@climbershell oh god, long message ahead warning 🙈
I (naively) called them for my results after my tests in July and the receptionist told me they had come back fine or normal. I just accepted that and didn’t ask for a follow up appointment because I guess I thought fine was fine, they know what they’re doing! Months went by and we got married so I wasn’t really focusing on the ttc so much and then after the wedding I started to think about it all some more and decided I would ask for the results in writing.
When I got them in writing the results said, quite clearly, that they were not fine and could indicate a defective luteal phase. Screenshot of the words attached because I still can’t believe she didn’t mention this to me, and I’m kicking myself that I never asked for an appointment. And to add insult to injury the exact same thing happened to my husband. Told his results were fine by the receptionist, stopped worrying about it for a while, then when we got his in writing (after I realised mine were not “fine”) his were also not exactly fine. The GP still said his were normal when he called to follow up but the private consultant we saw after my AMH and follicle scan wasn’t worried about my progesterone and she thought I was fine, but she was a bit concerned by his results. Sigh.
Anyway, in early December I arranged an appointment and asked for a referral and they said you need two sets of tests. I couldn’t do my day 21 again until February because my periods decided to go haywire at the exact same time. Finally redid my tests a few weeks ago and my progesterone was even lower this time and the doctor referred us, but now we have to wait until May with iffy sperm and unknown ovulation 😑.
Hence why I’ve started acupuncture and supplements, because I don’t know what else to do while we wait but help myself/ourselves as much as I can.
Anyway, I guess lesson learned: get everything in writing and maybe get second or third opinions 🤷♀️
Currently I’m considering booking in with a specialist at Kings who has a waiting time, thinking it might be good to see my referral clinic and someone else around the same time to see what they advise.
