Hi everyone! Hope it's ok to join. I'm starting ttc this month, it's currently day 1 of my cycle and I yanked out my coil this afternoon Grin

I was lucky enough to conceive on cycle 2 last time, but I'm now a couple of years older (36) about a stone heavier and have drunk approximately 300 bottles of sauvignon blanc since then!

What has everyone else done supplement-wise to boost chances? Last time I took the ttc pregnancies, q10 and zinc and dosed my partner with zinc and mac powder impregnated banana cake! Seemed to do the trick!

Noodella18 · 27/02/2021 18:34

@thislittlebird sorry that happened to you, sounds so frustrating. I would definitely complain. My partner is a gp, if you like i can ask him whether the NHS would accept the tests if you did them privately? Which ones would they be? I can't guarantee he will know, but can ask.

climbershell · 27/02/2021 19:11

@thislittlebird I think it's worth a complaint as that is shocking.

I hope your partners next SA is improved 🤞

Is it worth getting the tests done privately and if clomid is recommended and NHS won't accept their tests, pay for a cycle yourself? In the mean time hopefully NHS will sort themselves out, so if need more than 1 or 2 cycles you're only paying for the initial one or two? I have to admit we've not got any further than initial testing, so I'm not exactly sure if that would work

Keep getting mood swings today, my partner is very childish at times and he's really getting on my wick today (and he knows it), usually I just join in or tell him he's an idiot and that's it. No idea if mood swings at this stage are connected

thislittlebird · 27/02/2021 19:45

Hi and welcome @Noodella18! I think a few of us are on q10 or ubiquinol at various doses. I’m on a whole host of things right now, in lieu of any medical help Confused. Vitamin C was a popular one we were discussing recently.

No harm in asking him, Noodella, thanks! I’m hoping they will since the wait for some of the tests is so long.

thislittlebird · 27/02/2021 19:54

Yeah I need to have a think about it @climbershell. My surgery is a mess tbh. I don’t know what to make of the place the last half a year or more, don’t even know who the doctors are now, they all disappeared.

It might be possible to do a bit of both, need to look into it.

How many dpo are you?

climbershell · 27/02/2021 20:10

@thislittlebird good luck with sorting it even just in your mind untangling all the thoughts etc

I'm 7dpo. I'm pretty sure my boobs are bigger, kinda obvious on me as I'm so flat. Boobs esp right have been getting pain twinges today and yesterday

thislittlebird · 27/02/2021 20:54

@climbershell Is it your first month ttc? I can’t remember. I know you can implant from 6dpo, no idea how early you can get symptoms really.

The tww drives me potty because I feel like I can’t trust my own bloody pmt symptoms anymore. I’m not at the potty stage just yet, but I’m sure it will happen in a few days, despite telling myself to be chill.

thislittlebird · 27/02/2021 20:55

Oh no hang on, you’ve had some tests so maybe you said it was 6 months @climbershell

climbershell · 27/02/2021 21:17

@thislittlebird yes had tests about 3 weeks ago, this is cycle 7.

Watching TV with my fella, he didn't look luckily lol coz I just squeezed my boobs 😅 think they're puffier..

How many dpo are you?

I never usually test, because I wait for approx date of AF & it arrives. Tested twice and later that day AF came. I told myself 15dpo but now I think I'll test 12dpo, so Thurs.. Arrrrrrrh

climbershell · 27/02/2021 21:19

Well actually i stopped taking the pill last March, but we weren't jointly timing sex, me just trying to seduce him at the right time and only 6 previous cycles we've dtd 2ce in the fertile window, so I'm counting this as cycle 7

thislittlebird · 27/02/2021 21:30

I have similar question marks over which months I “count” as properly trying @climbershell. Some months early on we only did it once in the possible fertile week and I wonder to myself if I should count those months quite often. We officially started october 2019 but then had to stop for a few months at the start of 2020 because I was ill.

I’m 3dpo (I think) but I don’t have much optimism really. Feels like an uphill struggle knowing we both have potential issues.

I tested last month because I couldn’t sleep thinking about my stupid BBT the night AF was due. But normally I don’t test unless I’m late, which is very rare. I can count on one hand the number of tests I’ve done since we started ttc. I just wait for AF which comes without fail, eventually.

Marvellouslymadmum · 27/02/2021 21:33

@Noodella18 welcome, I'm on pregnacare conception, ubiquinol, b6, b complex, d, c, evening primrose oil, pomegranate juice, pineapple, full fat milk, protein and warm feet 😂 I was talk no extra zinc on top of what's in the conception vits for me or oh as you shouldn't have too much

@thislittlebird I definitely think you should complain to your surgery, they may push through more tests or a referral for you!

KG1145 · 27/02/2021 21:39

@thislittlebird - yep just left them in . She said to keep them in 3 - 5 days so I took the plasters off today. Couldn't feel them while they were in at all

KG1145 · 27/02/2021 21:42

@thislittlebird that's terrible you were given the wrong information, I'd be so angry

Noodella18 · 27/02/2021 21:49

@Marvellouslymadmum oh that's good to know about the extra zinc! I won't take any more then. I need to research the ubiquinol, hadn't even heard of it!

Another question to everyone, ovulation test stripe, where do you get yours? They're so fricking expensive from boots but I worry that the slightly cheaper ones on ebay wouldn't be effective.

KG1145 · 27/02/2021 21:54

Hmmm I'm getting pain in the right side of my pelvis, I was wondering if it might be ovulation pain but CB tests are showing negative. Does anyone know if you get ovulation pain before the CB tests.

I'm on CD12. I do occaisionally get quite bad right pelvic pain so it may not be ovulations but I'm starting to track it to try and figure it out...Hmm

Kitekat81 · 27/02/2021 21:59

@thislittlebird @climbershell I have the same dilemma over which months to count. I actually stopped taking the pill in September 2019, mainly because I was having unpleasant side effects and I was fed up of being on it. We discussed in very vague terms that maybe I would get pregnant and decided not to prevent it, but apart from me taking folic acid 'just in case' neither of us really thought about it at all (this was pre-Covid when life was actually busy!) and we didn't do anything to change our lifestyles. I didn't track anything so have no idea if we were having the right kind of sex at the right time. I also now know we were unwittingly doing stuff that would have got in the way e.g. using the wrong type of lubricant. Clearly if I was super fertile I could have got pregnant in that time, but with no record of anything I can't hand on heart say that we were "trying" at that time. It was in April 2020 that we decided to actively try, made loads of lifestyle changes, did loads of research, and I've been tracking everything there is to track since then. So in my mind we've been trying for 10 months, and that's what I told the fertility clinic. But should I be including those 6 months prior to that?? That would put me a lot further along in this journey and change the decisions about next steps!

KG1145 · 27/02/2021 22:01

So I was chatting to my partner earlier. I have been putting my life on hold so much TTC, not starting new things, not changing jobs when I'm not happy where I am, that sort of thing. So I've decided I want to book something that I want to do, that I couldn't if I was pregant. If I'm pregnant I'll happily cancel and if not at least I've got something to look forward to. Just trying to think of what! Anyone thought of doing something similar? Boozy brunch/spa day that sort of thing

I was joking to hubby earlier that if I'm not pregnant in a couple of months I'll buy a Mazda MX5 Wink

Kitekat81 · 27/02/2021 22:02

@Noodella18 hello! 👋 I use Easy@home opks from Amazon, with the premom app.

KG1145 · 27/02/2021 22:05

@Kitekat81wrong type of lubricant Shock i never even thought of that, what's the wrong type runs to check box under bed

Marvellouslymadmum · 27/02/2021 22:09

@Noodella18 ubiquinol is just a more absorbable version of co-q10. Ovulation strips you can get on Amazon or eBay but I found them a nightmare to read, have gone over to the clearblue digital advanced this month which are way better and I paid £24 for 25 tests

@KG1145 I've been getting slight cramps the last couple of days, I'm on cd12 too but have had flashing smileys for 7 days now. That's a good idea about the something fun!

@Kitekat81 we were doing the same came off pill April/may 2018 but apart from inputting my af into an app and getting cross if oh wasn't in the mood around when it said was ov time that was it, only started really doing a lot more a few months ago

thislittlebird · 27/02/2021 22:11

Oh how odd @KG1145, didn’t know anything about the needles being left in before, at least they don’t hurt but I know what I’m like, I’d want to take them out lol. Do you have to just pull them out when the time is up?

I get ovulation pain at all sorts of times including before the LH surge sometimes.

I can’t explain my GP surgery very well, you sort of have to see it to believe it, but it’s run by this absolutely mad old doctor who is never there/available for appointments and I just do not expect anything to happen from sending a letter. It’s frustrating.

Ubiquinol is just the more absorbable form of coq10 @Noodella18. @Marvellouslymadmum is giving me a run for my money on the supplement haul 😂. I have seven seas ttc, ubiquinol, vitamin d, vitamin c, magnesium, omega 369, b6 that I’m taking daily and evening primrose oil, l-arginine and acai that I take at certain times Confused. I only upped the supplements because I don’t know what else to do with myself that will help while we wait, and some of these have worked for other people so why not.

KG1145 · 27/02/2021 22:15

@Marvellouslymadmum - ah a cycle buddy :) - we can try and keep each other sane during the ttw! That's good about the flashing smile! I'm a bit worried I'm not ovulating properly as haven't been getting very dark lines at all on the cheapy ones so that's why I switched to cb this month.

thislittlebird · 27/02/2021 22:15

Oh yeah same here @Kitekat81. We were using KY until august last year I think. I don’t know which to count count at all really, I made a list and cut out all the less active months once, made me feel a bit better lol

The regular lube brands aren’t sperm friendly @KG1145

Marvellouslymadmum · 27/02/2021 22:15

@thislittlebird ooh I don't know you have some I'm not taking! I'm not taking any omega, what's the magnesium for? I may look into the l'arganine and açai though. I'll be rattling soon 😂
