 2. Have got my day 21 bloods next week so will know for sure soon enough. Weirdly I'm still peeing on opks I think I miss the illusion of control in the 2ww 😂

Also sorry to hear about your cat, sounds serious but I hope he or she can make a speedy recovery 💙

Loops01 · 04/06/2021 20:35

I got it wrong. Was only 1.26 so you're beating me. I think the 2 cycles before I was 1.7. I think it just have to have a 3 or 5 fold increase from your lowest. Can't remember. I did Google the 'rules' that premom work by once. It was baffling but basically as long as it was above 0.6 or something then that's something! Im sure as long as you get a darker or equal line then you're on good tracks! Let me know how the day 21 goes! Thank you. My cat lola doesn't have long. It's all quite a surprise. She's got an aggressive cancerous tumour that is apparently bigger than golf ball! Had no idea. She's been on and off her food and I noticed some weight loss and yeah now we are here. She's literally my fur baby. My first pet that was all mine and not family. So sad. I also think if I wasn't stressed before I certainly am now! Working the next 5 days and it was manic today so I'm actually just looking forward to next week! I have 13 shifts left before annual leave. Hoping to ovulate during annual leave to make things easier!

suzy124 · 05/06/2021 15:47

@Loops01 that's so sad, I'm really sorry. You've not been having an easy time this month.

Did you test again today?

Thanks for the reassurance re opks, I'm just nitpicking really. Temps still on the low side this morning but keep waking up earlier than normal so maybe that's affecting it.

Loops01 · 05/06/2021 15:58

What do you use to temp? I've heard of a few devices that I would be keen to try since I do shifts but don't really want to pay so much money!

This morning was 1.3 something and then this afternoon was 0.9. Is there still a chance of catching it if we do it tonight? Or is this decrease meaning ovulation? I don't think the little swimmers have had enough time to reach it but I'm happy I have got nice dark lines this month. Will hopefully peak earlier next month and it has been really difficult recently and I've felt pretty low so not expecting miracles! Things will get easier in time but yeah just not having the best time just now. I'd take last year over this yr any day!!

suzy124 · 05/06/2021 19:26

I'm just using the fem thermometer but could be tempted with a bracelet, haven't looked yet so don't know which is best only that they're pretty damn expensive like you say.

I say go for it, you're probably ovulating today. That way you've covered your bases. If you're not temping to confirm Ov I would probably give it a go tomorrow also. Also sperm can reach the tubes in under an hour even so get busy!

I'm sure things will be more normal for you next cycle. Seems the jab is affecting people for a month or two then it gets back on track, I still don't want mine tho haha. Gonna have to bite the bullet I guess.

Really don't think this is my month. In such a bad mood after researching IVF eligibility in my area with NHS. Why don't doctors tell us these things!!

Loops01 · 05/06/2021 19:59

Oh 100% I have not liked the Dr's throughout all this!! I'd love to temp. Maybe one day if I change my job. I'm trying! Will do it tonight and tomorrow. If it works ill be so so so impressed. Otherwise I won't be too sad. How long have you been trying for now? I've rescheduled my fertility scan (private) until June 27th. Hopefully it flags up why it's taken so long so I can try to fix it. Don't feel as low as before but it changes daily 😂. What is the ivf in your area looking like?

suzy124 · 06/06/2021 19:30

I found out that you need to be referred in time to start treatment before you turn 35, which for me will be early Feb. Even if I get referred now it'll be too late by the time they do all the tests and decide if I'm eligible. To be fair my GP is lovely, and just before we started basic bloods/SA she told me not to worry, that lots can be done to help even if there's a problem. But I don't see how if i'll be too old?! Gonna speak to her again after my next bloods and ask for an urgent referral. Even if we don't need it I think it's only fair we get on the list and have our chance at a free go? We've been trying since October, not a full year I know, but like I said I'll be 35 soon at which point you only have to be trying for 6 months. Also I'm having to do self-insemination because my OH suffers from DE. I'm hoping at the very least we will be offered IUI, since not being able to have sex to make a baby is a pretty big obstacle. Fed up really and need some extra help.

How long have you been trying? Did the app change your result to peak after seeing the opks coming down? Also would the NHS not offer you a scan? I had one in January to check ovaries (though not for fertility) and it came about pretty quick.

Loops01 · 06/06/2021 20:42

Sorry for not knowing but what is DE? One of my friends that is trying her husband struggles to finish inside but she uses a proper device to inseminate - is that what you use? Are you nhs England? I'm in Scotland. Not entirely sure of the process but I know that once you are 35 you only have to be 6m like you say and then you get priority appt I think in comparison to myself. I'm 32 next month and we have to try to 12m and then wait for referral. It is off how they do it. I know one of the girls I used to work with was in her 40s when she had treatment. She was one of those that struggled, got treatment and pregnant then had a natural pregnancy not too long after the birth of her first. I think it's the not knowing that's the worst. If I knew that it wouldn't be until cycle 16 then I would be more patient. I'm cycle 10 currently so hoping cycle 11 it'll be! Getting referred now as I didn't realise but I've been off the pill for 2 years now and that is counted towards the trying in a sense. That's what the gp said. But it'll be 9m wait probs. No won't get scans until I'm at the fertility clinic. Only got day 21 and seminal analysis from gp. And a general blood test. Oh and a swab which of course didn't have anything! It just feels so long and never ending! App has updated below. It's gonna be another long cycle by the looks of it. Hoping next month gets back to more my normal and not so late ovulation!

The Ferti-Lily
suzy124 · 06/06/2021 22:00

DE is delayed ejaculation so same problem as your friend. What is she using? I'm just using a 10ml syringe and then lily in after. I know it's worked for a lot of people just doesn't seem to be working for me 🙁

Yeah England, sucks to know that I'm in such a crappy county for eligibility, whereas in another I could be offered 3 tries being under 40. So so unfair. I think Scotland is pretty good for it though, hope I'm not mistaken.

Oh I know, it's the worst thing about this. Just to know that we can and will get pregnant would take away so much stress. Don't know about you but this has sucked all enjoyment from life for me and I'm wishing time away.

It's good you've been referred but sucks about the wait so I understand getting a scan privately, I'd do the same. I take it bloods and SA were all ok? My OH is waiting for his SA appointment and I am so impatient, though I'm actually really dreading the results of it. I'm convinced he has no sperm!

Loops01 · 06/06/2021 22:32

I know she got something off ebay that is similar to the mosie baby syringe type thing. Heard about it in a podcast. I think she's used it 3 times. Her husband got referred for counselling as they think it's his anxiety however not putting pressure on etc meant he can do it at times. It must be difficult though to not find it stressful. She is my age and the husband is early to mid 40s? Not been trying that long. She did say you have to watch how you scoop it up as too quickly or something and it can damage sperm? She warms it up too so it's more body temp

Yeah Scotland is somewhat good. Only issue is that we have less branches of NHS so bigger waiting lists I think?

SA was above average. Bloods were fine apart from day 21 of course. Been told that there's no reason we shouldnt get pregnant naturally. So much easier said than done. We had to call the gp for sa results as they didn't contact us. I think it was 3 weeks it took. Definitely get him to ask lots of questions and jot down the numbers. My DH was just told 'normal' by the receptionist and I got him to call to speak to Dr about it so we knew better

suzy124 · 07/06/2021 12:14

I just google Mosie syringe, looks more comfortable than what I'm using but £60 for 2 plastic syringes and they say don't re-use them. Sheesh

My OH was referred for counselling pre-covid and still nothing. To be fair that's not gonna solve problem tho, I haven't got years for him to get his head round things. I wish we could just have sex as this has just doubled the stress for me

Bigger waiting lists suck but hey you're only 32 you've got time on your side. NHS already making me feel over the hill.

How long did you have to wait for the SA appointment? As in giving the sample

Loops01 · 07/06/2021 12:45

Oh try to book your SA sample ASAP as we had to wait almost 2 months for an appt (even though it was just do it at home as we lived close). It was 3 wks after the apt for the results. I've heard of people having to wait 3-4 months for appt.

Yeah it must make it more difficult! My friends DH is still waiting too and it's been 3 months now since referral? He's managed a bit more by just general life style changes and less stress but that is easier said than done!

Yeah it is expensive. Have you or do you use preseed? Wonder if those syringe type things would work and then add a bit of pressed too to help?

suzy124 · 07/06/2021 13:19

We would if we could! It's been a few weeks and still waiting for an appointment to come through. I'm assuming it will be done at the hospital.

Used pre-seed one month and had to go to doctor as thought it had given me a yeast infection. Turns out it wasn't but won't be using it again! Also I hate that they have parabens in them. I have 3-4 days of pretty good EWCM and I figure the human race got this far without fertility lube. Also placing sperm near the cervix should be enough no matter how it gets there? I just can't bring myself to pay that amount of money for syringes that just have a rounder end and slightly longer opening

Loops01 · 07/06/2021 14:19

I know a friend of a friend who used a turkey baster and got pregnant first time. She is lesbian and never had sex with a male before so not sure if that maybe helped?! 🤣 Yeah it is difficult. I used conceive plus and really didn't like that but I've not personally had any issues with preseed but i agree-my grandma was like we never had any of this and no vitamins etc. They struggled but also never really tried in comparison.

suzy124 · 07/06/2021 18:43

Exactly. My sister conceived twice in around 5 months each time (albeit without performance difficulties) - no vitamins, no cup, no lifestyle changes. Really makes you wonder

I love that your friend used an actual turkey baster. There's hope for me yet!

Loops01 · 07/06/2021 18:57

I know. I ruled this cycle out when I thought I didn't ovulate so I'm now snacking on some crisps after having some feta in my main meal. Had about 4 aka my wagon wheels yesterday and a few gins (not many) cos I thought well why not! Felt really sad and upset and that people have done worse more often so I'll just enjoy and chill a bit and then prep for next cycle closer to AF
